Lilah P.O.V

I heard the sound of a soft steady beep and groaned because the headache I had just made the sound about ten times louder. I rolled over softly thinking I was on my bed only to fall abruptly onto the floor of my bedroom.

"Yeah I was going to move you to your bed but decided against it. You needed to be punished somehow." Said the voice of my older brother in the corner. I sat up my head pounding to look at my brother Zachary. I thanked the high heavens it wasn't Zane. I hated dealing with Zane, Zane was ten times more strict and for some reason thought he was my father and I always had to remind him he was anything but. When we fought it always ended up in a screaming match and that's not what I needed right now. Zachary was the voice of reason. The sane one out of all the Connell kids. I looked around my large room that was still the soft pink it had always been my whole life. I had never changed it even as I was an 18 year old and hated pink. I kept it because everybody told me my mother spent hours…to weeks… to months picking out the shade of pink that would be my nursery. I felt like painting over it was kind of like covering her up. I had a huge white rug that I was currently on and everything about my room was expensive, grand and pretty. Pink with white and gold accents. I looked at myself and I was still in my fur coat and last night's club dress. I was wearing one heel and the other one was somewhere else. I can only assume what my smeared makeup looked like. Probably looked like a hooker. I looked at my wrist and when I see a hospital band around it I looked at Zachary confused. He just closed the large book he was reading and looked at me.

"How pissed off is grams?" I asked him wondering to what extent I would have to face my grandmothers wrath.

"She's not." He said placing the book on my large bed. I took off my other shoe and he sat on the edge of the bed.

"Lilah…you pushed a boundary this time. There have been reporters at the gate since dawn." He said I sighed resting against the chair I just fell off of. "What even happened?" he asked me.

"I was partying with the girls and Sergio and his crew and then he was too strung out-

"Lilah seriously! We told you to stay away from that guy and his sleezebag friends they are not your real friends!"

"He's my friend Zachary."

"He is a liar and a criminal and 26 years old. He's mooching off of you. He's getting you into trouble with the press. Can't you see his intentions are bad?" He asked at me.

"It wasn't that serious."

"Lilah you crashed your car off highway 47! into a Barney's and almost killed somebody. Grams has been on the phone with lawyers for two days trying to keep people from pressing charges!"

So she was pissed… shit.

"Oh." Was my big response.

"Yeah Lilah "oh" you were that high off of whatever drug you decided to take this week and did all that." He said he inhaled a breath trying to calm himself down.

"I promised dad I would protect you."

I rolled my eyes.

"Zachary you were four. Shut up with that." I said from my spot on the floor. But he didn't find it funny. He was serious.

"Zane and I promised dad that we would protect you. Whether I was four or forty doesn't change that. But Lilah I didn't realize that when I made that promise that the biggest danger to you… was in fact yourself. I've calmed Zane down you won't have to deal with him…. But I can't do this anymore … You need to stop hurting yourself because one day you're going to lose at this game you constantly play." He said softly. There was a knock on the door and it was Zane… the more radical brother of the twins. Don't get me wrong I loved my brothers equally. Zane gave me my first drink, we could party up a storm and he had a sense of humor that threw me on my ass sometimes. Zachary, he helped me with homework he held me when my first love dumped me when I wouldn't sleep with him and even phased and scared him shitless just for me. Zachary and Zane were perfect brothers it's just when Zane was mad… there was really no talking to him. Apparently he was like our dad in that way.

"Grams wants you she's in the study." He said to me calmly but I knew he was pissed. He looked at Zachary. "We have a disturbance… in London lets go." Was all he said before he turned to leave not looking back. An unusual for him he always kissed me on the forehead goodbye when he had to go handle a disturbance. He was probably really mad at me. Zachary though was more forgiving as he kissed my forehead before he left and slipped me three Tylenol. I looked at myself in the mirror and grimaced. I took off the clothes I had put on a cashmere sweater and some sweats. I wiped off my makeup threw my hair in a ponytail and walked across the large hallway. This house was huge and apparently I got lost a couple times in it growing up, but everyone tells me that before my mother moved in it was dark and gloomy and she brought life to the place. I passed by a large photo of her and my dad and just stood there for a minute. I stared at the face of my mom and I closed my eyes when I got a flash.

