Author's Note: Hey, everybody! Guess what? This story is still alive! Yay! (Starts throwing streamers and gobbling down snacks and soft drinks) Okay, now that that's out of my system, I want to squeeze out a few more chapters, including a Halloween chapter, before Halloween itself. I'm gonna be cutting it close, though, so I'd better get started.

GREEN FEAR

At the Justice League's Satellite HQ, the Power Rangers were helping the Geo Rangers practice. Tommy, Adam, and Cody were matching each other move for move while Billy and Trini were helping Mark and Brendan. Kat and Aisha were patiently trying to help Karen while Rocky and Jenny worked with Al. Al did a series of moves and Rocky nodded in approval. "Good job, Al. Jason was right, you do catch on fast."

"Thanks," said Al with a nod. "So, what's next?"

"Now, we want you to try some more advanced techniques. That will help us measure how far along you are. Jenny, if you please?"

"Right," said Jenny with a nod. "Alright, Al, do what I do." She then did a series of quick punches and kicks, finished with a spinning thrust kick. "Now, you try."

Al nodded and attempted it. She tumbled and fell as she tried the spinning thrust kick. "Whoa!" cried Al in surprise as she landed on her butt. However, she quickly got back up and said, "I'm okay. A few more tries and I think I'll get it."

"No problem," said Rocky. "Practice makes perfect."

Sure enough, Al was able to get the moves down. After that, Jenny smiled and said, "Good. Now, let's see you put them to use. Ready?"

"Ready."

With that, Jenny went on the offensive, but the Red Fire Ranger managed to block or avoid the Green Ranger. Al then began to attack, but Jenny managed to match Al's defensive display. Finally, Jenny did a few more moves and this time, landed a spinning thrust kick right into Al's abdomen, dropping her to her knees. Jenny gasped and covered her mouth with her hands as Al sat there, holding her midsection and trying to catch her breath. The others immediately stopped what they were doing and went to check on her. "Al, are you okay?" asked Rocky.

"Yeah," answered Al with a nod. "She just knocked the wind out of me, that's all." Jenny sighed in relief as Al stood up. "Strong little thing, aren't ya?"

"I think that's enough for today, guys," said Tommy. "So, let's clean up and head home."

"And get our feet back on solid ground," added Brendan.

In the girl's shower room, Jenny was lacing up her shoes as she saw Al walk in, still in her workout clothes. Looking up at the older girl, Jenny asked, "Hey, Al, are you sure you're okay?"

"Of course, why wouldn't I be?" asked Al.

"Why are you still in your workout clothes? I thought you'd have already showered by now?"

Al smiled and responded, "Normally, I would be, but I got a call from Jason. He wanted to know if I wanted to go to the Padres game tonight since the Brewers are in town. He kept going on and on about how he was looking forward to taking me to my first West Coast ballpark. He already talked to dad and Carol and they said it was okay. I then got a call from dad and he said that J. T., Dana, Rich, and Sam are all going to be visiting for Christmas. Don't tell anyone I said this, but it will be good to see them all again."

Jenny chuckled and said, "My lips are sealed. Look, Al, I'm so sorry about what happened earlier," said Jenny. "I didn't mean to hurt you."

"It's no big deal," said Al with a shrug. "You've been doing martial arts a lot longer than I have, so it's not a problem. I just don't like to lose, you know what I mean?"

Jenny nodded before putting her communicator back on her wrist. She looked up again as Al took off her red tank top revealing her black sport bra underneath. And that was when she saw it: An ugly scar than ran across part of Al's midsection. Her eyes widened in horror as she quickly stood up and ran out of the shower room, surprising Al. "Jenny? Jenny, where you going?" Confused, Al asked, "What was that all about?"

Two days later, at Angel Grove Park, several people were enjoying themselves when two figures stepped out of the shadows. It was Darkonda and the Scarecrow. "Look at them," said Scarecrow. "Going about their happy lives."

"But not for much longer," added Darkonda. "Remember the plan?"

"Yes," answered Scarecrow. "Once everyone in this city is in a state of total fear, we'll hold this city for ransom."

"And then we force the authorities to turn control over this state to us," added Darkonda. "It will be just the first small step in conquering Earth!" The Scarecrow then pulled out a modified gun and began spraying his fear gas throughout the park. Before anyone knew it, the people were hallucinating their greatest fears and running in panic!

At the Youth Center, Jenny was practicing with Tommy for an upcoming tournament, but kept messing up. "Jenny, what's wrong? The tournament's tomorrow. You get this right all the time, what gives?"

