Chapter 25
Dom's POV
By noon two days later I had some renters who could take the house by the next day. I arranged a flight to fly out the evening the renters came in. But before I left I needed to straighten things out with Letty. I hadn't meant to invade her like that. It was stupid and it was just old times catching up on me. Knowing Letty she wouldn't answer my calls. I pulled out my laptop and searched all the garages in the surrounding area also using Letty's name as a cross reference. It didn't take long. It was a very top rated garage not too far from here called LA Mechanicas. I dialled the phone number and listened.
"La Mechanicas," said a very familiar voice.
"Letty it's me. Please just don't hang up the phone,"
"Dom-"
"Letty I'm sorry I never should have done that. I just want us to be friends again. I've know you forever Letty. You were were my best friend for a long time and I want to go back to that place,"
"I don't know what to say Dom but that I want you to be here by July 23rd,"
"What?"
"It's my wedding Dom,"
I knew that was Letty's way of moving on.
"Of course, but that's in two weeks!"
"I know, I just want a small wedding,"
"I'm leaving tonight but I'll see you then,"
"Bye Dom,"
"Bye,"
I hung up the phone. I never should have let her go.
Letty's POV
I looked down to the papers and magazines strewed across my desk. All of them for the wedding. I sighed, even though it was a small wedding there was still so much to do. I had organized a caterer for the reception which would be held in a hotel ballroom close to the beach we were to be married on. Our guest list had under 50 people and many of them were from Matts side. I pushed my hair back out of my face. This was a lot harder than it looked. I looked down to a list in front of me. It held the names and numbers of the possible wedding officiator. I picked up my phone and started dialling. I crossed out name after name. One said we had to be Catholic, another was gay, another asked if we wanted him to dress up as Elvis or Johnny Cash, etc. Finally I found someone. He was a minister from a baptist church and didn't seem to have rules or conditions. I rolled my chair away from the desk stretching my arms above my head. Camilla walked in.
"You ready?" She asked
We were heading out to go dress hunting. She would be my maid of honor and all of my bridesmaids in one. We needed her dress and mine. They needed to be ready to go in our sizes. We didn't have time to order them in and for them to be altered dozens of times.
"Yep," I hopped of my chair and grabbed my purse. A few moments later were in a bridal shop. I decided Camilla should go first. The shop we were in only sold dresses off of the rack and you had to find altering somewhere else which was perfect for us. We looked at dress after dress in Camilla's slender size. We soon had a stack and Lia went to the dressing room. I sat down on one of the couches facing the modelling stand dreading my turn to be up there. As I sat I thought. Most girls would have there mother along gushing at how beautiful they looked but I hadn't seen my mother since I was 13 and she was behind a sheet of bulletproof glass. Lia walked over and I smiled. Because of the beach wedding we had decided she would wear a short dress. The one she was wearing made her look like stupid. It was orange and made her tan skin look pasty. We agreed the dress was aweful and she went back into the dressing room. Three more dresses later she walked out wearing a royal blue dress. The top was ruched and it had a silver belt around it. She stepped up onto the stand and twirled around.
"What do you think?"
"I think it's perfect."
Now that we had her dress it was time to find mine. We made our way to the gowns in my size and I grimaced. Lia started handing dress after dress to the lady while only handed her one. After five minutes Camilla had ten dresses picked out plus my measly one. I followed the last to the dressing room and she left me alone. I sorted through the dresses taking out three that were just aweful. The first one I tried on was a mermaid style with lace covering the bodice. I walked out and Lia gasped.
"I hate it," I said turning around before even reaching the stand.
The next dress was a ballgown. It was huge and had rhinestones covering the top. I finally managed to crawl into it. And walk out. I stood in the stand and looked.
"I love it," Lia near shouted
"It's...alright," I said unconvincingly.
The next dress was so tight I could barely walk. I took me forever to reach the stand and then I turned right back around. The next dress I pulled on was an a-line dress with skinny straps. The back was completely lace and other than a small beaded belt around the middle, it was completely white with nothing frivolous.
"I guess four is our lucky number, because this is the one," i said as I walked to Lia.
"It's perfect," she said her eyes shining.
My phone started ringing and I walked to my purse and grabbed it. Answering I said,
"Hello?"
"Hey babe,"
"Matthew," I said melting into the phone. From the corner of my eye I could see Camilla rolling her eyes.
"I'm coming home,"
"Today?"
"I'll be back at the apartment at 10:40 tonight,"
"Omigosh that's amazing!"
"But I have some news that have to tell you,"
"What?"
"I'll tell you when I see you,"
"Matt-"
He hung up and I smiled. Camilla looked at me.
"Matthew is coming home tonight!" I said giddily.
She smirked.
"Let's go pay for these dresses."
I changed back into my clothes and we took our dresses to the counter. Matthew had given me a credit card specifically for the wedding. I charged the dresses to it but when I saw the total I felt bad. They bagged our dresses and we walked out onto the streets with them. Lia handed hers to me and kissed me on the cheek.
"Bye," she said
"Where are going?"
"Places to be, people to see," she said sassily.
She walked away saying,
"See ya later honey!"
"Have fun at the bar!" I yelled after her jokingly.
"Have fun blowing your boyfriend," she yelled back.
I smirked and shoved the dresses into my car.
~10:47~
I sat on the couch staring anxiously at the clock. Watching the seconds tick by. I heard a slight click and I raced off of the couch towards the door. Matthew was standing there. He dropped his suitcase and I jumped into his arms. I wrapped my legs around his waist and burried my face into his neck. I pulled my head up and he kissed me gently. He carried me to the bedroom still kissing me. I had totally forgotten about the news. He placed us on the bed and started to take further actions. He stopped me.
"I have to tell you my news,"
"I totally forgot! Tell me!" I said impatiently.
"I got a promotion,"
"How is that even possible?" I asked.
"Well it is and offers a lot more money,"
"Baby, that's great!"
"But there's a catch,"
"What is it,"
"They want me to move,"
"Where?!"
"Vancouver,"
