Some morning after chapter 13.
A golden eye pops open into the dark. Its owner suddenly feeling far more awake then just moments ago.
'Sunrise.' Azula thought to herself as she looked around into the dark room. It seemed to prove her theory wrong but they were probably just on the wrong side of the island.
They, as in the fire bender and the warm soft feminine body that was wrapped around her. Sometimes Azula believed that Korra just kept her around only because Naga could not fit in the bed. But she supposed that the last couple of days had proved that Korra did love her, all the real her. It was still an odd feeling not having to keep her normal web of lies together, but it was nice.
'Worth it.' Azula thought to herself as she stroked the tan arm resting across her, causing it to shiver slightly.
Azula found herself in the same dilemma as nearly every other morning. Part of her wanted to remain in bed and part of her was warning that she was wasting time. That she should be training with the rising sun. It was an older part of her mind that had kept her alive and free for a long time.
But there was a body pressed against her and it was warm and soft and did not like being disturbed so early in the morning.
But today her inner voice was to strong and she slowly disentangled herself and made her way out of the room.
The sun was barley up but Azula could already feel it would still be a while before Tenzin and the air-benders got up so Azula was alone. Alone and full of doubts.
Doubts about how her life was going and how t got there. The same voice in her head that compelled her to come out here also got stronger when she was alone. It gave voice to those doubts and told her there was only one way to fix them.
Right now she listened to it and began to go though forms and maneuvers with her normal perfection as blue flame blazed around her. Despite her activity her mind was racing as doubts raged around inside her.
Doubts about her perfection, it was an old doubts but it always nagged on her. Today, her inner voice said, she was betraying herself for even questioning whether to train.
It didn't matter what Korra new about her she still knew that if all else fails her bending had to be perfect. She had to be the best and if that meant spending less time with Korra, so be it. She didn't want to hurt Korra but she didn't want the distraction she needed to focus.
A blast of orange though to her side grabbed her minds attention. She was standing in stance and had punched in front of her, and beside her was Korra. Azula looked confused and Korra gave a wink.
Curious Azula looked forward again and continued her training, her new shadow going though the same moves behind her. To her credit Korra was keeping up but was not as sharp as Azula was.
Still it was…different training with someone else. Someone who kept up all the way to the end.
When she was done Azula took a moment to breathe and to think.
"Haven't done that in awhile." Korra said with a yawn.
"If you want to be the best you have to practice." Azula said methodically, as a test.
Korra walked over to stand in front of Azula. "Yeah but when you got four elements to master it's nice to try and sleep in."
Azula remained neutral, thinking about her doubts from before. "Sorry to ruin your morning."
Korra only chuckled. "No it wasn't ruined. When I turned over and you weren't there I was worried but it was nice being out here with you. I like watching you bend."
Azula caught herself smile slightly before going back to natural. "I use to train like this every morning I could. I would like to try and do that again."
"Nice, I will join you sometimes if I'm not too tried. Maybe if I do, I will get blue fire!" Korra said with a smile stretching out her hand and leaning back towards the temple.
Azula had been worried that her need for bending perfection would get in the way of her and Korra but it seemed that it only brought them a little closer. She let her relief show with a smile as she took Korra's hand.
"You said you have been mastering four elements." Azula mentions as they walked into the temple.
"Yep." Korra said sounding tired.
"Cant you still not air-bend?" Azula noted.
Korra stopped walking and stuck her tongue out at Azula. Azula smirked and as Korra pulled it back in she leaned forward and kissed her.
No the next chapter is not done but don't worry its getting there but I just wanted to let you all know I'm still here. And the bonus chapter here is because I always get excited when i follow a story and theres a new chapter then it turns into this kinda message.
