"I'm a horrible friend," Caroline said miserably.
"Don't take it too personally, many women pass out in my presence." Kol said, laying Bonnie on the couch.
"I keep dragging her into these type of situations and getting her hurt," Caroline said.
"Don't be so harsh on yourself," Klaus said quietly, placing a hand on her shoulder. She leaned into the warmth for comfort and the argument they had yesterday seemed forgotten for the moment.
"Yeah, you should be used to this by now, after all, doesn't she do this all the time?" Kol asked.
Caroline groaned and turned towards Klaus, burying her head in his shoulder. He wrapped his arms around her and gave Kol a warning look.
"What?" Kol shrugged, placing a blanket around the witch. Despite the way he acted, he was worried about the witch but he couldn't let anyone see that, not now.
"I don't even understand what's happening right now," Caroline mumbled around Klaus's shirt.
"We'll figure this out, I promise," Klaus said reassuringly.
"Can you two go do that somewhere else? It's kind of gross," Kol said.
"Don't start with me Kol," Klaus warned.
"Wouldn't dream of it big brother, but since I'm connected to your girlfriend you won't go anything to me without hurting her, so hit me with your best shot," Kol said.
"I wonder if you two share the same emotion as well," Klaus said. "Shall we find out?"
"Can you two stop? Please? My best friend is unconscious, and possible hurt, again, because of me!" Caroline said. The last line must have really hit home because her eyes watered and she turned away from Klaus and vamp sped upstairs.
"Young vampires, so moody," Kol muttered,
"You are testing my patience," Klaus warned.
"Sorry," Kol muttered, sitting beside his witch.
Klaus debated about going after Caroline or staying and talk to his baby brother. Caroline probably needed space right now and it wasn't often Klaus had a chance to bond with his siblings.
"Your witch, she's going to be fine, she's a fighter," Klaus said.
"So is your girl," Kol said.
"Yes she is," Klaus said quietly.
"This is kind of ironic. My girl, connected your girl to me, your least favorite brother," Kol said, chuckling humorlessly.
"We all know my least favorite brother is Finn," Klaus smiled.
Kol chuckled and gently stroked Bonnie's face, strangely finding comfort in his brother's presence. "How did we get ourselves into this situation Nik? We're supposed to be the scary brothers that doesn't love anyone and no one loves them, now look at us. A bunch of softies."
"Watch who you're calling a softie."
"You're not fooling anyone Nik. That blonde up there has changed you, not completely, no, that would impossible, but she's definitely brought out a softer side to you. The sad thing is I use to find this hilarious, back in Mystic Falls I use to think it was adorable how a baby vampire who wouldn't give you the time of day caught your attention. Now a witch with an attitude who gives a bad aneurism caught my attention."
"Things certainly has changed," Klaus agreed.
"What have we gotten ourselves into," Kol groaned, dropping his head on Bonnie's chest.
"Well brother, I believe what got ourselves into something that is going to hurt us, chew us up and spit us out and ruin us ," Klaus said. "Love."
Kol groaned in reply and all conversation was stopped as both Originals thought about the mess they got themselves into.
Klaus trudged up the stairs, debating which room to go to. Maybe Caroline needed more time to process her feelings, or maybe she needed him right now. Disgusted by the fact that she couldn't make a decision he headed for Caroline's room, determined to comfort the women he loved.
He opened the door and looked in. She wasn't there. He could tell she hadn't been there in a while, her scent wasn't fresh. He closed the door and marched to his room. She better be in there, because he wouldn't be able to handle it if she left him again.
He opened the door and all anger left him spotting the blonde face down on his bed. She was sprawled out across the entire bed, just like she had been the morning after their first night together. It had been such a magical night, one he would never forget, but he hadn't touched her since and he missed the feeling of her body. He would have to wait, she needed him right now, and not in the same way he needed her.
He walked over and sat on the bed next to her, gently moving the hair away from her and to one side of her head. She was so beautiful, so full of light, just the way she was the first day he met her, and she was all his.
"Is she still unconscious?" Caroline mumbled, drawing him out of his thoughts.
"Yes," Klaus said, tracing a finger down the side of her face.
She rolled over on her back and starred up at the ceiling, fighting the emotions that were running through her. Why was she always so emotional and moody? "I'm a horrible friend."
