Chapter 25: Looking for the powerful spear
The helicopter landed in a deserted place, only thing you can see is a big house in the middle of nowhere. A young Indian woman claimed out of the helicopter and walked up to this house and knocked on the door three times and waits. Not long and the door opens and a man stands in front of her. His hair in his eyes, those blue eyes of his and he looked well build and ready for action but she could see he was tired and injured.
"About time Ave!" he said looking at her with those eyes.
"Sorry Kurtis it's been a long time since I flow one of them, I'm out of practice." She answered
"That's not like you but I didn't ask you to come to make small talks. Is everything ready?" He says.
"Yes everything is ready for you guys." She answers
"Good, just stay here I'll go fetch Lara." He said with a smirk and turn around but then something hard hits him on the head and he falls down and before he goes unconscious he see Ave shape shift into Karel.
Lara just finishes packing her backpack when she hears voices. She then zips her bag up and places it on her shoulder and goes to the door and places her ear against the door to listens what Kurtis and Ave is talking about.
"Take him to the helicopter and make sure he doesn't get away this time." Karel's voice Lara thought.
"Yes master" The merc said and picked Kurtis up from the ground.
"The rest of you find me Miss Croft and bring her to me, alive." With that said Lara backed away slowly and moved to the window. She still felt little weak but she could feel her strength is coming back. She opened the window and claimed through it.
Outside she got her pistol out and placed the silencer on it and started sneaking around corners until she got to the front. She peered around the corner to see only two merc outside dragging Kurtis by the arms. She aims and shots the one in the head and as he fell the other one saw this and dropped Kurtis to the ground and before he could do anything Lara shot him between the eyes. Making sure it's clear, she starts running to Kurtis's side but he is already waking up from the knock on the head.
"Hey you alright" she asked him as she holds out her hand to help him up, he takes it.
"I'm fine, my head just hurts." He says touching the place where Karel hit him.
"I'll have a look at that when we are out of here, can you fly a helicopter?" She asks look to the house, no one came out yet.
"Yes I can, claim in." He says and she does what he says.
As he gets the helicopter up in the air, bullets start flying at them. Lara aims and shots back at them making the merc fall one by one but then she sees and angry Karel starting to fly up at them.
"Kurtis we have problem" she shouts at him and he looks to see Karel only a few inches away from them.
"Shit, hold on." He shouts back and stats flying in the opposite direction of where Karel is but Karel is fast and lands in the helicopter by Lara's side. Lara shots at him but he only laughs.
"A stupid toy won't do anything on me." He said and grabs Lara by the neck and picking her up into the air. Her feet's not touching the floor of the helicopter anymore and she grabs his hands to try and relies his grip on her neck but she starts feeling like she about to die again
"Lara" Kurtis screams from the pilot seat and then Karel throws her out of the helicopter
"Nooooo…" Kurtis screams and see Karel turns to him. Kurtis is trapped, he can't leave the pilot seat because there's no one else to fly the helicopter.
"No you will die and this world will be no more and I can start a new one" Karel says laughing but then Kurtis sees an anger Lara with a women next to her slamming her fist so hard into Karel's stomach making him fly out of the helicopter on the other side.
Kurtis looks outside and sees Karel landed on the ground hard, so then he started flying away to safety.
"How?" He finally asks when they were far away.
"As I was falling she appeared from nowhere and took my hand, flow me back up to you." Lara answered looking at the young women next to her.
"Lara do you know who is sitting next to you?" Kurtis asks.
"No" and looks at the women who smiled.
"Big brother let me tell her." The women said finally.
"Big Brother?" Lara gasped.
"Yes I'm his sister but don't be fooled I'm Not LUX VERITATIS. I inherited our mother side but a little power of my father is in me so I can fly, breath underwater and do the same staff he does and much, much more."
"Then what are you?" Lara asked
"No one knows, the order told our father that he must kick her out of the order because they thought she is a Nephilim. She has powers that Karel has also but many more and our father sent her to a place where they won't find her, not even Karel will know of her existent until our father finds out what she is really but he never found out." Kurtis answered
"Okay then how did you know where to find you brother…hmmm" Lara said but she didn't know what her name is.
"Call me Karen and I was in New York when Kurtis called Ave she was sitting at a coffee shop where I was also, I overheard her conversation with my brother so I follow her to her helicopter then I saw Karel ambushing her and killing her. He took off in the helicopter and I followed him to you guys." She answered.
"What where you doing in New York?" Kurtis asked
"Looking for you" Karen answered.
"Well you found me, what wrong?" He asked "We are here." He said as they flow over Croft Manor's grounds.
"Karel found out about me and broke into the place I was hiding all these years; I escape but the other who looked after me is dead." She answered as Kurtis landed the helicopter in the back of Croft Manor.
They claimed out not saying a word about what Karen just told Kurtis. Lara smiled as she sees Hillary and Zip coming out to see why this helicopter just landed on their friend's ground's but Zip starts smiling and elbows Hillary.
"Look its Lara." He says.
"Hallo boys." She greats them."
"Miss Croft we thought we were very worried about you. Your friend called last week, Miss Liz Maree she was looking for you. Then three news reporters and a government guy also and then Sam was also here yesterday asking where you are."
"What did she want?" Lara asked ignoring the others that were looking for but why was Sam her best friend from college looking for her, it's been year after the Yamatai trip that she spook to her.
"She didn't say just that if I hear from you I should tell you to please call her as soon as posable." Hillary answered.
"Thank you Hillary, Zip any news on the weather?" she said turning to Zip as they all walk into Croft Manor.
"Yes it's been getting little better again but there's still some places that is still getting nasty weather." Zip answered as they walked into the tech room.
"Just keep your eyes on that please, where's Alister?" She asked.
"He is upstairs doing I don't know what in the study." Zip answered.
"Thank you Zip." She said turning to Hillary "Please saw my two friends here where their room are that they can freshen up, I'm going to see what Alister is doing." She says walking of leaving them all alone.
In the study room Alister is busy going through books and you can see all the books where laying around him, it looks like his is very busy. He looked up as the door opened and he gasped to see it's only Lara.
"Lara where have you been the whole world is looking for you?" He asks.
"That's not important where I was Alister. I need you to find out where the Spear is that the Amazonian used to kill a Nephilim." She says handing him the scroll of the Amazonian.
Alister takes the scroll and reads and after reading it he looks up. "They say she's buried in India haven't you looked there yet." He asked
"Alister I wouldn't ask you to look for something if I know where it is, would I" she said getting irritated with him.
"No you wouldn't, okay then let's hit the books again." He said but when he stood up a pill of books fell from the table onto the ground. Lara crossed her arms and only shock her head and walked out to her bedroom.
Hours later Alister finds everyone in the tech room looking at something Zip has found.
"I found it." He said and everyone looks up at him.
"I'm listening" An angry Lara said sitting next to Zip. Kurtis and his sister is sanding just behind Lara also waiting.
"They buried the weapon with the Amazonian but a few years later a man call Simon dig the Spear out and took it to South Africa knowing no one would dare look in that country." Alister answered.
"Where in South Africa?" Kurtis asks.
"Pretoria but that's the best I could find." Alister answered
"I know and old friend who lives there, Zip arrange a flight to Pretoria for us three please." Lara said looking at him
"I'm on it" Zip says tipping away
"Kurtis and Karen let's get ready for this trip." Lara said standing up and walked out. Kurtis and Karen followed her, leaving Zip and Alister to do their thing.