With all the waves and the sea you'll always be with me.

I heard a singing voice from inside my head as I looked at the picture and I touched my temple in annoyance. I hated hearing that song. I rolled my eyes at the photo before going into the large study that used to belong to my father I saw my grandmother with her reading glasses on. She was sitting behind the huge desk watching the flat screen and I turned to hear what they were saying.

Lilah Connell was released from the hospital yesterday still in a drugged up state according to inside sources. The young heiress has started quite a stir as she crashed her Mercedes off the highway and into a Barney's shopping department window. Nearly killing a mother and her young son. The troubled starlet is known for starting trouble in the Connell family. Everyone making the tragic death of her parents at an early age the reason behind her recklessness. But the public wonders if she took it too far this time a-

The screen went off and I turned to look at my grandmother who had the remote in her hand. She was my grandmother on my fathers' side. I didn't know my mothers' mother very well. But I get a postcard and some antique jewelry every major holiday from her that I enjoyed. I hadn't seen her more than six times in my life, she and my mom weren't very close I've been told. She took off her reading glasses and flung them on the desk.

"The lawyers have managed to get everyone to settle. Three hundred thousand to everyone who wanted to sue. The charges will go away but the aftermath of this situation to the family name is more severe than any stunt you've ever pulled." She said calmly. My grandmother was not calm in these situations. I was surprised she wasn't screaming her lungs off right now I was actually kind of confused.

"I'm sorry." I said quietly.

"No you're not." She said knowingly and quietly. "But it's ok… sit down Lilah." She said softly and I did. She rubbed her hands together looking for a way to speak for a few moments and then she found her words.

"Maybe I was wrong in my approach with you in the past couple of years. Punishing you and yelling at you probably wasn't the best way to handle you." She said softly. I just looked at her not speaking afraid any bad thing I said would cause a storm.

"Grams I'm sorry I embarrassed the family name I promise I will fix it." I said softly my grandmother laughed softly.

"Lilah you embarrassing the family name is ok, when you came home drunk for the first time that was ok, when you lied and said you didn't get into colleges when you got into all the ones you applied for it was ok, when you crashed your car the first three times. It was ok." She said standing up and pacing softly. But then she looked at me and I saw the tears in her eyes and when I did for the first time in my life… I felt guilty.

"But the Molly, and the Percocet's and the pot and the morphine and the Kodine and the alcohol is not ok anymore! IT IS NOT OK LILAH!" She yelled. I flinched at her tone. Because she wasn't just angry like usual she was sad angry. The worst angry. She was hysterical I had never seen her like this before.

"I wake up at three A.M and I'm called into the emergency room to find out that my only granddaughter is in the emergency room after she crashed her car into a department store window… Here I am thinking thank God no one got hurt by your reckless driving only to have a doctor tell me that the reason you crashed is because you had enough drugs in your system to sedate a 300 pound man. And that he has no idea how you are alive!" She yelled crying.

"All I could think is… what if you were human… If you were human you would have died that night." She said softly.

"Grams I promise not to do it again. You can take my money, ground me… Just stop crying." I said softly all but begging her. "I'm sorry Grams." I said tears coming to my own eyes.

"Sweetie I get it ok I do…. I get it because you are just like your mother…. I understand. And that is all your mother ever wanted to be understood she wanted someone to get her pain. I finally figured it out… you want to be understood." She said softly wiping her tears away with a napkin. She came to me sitting on her desk top in front of me. Taking my hands into hers.

"You're sad. I know Lilah I do…. And you want someone to understand how sad you are. That was all your mother wanted too…. It's how she met your dad. He understood how to make her happy." She said softly as she cried thinking about her lost daughter in law and son.