"I'm sorry, I'm just having trouble concentrating. I can't make myself forget what I did to Al."

"To Al?" asked Tommy in confusion. "Jenny, all you did was knock the wind out her."

"Aw, is poor wittle Jenny afwaid?" asked a mocking voice.

Jenny turned to see a goth girl about her own age. Jenny sighed and said, "Hello, Abby." Abby was a bratty girl from Stone Canyon who seemed to hold a grudge against Jenny.

"I was watching you practice and I heard what you said about hurting someone" said Abby with a smirk. "Did you hurt a boy so badly that the other boys won't approach you?"

Jenny rolled her eyes and said, "For your information, I already have a boyfriend. Justin, remember? And second, Al is a girl. She a freshman at Angel Grove University and I hurt her while sparring a couple of days ago."

"So, you beat a novice, big deal," said Abby with a shrug. "Why don't you show me what you got with a real martial artist?" She smirked again and added, "That is, unless you're scared?"

Jenny stepped forward, but Tommy put a hand on her shoulder. "Jenny…"

"Tommy, please, don't," insisted Jenny. Seeing the look of pleading in her eyes, Tommy reluctantly backed off. The patrons looked on as Abby went on the attack. Jenny managed to block or dodge Abby's attempts, but was hesitant to go on the offensive herself. She couldn't hold out forever, though, as Abby finally managed to nail her with a tornado kick. Jenny held up her arms to block the kick, but the force of the blow took her down.

Abby crossed her arms in triumph and shook her head. "Pathetic. I got this in the bag."

Everyone watched as Abby walked away. Ernie then said, "Alright, people, nothing more to see here." The patrons began breaking up as Tommy helped Jenny to her feet. Once she was up, however, their communicators went off.

After gathering their things, Tommy and Jenny went to a secluded spot. "We read you, Alpha, what's up?"

"Zordon needs you in the Command Center," responded Alpha. "It's urgent!"

"We're on our way," said Jenny. She and Tommy then disappeared in streaks of white and green-colored light.

Once Tommy and Jenny got to the Command Center, they saw the other Rangers, the Geo Rangers, and a few of the Justice Leaguers in attendance. Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, the Flash, and surprisingly Batman were all there. "What's going on?" asked Tommy as he and his sister approached.

"See for yourselves," answered Green Lantern as he pointed towards the Viewing Globe.

"Darkonda," said Jenny hesitantly. "He's back."

"And he's teamed with the Scarecrow," added Batman. "And he's already started spreading his fear gas througout the city."

"YOU MUST PUT A STOP TO THEM," said Zordon. "ALPHA IS WORKING AS FAST AS HE CAN TO SYTHESIZE A LARGE AMOUNT OF THE ANTIDOTE TO SCARECROW'S FEAR GAS."

"Will the fear gas affect us after we morph?" asked Mark.

"IT WOULD BE BEST TO ASSUME THAT IT CAN."

"He's right," agreed Flash. "Scarecrow may be insane, but he's not stupid."

"And if I know him as well as I think I do, he'll have anticipated meeting up with you Rangers and already come up with a way for his gas to penetrate your suits," said Batman. "So avoid contact with it at all costs."

"It's Morphin Time!" commanded Tommy.

"PTERODACTYL!"

"TRICERATOPS!"

"TYRANNOSAURUS!"

"MASTODON!"

"SABER-TOOTHED TIGER!"

"GREEN DRAGON!"

"PYRAMIDAS!"

"WHITE TIGER!"

Al then ordered, "Geo Rangers, Unite!"

"POWER OF WIND!"

"POWER OF EARTH!"

"POWER OF WATER!"

"POWER OF THUNDER!"

"POWER OF FIRE!"

"Let's go!" cried Wonder Woman. Everyone was then teleported to the battlefield.

Once there, Tommy yelled, "Hey, Scarecrow! Darkonda! You're not welcome here!"

"You really think we care, White Ranger?" asked Scarecrow with a laugh.

"I will have my revenge on all of Earth's Rangers, starting with you," boasted Darkonda. "By the time we're done, Scarecrow will be a rich man and I will have taken my first step to taking over this pathetic world!"

"Now, Quantrons, reap what we have sown!" ordered Scarecrow.

"You guys take care of these things," said Flash. "I'll get the fear gas out of the city." He then began running all over the city, running in circles and creating a vortex that sucked the fear gas out of the city and up into the atmosphere. After taking care of the first batch, Flash quipped, "One cloud down, several to go." He then sped off to take care of the rest of the fear gas.

