Chapter 25: Reaching Out?
As soon as Samantha's group was out of sight and they all heard Jimmy yell, they knew something bad was bound to happen next. Their predication proved to be correct when a boulder flew in their direction. Everyone screamed and quickly avoided it.
"What was that all about?" George questioned.
"I think Jimmy just tried to kill Fred," Amelia declared.
"Why me?" Fred questioned.
"You know why," Chelsea stated.
"SHE kissed me," Fred replied.
"You kissed her back didn't you?" George asked.
"Yes," Fred confirmed.
"Then you're equally guilty," Chelsea declared. "So don't complain."
"Even after all these years, Jimmy continues to play big brother," Amelia said.
"Like he ever really stopped though," Chelsea declared.
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
An hour later, the mansion
The group pulled into the garage and went straight to the living room, where they found the familiars waiting for them.
"Glad to see you all made it back in one piece," Abhay said.
"Did you get the shard?" Claw asked.
"Yes, we did," Samantha stated.
"So, what happens now?" Bethany questioned.
"What are you talking about Bethany?" Jimmy questioned.
"We only have four of the shards," Bethany confirmed. "Then the others have some and Morgause is bound to have at least two. What do we do if all the shards aren't together?"
"All we can do is wait and see what happens," Samantha declared. "We just need to make sure that the shards that we have stay protected. Morgause will make her move when she sees it necessary. So all we can do is prepare ourselves mentally and physically for the worst."
"She's right," Draco stated.
"I'm guessing we should start preparing now then?" Katie questioned.
"I think some rest first won't hurt us," Bethany declared.
"I agree, we need it after that challenge," Samantha added.
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Later, the house
Amelia was sitting in her room at her computer, messing around with her music programs. Nothing was going to make her forget of the dangers that were lying right in front of her. The last shard had been found. Morgause had at least two of them, and Samantha's group had the rest. How is this going to go down? All the shards needed to be put together to make the sword right?
"We need to hold on to the shards at all costs," Amelia suddenly found herself saying.
"Amelia, I think that's pretty much obvious to everyone in this household," Skye stated.
"I know Skye, but now that all the shards have been collected Morgause is bound to try and steal the ones we have in order to complete the sword," Amelia declared.
"You are absolutely right granddaughter," A familiar voice declared.
Amelia turned to see the last person that she wanted to see standing in the middle of her room.
"Oh, it's you," Amelia said. "What do you want?"
"I simply wish to talk with you Amelia," Grandpa replied.
"Well, you're the last person I want to talk to right now," Amelia declared.
"I understand you are furious with me Amelia but…" Grandpa began.
"Furious, I'm way beyond furious," Amelia declared. "You kept the truth from us all these years Grandpa. You never told us that Morgause was still alive, you denied us so many opportunities, you made it worse for us by treating us the way Dumbledore treated us, and don't think I didn't hear what you did to Samantha!"
"Samantha didn't have a choice," Grandpa simply stated.
"No, she only had no choice because you didn't give her one!" Amelia yelled. "Poor Samantha sacrificed so much for all of us all these years; and I realized that way too late because I was blinded by my book smarts. Samantha was right, I don't know how to trust my instincts and look what happened. Now there's a rift in my relationships with Samantha, Bethany, and Jimmy. And even though it's my fault for not sensing something strange, you caused it with all the secrecy!"
"Amelia, I can't justify my actions," Grandpa declared. "I only came to warn you that you need to physically and mentally prepare yourself for the battle ahead."
"Don't worry about me," Amelia declared. "I'll be prepared, but I'm not fighting for you anymore. I'm fighting for our futures, for our happiness and peace."
"Very well, goodbye then my granddaughter," Grandpa said before disappearing.
"Amelia, are you okay?" Skye questioned.
"No, but it felt good to get that out," Amelia replied.
"Look, no matter what happens in the near future, I'm not leaving your side," Skye said flying onto Amelia's shoulder and giving her an affectionate nuzzle with her bill.
"Thank you Skye," Amelia said with a smile.
She then looked at a framed picture that stood next to her computer. It was a picture of the five Elementals the day they moved into the house earlier in the year. Chelsea's dad had taken it despite all of Chelsea's complaints about the pictures her dad had already taken of the entire house. The five of them were standing on the front porch with their arms around each other. She noted how Jimmy was attempting to smile despite his always mellow and carefree demeanor, and how Samantha's smile looked very genuine despite the fact she hated have here picture taken. Then she looked at Chelsea, Bethany, and she in the picture, their smiles looked very goofy, very cheesy too.
