Chapter 26

"Hey, Cub, what exactly did you say to those other guys, anyway?" Eagle asked, jogging to catch up with me.

We had been walking for about 20 minutes, in the direction in which, if I remembered currently, was the way to the nearest town.

Then again, the last time I had come this way, I had half dead and quite delirious.

"Oh, you know, just basically warned them that if they tried to fight back again I'd kill them" I replied casually, shivering slightly against the cold.

I had long since taken off the jacket, and wrapped it around my chest in different strips, in an effort to help stop the bleeding.

No such luck.

He gave me a weird look, "... But why not say it in English? What language even was that?"

"Russian" I replied.

He stared at me, "Russian? Why on earth was it Russian?"

"It helped to get the point across".

"... But how did you know they even all spoke Russian?" He asked again, completely confused, and I abruptly stopped, turning to face him and the others, "... Who do you think captured us?"

"Well, Chiron, obviously" Eagle muttered, rolling his eyes, and I sent him a small glare, "Asides from that moron. Who do you think Chiron worked for?"

"He worked for someone?" Snake asked slowly, trying to piece it together bit by bit.

I took a deep breath, "You guys really don't know who kidnapped us, do you?"

They all shrugged.

I stared at them, "... You got to be kidding me".

"What?" Wolf asked annoyed, and I turned to him, "The last time I got caught. Who was it by?"

"Damn, how the hell should I know?" He growled, glaring at me, and I returned the look, "Because I told you back at camp moron".

"Well, if you did, I don't remember" He shot back, and I opened my mouth, about to let out a very colourful sentence, but before I could, Snake stopped me by interrupting, "You said it was Scorpia, didn't you?"

I glanced over at him, "Exactly. And how long was I with them for?"

"Six months".

"And how many markings were on that wall back in the cell?" I questioned again, and he frowned in concentration, "180? 181? Roughly around... Six months".

I stared at him once more, waiting for it to click.

When he finally did get it, he immediately paled, "You... You mean... That was... Chiron was... He...".

"Chiron was the single last remaining leader of Scorpia that survived an explosion I caused. I managed to kill the other eleven with the bomb. Unfortunately, that bastard was out on a sick day when I planted it, and by the time it detonated, it was too late to go back. Since then, he's held a tremendous grudge against me".

"And I wonder why" Wolf muttered.

Eagle frowned, "So... You're telling us that... Chiron was one of the leaders of SCORPIA?"

I nodded, "Yep... Though now that all 11 leaders are dead, they'll have to be another election for the new guys to step into power... Chances are, that my next mission will involve finding out where that meeting is being held, and blow up the building".

They stared at me.

I stared right back.

It was silent for a minute.

"Hey, is that a pub?"

We all turned to Eagle, only to find him focused on something in the distance, eyes narrowed in attempt to see it clearer in the fast dying light.

I quickly followed his gaze, and noticed a small light in the distance.

A light that spelt out something.

Most likely the name of the pub.

We had reached the town.

Grinning, I ran on ahead, relief swarming through me as I began to recognise my surroundings.

Then I tripped over something, and stumbled, managing to catch myself at the last time.

The action, however, had pulled even worse at the bullet wounds, and I found myself doubled over, coughing heavily as violent tremors shook through my body.

"Hey, Cub, you alright?"

I glanced back as Wolf took a wary step towards me, and quickly wiped the blood on my pants, forcing a grin, "Course. How else am I gonna get you morons home?"

He didn't seem all her convinced.

Forcing myself to pull it together, I quickly straightened back up, ignoring both Snakes, and Wolfs, worried gaze, and sprinted over to the nearest phone booth, glad to see it was free of charge.

Picking up the phone, I reached up to dial MI6's number, before suddenly hesitating.

Eagle frowned, "What's the matter?"

"Nothing, I just... Would you mind if I didn't call Mrs. Jones?"

"Well, who else could we call? I hardly think the Sergeant would be the most impressed" Wolf pointed out, and I nodded, "I know, but... I just don't think involving the British Government right now is such a great idea. I mean, who knows what they'll hold against us?"

"But if we don't call the Brits, then who do we call?" Snake asked, and I stared at them for a minute, before grinning, "Leave that to me".

It was less than 15 minutes later, when a jeep pulled up next to us, and a man that looked to be in his early 20's stepped out.

When he saw me, he glared, "Călăreț".

(Rider)

I matched his dangerous tone, "Brutar".

We stared at each other for a minute, before he broke out in a grin and slung his arm over my shoulder, "Ce mai faci, puștiule?"

(How you doing, kid?)

I smirked, "O, stii, tocmai am primit un cuplu bullet răni și coaste rupte aici și acolo. Și tu?"

(Oh, you know, just got a couple bullet wounds and cracked ribs here and there. And you?)

He shrugged, "Nu mai bin" Then he saw K-Units confused looks, "... Să înțeleg că tipii ăștia nu vorbesc araba, atunci?"

(Never better... I take it that these guys don't speak Romanian?)

I shook my head and he sighed, "English it is, then".

I smirked at his obvious annoyance, before turning back to the soldiers, "Brutar, this is K-Unit, Eagle, Wolf, and Snake. Guys, this is Brutar. He's a contract killer, and our ride".

The three men all paled slightly, and Brutar laughed, "Don't worry, I'll won't try to kill you. I have no wars against the British... For now".

They paled even more.
