I don't own the works of Nakamura Shungiku.
Here is more of Year 2 and we're about where the original starts at.
January; Oh, my other authors, they...:
"Thank you so much for putting faith in me!" The shy young brunette woman bows, and then up straight to push up her glasses.
"Really, it's no problem, Mizune-san," Ritsu says, walking down with her to a café. Recently with her first book, she had become in the top 10 at 5, which had her and Ritsu happy and satisfied.
"So," She begins as they sit down to chat more as she takes out some material to give him. They decide to sit outside at the border closest to the sidewalk. "Um... I don't want to be rude or anything, Onodera-san..."
"What is it?"
"You... you've been p-paying a lot of attention to me- n-no-not like in a romantic way! Just," she blushes slightly in embarrassment. "Why is that? D-did something happen with your other authors?"
"Oh." Ritsu stirs his hot chocolate a bit. "They're on hiatus right now, actually."
"E-eh..? Really?"
He nods. "Kazuto-san is doing something music related at the moment, and my other, s-he, he's just really busy. I actually made him go into hiatus on our end."
"Wow, I hope that author is watching his health."
"We all made sure to keep tabs on him," his phone dings in signal, "Actually-" He brings out his arm to grab ahold of the dark haired 'man' that tried to run past him, "Here he is!" Ritsu squeezes Satomi hard on the arm, "Running again?"
"Haha..." Satomi laughs shakily, wincing at his hold, in her Satoshi voice, "Y-yeah..."
'Wah... Onodera-san doesn't look like it, but he seems strong...' thought Mizune-san as she watched a longer haired brunette that was Sumiko take Satomi away to take her back to the show rehearsal she was supposed to be at.
January; Just hanging out:
Miyagi continued his grading on his couch, occasionally taking out and replacing his cigarettes.
"Seriously?!" Raising a brow at the voice, he turned to Shinobu.
"What is it now, Shinobu-chin?"
"You're not even half-way finished with that and those other 20! You're wasting them!"
He shrugs in response, looking back to his papers to grade. "My money, my problem, I suppose."
Scoffing, Shinobu went back to reading the novel Kazuto wrote. It had placed 2nd to Akihiko's novel in the first of this year.
"It's going to be cold this weekend." Shinobu stated.
"Oh?"
"Are... Are you still going to go?"
"Of course. I've always gone." After a pause, Miyagi looks back up at the calendar on the wall away from them. "Want to come with?"
"What an honor," Shinobu says sarcastically. "Wouldn't she be questioning why you brought your ex's little brother with you?"
"Nope. I think she'd find it amusing, actually."
A moment of silence later, Shinobu takes out his hand to Miyagi. "You owe me 500 yen."
"For what?"
"You and Sis were married about 2 years. So I win. And Kamijou- you have to give him a day off."
Sighing deeply, Miyagi shook his head and went back to grading.
Shinobu scowls, looking through his book. "Kamijou already does most of the work anyway."
Now Miyagi scoffs. "A lie!"
"Nuh-uh."
"Uh-huh it is a lie! Actually, when that giant comes by, everyday at noon, it all goes to me."
"That is not true! I'm there like half the time, and Kamijou is working more. All I see you do is look through scrolls and drink your green tea."
"Because unlike Kamijou, I finish my work as soon as it comes in! He's just slow."
"Oh? Hmm..." Shinobu takes out his cell phone.
Miyagi stiffens. "W-who are you calling there?"
"Just Kami-" he dodges as Miyagi tries to take the phone from him and laughs. "Ha, no way you can get me, old man!" He goes running into the kitchen with Miyagi hurrying after him.
And for some reason, the word 'fun' comes fondly to the older man's mind as he chases down the sandy haired male.
February; How does he...?:
"You can't hide here forever, Akihiko-san," Misaki scowls at the man on his bed playing on his DS. "Isaka-san and Aikawa-san are going to figure it out."
"No they won't-" Akihiko paused, frowning at his video game. "Misaki. What happens after I beat the Fire Ox?"
"Just play along with the dialogue," Misaki answers, at his desk reading Kazuto's book. The characters vaguely reminded him of someone that wasn't him...
"You said this was in a series?"
"Uh, yeah- like Battle Network, or Advent and all that..."
Frowning that Misaki was only paying half-attention to him, Akihiko sat up, staring at the book in his hands.
"He turns out to be a spirit away from his body that is actually at the hospital. He doesn't remember anything about his lover but he knows by instinct and they decide to continue their relationship by starting over again. And happily ever after."
"...huh?" Misaki looks up at him, oblivious of his blatant spoiling. "Did you say something?"
Akihiko attacks him. Or at least tries.
...
"Ne, Misaki, Akihiko-kun..." Mother Kanae walks by with some laundry. "What should..." she trails off, blinking at what she saw in the room.
"Why..." She regards them in concern. "Why are you two covered in yarn?"
