Helleh's POV
Trying to overcome the power and fear that surrounds us, Maka and Soul link hands, and Soul goes into weapon form. The Kishin and I can see her trembling. Slowly, I approach her from behind and put a hand on her shoulder. I wasn't sure if it was my hand anymore- all I saw was a cloud of scarlet red madness. Her adrenaline pumped her more and more, and I stood beside her, ready to fight alongside. Instead, she whispers to me.
"Helleh, stand back. Soul and I can take care of this."
"But you just came back! Maka, you can't do this alone!" I exclaimed.
"You don't even have your weapons. You, Daniel, Devon, Kid, Liz, Patty, Black Star, and Tsubaki already did a lot for us. It's our turn to fight for you guys."
"Please, Helleh, sweetheart. It'd make me feel better." Hearing Soul's words made me loosen my grip. I sighed and smiled in return. "Go ahead," I whispered. In an instant, Soul transforms. Maka charges on and is countered with a blunt blow by the Kishin. At this rate, and this level of battle, she has to-. She's created Kishin Hunter, without me! I and everyone watching the phenomenon were in complete awe of this achievement. She charged towards the Kishin with her weapon, but...
"MAKA!" I yell. Soon, the blade shattered and the two repelled back. I ran towards them with the Kishin strolling behind. He opened his lethal mouth and attacked. Maka and I both squirmed in face of our doom. When the blow arrived, we weren't hit. In hesitance, we opened our eyes only to realize Soul took the hit himself. He falls down onto us, passed out.
Soul... this was unforgivable. Neither I nor Maka could stand this. As I hold Soul in my embrace, Maka runs out to fight the Kishin. Aimlessly hitting blow after blow, she loses conscious, but continues to fight. From that, she transforms to be partially weapon form. Just before hopes got too high, Asura noticed the strength she had gained and took that out of her.
"There is now way for you to defeat me," the Kishin says.
"I feel relieved," Maka replies. With that, the Kishin became nervous. One by one, the fallen friends raise their heads to agree that, Maka, though a small, normal person, has the courage, to fight fear. The concept seemed so absurd to the Kishin. His mind boggled; he was confused. Actually, he was the one who was becoming afraid.
At this moment, I smiled. I smiled so naturally that my conscience was surprised. Slowly, I stepped away from Soul, letting him lie on the ground. Now, it seemed that only my face wasn't engulfed in madness. Each step I took was heavy now, as the madness forces all movement to be lethargic. Despite everything, I walk towards a high pile of rubble and began to climb it. Stone after stone, I rise up and scan the perimeters. By now, Asura has completely lost his mind. He sweats all over, and his pupils are practically invisible. I smile at his confusion. Courage. It's the power that we all hold, and yet it's so frightening when used against ourselves. Along the growth and suspension caused by the Kishin, the madness crept around my face. My sight seemed to lessen, but I was calm. I don't know why but I was not worried at all. I shut my eyes. I pray for the success of Maka, and the safety of my friends, and the world. Let the world be free from madness, like I am born.
I raise my hands, what's left of them, in front of me. I manage to produce a few sparks of my soul wavelength. Slowly, it formed into a current and soon a soft, glowing globe formed.
"Soul Release." I whisper. The light in my hands become warm. In front of my shut eyes is no longer the red I had seen before. It is now a vibrant light that blinds even me right now. It emits off my body.
I lose all sense of existence.
