(A/N: Here's chapter twenty-five. Last time Kira, Hinata, and the others fought Toyohashi and lost miserable, and Kira realized her demonic powers are weaken somehow. Let's see how they recovered. Enjoy!)
Conflict on a Beach Party
The Afterlife Battlefront and the Anti-Human Battalions were all gathered around in the Battlefront Headquarters. Kira was dressed in her AHB uniform. It's been about a week since the battle against Toyohashi at Kira's father's gravesite. "So, Toyohashi is a lot stronger than we thought, huh?" Skyla confirmed, breaking the tension in the room.
"And if we die, then we can't come back to life, like we normally do?" Ooyama asked, scared shitless.
"Yes, according to what Toyohashi claimed after released Bokurashi from its seal," Miss Sayaka stated.
"What if he's just bluffing?" Takamatsu questioned, pushing his glasses.
"I don't think he was bluffing. Even if he was, we shouldn't risk it."
"He was really strong," Yuri said. "We didn't even stand a chance. Not even Kira." There were surprised gasps all around, mainly from the SSS. Kira growled lowly. She's never been so humiliated.
(FLASHBACK)
"Hmm, you're demonic powers have gotten weaker, Princess Kira," Toyohashi said, smirking tauntingly. "I've never heard of you being so weak before, and the effects of the poison are long gone. Is it because the great Fiery Princess Kira, who was so strong and feared among demons despite being only a half-demon, and despised humans, has fallen in love? With a worthless human, no less?" Bokurashi started glowing a dark color. "As much as I want to enjoy toying with you, I need to end this. Got things to do now that I have this sword. Such as taking over the Afterlife as its new ruler." A dark demonic energy began to form. "Goodbye, Princess Kira. Cryptic Comet!" A huge, overwhelming blast of dark energy shot towards the coyote princess.
"Raven Crest!" Kira shouted, swinging Sen Sureiyazu with her good arm, and blue energy came from it. She noticed something different though. Both the attacks clashed into each other, but Kira's was so easily overpowered as it disintegrated into nothing. "My demonic powers…has weakened?" the coyote girl thought, eyes wide in realization. "Why?" The attack hit her dead on. "AAAHHHHHHHHHH!" she screamed at the top of her lungs in immense pain and agony. She could feel it tearing her body apart. It hurts like hell!
"KIKI!" Hinata in fright and worry. Kira slid down the floor and collapsed. Her whole body was in agony.
(END OF FLASHBACK)
Why did her demonic powers suddenly became weaker? Is it because she let Hinata claim her heart? Something that never happened before? It's true she's never felt like this before. She used to hate humans, but now…now she's become infatuated with one. What's happening to her?
"So, Kira got her ass handed to her?" Fujimaki said, smugly. Noda snickered. The AHB member shivered a bit as they could feel their leader's aura flaring in immense anger as she growled heatedly at the two morons and gave them a look that would kill while flexing her claws. They both cowered in fear. Hinata gripped her hand softly and rubbed it gently with the pad of his thumb. That seemed to calm her down a little as she lowered her other hand. But that still didn't stop the glare she sent them.
"Just ignore them, Kiki," Hinata said, trying to calm his girlfriend down. "They're too stupid to think before saying anything anyway." He gave her a gentle smile that made her heart melt as she blushed lightly.
"Hey!" Noda and Fujimaki yelled out, both offended by that statement.
"What should we do now?" Otonashi asked. "We don't know where Toyohashi is, or when he'll star making his move."
"And the Afterlife is in danger also," Kanade added. There was silence around the room.
"Let's have a party!" Tasha exclaimed, excitedly. Everyone turned to her. "Or not," she said, quietly from the looks she was getting.
"Actually, a party might not be a bad idea," Skyla said.
"Are you guys serious?" Yuri asked.
"Well, we don't know where he enemy is. This may be our last just to enjoy ourselves here in the Afterlife before we go into total war and destruction," she responded, somewhat dramatically towards the end. "Especially you guys." She mentioned towards the people who fought against the tiger demon. Everyone eventually agreed.
"But what kind of party?" Hinata asked.
"How about a beach party?" Sayaka suggested. "We don't actually have a beach, but we can go swimming in the river instead. We'll play in water, and have some fun. And then later we'll have a barbeque."
