"UGGGGGG….where am I?!" I groaned and sat up.

Suddenly, my memory kicked in. I quickly looked at my hands to make sure they weren't still made of smoke. They were solid. I sighed in relief and studied my surroundings.

I was in a concrete room, only dressed up with a small desk, a bookshelf (no books, just random objects and spare parts) Next to my small twin-sized bed was a nightstand, and on top sat a bowl of soup.

When I tried to pick it up, my pale hands begun to shake and wobble. I really hadn't realized how hungry I was. After I finished it, I pushed off my bed. My legs shook momentarily, then steadied themselves as I walked to the metal door.

Once opened, the doorway revealed two other rooms, this time with wooden doors. Only once I looked closely, I could see another door made of metal like my own.

I walked up to the door. On it was a sign that read;

DO NOT ENTER

DUE TO THE RISK OF COMBUSTION, DEATH AND

BEING BLINDED BY MY AWESOMENESS!

Sounds dangerous I thought. I didn't know if I was being sarcastic or not.

I opened the door, and was blinded by all the sunlight entering the room.

I was inside a wooden warehouse type-thing, maybe a large barn. Old lawn mowers, microwaves, electronic can openers, printers, computers, and TVs lay around in piles on the ground, half taken apart on workbenches, and sorted (partly) in drawers. Sunlight poured out the dusty windows and skylights, and random spills of oil and paint dotted the concrete floor, I even passed the pile of paint cans I had knocked over as I made my way to the open doors of the barn. Exept now they were stacked in the corner again.

As I slowly made my way to the front, (after viciously whispering a few words I am not proud of after I stepped on a nail) I realized I wasn't alone in here.

Up in the front, I could make out two figures, one boy and a man were talking over a lawnmower. (Not the riding kind)

"…It was just a broken air filter. Its normally really hard to tell if it breaks due to the fact it will run without it, but it wont be long until its absence causes the internal pieces to break down. " The boy said, running a hand through his hair, running his hands up and down the lawnmower handle, tapping his feet.

"You are truly amazing Leo! " The man said, loading up the mower in the back of his truck.

"Always a pleasure! See ya later!" The boy, Leo, said.

"What makes you think I will be coming back?" The man said playfully.

"You can try, but you can't stay away from this much awesome!" He said back. "Besides, you have reservations for Calypso's tavern tonight!"

I rolled my eyes, but the man started laughing and slapping his knee.

"Your always a laugh Leo. Will I see you at the tavern later on?" He asked, getting in his car.

"You may." Leo said. I could only see his back, but I knew he was smiling.

He stared waving to the man as he begun to pull out of the long gravel driveway.

"Hey." I said to him as he turned to walk back in the building.

Leo's eyes widened, then took a surprised stepped backwards and tripped over a glass bottle and fell on his butt. I laughed, nut my voice came out cracked and rusty. I stopped in confusion. My voice sounded like I hadn't used it in years. Leo stood up.

"You startled my girl! What's your name?" He asked, getting up.

"Amel-I mean Alassandra-I mean….I don't know…"I said, remembering last night.

"Hello AmelalassandraIdontknow! My name is Leo brought you to my workshop?" Leo asked.

"Umm…well…..Its long story. A really long story…"

"Well, I don't have an appointment until 3 o'clock to fix Mrs. Venti's coffee maker, so I have time!" He said, excitedly (or did he just have a lot of energy?) and walked over to a workbench and began working on an old antenna radio and gestured for me to sit on a wooden shipping crate. I did.

I told him my story. It couldn't hurt right? He had seen me almost turn to smoke… So I told him about arriving at Camp Half-Blood, Katy and her cute lisp, my friends, Izzy, Caroline and Cristina, Truth or Dare beach nights, my sword bracelet-

"Can I see it?!" Leo said excitedly.

"Uh…sure?!" I said nervously, and commanded it to open.

He took it from my hands eagerly, and I warned him to watch out for the blade. I begun to talk again but Leo interrupted.

