Emiline's/Luna's P.O.V
Ah fresh air! It was glorious! And the view, gorgeous! Staring at a city from thousands of feet in the air was the best way to see the whole thing. Luna wanted to zip down though and examine every little detail. Pitch had said she could once he picked the right place for their plan to begin. Finally, after what seemed like eternity, Pitch settled on New York City. The city that never sleeps was about to be taken on a dark nightmare trip.
Luna laughed hysterically as she flew from building to building, popping into bedrooms as she went. She sent monsters into each bedroom and assigned them specific jobs. This one was to hide beneath the bed and reach for the child's feet should it get up for a glass of water in the middle of the night. The other one was to hide in the darkest shadow of the room and let its glowing eyes be the only thing the child saw. But no matter what Luna did, she never gave a monster the closet. She had other plans for that place.
Very carefully, Luna placed her lips as near to the child's ear as she could without them brushing against each other. An evil grin had spread across her face. This was the part she loved best in the plan, the part she got to tell a story. Sure the black heart was making her feel physically ill for scaring all these kids but she would get over it. She would go and throw up for the millionth time that night and get over it.
"The Boogeyman is a man made of shadows. He is cruel, cold, dark, bitter, and absolutely terrifying." Luna began, whispering gently into the child's ear. There was dark magic in each word and Luna couldn't help feeling that the cruelty of the magic was tainting the words that sounded so beautiful coming from her. "The Boogeyman wants nothing more than to scare and enslave the children of the world, making him apart of his Fearling army. So, when a child is getting ready for bed, the Boogeyman hides in the closet and waits for them to fall asleep." She could see Pitch's eyes glowing in the closet, he had arrived just as she had hoped. "When the child finally falls asleep the Boogeyman comes out, an evil smile on his face." The sleeping kid whimpered, gripping their blanket tightly. Pitch came strolling out of the closet, shooting Luna a slightly angry look. "Then he sends his monsters to attack the child in their sleep. They take them and drag the shadows, screaming. No one hears them though and no one saves them."
The child was crying in its sleep and when Pitch sprinkled a bit of nightmare sand above its head Luna could see why. What she had whispered to the kid was coming true in their dream. Pitch was there, though he looked much more sinister than normal, and he was laughing as his monsters attacked the child. Guilt and pain filled Luna and she placed a hand to her stomach, one because she was sick and the other because she could feel the tattoo Guilt burning there.
"On to the next apartment building Pitchy." Luna whispered cheerfully. Pitch just nodded, watching the nightmare with a cruel smile. Luna felt her stomach heave and she threw herself out the window before Pitch could see her puke.
Luna flew until no Fearling or Nightmare could see her. She kneeled down in an alleyway, clutching her stomach. Then she was sick and afterwards she knelt there crying, the emotional pain too much to bear. How did scaring those kids make her feel so happy and then so terrible at the same time? It was the black heart's fault, Luna knew that, but she couldn't bring herself to get rid of it. She clung to it like a lifeline now, as if it was the only thing that could save her.
When Luna felt a hand gently touch her back she jumped and turned her head to see who it was in fear. Dracus was standing there, his face a blank mask. Luna stared up at him in horror, afraid of what he might do since it was painfully obvious she had thrown up.
"Seeing the kids like that, it makes me sick too." Dracus said, his voice low. Luna stared up at him in amazement but then another wave of sickness hit her. She turned back around and puked. Dracus rubbed her back gently as she did, making comforting hush sounds the whole time. When she was done he leaned so close to her ear that his lips brushed it. "I'll keep him from knowing, don't worry." The Fearling boy whispered to her.
Then he was gone, probably to distract Pitch while Luna tried her best to compose herself. She found herself just kneeling there though, her shock higher than her sickness. Another Fearling got sick at the sight of scared children? It wasn't just her? But that couldn't be right, they were Fearlings and they were supposed to hate children. Luna was supposed to love telling such awful stories. She touched the crack in the black heart where light was faintly pouring out. The light suddenly became brighter and burned red hot, painfully shooting an image into her head.
But it wasn't an image. It was a memory, but whose? There was a little girl with blonde uneven hair, the girl whose name Luna couldn't remember, and a teenage boy with sweet brown eyes. They were staring at her expectantly, like they were waiting. But no it couldn't be her, she must be staring through someone else's eyes. Wasn't she? Because that was her voice telling a beautiful light bedtime story filled with happiness and joy to these sweet looking kids. It was her voice…but how could it be her?