"I'm in!" Yui said, enthusiastically.
"Sounds fun to me," Hisako said. "Nothing better to do."
An hour later the Battlefront and the Battalions, except for Kira, Miss Sayaka, and Skyla, were at the river. The same one the SSS went on a fishing trip. The boys were dressed in swim trunks, and the girls were in bikinis or one piece bathing suits. "Ah! This is more like it," Yui said, after jumping into the water. She was wearing frilly pink bikini. Nekoma mewed in annoyance as some water got splashed onto her. Almost everybody else got inside the water as well. Hinata was wearing blue bathing shorts. He glanced around he area, and noticed his girl was messing.
"Huh? Where's Kiki?" he asked.
"She, Skyla, and Miss Sayaka are still putting on their swim suits," Kiraba answered. He was wearing lime green swim wear.
At the Anti-Human Battalions Base, Miss Sayaka and Skyla was helping Kira pick out a bikini to wear. "Ah ha!" Skyla beamed when she spotted a light purple bikini outfit. It had a small black ribbon on the middle of the top, and on the right side of the skirt panel. The top had white layered rims while the skirt had an elegant design to it. (A/N: This is the same bikini Hinata saw in Kira's bathroom in earlier chapters.) Kira's face turned red.
"I-I can't wear that," she said, stuttering somewhat. She was flustered and was twirling her fingers nervously.
"Don't worry, Lady Kira," Skyla assured her nervous leader.
"B-but… What if Hinata doesn't think this…" She gestured to herself, hands waving all around for emphasis. "…Is good?"
"Nonsense, Lady Kira," Miss Sayaka scoffed. "Come here!" She pulled her towards the mirror, making her see herself in the reflection. "What do you see?"
"Myself, of course." the AHB leader replied as it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"And don't you think you're beautiful?"
"I don't know. I guess."
"Well, Hinata thinks you're beautiful," the half-cat demon chimed in. "Plus, he's totally in love with you."
"No, he doesn't," the coyote girl said, shaking her head vigorously. "I think… I think he's just infatuated with me. That's all. I wouldn't go as far as to call it 'love', like with you and Kiraba, Skyla. I know Hinata doesn't consider…" She paused and shook her head again. "Forget it!" She turned towards the bikini in Skyla's hands. "Are you sure this is alright to wear? It's not embarrassing, is it?"
"It'll look great on you, Lady Kira," the red-haired woman reassured.
"Yeah, go put it on!" Skyla added. Kira sighed and took it from her hands. She began shredding her uniform off, and putting the light purple bikini on. "Wow! It really does look great on you, Lady Kira!" Skyla praised. Kira blushed in embarrassment. Miss Sayaka and Skyla went to put to put on their own swim suits while Kira fixed her hair. Then Sayaka went to fix her hair tying it up in long ponytail. After that, the three girls left the AHBB.
Back at the river, everyone was enjoying themselves and doing their own thing. Yuri, who was wearing a white bikini, was playing beach volleyball with Kanade, who was wearing a dark pink bikini with a skirt panel, (A/N: The one she had in the manga where Yuri first thought she got her powers from.) Tasha, Kiraba, and Yamashi. Irie, Sekine, Yui, Takamatsu. Ooyama, TK, Fasutsu, Naoi, and surprisingly, Yusa were swimming and playing around in the river. Well, TK was more like dancing in the river. The rest, meaning Hinata, Otonashi, Rasshu, Shiina, Fujimaki, Takeyama, Noda, and Hisako were all chilling and doing their own thing. "What do you want to do, Hinata?" Otonashi asked his best friend. Before Hinata would open his mouth, he was splashed with a ton of water.
"How about a water fight, Hina-kins?" Yui suggested. "Hiya!" She kicked him in the back He groaned in pain and annoyance.
"Why you little…!" Hinata grumbled in irritation. He got her into an arm lock.
"Ow! Ow! Ow! Uncle! Uncle!" the pinklette cried in pain. Rasshu whistled as he watched the seen unfold.
"I think I've just found some entertainment," he said, somewhat amused. The bluenett still had her in an arm lock.
"H-Hinata?" a familiar feminine voice spoke, somewhat shyly. "H-how do I look?" He looked up and dropped Yui on the ground in an instant, his eyes wide as saucers as he was at lost for words.