Misaki glares in triumph at Akihiko. "He was going to pull something on me, but I remembered the yarn I had on the desk for this thing Succhan wanted me to do so I retaliated."
"I see..." She looks to Akihiko, who just sat there on the bed, covered in yarn and looking lost as he couldn't comprehend what just happened.
"Well, okay." She decides for the best to just walk away, remembering for the first time in a while that Akihiko was a older man playing with her youngest. For some odd reason, Akihiko still seems like a child to her when she sees him like that with Misaki.
February; Valentines of the Past:
Yawning, Masamune followed after Takafumi as they walked out of his apartment and into the elevator.
But not before leaving a letter and a teddy bear holding a smaller love note and a package of variety chocolate. Seeing his gestures, Takafumi scoffs at the cheesiness before wishing him luck on his endeavors.
...
"Whew..." Ritsu took a deep breath as he stepped off the elevator and yawned. Working on Valentines was rather tiring, especially for helping out at events and that music one Kazuto wanted him to help in.
'That was so embarrassing!' Ritsu fumed, his arms occupied by a basket of chocolate. 'I just played a little guitar! Just a little! Maybe two or three songs! And yet they announced me as part of his band, like why?!'
'And then they forced me in that mini game and I won 3rd...' He looked down at a particular chocolate shaped like a bear. 'Maybe Misaki might want this...? Or any of the girls...'
He stopped once he saw the teddy bear with the love note. And the envelope next to it with his name.
With a glance around once, he opened the door to his apartment and stepped around the fluff to put up his basket of chocolate and everything before coming back outside to the hall.
The bear was fairly large, maybe 2 feet; it had dark fur all over with light brown eyes. Ritsu bit back from commenting at how familiar it looked to a certain someone, and instead he just gave it a small smile and a shake of the head.
"I guess I'll just name you Masakumo..." With that he carried it, the note, and the letter inside to sit on the couch. He looked up at his wall clock; he had another hour and a half before he had to go pick up Maeko and take her with him to the Valentine get-together at this cafe Sumiko set up.
...
'Freaking 12AM...' Masamune thought, a little grumpy for sleep. If he saw one more manuscript, he was going to freak and throw things he had on him.
Sighing, he took out his keys and moved to open his door until his eyes caught something and looked to see a white bear on the ground sitting on some chocolate.
It was about the size of the one he had gotten for Ritsu. His lips curved up into a smile seeing that it had green eyes.
Then seeing the note taped on its stomach, he removed it to read:
Happy Valentines Day!
Please take care - Ritsu
Smiling, he took his gift inside, spending the rest of the night lonely but strangely happy.
February; Valentines Get-Together:
"Thank you for the invite," Miyagi said, a little stiffly as he felt a little over-aged.
"No problem, Youchan!" Sumiko says, clipping a daisy on him.
"The divorce actually took a toll on him," Shinobu says, grabbing a hold on his arm. He feigned a cry. "I hear him crying from my house every ni-"
"Shinobu!" Miyagi scolds. "I do not!"
"Yo, Yogi!" Satomi goes up to him, not caring that he was recognizing the actress with his wide eyes. "Hand over Shinobu-chin!"
He startled at the name. "Y-yogi?"
Shinobu hid a little behind Miyagi. "He needs me and my friendship!"
Satomi regarded Miyagi darkly. "Oh? So you used your divorced status to entangle my little Shinobu-chin in your web of... books?"
"Hah?!"
"You and me, old man!" Satomi glares. "Let's drink!"
Shuddering from memory of being hugged against her chest, Shinobu shakes his head furiously, "Nooo!" and began dragging Miyagi away to safety.
...
"Leaving already?" Hiroki stiffens, caught while Nowaki was just a little startled as Ritsu approached. "An-chan and Kazuto-san were among the first and now you two."
"Roki!" Maeko chirps from behind Ritsu. She happily hands out a little chocolate bunny. "Happy Valentines!"
"W-wha..." Hiroki looks to his boyfriend in disbelief.
"How cute!" Nowaki laughs, watching as Hiroki slowly takes it into his hands. "You're actually the first child to give him one, Maeko-chan."
"Really?" she says, in awe, before rushing to hug Hiroki. "I love you!"
"Whoa!" Ritsu lightly scolds her as he pulls her away from her surprise hug. "You're 5 and he's taken."
"Not for long," She says, her chest puffed up in defiance as she glared Nowaki up.
All Nowaki could do however, was laugh, especially at how red his lover was and how adorable Maeko was being. Ritsu laughs along before raising a brow as Maeko takes out a wrapped chocolate from her coat pocket, handing it to Nowaki.
"For me?" Nowaki said, surprised.
"Obligation!" Maeko said, sure that she said the word right before adding, unsure, "I heard you wanted a puppy so I tried to make it look like one."
Chuckling, Nowaki ruffles her short hair. "Thank you, Maeko-chan."