"My old bro Jason had a sword just like this, but his was a coin." He said, and pushed off the desk, his roller chair zooming over to another workbench, where he begun to sharpen and polish the blade.

"Wait. You have a demigod friend?" I said in surprise, walking over to his other workbench excitedly.

"Uh-huh. I am a demigod to." He set my sword down and lit his hands on fire, then turned back to his work.

"OHMYYGODS. Hecate? No. Hephaestus-but how does that work…none of you siblings that I know of can do that!"

"Your right. Hephaestus." When he said this, the threw his arms wide at the workshop. "Luckily I am good-looking enough to make up for my godly side." He winked, and went back to sharpening.

I had to yell over the sound of the grinding.

"WAIT. ARE YOU LEO VALDEZ, AS IN THE LEO VALDEZ?! THE DEMIGOD SON OF HESPHASTUS THAT SAVEDOLYMPUS AND BROUGHT PEACE TO BOTH THE CAMPS?!" I yelled, and Leo shut the sharpener.

"Shhhh!" He said, looking out the large double doors to the street. " They said that about me?! " Leo turned to face me ,and I saw that his once happy eyes had became sad.

"They also said you died in a fiery inferno above Camp Half-Blood!" I said, and gave him a quick up-and-down, as if to make sure he did not suddenly turn into a ghost.

"How are you still alive?! Are you a ghost? No….you are alive. Gods. I am a freak of nature, I can actually sense your life energy….but there is something off…" I trailed.

"Physician's cure. 'An oath to keep with final breath'. That's me. I swore on the River Styx I would get Calypso off of Ogygia . And I did!" He said, the memory of him rescuing her bringing back some of the fun energy in his eyes.

"Calypso? Is that the girl that was with you? Where is she?" I asked.

"Gods girl, you ask to many questions! She is at the diner hooked to the other side of this 'ol shed. Do you think I am playing a CD with all these people talking?!"

I listened closely, and I could hear the clinking of forks and plates, the tink! Of ice cubes on glass cups, the murmur of people, the occasional groups of women and/or men laughing. The sounds of life.

"Chicken soup is on special today, and people come from all over to get her soup. The mayor even came once or twice!" Leo said, breaking the silence. His eyes were filled with a happy sadness.

"You love her, don't you?" I asked, and he looked at me startled.

"Here you are asking me about my love life when I don't even know your name! " Leo laughed.

"Answer my question!"

"You answer mine first!"

"My name is Amelia."

"OOH! No last name. Mysterious!" Leo wiggled his fingers in my face jokingly. "But yes. I love her."

"How coincidental is this?! I could randomly appear in any house, and I just so happen to appear in the home of the undead savior of Olympus and his immortal girlfriend!" I said, changing the subject.

"Seems like fate huh?"

"Who is your godly parent anyway?" Leo asked. "You never told me." In the distance, the sun was setting, casting its fiery glow across the Texas sky.

"He-I mean-Hades." I said calmly.

"You stuttered." He said, more a question than a statement.

"I was claimed by Hecate, I told you that. But yesterday, at camp, Hades claimed me, and told me I was Bianca di Angelo's twin sister."

Leo eyed my green tank top and my flower print shorts questioningly. "Is 'goth kids R us" out of sock or something?" He asked. But I noticed he was avoiding something.

"Not all Hades kids are like that you know." I said, crossing my arms and turning away slightly.

"I thought since you were Nico's older sister….wait. how would that even work? You were born before him….but he went out of the casino earlier than you did….How would that even work?"

"I try not to think about it."

After a moments silence, Leo said quickly,

"You have no idea how long you were out, do you?" He asked, turning towards my adjusted posture.

"I dunno….i was thinking a day or two, but obviously I was out for longer."

"What makes you think that?'

"Your tone of voice was….dont try to change the subject!"

"Um…."

" .out."

"Sixmonths!"

"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!"