"Hey!" Yui shouted as she hit the ground, but was completely ignored. The blue haired boy was too busy staring at the girl, no woman, no goddess in front of him. His face flushed ten shades of red as he as Kira dressed in the bikini he saw in her bathroom the other day. He knew she would look hot in it, but damn! She was sexy! It fitted her perfectly, too, showing off all those curves as well as her slim waist and well toned, creamy legs. Her hair was wrapped around a few times and then put into a ponytail, and the left side of her bans were clipped back. Her bangs reached down to her shoulders. Kira fidgeted a little under Hinata's intense gaze. Her face flushed red in embarrassment. Why was he staring at her like that? Was it bad? She shyly played with her clothing.
"Is it bad?" she asked, a bit flustered and looking away. Hinata smiled and walked towards her. He pulled her into a hug and kissed her cheek.
"You're so adorable when you're so shy," he whispered in her ear, causing her face to darken even more. She pulled away from him.
"A-are you sure, Hinata? I-I've never wore a bikini before. This is my first time. I feel embarrassed." He chuckled. She looked at him in confusion.
"Have you always been this shy?" he asked, still laughing a bit. "You look so good in it, Kiki." He inspected her beautiful and curvy body. He blushed. "Really, really good in it." Kira's heart jumped with happiness and joy at Hinata's compliment.
"Grr! That stupid mortal!" Kira gasped when she started to hear a voice in her head. "He's so weak, he needs me to protect him!" She recognized the voice. It was her inner demon's! No… No. No! It can't be! How can this be? She thought she had her inner demon under control.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Kira hissed in her head. "I thought I got rid of you."
"Tch! Kira, you can't get rid of me. I am you. You're demon part, that is. And I came to see you playing with that…that mortal boy of yours," her inner demon responded. "Want me to sharpen my claws on him? It'll save you the possible another heartbreak and trouble later."
"You leave Hinata alone, you hear?!" she growled, angrily. Her inner demon scoffed.
"What's so special about him anyway? He's just a human. I should just put him out of his misery."
"Leave him alone!"
"What's the matter, Kira," her demon said in a mocking tone. "I've never seen you like this. Where did all that hatred for humans go? Has this mortal effected you that much? Don't you remember that day when the villagers killed your mother? Remember, the villagers' blood on your hands and claws?" She licked her lips and smirked evilly. "I wonder… What do you think the blue haired mortal's blood would taste like?"
"Shut up! I'm not like you, you sadistic bitch!" the golden-haired princess retorted.
"Kiki. Kiki! Kiki, what's wrong? Kiki!" Hinata's voice snapped her out of her argument with her inner demon.
"Huh? What?" Kira looked around. "Oh, Hinata?" He let go of her shoulders as he stopped shaking her. He gave her a concerned look.
"What's wrong?" Hinata asked, concern and worry laced in his voice. She suddenly became angry and frustrated, and that made him worry.
"Oh, nothing, Hinata," she tried to reassure him. Then she remembered he didn't have a shirt on. She could clearly see his slightly toned chest and abs. Her face turned a deep shade of red, and turned around, covering her face in embarrassment.
"What's the matter?" he asked.
"I'm fine, Hinata," she squeaked. "Really." The bluenett sighed and then smiled.
"Well, come on." Hinata grabbed Kira's arm. "Let's go! Everyone's waiting!" He dragged her over to the river. Miss Sayaka and Skyla, who were watching the whole scene, gave each other worried looks, like they knew what was happening, and then decided to join the others.
It's been hours and hours of playing around, chit-chatting, and having fun in the water. Kira decided to get out of the water and walk as far as away from the others as possible from the others. Especially, Hinata. "Look at how weak you've become, Kira," her inner demon mocked her. "How could you lose to that Toyohashi fellow? It was all that blue haired guy's fault and you know it. All that hatred for humans has vanished because…out of nowhere…you've become infatuated with one. Kira, you're pathetic! You're weak in body, heart, and soul!"
"Shut up!" Kira lashed out angrily. "You know nothing of my feelings for Hinata! I love him!" Kira's inner demon laughed darkly.