"No, you're not. You are loyal, protective, and will do anything for her. You're a great friend," Klaus corrected.
"Do you have any idea how many times something's happened to her?" Caroline asked.
"And how many times have something happened to you?" Klaus asked, eyes narrowed.
"Klaus-"Caroline began.
"You've told me several times about all the danger she has been in, but what about you? You always seem to forget about yourself and all the things you've been through."
"I can never forget about all the things I've been through Klaus, but what kind of friend am I if I don't try to protect Bonnie from it?"
"Bonnie is capable of protecting herself Caroline, she has done it time after time, I've seen her do extraordinary things with her magic, things that shouldn't be possible. And while I'm not saying that means you shouldn't protect her, I just don't understand why every time something happens you beat yourself up over it."
"Because I should've been there to protect her, she shouldn't have to be by herself in all."
"But you were," Klaus said quietly. Caroline looked at him, completely shocked, and sat up. "Is that why you don't want her to be alone, because you were?" He watched her reaction to see if she was going to get up and run, but she actually seemed frozen in place. She swallowed and backed herself up against his head board, bringing her long legs up to her chest. "Don't run from me Caroline, open up," He whispered, stroking her cheek. "Why do you want to protect Bonnie so much?"
Caroline closed her eyes and looked away, needing the space, but Klaus gently turned her head back to him, forcing her to look at him. She found it wasn't that hard to look at him, in fact, she found comfort in his eyes, so she began talking. "Growing up I was always by myself. Yeah, I had Elena and Bonnie, but at the end of the day, it was just me. My mom always threw herself into her work, and it got even worse when her and my dad split, so I gave her crap over it. I thought she didn't love me and blamed me for their divorce, and I guess I blamed myself too. Bonnie and Elena tried to be there for me but they didn't really understand, and that was fine, back then I would rather worry over their problems then my own. When I turned into a vampire I was by myself as well. I was in the hospital after hitting my head in a car accident and I guess they didn't think I would make, so Damon fed me his blood. Katherine, who at the time I thought was Elena, came and smothered me with a pillow, killing me. I woke up the next day so hungry, and the sun, it hurt. I fed off a nurse and compelled her to forget about it. I thought I was all alone, that no one would understand what was happening to me. Stefan found me later that night and helped me, but I was so scared. When Tyler's dad died, his Uncle Mason came in town. Damon killed him, but that only brought more werewolves who ended up kidnapping me and torturing me to get Stefan and Damon's attention. Not long after that my father found out he now had a vampire has a daughter, and being the proud vampire hunter that he was, he couldn't have that now could he? He thought he could torture the vampire out of me. That's when I found out my father could listen to my cries of pain, my pleas to stop, the smell of my burning flesh, and continue to burn me. The sun, it hurt like a bitch, I can still feel it if I think about it," Caroline said.
"Don't," Klaus said, guiding her mouth to his and gently kissing her, trying to ease the pain. "Don't think about it."
She reached up and pulled him closer to her, against her, and resumed kissing him until she was breathless and couldn't think about all the things that had been done to her, all she could focus on was him and his amazing lips. She pulled away when his body was on top of hers. "My point was that I know what it feels like to be alone, when the only one standing behind you is your own shadow. It sucks, and I don't want Bonnie to have to feel that."
"You don't have to feel that ever again Caroline, I will always be there for you," Klaus said, capturing her lower lip into his mouth, gently sucking on it, causing Caroline to truly forget all about her pain and focus only on the pleasure Klaus brought her.
"Stay away from me," Bonnie said, slowly backing up.
"I'm not here to harm you," Finn said.
"My friends killed you, for some reason I don't believe you," Bonnie said.
"I'm aware that your friends killed me, but I was sent to retrieve you," Finn said.
"Oh hell no," Bonnie said.
"I was told to bring you back with any force necessary, just as long as I do nothing that is fatal. Please, don't make this any more difficult," Finn sighed.
Bonnie chewed on her lip in thought. She could always use her magic to get away from him if things got too tricky, she wanted to know what was going on but should she risk going with him to find out?
Finn waited patiently for answer, but she need to know one thing before she went with him. "Who are you retrieving me for?"
"My mother," Finn said calmly.