"But honey…. You've lost your way and I don't know how to help you find it anymore." She said crying again. "It is ok to hate your parents for leaving you when you were so young. It is ok to be angry… Which is why I let you be angry for all these years but… that anger is turning into recklessness and I'm not going to lose you to this." She said softly. I started to cry now not being able to stop it.

"I just… always hear her singing." I said as I cried. "She's always in my head and he's always in my head too. And I just… want them to go away. Because it isn't fair. It isn't fair that everyone in this entire estate has some good memory of them and all I have is a line from song that haunts me every time I'm sober." I said as I cried she cried with me.

"I'm sorry sweetie but I have to do this… I need to protect you from yourself." She whispered.

"Do what?" I asked as I cried.

"I'm sending you to La Push where your mother grew up." I gasped.

"Grams!" I said threw my tears she shook her head.

"Honey it is not to punish you I promise… it is just to save you. Your grandmother has a really large house over there that your mother had built for her in the will. You'll be comfortable. But… I need you to go there because one I need you to lay low. And two … I need you to find yourself. Your mother ran away and found herself in New York. I need you to go and find yourself in La Push… I need you to stop running away from where you come from and who you are before you kill yourself." She said. I just cried softly and she put her forehead to mine as she cried too.

"I'm sorry." I said softly.

"I'm sorry too." Was all she whispered. Before she wrapped her arms around me tightly and continued to cry.

Leah P.O.V

*Present day*

"Zavior just sign it!" I said frustrated.

"No." he barked as he typed furiously on his cell phone. It's been two weeks since all of the La Push wolves and Vampires had all but moved into my house as we worked to fight in this war. It was utter and complete chaos. If not working on war strategies the vampires just sat there looking like a bunch of freaking statues. The wolves could never be bored because they started utter and complete destruction. They broke things they argued over video games. I had forgotten what it was like to be around utter and complete morons. The boys though they loved them. The wolves and vampires would engage them in all kinds of games. They were excited at the prospect of having so many new family members around that they had never even heard of before. Every morning when they woke up for school they asked if everyone was still here. When they did that I felt kind of bad that I had kept them from their family for so long. Tensions were running high we spent all our time trying to work on this war that we would soon be in with the Medici's and if not we were driving each other crazy. Like Zavior was currently doing right now.

"I am trying to solidify our children's future." I barked at him. We've been bickering at each other the past week. I don't remember arguing this much with him since we first got together.

"I don't care. I'm not signing it because it's not necessary." He said in his suit as he typed away on that phone.

"Ok children what's the matter" Esme said coming in and pouring us refills of orange juice. I stared at her she had become chum chummy with the in house chef and spent all her time in the kitchen with him cooking if she wasn't helping with preparation.

"Zavior will not sign the will." I said glaring at him. He kept on looking at his phone pretending like he couldn't see me. Esme's face softened.

"Leah maybe Zavior just thinks it's morbid."

"I don't care. It is also very, very responsible we cannot deny the fact that one if not both of us can possibly die and we have billions of dollars in assets that people will try to take from the kids if we do not solidify it not just magically but mortally." I said holding up the pen and furiously pointing to the will to add emphasis. Edward was walking by and I stopped my brother in law.

"Edward!" I said he looked at me. "You have a kid… don't you have legal ways to leave Renesme what's hers if you die." I asked him. He shook his head.

"I mean… we're vampires. Short of burning in fire and the Volturi… we're most likely going to live forever." He said I glared at him.

Edward. He needs to sign this will you dumbass.

I thought.

"But it is a very responsible thing to do if you are a human." He backtracked quickly.

"Do you really think I don't know that Leah is speaking to you in her thoughts." Zavior said not looking up from his phone. "I've been married to her for more than five years I know how sneaky, scary and conniving she can be." He said bluntly still typing away on that blackberry.