"Love, huh?" she laughed. "Puh-lease! Don't make me laugh! What would an isolated, hateful half-demon such as yourself know about love? And how would a human love a half-demon? How do you know he's not using and tricking you like all the others? Remember, he broke your heart one time. He might just do it again."
(FLASHBACK)
"Listen here, you failure of a baseball player… You wouldn't be going out with Kira, or talking and getting to know her, if it wasn't for MY orders." Before Hinata could retort he heard a tray hit the floor and heard a soft whisper behind him.
"So, this was all a trick?" He turned around see a human Kira standing there, her food on the floor below her.
"Kira…," was all he could get out. She couldn't even look him in the eye. Her eyes were downcast. Her fist clenched up together.
"So everything…everything…was a lie...?" The black-haired girl could already feel that her heart was beginning to break like there was a thousand knives attacking it. She came in hoping to eat dinner with Hinata and meet his friends in a different light. But she couldn't believe what she heard when Yuri said he only wanted to be with her cause of his leader's orders, not cause he wanted to.
"Yes, it was…" Yuri quickly covered her mouth before she could say anything else. She was still peeved at Hinata for saying all those things to her, but she didn't want Hinata to be hurt, depressed, and emotionally down, and that's going to happen if Kira's hurt, too. He's still a part of her team despite the rude things he said. She's sure he didn't mean them. He was probably just letting all his anger out at her. Without him, she'd be down one member. Kira's heart shattered into millions of pieces.
"So…everything was a lie. I should have known. I'm so stupid," she whispered the last part to herself, and took off before anyone could say anything.
"Kira, wait!" Hinata didn't think twice about chasing after her. The black-haired kept running through the NPCs, student and teachers alike.
"Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! I'm so stupid! Why did I fall for his lies? Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!" she kept chanting over and over again. She didn't realize that Hinata was gradually catching up to her because she's in her human form. He finally caught up to her, and grabbed her shoulders, stopping her. "Let go of me!" she snarled. Hinata was hurt.
"Please, Kira! Hear me out!" he pleaded. "I've never meant for this to happen."
"Meant for what to happen to what?" she growled. "Getting to know me? Pretending to care about me when you really don't? Taking my heart and smashing it? You deceived me." She turned around to face him. The bluenett gasped, and his heart twisted painfully. Her face was cold and emotionless, but what made him gasp were her eyes. Tears were threatening to fall from them, but she was desperately holding them back. Those beautiful eyes of hers were hurt, angry, sad, and heartbroken. He never wanted to be the one to make her feel like this. He wanted to be the one to make her happy, not the opposite. "You never cared about me!" Kira yelled, obviously hurt and angry. "You ONLY wanted to know me because you were TOLD to! Everything you said was a fucking lie! You never cared! You never cared about me, at all!"
"No...I didn't lie to you, Kira," Hinata said pleadingly. "Please. Give me another chance. I do care about you. I never meant to hurt, or deceive you."
"Yeah right," she scoffed. "That's what everyone says, and then they end up HURTING me more. Well, that's enough! No more! I'm tired of being hurt! Haven't I suffered enough?" She tried to run away again, but Hinata grabbed her wrist. "Let go of me, mortal!" she snarled. The bluenett was shocked and hurt. His heart was aching in pain. She must really despise him now, if she's not calling him by his name anymore.
"Kira, please…," he whispered desperately.
"I said 'let go of me'. I HATE YOU!" Kira kicked Hinata in the rib as hard as she humanly could, hearing a few bones crack. He doubled over in pain. The black-haired girl turned and ran away from him.
"Kira…," he groaned in pain as he watched her turn the corner and disappear. His side really hurt. He couldn't move. All he could do was lay there. His vision was starting to become blurry. Hinata didn't know how much time had passed before he started hearing voices, and he eventually blacked out.
(END OF FLASHBACK)
"Hinata's not…" Kira started to become unsure. "He's not like that. He would never hurt me. He wouldn't, right? It's just not in him to deceive me." Her inner demon rolled her eyes at her ignorance.
"Oh, face the facts, Kira. He lied to you once. What makes you think he won't do it again? Humans," she said with such venom and distaste. "They're all the same. He's no different from the others. Let me slaughter him. It'll save you the trouble. And besides, I want to see his pretty, little face as I watched the life fade from his eyes as I tear him apart, limb by limb."