Caroline gasped at his slow pace. Her body was burning for more, she needed him to relieve her of the ache she had deep inside of her. It was building more and more with every slow thrust and he knew that, but he purposely deprived her of that pleasure.
Her body was covered in sweat, her heart was beating too fast, and she couldn't breathe, but she still pulled Klaus down for a kiss but Klaus had other plans.
He was in a teasing mood, she realized as he nipped lightly at her lips, then ran his tongue over them to sooth. "Klaus," She moaned.
"What do you want Caroline?" He whispered, nipping along her jawline.
"I need you," She whimpered, digging her nails into his arms.
"You have me," He whispered.
Klaus cupped her cheek, touching her lips and moved even deeper into her. She hissed out in pleasure and scratched him across his shoulders. Her fangs grew and she focused her burning red eyes on his.
His own eyes turned a beautiful amber color and that was all the invitation Caroline needed. She drew him closer to her and sank her fangs in his shoulder, groaning as the sweet taste of him ran down her throat.
He hissed out as the feeling of her fangs in his neck and increased the pace, suddenly needing her. She groaned in reply and wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling his closer and deeper into her.
His eyes focused on the vein running through her neck, and unable to resist anymore, he leaned down and sunk his own fangs in her delicate neck. That was all Caroline needed to be pushed over the edge. She tore herself away from Klaus's neck and cried out in pleasure as her climax came. Klaus groaned against her neck at the feeling of her walls clenching him and the feeling of her around him. A few more thrust and his own climax hit him.
He pulled away from her neck and licked up the remaining blood, enjoying the way she shivered. He pulled out of her and rolled over, bringing her with him so she rested on his chest.
She kissed his chest and snuggled closer to him, enjoying the warmth and comfort.
"I'm so going to regret this," Bonnie muttered.
Finn was leading her further and further into the woods and she was getting more and more nervous. She only met Esther once when she was trying to kill her children and Bonnie didn't really like her. So why was she following Finn into the woods to talk to his mother? She had no idea, and probably was going to wish she never had.
"Where are you taking me?" Bonnie asked.
"I told you, to my mother," Finn replied.
"You failed to mention she was in the middle of a whole bunch of scary trees," Bonnie muttered. "How much further?"
"Would you like me to carry you?"
"What?"
"My mother said to bring you anyway necessary, if that means carrying you then I shall carry you."
"I think I can make it," Bonnie muttered.
Twenty minutes later Bonnie was reconsidering that piggyback ride. Why would Esther be so far into the woods? Didn't she know Bonnie was just a witch and it was possible for her feet to hurt?
Just when Bonnie was about to open her mouth and complain again, she spotted a cabin in the distance hidden behind some trees. "Please tell me that's where Esther is," Bonnie said.
"Yes," Finn said.
Bonnie's heart started beating faster as they got closer and closer to the house. Did she really want to do this? Did she really want to see the mother of the man she was starting to fall for? No, she didn't, but she had no choice in the matter. She had a feeling she wouldn't wake up until she found out what Esther wanted so she may as well get this over with.
She took a breath to settle her nerves when Finn opened the front door and let it out when she finally entered the cabin. It was all wooden, even the furniture, but it had a nice homey feeling to it and it even smelled nice.
"Please, take a seat. My mother will be with you in a moment," Finn said, motioning to the sitting area.
Bonnie watched him go, then turned her attention to what was around her. Couches and chairs that looked comfy, but she was looking for other stuff, like magic. Seeing nothing, she blew out a gust of air and fell back against the couch. Esther was the original witch, why wouldn't she have magical stuff lying around? Bonnie always had something by her, even if it was something as simple as sage, it was always by her.
She just happened to glance over and she caught a glance of something glimmering on the wall. She stood up and walked over, trying to get a better look. The more she focused the more it appeared, so she narrowed her eyes and focused on the wall. Slowly words and pictures started to write themselves on the wall and Bonnie back up so she could get a better look.
It was a wall filled with names that she couldn't understand, but by the look of it, she had a pretty good idea of what it was.
"I see you've found my tree," A voice said.
Bonnie lost her concentration and the names disappeared. She turned around to face the owner of the voice, Esther. "Doesn't look like a tree to me."
"That's because you do not know what it's for," Esther smiled. "Would please join me and sit down?"