"You know what I'm going to ignore you because if I acknowledge what you just said. I'd probably try to kill you myself… Before the Medici's can." I snapped

"Ok. Ok let's relax." Zavior's mother said walking in with my mother whom I've been ignoring like the plague since she got here. "What is going on" Sylvia said

"Your asshole of a son won't sign the last will and testament that guarantees that the kids get everything in the estate." I said. Sylvia looked at her son and rolled her eyes.

"Well I mean is it really necessary. Mathis and I will take care of the kids if anything you know that." She said.

"Yeah I guess but I know you have a little Barney's shopping addiction I just want to make sure that your grandchildren's fortune doesn't feed that addiction when Zavior and I are dead." I said rolling my eyes. Esme snickered and Edward laughed softly. Sylvia rolled her eyes.

"Oh please I would never do that. And Zavior stop being a child and sign the will." Sylvia said. "This is your kids futures that you may not be in and you need to make sure their safe magically and mortally… that involves finances." She said scolding her son. Zavior stood up in frustration.

"It is not just about the will she wants me to sign all kinds of things. On who gets to raise my kids if I die. Affirmations of the five covens and now a will. She's making me sign my kids away and I'm not even gone." He said aggravated. I took a deep breath and touched my forehead. Sylvia's face softened.

"Zavior the whole point of this process is that you might be. Even if it's not the Medici's you survived a war that's great…. But if you decide to stop phasing… you're going to die one day. Like me like your father. You're just protecting your kids." She said the last part softly. Zavior looked at me and then his mother and then glared before he grabbed the pen from me and scribbled

Zavior Connell

Right under my name. Just then the boys were walked in with Syda and Jenny in their school boy uniforms. Ready for school.

"Mama do we have to go to school today. What if Emmett does something cool and we miss it." Zane says trying to yank off his tie. I stopped him from doing so and fixed it. This was an every morning thing right now. The boys had taken quickly to Emmett for obvious reasons. Because he was a child just like them. I had no idea how Rosalie dealt with him most of the time.

"Yeah mommy what if he teaches the dog how to dance again?" Zachary whines. Emmett comes into the kitchen and the boys run to him.

"I promise boys I won't do anything cool till you get back from school." Emmett says going down to their levels.

"Promise." They echoed.

"Promise." Emmett said.

"Daddy says a promise isn't a promise till you give a paw." Zane says holding out his hand the way a dog would give a paw. I smiled softly and Zane did too. Emmett looked at Zavior who shrugged with a smile and Emmett did it.

"Ok go to school and when you guys get back you have to teach me something you learned ok?" Emmett said.

"Ok." The boys said giving him and coming to Zavior and me giving us kisses on the cheek. I was fixing and primping them as they ran away towards the front door where they were loaded into the Rolls Royce that brought them to school every morning.

"Be good. No magic no pranks on your teachers." I said repeating the same speech I did every day.

"Sure, Sure!" They both yelled as the car drove away with them. I walked into the living room and Bella who was standing beside Edward just looked at me.

"Leah… Can you go wake up Renesme… She's been sleeping like crazy lately she likes it when you wake her up." She said. I nodded. Bella came closer to me. "She's been kind of quiet the past few days… Jacob's noticed it too. I know she likes talking to you do you think maybe you can get her to talk?" Bella asked me quietly. I nodded silently and ran into the kitchen grabbing a tray with medical things on it before I snuck up to the room Renesme and Jacob were put in. I walked in and raised my hands up to magically soundproof the room. She was sitting up in the bed her long auburn hair was down in waves. I looked over to the bassinet where Lilah was kicking away in her crib giggling. I looked over at her and smiled a little bit before returning to Renesme.

"Did they suspect anything?" She asked.

"No but they're starting too." I snapped at her as I gave her the medication I'd been slipping her for days since she told me.

"You need to tell Jacob Renesme he's worried about you. Yesterday he asked me what the symptoms for cancer were…. Cancer." I stressed.