"Stay away from Hinata!"
"Keep resisting all you want, Kira. If you don't want to cooperate with me, then fine. Your body will be mine then."
"There's no way in hell I'll ever give in to you, bitch!"
"Oh, you will, eventually. It's all just a matter of time. And once I do, I'll get rid of that weak human heart of yours, too, while I'm at it. That human heart of yours is your weakness, Kira. And so is your love for that pathetic mortal. Just wait and see. He'll betray you once again."
"SHUT UP!" Kira screamed out in complete anger and fury, causing everyone to look at her. The AHB looked at her with worry and concern while the SSS looked at her funny and confused. Hinata got out of the water and went over to his girlfriend. Everyone went back to doing their own thing.
"Kiki, are you alright?" Hinata asked, concerned. "You've been acting strange all day. Is something the matter?"
"Nothing is wrong! Piss off and leave me alone!" Kira said, rather harshly. Hinata was hurt. She marched away from him and into the forest. He quickly went after her.
"Kira, wait!" He grabbed her shoulder. "If there's something wrong, please tell me, okay?" He smiled sweetly. She growled angrily and then knocked his hand away.
"I said, 'leave me alone'!" She then slapped him in the face so hard there was a red hand print, and his head almost did a one-eighty. The bluenett looked back at her with shock and hurt evident in his royal blue eyes while holding his injured face. "Tell you? Tell you?!" she yelled with venom in her voice. "Why would I tell you anything? I don't need you, you bastard! You're just going to betray me again, asshole! You're a lying jerk! That's what you are! I hate you! I've always hated you! Do me a favor and burn in hell! I don't want to see your disgusting face again!" The blue haired boy felt like his heart was instantly ripped out at hearing the coyote girl say those words. He rubbed the back of his head while looking away from her with his bangs shadowing his eyes.
"If… If that's the way you've always felt, then I won't bother you anymore," he said with so much hurt. "I-I'll go. See you later, I guess." He walked away, head hung down in defeat.
"Hinata, no! Wait!" She ran after him. She didn't mean it. She didn't mean to say any of that. She just took out her anger and frustration on the man she loved and has accepted her, and she felt horrible. She grabbed his arm, stopping him. When he looked at her, she gasped slightly and felt even more guilt. His usual bright, happy royal blue eyes were gone. He looked so hurt and shattered. The AHB leader gave the baseball player a hug and buried her face in his chest. "I didn't mean it! I didn't mean any of it, Hinata! I swear! Forgive me! Please forgive me!" He was surprised. First she said she hated him, and now she's hugging him and apologizing. What's gotten into her? He hesitated and then returned her hug.
"So? You don't hate me, after all?" he asked, hopefully.
"No, I don't! It just slipped out! I didn't mean it! I didn't mean it, Hinata!" He smiled and gave her a kiss on the forehead. He pulled back.
"I'm glad you don't really hate, Kiki. That really hurt though. I've…" He stopped when she gave him a guilt filled and sorrowful expression. "Don't take it like that, Kiki. That's not what I meant to say. I-I…"
"Hinata…" She cut him off. She held him more tightly. It become deathly silent all of a sudden. "If I… If I ever go out of control and go berserk…" She pulled back to look at deeply in the eyes. Go berserk? Hinata could tell that there was something that she wanted to say, but couldn't. "…Please run away or…or kill me." The bluenett gasped and eyes wide with shock and horror. Was this a joke? Why she saying all this? Just because she said she hated him, and didn't really mean it, she thinks it's right for him to kill her? No, he can never do that! He loves her too much to cause harm to her. He can never kill the woman he loves. And if he does kill her, there's a possibility she will be obliterated.
"Kiki, what are you saying?!" he asked in horror. "Kill you? I can't! I can never do such a thing! If there's something bothering you, please tell me!"
"I-I can't, Hinata. Just promise me… When I go berserk, you'll either run away or kill me." They both became silent, unable say anything.
"Hey, you two!" Yuri called out to them. "Time to eat!"
It was sundown and everyone was eating the grilled burgers and hot dogs Skyla and Kiraba cooked on the barbecue stove they brought. "This has been has been a nice and relaxing day, hasn't it," Otonashi said, munching on a hot dog.