"Does he have to be here?" Bonnie asked, glancing at Finn who stood in the corner.
"He is here to protect me Bonnie. I've found that on the other side I am not commonly liked," Esther said.
"I wonder why that is," Bonnie muttered, looking down at her hands.
"I've done a lot of things I shouldn't of, I'm not overly surprised that most people dislike me. I am surprised that you find discomfort in my presence," Esther said.
"I don't understand why I'm here," Bonnie said.
"I see you want to cut right to the point so that's exactly what I will do. Bonnie, you are here, to be warned."
"To be warned? About what?"
"Everything's about to change," Esther said.
Elijah walked past the unconscious witch and noticed his brother wasn't there. He had been there all day; he must have realized that that wouldn't help. The witch's breathing was normal and heart rate steady so there was no reason for concern.
After seeing that the witch was still covered with a blanket, Elijah headed towards the kitchen where he knew Hayley was. He needed to talk to her about his inappropriate behavior from the other night. He shouldn't have done it, shouldn't have followed through with his urges. He had basically taken advantage of her.
"Oh hey," Hayley said when he entered the kitchen. She kept her eyes on the sandwich she was making, not wanting to look up into his dark, hypnotizing eyes.
"How are you?" Elijah asked.
"I'm good. I'm almost positive this baby can eat threw everything," Hayley shrugged.
Elijah didn't reply, just walked around her and to the sink where he filled a glass of water for her. She muttered her thanks and they were left in an awkward silence. Finally Elijah couldn't stand it anymore and said what he had to say.
"Hayley," he began.
"Don't," She said, interrupting him. "I know what you are going to say and you don't have to. I know the other night shouldn't of happened and I know it doesn't mean anything, so don't worry about it, I'm not going to get attached after one little kiss."
Elijah nodded and gave her a smile. "Goodnight Hayley."
Hayley watched him go, suddenly not hungry. That one little kiss meant more to him then he would ever know, more then she would ever tell him.
"Do you know what fate is Bonnie? Everybody has a destiny in life, and a person's destiny's in life is planned out before they are born, it's completely out of there control. Some people's fates are intertwined, they are meant to be. Do you know who I'm talking about?"
"Caroline and Klaus," Bonnie breathed.
"My son, he always has been quick to anger, impatient, he always wanted more. He always thinks he is alone and even when he isn't he is terrified he will be left behind. It's because he is alone. All this time, even when he was human, he's always missed a certain part of him, and that's Caroline. She's is the other part of him that completes him, and he is the part of her that completes her. They were made for each other," Esther explained.
"Why are you telling me this?" Bonnie asked quietly.
"This isn't anything you don't already know. Some part of you knows all this, knows that Niklaus and Caroline are meant to be together. It explains why you started the spell you did," Esther said.
"What spell did I start?" Bonnie asked.
"That's for you to find out Bonnie Bennett, in the mean time I should warn your life is about to become even more difficult," Esther said. "Your friend Caroline, her life is about to turn up side down, and dominoes are going to start falling, and while it may seem like they will never stop, I reassure you, this is there way of being tested."
"What are you talking about?"
"You don't understand, that's okay, probably for the best," Esther said standing up. "When you wake up, and you will be soon, you will not remember any of this, you will only remember every time you see my face."
"You can't do that!" Bonnie exclaimed.
"It's already done Bonnie. You should be waking up any moment now Bonnie, I'm afraid what's about to happen won't be too pleasant," Esther said.
"What?" Bonnie frowned.
"Goodbye Bonnie," Esther said.
"No!" Bonnie shouted, launching towards Esther but she ended up sitting up on the couch, breathing heavy. Wait, why was she breathing heavy? Must have been a bad dream, although…. Why couldn't she remember dreaming about anything?
Bonnie shoved the blanket off her and swung her legs off the couch, resting her arms on her legs, trying her hardest to remember. The last thing she remembered was touching Caroline hand and everything going black. She must have passed out because of the spell on Caroline's hand.
She had to find Caroline or Kol and find out what was going with that damn spell. She didn't understand why she would link the two of them together, especially considering how Kol treated her. Suddenly out of the corner of her eye she caught a shadow moving. She looked up but nothing was there.