"I'm sorry you guys," Amelia sad sadly. "I promise I'll fight to bring all of us a better future, one where we all can make our own life choices."
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Chelsea was sitting in her room writing in one of her journals.
"The last shard is finally collected. Samantha's group got it, but its way better than Morgause getting it. I know there are a lot of bad things yet to come. I need to be strong and prepare myself mentally and physically for the battle yet to come. I just hope that Samantha, Bethany, and Jimmy will be okay. I just miss them so much right now. I feel like I've been a horrible friend and cousin to all of them. For once I can't understand their feelings, and they'd reject my offers for comfort anyway. I know it's my fault for not sensing something off, but I can't help but blame grandpa for all his secrecy. I just hope those three know that I still love them no matter what. I hope we can win and find a way to be happy together again."
Chelsea put down her pen and closed her journal placed it on top of her bookshelf and sat with her hands folded in her lap.
"You're scared aren't you?" Arrow asked.
Chelsea looked down at her hands before looking her familiar in the eye.
"I'm terrified Arrow," Chelsea said. "What if we don't make it out alive? I'm too young to die, we all are."
"You can't think like that now," a familiar voice declared.
Chelsea looked to see Grandpa Merlin standing in front of her bed.
"What are you doing here?" Chelsea asked spitefully.
"Can't I come and talk to my granddaughter?" Grandpa asked.
"I'm pretty sure I made it clear that I didn't want to see you," Chelsea stated.
"Chelsea, please I…" Grandpa began.
"No, I'm not listening to your bullshit anymore!" Chelsea yelled. "You lied through your teeth to us about so many things. You kept secrets from us, you treated us like we were nothing but weapons, and you lied to Samantha. She didn't have a damn choice, because you decided she had to be fire! Samantha sacrificed so much for all of us, and I never realized just how much she was suffering for us until it was too late! You caused a rift between all of us!"
"I didn't want this to happen," Grandpa declared.
"Well you could have taken actions to prevent that," Chelsea stated. "Starting with giving Samantha a choice!"
"Chelsea, I don't want to get into this," Grandpa stated. "I just want to tell you that you need to be prepared physically and mentally."
"Well, I will be," Chelsea declared. "Remember this though Grandpa, I'm not doing this for you. I'm doing this for the people around me that I love, and for our futures."
"Very well then, goodbye Chelsea," Grandpa said before disappearing.
"How'd that feel Chelsea?" Arrow asked.
"Good in a way, but why am I still sad?" Chelsea asked. "Will it ever go away?"
Arrow hopped onto the bed and into Chelsea's lap. Chelsea hugged her familiar tightly.
"I want it all back," Chelsea whispered sadly.
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
The next day
Chelsea decided she needed some time to distress on her own, so she went to the mall. Neville had asked her if she wanted him to come with her, but she had told she needed some time on her own, and assured him they would do something together later. She felt bad about it at first because she knew her boyfriend was worried, but she needed alone time right now; it's not like she was shutting him out.
Anyway, she was currently sitting outside at one of tables drinking a Starbucks green tea fappuccino. Normally she drank hot tea to distress, but it was way too hot for hot tea today. In fact it was so hot that she was wearing a cropped teal halter top, light high-waisted denim shorts, and white flip-flops.
No one else was currently outside though and the quite was something that always bothered her. So she decided to pull out her IPod and listen to some music. She decided to go without her earbuds since no one else was around. When she hit shuffle the song that came on was Au Revoir by Cascada.
Chelsea remembered how Samantha was the one who really got her into Cascada. She had heard a lot of their songs before, but didn't really look into anything that she didn't see on an anime video on YouTube, or that she heard on the radio. Samantha showed her a lot of other songs that she actually found out she liked, and this was one of them. She took a deep breath and started to sing.
A few feet away Samantha was walking by with a Barnes and Noble bag in her hand. She was wearing black lace up synthetic leather halter corset bustier top
, black cut-offs, and her black and red converse boots. She noticed Chelsea singing. She started stepping toward, but then she stepped back, and then she did the same thing. It took her a few seconds of hesitation started walking toward Chelsea.
"Dammit," she muttered.
