Several months had passed, and Nathan stood in the middle of a kitchen, barking orders at the other chefs. After they had returned home, Nathan and Molly set out immediately to rebuild the cabin. The other guys had helped them, and in no time the cabin was restored back to its former glory, with the exception of a few modifications Nathan had added. The crew had decided they like Nathan's plan about what times of the year that they would sail on the Sirius, and went back to their own houses back on the island. Morgan had even found a place in town to live, even though he still traveled quite often.
With the remainder of his portion of the money they'd received as a reward, Nathan had decided to open his own restaurant in town. Molly had really been the one to encourage him to open the restaurant, as Nathan had always expressed a desire to someday open his own place. The rest of the town had recovered from James's attack, and was now a thriving place. Nathan's restaurant was the hit of the town, and was often quite busy. Nathan worked double as the owner and the head chef, and quite enjoyed his work.
Up the street, Christopher used his portion of the reward to enlarge his clinic. He'd added another couple of rooms and a whole other floor to the clinic, making it the main health clinic for miles around. And with the help of Molly and Thomas, who worked there full time now, there was never down time. Russell and Eduardo had settled back into their own home, and were quite content working their old jobs back at port.
Nathan hung his apron on the hook and called out to one of his other chefs. "I'm going home for today. You guys can handle it from here." The other chef, a guy who had just recently started, waved at Nathan and told him to have a good evening. Nathan pulled his coat on, gathered his belongings and headed home.
Earlier that day, he'd picked up Molly a present that he'd found in the market not too long ago, and he was excited to give it to her. It was later in the afternoon, and he knew that she was probably also already on her way home from the clinic, as she usually worked there for the early shift. He treaded up the hill that lead to the cabin, tucking the box with her gift inside it in his pocket. As he made it to the top of the hill, he saw the lights already on inside, and knew she had beat him home again. He could see her in the window of the kitchen as she busied herself with some task, not seeing him as he ambled up to the front door.
He opened the door and stepped inside. "I'm home!" He called out, shutting the door behind him. He pulled his coat off and tossed it onto the nearby chair.
"Hey honey, I'm in here!" Molly called out back at him, her voice echoing from the kitchen. Nathan walked over to the kitchen and leaned against the door frame as she chopped up some vegetables on the counter. He smiled brightly at her as she turned to look at him, returning his smile.
"What are you doing?" He asked, stepping forward and hugging her from behind.
"I thought I'd try to make dinner for us before you got home." She replied, returning to chopping the vegetables. Nathan took his hands and pulled the knife gently from hers, placing it on the counter. He then turned her around, pulling her into his chest. He placed a gentle kiss against her lips.
"I have a present for you."
She raised an eyebrow at him. "Oh really?"
Nathan fished the box from his pocket and handed it from her. She looked at him curiously again as she took the box from his hand. She lifted the lid and looked down at the small necklace inside. She grinned up at him warmly as she pulled it from the box to look at it more closely. It was a tiny silver necklace with an anchor charm on it, looking a lot like the other necklace she'd had. It was more elegant, however, and she couldn't help but beam up at him as she held it in her hand. She stepped on her tip-toes and pressed her lips against his again.
"I love it!" She exclaimed.
"Read the back of it." Nathan instructed, smiling. Her eyes returned to the necklace and she turned the charm over in her hand, inspecting the back. In tiny letters, she could make out the words and she giggled wetly at him, feeling a tear drop from her eye.
"What's it say?" He asked coyly.
She flicked the tear away. "It says 'You are my anchor when the waves come crashing down'."
"You like it?"
She nodded. "It's beautiful. I love it so much!"
"I saw it and immediately thought of you. And I thought that it suited you." He motioned for her to turn, and he took the necklace from her hand. She obeyed and turned, lifting her hair as he clasped the small necklace around her neck.
She admired it when he finished and turned back around to look at him. "I especially love the words."
"Well it's true. You've always been there for me when it seems like the world is crashing down on us. I love you so much Molly." He whispered, pressing his lips against hers again. She smiled against his lips and pulled away slightly.
She grinned up at him. "I actually have a present for you as well."
Nathan knitted his eyebrows together. "You got me something?" Molly nodded, another tear trickling down her face as she smiled at him. She grabbed his hand and pressed it against her belly, holding it gently against the small bump beginning to develop. Nathan looked at her curiously for a moment, looking from her face to where his hand rested, before her action sunk in. He laughed and his hand shook against her belly as he looked down at her, pure joy lighting up his face.
"You mean…?"
Molly nodded slowly. "Two months." Nathan brought his hands up and cupped her face in his hands. He pressed kiss after kiss against her lips, her nose, her eyes. They laughed together as they held each other.
Nathan pressed his forehead against hers. "I'm so happy." He whispered.
"So am I." Molly whispered back, pressing her lips against his again.