"Sure has," Hinata agreed, although he sounded a bit distracted. He was too busy staring at Kira, who was looking into the river and moving her fingers in it in a circular motion. Everyone was wondering what went down between them, mainly the Afterlife Battlefront members, when Hinata came back with red, bruised cheek and a worried look, and Kira with a guilty one. But they didn't and refused to tell them. The blue haired male walked over to the coyote princess. "Hey, Kiki," he said, trying to get her attention.
"Hinata?" She turned to him. "What is it?"
"Why don't you come eat with us?" She stayed silent as she stared at the side of his face where she slapped him earlier. It recovered thanks to quick healing aspect of practically being dead, but there was still a bit of redness. The golden-haired girl reached out and gently touched his face.
"Hinata, does it hurt?" she asked, concerned. He smiled and placed his colossal hand over her small, pale one.
"It's fine. Don't worry, Kiki. Yurippe hits me all the time. I'm used to it," he reassured his girlfriend in a joking manner somewhat. His face began serious. He removed her hand away from his face and held it. "But what's going on with you, Kiki? You've been angry all day. Is it because of Toyohashi? We'll get him next time, Kiki." She shook her head 'no'.
"No," she said. "It's not because of him." "It's me," she added as an afterthought.
"Then what is it?"
"I can't tell you, Hinata."
"Please, Kiki, tell me," he pleaded. "I want to help you get through whatever's bothering you." She gazed deep in his eyes and could see that he was sincere. But she couldn't tell him.
"I can't tell him," the coyote girl thought. "What am I supposed to say? That my inner demon might come out, and I'll turn full demon, go on a rampage, and slaughter everyone, including him with no distinction." They're was total silence as Hinata waited patiently for Kira's reply.
"Come on, you guys," Skyla called to them, causing them to look at her. "You're missing all the food. Better hurry and get some before they're gone." The golden-haired princess glanced back at the baseball player.
"I-I can't tell you, Hinata," Kira said, sadly. "Maybe…some other time." He sighed in defeat as they both walked back to join the others.
After some time, they finished the barbecue. "Hey, everyone! Why don't we take a picture?" Oblivia suggested.
"Good idea, Oblivia!" Skyla said. "A great way to end an awesome party."
"But where are going to get a camera?" Kanade asked.
"Kanade's right," Yuri agreed. "Are we going all the way back to the school to get one?"
"I have one right here," Tasha announced, pulling out a camera and tripod out of nowhere. "I always carry one whenever we go partying and stuff for memories. The Battlefront was about to question where she got the camera from, but Kiraba told them not to ask. Sometimes the hyperactive girl makes no sense whatsoever. It's better to just go with the flow when you're around her. As Tasha was getting the camera ready, everyone gathered around in front of it. Kira and Hinata were sitting at the front in the middle with her head on his shoulder and his arm around her. Otonashi was next to Hinata, then Kanade, and Yuri. Miss Sayaka was next to Kira, then Skyla, and Kiraba. Everyone else was behind them. Tasha pushed the button on the camera, and scrambled to get into her position. Three… Two… One… Click! Snap!

(A/N: Well, that's the end of the chapter. Sorry, for those of you that suspected it to be some big beach party. I wasn't really planning it to be like that. I just wanted to mainly show some conflict between Kira, her inner demon, and Hinata. I feel bad for Hinata. His girlfriend, Kira, seemed so troubled, but she won't tell him what's wrong. She even falsely took her anger out on him. I feel bad for Hinata, but, at least, she apologized. Remember, in an earlier chapter Kira stated that her human heart loved Hinata, but her demon heart wasn't sure. Well, there it is. If you haven't completely figured it out, he hasn't completely won her heart. Kira's inner demon will show up in another chapter. Maybe two. Hmm? That could be why her demonic powers are weakening. Because her inner demon refuses to care for humans, especially Hinata. Kira's inner demon hasn't accepted Hinata as a potential mate. He needs to prove that he's worthy enough for her. But how? Oh, the picture the Afterlife Battlefront and the Anti-Human Battalions just took are going to hold a huge significant in later chapters.
Ending song Blood-C Opening: Spiral.
I picked this to somewhat describe the conflict Kira's having with her inner demon. Read and review! And see you next chapter!)