She stood up and headed towards the stairs when she saw another shadow, this time in the living room. She knew what she saw, she was sure of it. She walked back over to the living room and looked in. After a minute of no movement, she turned back around and ran right into someone.
"Tyler," She gasped, backing up.
"Bonnie," he said before launching himself at her.
Caroline laughed and shoved Klaus off her and took her position on top. "See, I told you I could pin you," She smiled.
"Don't be so sure love," He smirked. His hands, which were rested on her hips, slowly started too slid up and up on her delicate skin. She shivered at his touch, and he caused her breath to catch when his hands slid over her ticklish ribs.
"This is cheating," she muttered, allowing her eyes to slide close.
"No love, it's called winning," he said, and suddenly flipped them over.
"Cheating!" Caroline laughed, tangling her hands in his curly hair.
"Say what you wish love, but I'm the one on top," he said, placing kisses along her ivory skin.
"Only because I let you," Caroline said.
"Sure," he muttered against her skin.
"You don't believe me?"
"Well," Klaus began.
"Oh you have no idea what you got yourself into," Caroline said determinedly. Before he could ask what she meant her lips were on his passionately. It was unlike any of the other kisses they've shared. Caroline was rough, demanding, and the way her body was pressing up against his, Klaus lost all train of thought and pour himself into the kiss.
The minute Caroline felt him loosen up she flipped them and pulled away with a satisfied smirk. "I win," She grinned.
"I'm about to win," he growled, sitting up and yanking her body flush against his, crashing their lips together. Caroline groaned in reply and tangled her hands in his hair, losing herself in the kiss.
Just when Klaus's hands reached around to unclasp her bra, a loud scream stopped them and they both stopped moving.
"Bonnie," Caroline said and vamped sped over to her cloths on the floor and hurriedly threw them on. Klaus was right behind her and she flew down the stairs to an all-out battle.
"Glad you two could join us," Kol growled, snapping someone's neck.
"What is going on?" Klaus growled.
"That stupid hybrid boy of yours brought witches,' Kol growled.
"Where's Bonnie?" Caroline asked, looking around.
Elijah and Rebekah were fighting off some witches, but Caroline didn't see Bonnie anywhere, adding to her panic.
"Caroline!" bonnie yelled. Caroline didn't hesitate to run to the sound of her voice. She was in the kitchen surrounded by witches. Caroline immediately snapped two of their necks and slammed two of their heads together.
"Thanks," Bonnie panted.
"Are you okay?" Caroline asked, stepping over a body to reach her friend.
"I'm fine, but Care, Tyler's here somewhere," Bonnie said.
"We'll deal with it, let's get you," Caroline began, then stopped and grabbed her head in pain. "Kol," She cried out, feeling his pain.
"Shit, I hate that Original," Bonnie muttered. "Stay here, someone needs to teach him how to take care of witches," Bonnie sighed, walking off to show Kol how to do just that.
Caroline dropped to her knees, panting as the pain subsided. Bonnie must have taken care of the witches. She was just starting to stand up when hands where around her neck twisting.
"Thanks," Kol said, standing up.
"You should really learn how to handle your witches," Bonnie said.
"I think I'm doing a pretty good job," Kol said, stepping towards her.
"Back off, I'm over you," Bonnie snapped.
"You weren't saying that last night," Kol smirked.
"Now is not the time to discuss this," Bonnie said.
"Yeah well," Kol shrugged, and then suddenly dropped to the ground.
"Kol?" Bonnie frowned, stepping towards the Original. He had just dropped, for no reason. "Caroline!" Bonnie shouted, and turned around and ran towards the kitchen.
Bonnie's blood ran cold not seeing her where she had been just minutes before. Tyler had her, Tyler had Caroline. Bonnie walked into the dining room where Rebekah, Elijah and Klaus where finishing off the witches.
"Tyler took Caroline," Bonnie shouted, getting their attention. Klaus's eyes glowed and his hybrid features took over and Bonnie watched him destroy the rest of the witches. She would feel this later, but she didn't care, all she cared about was getting her best friend back.
A guess reader reviewed and mentioned something about Kol slapping Caroline. Just know that I'm not forgetting about it and it will be dealt with, I promise, I already have the scene all played out in my head, I'm just waiting for the right moment. Thanks for everything guys! Review and let me know what you think!