She huffs while she tries to fix her hair, crossing her arms instead when Ritsu decides to fix it. "I hope you guys have a nice Valentines," she pouts, already knowing her battle was a lost one but she still really loved Hiroki. Seeing Hiroki silent she cocks her head to the side. "Are you okay, Roki?"
"Y-y-yeah..." He stutters out, before hesitating for the longest time. Finally, he goes to awkwardly pat her a couple of times on her head. "Thank you..."
He goes redder in embarrassment when she beams at him brightly, hugging him fast before running off into her brother's arms and giggling.
"Should we go now, Hiro-san?" Nowaki asks, smiling at him. With a nod, they say their farewells and head out.
...
Akihiko sipped his wine as he watched his older brother try to feed Sumiko some cake. It was so strange seeing him at a party, more or less seeing him try to feed someone. "I thought you had a lot of work." He says to them, helping Sumiko out of her feeding.
"I had help," Haruhiko replies simply.
Sumiko looks between the both of them. "You guys think your father will like me?"
"If he doesn't, who cares?" Akihiko says, sipping more wine. "The rest of us like you."
"Come on, Aki," Sumiko says, "He's still your father." She thinks for a moment. "Actually, I might slap him."
"That's great."
"No, not like, purposely slap him... Like," She looks away to stare at Misaki while he pours himself more punch. "...I scold you guys." She looks at Haruhiko. "Do get mad when I flick you or anything like that?"
"No."
"What abou-" He manages to get cake in her mouth.
Giving his brother a look, Akihiko plays with his empty wine glass a little. "Why do you like feeding her?" Even back then, he could see that his brother seemed to have a thing for feeding her after she started it, but she only started it once.
Haruhiko gave him a look of 'why should I tell you' before trying again to give Sumiko another piece of cake.
"Usamimi-Aki!" He looked to see Satomi calling him over and left the couple, much to Sumiko's little distress.
"What?"
She brought him close. "Distract Yogi so I can take Shinobu-chin."
"...How about I," he leaves her off at that as he grabs a passing Misaki and goes off.
"Nee-chan!" Reika walks over with Aito. "Why do you want Shinobu?"
"I just want a hug~ Why can't a sister get a hug around here?"
...
"Ah, Misaki, Akihiko-kun!" They turn to see the Takahashi parents after Akihiko had narrowly avoided Satomi. Kanae continued, "Akihiko-kun, could Misaki stay with you tonight?" She didn't need to explain. Takahiro had disappeared earlier with someone (no one was paying enough attention to see) so it was figured he'd be out for the rest of the Valentine Day.
"My pleasure," Akihiko answers with a smile, while Misaki gapes in the background, pale as his father gives in an uncharacteristic wink.
'NO WAY!' Misaki thought, 'Don't leave me with him!'
Then he falters. 'But... It's their night to be alone...'
'But they're leaving me with Akihiko-san! And they don't-' Then he saw it. He saw it as his parents said their goodbyes for the night.
His own mother freaking winking at him. Freaking. Winking.
'NO WAY!' He gapes. 'IS EVERYBODY DRUNK OR SOMETHING?!'
...
"I know that you have some extra shirts, so I'll be borrowing that," Misaki says, nervous, as he goes in first into the home that was Akihiko's living space. "And I'll be-"
"What was that?!" Misaki exclaims as Akihiko fell on him, landing them half-way across between the couch and the stairs. "Akihiko-san?!" Hearing no response Misaki was skeptical; getting up out from under him Misaki turned to the man, prodding him hard on the arm before realizing that the man was indeed knocked out. With some struggle, he manages to get Akihiko up to his room and on the bed.
Misaki had managed just to take off his tie and sock, flustered with the thought of taking off the man's shirt and pants. 'It's fine if he just sleeps like this, right?'
'He must really be tired...' he thought, walking out to the guest room remembering that there was indeed a bed in there, so he could just forget about the couch.
The next day, Misaki recalled that he had decided to take a morning shower instead. He made a move to get up before he realized that he couldn't move. "What..."
Once faced with Akihiko's sleeping one, Misaki jolts before panicking, as he didn't want to risk waking up the man who doesn't wake up well. 'When did he get in here?!'
"Did you think I would actually let you go sleep by yourself?" He turned quickly to see a wide awake and smirking Akihiko.
"Y-you're awake?!" He tried to get out of his hold. "Let go!"
"Why? We both don't have anything in particular going on at this moment," Akihiko sighed as he brought Misaki closer. "You're warm."
Seeing that Akihiko was still in yesterday's clothes Misaki tried to escape. "We have to take a shower- separately!" he added that quickly upon seeing Akihiko's suggestive glance. By just barely, he somehow pushed out from Akihiko's arms and headed out the room. "I'll take one first!"
All that could be heard once during the shower running was Akihiko's sigh of frustration.
- Sorry, didn't realize how potentially long this was going to be. Next is March, April, May, and August.
Then the rest.
