*the next morning*
Jax and Jocelyn headed off for Opie's house early. Jax recognized Opie's mother's car in the driveway. He helped Jocelyn off the bike and followed her up to the house. He sighed when he saw he was right, that Mary was in the kitchen at Opie's. Piney had to have called her about the night before after all the drama with the Feds. Jocelyn walked to the back yard. Opie looked up at her from his seat in one of the kids' chairs that were out there. Ellie and Kenny were sitting on the swings across the yard from him. Jocelyn threw her arms around Opie. He returned the hug and sighed. He held her tight like if he let her go something bad might happen to her. Jax joined them out in the yard. Jocelyn went to hug the two kids. Jax and Opie were talking about the kids and how things were going. Jocelyn hugged Ellie first. The little girl was only eight years old. Kenny was five. They didn't know their dad the way Jocelyn did and they now had no mother. Jocelyn knew how that felt. She didn't have her own mom even though her mother may not have been dead.
"I'm sorry," Jocelyn told Ellie.
Ellie started crying on her shoulder. Jocelyn just held the kid until she was able to stop. Kenny just stared at them. He didn't get it at all.
"When is she coming home?" he asked, causing all new tears to come from Ellie.
Jocelyn sighed heavily. She knew that she was going to be helping out around Opie's house now that Donna was gone. Opie got up and walked over to his daughter. Jocelyn looked at Jax with no idea how to handle any of it. Jax motioned her over to him.
"Call me if you need anything," he told Opie.
Opie nodded, with his arms around his daughter. Jax took Jocelyn home to her father. Tig yanked open the door and pulled his daughter into his arms. Jocelyn cried once more in her father's arms. Jax nodded to him as he walked back to his bike. Tig held his daughter tight. She sobbed into his Kutte. He shut the door behind them and let her cry. He knew how close his daughter was to Opie and his family. He also knew he had been the trigger boy and had no idea how to come back from that. He didn't want his daughter to look at him differently. He was terrified that they would all find out and his life would be over. He also felt the guilt that he had been the one to kill her. It wasn't supposed to have been her in the truck. She should have been at home with her kids. It should have been Opie in that truck and he knew regardless of who had been in the truck he would still be looking at this situation the way he currently was because of his daughter. Opie and Jax had always been there for his daughter and he knew he couldn't repay them for that but he couldn't deal with a rat bringing the feds down on his club either.
"I'm so sorry baby," Tig whispered to his daughter.
She looked up at him. He sighed and hugged her close. Tig called Gemma to take Jocelyn shopping to get her something to wear for the funeral. He had to head to the clubhouse so they could deal with this. He waited with her until Gemma arrived to pick her up. Then he headed out. Jocelyn looked at Gemma.
"You ready baby?" she asked.
Jocelyn nodded. They headed out to get her some clothes. She chose a simple all black dress, black tights, and black dress shoes. Gemma nodded her approval. They headed to the clubhouse just in time to see Piney pulling off and Jax getting on his bike. Jocelyn followed Gemma into the office. She knew they weren't going to tell her anything. Gemma stared at her.
"It's getting bad baby," she said.
Jocelyn looked at her knowing what she meant. Things didn't look good at all to her. She was only twelve years old and knew it wasn't going to be good. Gemma had to go help at Jax's house so Jocelyn tagged along. She was busy dealing with her own emotions over Donna's death. She was going to help out with the baby to bury them. Gemma welcomed the young girl's help with her grandson.
"Aunt Gem, why did this all happen?" Jocelyn asked.
"Baby girl, don't you worry about why things happen," Gemma said.
"It's just not fair."
"I know it's not baby."
Jocelyn looked from Abel to Gemma and the older woman could see the tears in her eyes. She was tortured with the idea of someone coming to Charming to kill a Son. Gemma didn't know the tension the girl felt at home with her father.
The phone brought Jocelyn back to reality. Gemma answered it and agreed to whatever was said. They headed back to the garage after a few hours. Jocelyn was sitting on the couch when Jax came into the office. He glanced her way before telling Gemma he need to see Clay. Gemma eyed him funny about his demand. When Clay showed up, Gemma sent Jocelyn from the office so they could talk. The young girl went out into the bays where the other guys were working. She looked up when Clay left the office. She didn't know whether to go back into the office or go to the clubhouse to find her dad. She hadn't seen him pull in with Clay. She started toward the clubhouse.
"Jocelyn," Gemma called.
"I'm looking for my dad," she said.
Gemma sighed. Jocelyn looked at her before walking into the clubhouse. She found Juice sitting on the computer looking upset. Jax was just walking away from him. Jax didn't have his Kutte on and he had moved his gun from where it normal was, to his waistband. Clay yelled at him as he took off out the door. Jocelyn sat on the barstool next to Juice. She glanced over his shoulder.
"Where's my dad," she asked.
"Handling business," Clay told her.
She glanced at Clay and walked out of the clubhouse. Gemma took her back over to help Wendy with Abel. Things got very awkward when Tara showed up. Jocelyn was sitting on the floor staring at the television trying to ignore everyone around her. She knew that things were insane. Wendy and Tara were making small talk. Jocelyn looked up at Gemma.
"Can I have some ice cream?" she asked.
"Just bought some, it's in the kitchen," Gemma said.
"Cool."
Jocelyn got up and went to get a bowl. She made herself a sundae and went back into the living room. This was extremely awkward for her to be in the house with Tara, Wendy, and Gemma. It was weird than being at home with her dad right now. She ate her ice cream while tuning everyone else out.
Gemma took her back to the house with her that night. Jocelyn carried in her dress for the next day and sighed. She got settled in the normal room she took when she stayed with Gemma and Clay.