Back at the field of battle, the Rangers tore into the Quantrons. Despite their inexperience, the Geo Rangers were holding their own quite well. However, Quantrons kept coming back for more. Karen said, "These guys don't know when to quit."

"Lighten up, Kare-Bear, this is fun!" said Cody with a laugh.

Jenny was tearing into her foes with unmatched fury. Seeing this, Aisha asked, "What's with her?"

"I don't know," answered Adam. "I've never seen her like this before."

"She hasn't been the same since the accident with Al," answered Tommy.

"Accident with me?" asked Al in surprise. "What are you talking about?"

"It'll have to wait," interrupted Kat. "Right now, we've got bigger problems."

Green Lantern blasted several Quantrons from the air with his power ring. He then landed and created a machine gun. He proceeded to gun down several more. Two more Quantrons tried to jump at him, but GL created buzzsaws, cutting them in half. "Next?" he asked.

Batman simply beat his foes into submission without a word, trying to get to the Scarecrow. Darkonda, meanwhile, was on Wonder Woman's hit parade as she tore through the Quantrons.

Jenny continued fighting the Quantrons like a girl possessed. These weren't human, so she had no problem beating them to a pulp. She was angry at herself for hurting Al, for being humiliated by Abby, and failing to live up to the code of the martial arts. Once the enemies in her immediate vicinity were taken care of, Jenny took a moment to catch her breath and say, "A diversion is just what the doctor ordered."

"Well, this doctor has a special prescription for you, Green Ranger," said Scarecrow. Jenny turned to see the Master of Fear facing her. "And the prescription is fear!" He then fired the fear gas at the Green Ranger.

The Green Ranger coughed as, just as Batman had predicted, the gas was able to penetrate her suit. Once she got her bearings, Jenny looked around confused. She gasped in horror as she saw the bodies of innocent people lying everywhere. "No. No. It can't be!"

An injured man asked, "Why did you do this to us?"

"We trusted you," a badly-hurt woman said as a tear ran down her face. "We thought you were a hero."

"How could you do this to my child?" asked another woman as she held her injured daughter.

"I…I…I'm sorry, really, I am!" cried Jenny as her voice began to break.

Scarecrow was laughing as he said, "One Ranger down, eleven to go!" His laughter stopped, however, as a batarang knocked his gas gun out of his hand.

Batman charged towards the Scarecrow and landed a hard punch to the jaw. Scarecrow threw a punch of his own, but Batman caught Scarecrow's fist. He squeezed and bent it backwards, causing Scarecrow to cry out in pain. Batman then kneed him in the midsection before knocking him out with an uppercut. He then quickly secured Scarecrow so that he couldn't escape.

Wonder Woman, meanwhile, finally managed to reach Darkonda. "Darkonda!" she yelled.

"What?" asked Darkonda in surprise as he saw the Amazon flying towards him. He had no time to react and Wonder Woman nailed him in the jaw, knocking him down. "Well, if it isn't the Avenging Amazon. I hear you're a great warrior."

"I am a warrior born," countered Wonder Woman. "And if you know what's good for you, I suggest you leave peacefully while you still can."

"Fool!" yelled Darkonda. "You think I came all this way back to Earth just to leave empty-handed again? This city will be mine and soon, the entire planet!" He then fired energy bolts from his eyes, but Wonder Woman deflected them with her bracelets. Darkonda cried out in surprise as his own bolts were sent right back to him. Wonder Woman then flew forward and proceeded to beat him to a pulp. After multiple punches and kicks, Darkonda was sent flying. As he slowly stood up, he said, "Well, Wonder Woman, it appears your reputation precedes you. But, let's see how well you handle this!"

Darkonda then tried to use his super-speed attacks, only to be hit by multiple super-speed punches as someone rushed past him and hit him multiple times until he was taken down again. Darkonda looked up to see a smirking Flash standing before him. "Didn't anyone ever tell you that's no way to treat a lady?"

Most of the other Rangers and Justice Leaguers then approached. "Feel like taking on all of us at once, Darkonda?" asked Rocky.

Seeing that the odds were stacked against him, Darkonda said, "You may have stopped me, Justice Leaguers, but you still have other problems to deal with." He then teleported out without another word.

Batman, Billy, and Trini had been trying approach Jenny. "Jenny, snap out of it!" cried the Gold Ranger. "It's us!"

"No, no, stay away!" yelled the Green Ranger in fright. She was on the ground, trying scramble back. "Keep back!"

"It's no use, Trini," said Billy. "She's in another world."

As the others approached, Mark asked, "What's wrong with her?"