"If I tell him he won't want me to fight and I have to help." She stressed as she groaned a little when I injected her with the needle. The only needle that could pierce vampire skin and give her the vitamins and nutrients that she'd need.

"Understandably so Renesme you're pregnant with his baby. If I was him I wouldn't want you fighting either. For God sakes can we at least tell Zavior I mean it's going to be part human, vampire-wolf? It's a whole new species. I'm sure you have to register it or something" I barked at her.

"Keep your voice down." She snapped.

"The room is magically soundproofed don't worry." I said as I gave her some more vitamins in a pill form. She swallowed it.

"Look. Despite this being morally wrong because I'm lying to my husband and my sister-

I said and she rolled her eyes.

"You only say she's your sister when you're trying to guilt trip me."

"It doesn't matter."

"That's wrong."

"Well you know what I'm older so what I say matters more." I said to her roughly. She rolled her eyes and when I was done giving her daily dosage of medications that would get her through the day she got dressed and the two of us went downstairs together to be with the rest of the crew in the lab.

"Ok." Zavior said as we all gathered around to hear what was new. I went and stood beside him.

"Carlisle has decoded the spell to the ultimate power." He announced. The wolves howled and Embry clocked him on the back.

"But the problem is it's a very specific spell that needs to be said under certain coordinates at a certain time. If we get this spell done correctly when we meet with the Medici's we can go into a full blown attack that they won't be ready for." I informed them.

"Fighting dirty I like it." Embry said and Jacob nodded in agreement.

"We use the spell tonight well technically tomorrow but we have to be strong the spell can actually physically drain us." I inform them.

"I still think this is a bad idea." Kevil sang as he spun in in circles in an office chair.

"I think it's a great idea. What's a little danger." Candice said as she walked around.

"Actually a little danger can easily result in death" Esme said "But this plan is perfect enough to work."

"Let's hope so." I said. I heard a cry from a baby monitor and automatically Zavior and I looked towards it. The next thing I knew Lilah was zapped into his arms and he was bouncing with her softly. I looked at him and rolled my eyes.

"I tell you not to zap her she could be getting dizzy." I said as I took her from him softly.

"Can I hold her?" Renesme asked. I looked at her softly "Sure," I said putting Lilah in her arms gently. Lilah immediately started to kick and laugh and then she did something that just fucked Renesme and I over. She projected me and Renesme talking from this morning and everyone saw it.

"If I tell him he won't want me to fight and I have to help."

"Understandably so Renesme you're pregnant with his baby. If I was him I wouldn't want you fighting either. For God sakes can we at least tell Zavior I mean it's going to be part human, vampire-wolf? It's a whole new species. I'm sure you have to register it or something"

Lilah projected the two of us in the room as I gave Renesme her medicine and Jacob stood up slowly.

"So I guess the room was only proof but not Lilah proof." I muttered looking up at Zavior's amused face.

"You're pregnant and you didn't tell me?" Jacob barked. Renesme got tears in her eyes.

"I was just-

"We said no more lies." Was all Jacob said angrily before he stormed out. Renesme put Lilah in my arms and followed after him leaving behind a room of shocked, some angry and confused people. I looked down at my giggling daughter in my arms.

"The minute you are old enough to have a social life you are grounded forever." I said to her adorable giggling face. Zavior just chuckled before he looked around the room.

"Everyone start combat training in the yard… Let them handle their personal business. Get to work." Is all he said before Syda came in and took Lilah.

"Come on miss Lilah time for a nap. I think you've done enough for one day." She said as she carried the royal snitch out of the room.

I just have a quick little note. A lot of you guys were saying Leah and Zavior need to protect their kids better and I just want to point out that the even with the security they have theirs always going to be someone who can get through. ALWAYS. Must I remind you that this is the reason Zavior never wanted Leah to have kids in the first place. He knows that no matter how powerful they will never be truly one hundred percent safe and that's the gamble of their lives. I just thought I would point that out.