Everything you say is so predictable
Your words don't mean a thing
Blah blah blah
Why the masquerade?
You think you're funny but you never entertain
Ha ha-ha ha-ha
Suddenly Chelsea heard a familiar voice start to sing the pre-chorus. She turned to see that Samantha was standing only a few feet away from the table and that she was the one singing along. Was she actually reaching out to her?
Samantha: I'll never be your appetiser melting on your tongue
Here's the simple truth boy you just don't turn me on
Both: So you think you're something special oh-oh-oh
And you claim to be the next best movie star
So superficial oh-oh-oh
I don't buy your show
Au revoir
Chelsea: Bye bye bye
Samantha: Au-au-au-au-au-au revoir
Au revoir
Chelsea: Bye bye bye
Samantha: Au-au-au-au-au-au revoir
Au revoir
Samantha: Always center stage
Not ashamed to say
You're fishing for the fame
Ah ah-ah ah-ah
Boy you're not a saint
Not irresistible in any kinda way
Ah ah-ah ah-ah
Chelsea: I'll never be your appetizer melting on your tongue
Here's the simple truth boy you just don't turn me on
Both: So you think you're something special oh-oh-oh
And you claim to be the next best movie star
So superficial oh-oh-oh
I don't buy your show
Au revoir
Let's keep it confidential oh-oh-oh
Boy you wanna show the world how cool you are
No no potential oh-oh-oh
I don't buy your show
Chelsea: Boy, you're not breaking the ice
Hey, stop telling me lies
You're not one of a kind
Hey, stop telling me lies
Samantha: Au revoir
Chelsea: Bye bye bye
Samantha: Au-au-au-au-au-au revoir
Au revoir
Chelsea: Bye bye bye
Samantha: Au-au-au-au-au-au revoir
Au revoir
Both: You think you're something special
And you claim to be the next best movie star
So superficial
I don't buy your show
Au revoir
Let's keep it confidential oh-oh-oh
Boy you wanna show the world how cool you are
No no potential oh-oh-oh
I don't buy your show
Au revoir
Chelsea: Bye bye bye
Samantha: Au-au-au-au-au-au revoir
Au revoir
Chelsea: Bye bye bye
Samantha: Au-au-au-au-au-au revoir
Au revoir
Once the song ended Chelsea hit pause on her IPod. After a few seconds of very awkward silence she finally spoke.
"Hey," She said.
"Yo," Samantha replied.
"I haven't seen you since yesterday," Chelsea confirmed.
"Yeah," Samantha replied.
A few more seconds, of awkward silence went by.
"Look, Samantha, I have something to say to you," Chelsea stated. "You can leave after, or I'll leave but please hear me out. I know that this is probably the last thing you want to hear, but I'm sorry."
"You're right, that is the last thing I want to hear," Samantha confirmed.
"I really am sorry though," Chelsea continued. "I know that the damage that Grandpa caused is inerasable, but I was stupid for not being able to see that something was wrong. I let all my emotions blind me. A member of my family was hurting, and I didn't help."
Samantha was silent for only a few seconds. "Okay, first of all, blood has almost nothing to do with family," she stated. "You didn't try once to do anything to make it better."
"What was I supposed to do Samantha?" Chelsea backfired. "It's not like I could have just come knocking on your door and beg you for forgiveness. You had no plans of letting us know where you were, and you would have just shut me right out, you always do, and yet, I've stuck with you all these years. Not because I had to, but because I wanted to."
"Come on Chelsea, I know that's only half true," Samantha declared. "You stuck by me and the others because we were the only ones who you could talk about the trauma we all went through together. If we talked to anyone else about it, we would have been sent to the loony bin."
"You're right," Chelsea said looking down at the ground not wanting Samantha to see her tears for once. "I'm sorry Samantha; I see this is going nowhere. I'll leave you alone now, goodbye."
Chelsea grabbed her things and practically sprinted back toward the parking lot and into her car. She locked her doors and started sobbing. If there was ever a time she felt weak for being emotional it was now.
"Will we ever be happy again?" She whispered.
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Hi, long time no see! Things are going down from here on out. The Elementals have to be prepared for the worst, and they're really feeling all the pain now. Big thanks as usual to my coauthor DevilDragon8 for all these awesome ideas. Please review if you can. We appreciate your input. See you in the next chapter!