"She got hit by Scarecrow's fear gas," answered Batman. "She's hallucinating. What, I don't know."

"We've got to help her," said Brendan. "But what can we do?"

"First of all, we'll have to secure her so that she can't escape," answered Green Lantern. "Right now, approaching her could be very dangerous. Stand back." First, Wonder Woman flew behind the Green Ranger and grabbed her. Batman and Tommy helped hold her on the ground, in spite of her cries of protest. Hal then proceeded to strap Jenny to the ground.

Realizing that she was being held down, Jenny's panic increased. "No, please, let me go! Don't do this! HELP!" She thrashed about, but she couldn't escape.

Working quickly, Batman proceeded to remove Jenny's helmet. He then reached into his utility belt and pulled out a syringe. He injected the substance into the side of Jenny's neck. Within seconds, she was out like a light. "What'd you do?" asked Al.

"I gave her a combination of both the antidote and a sedative," answered Batman. "She'll be out for a couple of hours. By the time she wakes up, she should be fine. But we still have to administer the antidote throughout the rest of the city."

At that moment, the Rangers communicators' sounded. "Yes, Alpha?" asked Billy.

"I'm finished," responded Alpha. "The antidote is ready to be distributed. But you have to hurry, oh, ay, yi, yi!"

"I'll take the Batwing and start administering the antidote," said Batman. "Katherine, I want you to take your zord and help me. Between the two of us, we should be able to spray the antidote all over the city very quickly."

"Right," said Kat with a nod. "Let's get going. We haven't a moment to lose."

"If you don't mind, Batman, I'll take Scarecrow back to Gotham," said Wonder Woman as she held Scarecrow's unconscious body over her shoulder. Batman simply nodded and Wonder Woman took off.

Tommy then picked up Jenny and said, "The rest of us had better get back to the Command Center." Everyone then proceeded to do just that.

Moments later, both Batman and Kat were flying over Angel Grove. "Alright, Katherine, are you ready?"

"Ready when you are." With that, the Batwing and the Pterodactyl began spraying the antidote all over the city. As it landed on the people, their fear and hallucinations began to fade. They looked around confused, but were alright.

The others watched from the Command Center on the Viewing Globe. "Yes!" exclaimed Alpha. "It's working!"

"That's a relief," said Aisha with a sigh.

"But what about Jenny?" asked Cody as he looked over at the younger Ranger. She was peacefully resting on the medical table.

"SHE WILL BE FINE," answered Zordon. "WE JUST HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE SEDATIVE TO WEAR OFF."

"Poor Jenny," said Karen in concern. "A sweet girl like her doesn't deserve what that creep did to her."

"It's not entirely Scarecrow's doing, Karen," said Tommy. "Al, I think you and I should stay here until she wakes up. The two of you need to talk." Al simply nodded. She was curious as to what was going on.

Jenny moaned as she started to come to. Her eyes fluttered open to see Tommy standing over her. The White Ranger smiled and said, "Hey,sis."

"Tommy?" asked Jenny groggily. "What happened?" As she attempted to sit up, she felt a sharp pain shoot through her head. "Aw, man, I got a splitting headache!"

As Jenny rubbed her head, Tommy asked, "What do you remember?"

Jenny took a moment to collect her thoughts. "I remember…fighting the Quantrons. And the next thing I knew…" She trailed off as she tried to think. Her eyes widened as she remembered. "I was face-to-face with the Scarecrow."

"He got you with his fear gas," said Al as she approached. "What do you remember after that?"

"Things are a little fuzzy. It all happened so fast…" Jenny trailed off again as she hung her head. "I remember seeing innocent people dead or dying." A tear ran down her cheek as she continued. "I saw people yelling at me, condemning me, saying that I betrayed them." She began crying profusely as she said, "Several people were approaching me, ready to kill me. The next thing I knew, I was on the ground and I couldn't move. And then I blacked out."

Tommy put his arms around his sister, saying, "There, there, let it out." As Jenny cried on her brother's shoulder, Tommy soothed her, saying, "It's okay. It's all over now."

Al then said, "Look, Jenny, I hate to break this up, but you and I need to talk. Now, what's going on here? Tommy said you haven't been the same since your accident with me. I thought I told you I was fine?"

"But I hurt you!" cried Jenny. "If I could hurt you so easily as just myself, can you imagine how easily I could kill someone as the Green Ranger?"

"Jenny, all you did was knock the wind out of me! I hardly think that qualifies as a life-threatening injury."

"Well, then what about that scar near your stomach?" asked Jenny. "Explain that one to me!"

Al looked at her confused. "Scar near my stomach? What are you…?" She trailed off as it dawned on her. "Wait a minute. You mean this?" She then proceeded to lift up her shirt just enough to show Jenny and Tommy said scar.

Tommy was shocked, but said nothing. Seeing the scar again, Jenny exclaimed, "Yes, that one!"

Al just smiled and shook her head in disbelief. This was what Jenny's troubles had been all about? "Jenny, I've had this scar for about eight years."

"Huh?" asked a stunned Jenny in confusion. "Y…you have?"

"Yeah," confirmed Al with a nod. "This is from when I had my appendix removed."

Now, Jenny was even more shocked. But that shock turned into relief as she propped her elbows on her knees, buried her face in her hands, and said, "Oh, my gosh, I feel so stupid."

Al chuckled as she sat down next to Jenny and put an arm around here. "There, there, it's okay. We all do stupid things. God knows I sure have."

"Oh, really?" asked Jenny as she finally looked up. "Like what?"

"Dating Rich," answered Al with a smile. "I don't know what I was thinking back then."

"Is he really that bad?" asked Tommy with a raised eyebrow.

"You'll get to meet him soon enough and then you can tell me," answered Al as she and Jenny got off the cot. "You'll also finally get to meet J. T. and Sam. Although, to tell you the truth, Rich has gotten better since he started dating Dana. But, if either of you tell anyone I said that, I'll deny it."

Tommy chuckled and said, "Fair enough. So, Jenny, since we still have time, would you like to get a little more practice in before the tournament tomorrow."

This finally got a smile out of Jenny. "Yeah. I'd like that. And besides, I have a score to settle with Abby. It's time she learned not to mess with Jenny Oliver."

"That's the spirit," said Tommy with a smile.

Al nodded in agreement with a smile of her own as she added, "Now, THAT'S the Jenny I've come to know." The three of them then proceeded to teleport out of the Command Center.

The next day was the big tournament. Everyone at the Youth Center was watching with anticipation, including Carol and Frank. Al had told them about Jenny's ordeal and they were a little concerned. "Are you sure Jenny's going to be okay?" asked Carol as Lilly sat on her lap.

"She'll be fine, Carol," answered Al with a smile. "You'll see."

"Looks like they're about ready to start," said Frank.

The tournament was a good one. As had been expected, Jenny and Abby dominated their age group and would meet in the finals. As they took to the mats, Carol whispered to her kids, "Is that the girl who's been giving Jenny a hard time?"

"Yeah, she makes Karen look like an angel," answered Brendan nonchalantly.

"Hey!" cried Karen. "I resent that!"

The match started with Abby going on the offensive. Jenny managed to block or avoid her rival's attacks. Abby threw a wild kick, which allowed Jenny to sweep her off her feet. They were ordered to break. Once they started back up, Abby threw a series of punches, but couldn't find the mark. Finally, Jenny managed to grab Abby by the arm and threw her to the mat. Again, the girls were ordered to break and Abby pounded the mat in frustration. They started again, this time with Jenny taking the initiative. She started with a series of kicks, but Abby also managed to avoid getting hit. She hit Jenny in the back with a cheap shot, taking her down. The judges shook their heads at this, but the match had to go on. Again, Jenny went on the offensive, and Abby took her down again, this time with a throw that looked suspiciously like a tackle. They had to break once more. When they started again, Abby went back on the offensive. She threw some punches, but couldn't connect. She tried some kicks, but Jenny remained unscathed. After Abby missed, she began to turn around. Seeing her opportunity, Jenny made her move…and connected with a spinning thrust kick—right in the abdomen. Abby fell to the mat, out of breath. The girls were ordered to break as Abby slowly made her way to her feet. Time was called, signifying the end of the match-up.

Turning to the judges, the official asked, "Judges call." Getting their signal, the official turned back to the mat. "Winner: Jennifer Oliver!" Tommy and the others cheered as Jenny jumped and screamed in excitement.

Jenny and Abby were then ordered to bow to each other one more time. Once they did, Jenny smiled and extended her hand. "You were great out there."

Abby just stared at Jenny. She couldn't believe that after all she had tried to do, Jenny still took the high road. Abby sighed and did the only thing she could do: She shook Jenny's hand. Abby managed a small smile as she said, "You, too."

As Jenny received her trophy, her family and friends all surrounded her as they congratulated her. Abby graciously accepted her second place trophy as her father and friends congratulated her. Jenny smiled as her brother and friends lifted her onto their shoulders and she held her trophy high for all to see.
