-Chapter Twenty Five-

-Leonardo-

Leonardo stealthily crept through the darkened building, eyes narrowed with steely determination. Donatello and Michelangelo followed behind him just as silent, both with identical looks of resolve written on their features.

Leonardo stopped and held his hand up in a silent signal. His eyes scanned the interior surroundings of the old building, taking in the large windows, the thick pipes that criss-crossed the ceiling like large metallic veins, and the metal catwalks suspended from the ceiling, dangling almost precariously two stories above.

Leo eyed the Purple Dragons with barely suppressed fury. The twenty or so thugs walked about the room, unaware of the terrapin visitors. Leo clutched his katanna tighter in his fist, ignoring the blood that already stained the blade a dark red. Leo had always taken the ways of Bushido seriously, and always fought with honour, trying not to kill an opponent unless the circumstances were absolutely necessary. Now was one of those times. These people had hurt his family too many times. Taking his critically injured brother away from his family again was the final straw. Leo wasn't just out to rescue his brother now; he was out for blood and retribution.

He just hoped Don and Mikey were okay. Despite the rage that was flowing freely through his veins, Leo always wanted to protect his two youngest brothers against the violence and the hatred of the world. They had just watched Leo kill two Purple Dragons in cold blood. But it had been worth it. They had gotten the location of where Raphael was being held, and now that they were here, they weren't going to leave without their fourth brother.

"What do you think it is they want with Raph anyway?" Mikey whispered, being careful to keep his voice low.

"Probably to finish what they started," Leo whispered back grimly.

"So what's the plan?" Don asked, twirling his Bo Staff nervously.

"We find where they're keeping Raph, and get him out, no matter what the cost," Leo replied firmly. "We're bringing our brother home, tonight."

Mikey and Don nodded in agreement, their weapons poised and ready.

"Try to split up, take out as many as you can. If we can't find Raph, they will bring us to him."

-Raphael-

Raphael wondered how long it had been. He was completely numb; all sense of time and reality had warped beyond his perceptions. His brothers were dead. There wasn't even a point to continue living anymore. He wished Bishop would just kill him already. He was sick of this room, of the torture, of the agonising hole in his heart brought on by the loss of his brothers. They had died trying to save him, and it was all his fault.

I deserve to die,the thoughts raced wildly around Raphael's mind. At least that way I'll be with my brothers again.

I did this to them.

Weak

Pathetic

Failure

"How's the self-wallowing going?" Bishop asked maliciously, entering the room with a jaunty hop to his step.

"Fuck you," Raphael whispered, not even having the energy to feel any hate towards this vile, pathetic excuse of a human that had ruthlessly taken his family away from him.

Another man entered the room, a tell-tale tattoo on his arm labelling him as a Purple Dragon.

"Are you sure he won't put up a fight?" The man asked Bishop, completely ignoring Raph.

"Quite sure," Bishop replied with a smirk. "I did figure out a way to take the fight out of him after all; funny how everything pans out exactly according to plan."

"It's getting pretty intense in there," the Purple Dragon said, jerking his thumb in the direction of the door he had just come through.

"Good," Bishop said. "Make sure they see you. I want to see the devastating horror on their faces."

"Will do," Purple Dragon nodded.

Raphael didn't have the energy to even bother listening to the conversation or try to figure out what they were talking about. He only hoped that this man would kill him already.

The Purple Dragon bent down and started to undo the bonds that were holding him down. Raphael was momentarily confused, and for a split second considered fighting this man, before remembering that he was the last of his kind left, and fighting was now a moot point. The sooner he died the sooner he could rejoin his brothers and beg for their forgiveness.

He let the Purple Dragon yank him off the cold hard surgical table. He didn't move and didn't kick up a fuss when he wrapped a beefy arm tightly around his neck. He allowed himself to be dragged out of the room limply, his one-eyed gaze falling onto Bishop's smug and triumphant face.

-Leonardo-

Leonardo wiped the sweat from his brow and looked around. There were only a few Purple Dragons left now. Bodies lay strewn across the floor, broken and bleeding. Leo's breathing was harsh and ragged. He hadn't stopped fighting yet. He could no longer count how many eyes he had looked into as he watched the life slowly drain away. All he cared about was finding his missing brother.

Don and Mikey were panting beside him, their heads starting to droop with exhaustion.

"Come on," Leo gasped, making his way up to the first catwalk. "There are more rooms up here."

"Turtle!" A voice called, echoing in the silence.

Leo looked up towards the sound and felt his heart drop to the pit of his stomach. He heard Don and Mikey gasp behind him as their eyes followed Leo's and locked onto the single weak, amber gaze of Raphael.

-Raphael-

Raphael knew that he had to be locked in a nightmare; a cruel, callous, taunting nightmare that would never end. His gaze locked onto the shocked eyes of his brothers, standing only a few metres away on the cat-walk below him.

But...I saw you die...Raphael thought weakly to himself, blinking in disbelief. I saw what Bishop did to you.

It was a trick

It was all just a trick

This was his plan all along,a voice inside of him whispered.

"Leo, Don, Mikey, you're alive," Raphael choked out weakly, immeasurable relief rushing through him.

"Raph..." Leo whispered in shock, his dark eyes staring in horror at the empty socket where his brother's eye had once been.

"Oh, you like the handiwork huh?" The Purple Dragon sneered, wrapping his arm tighter around Raphael's neck. "Well, what do you think of your brother's new tattoo?" He moved so that Raph's left arm was in view, a purple dragon branded into his skin.

"Let him go," Leo growled lowly, his hands clenching tightly around the hilt of his katanna. "Or I swear you will pay with your life."

"I wouldn't come too close if I were you," the Purple Dragon sneered unconcerned with the threat, a knife appearing in his un-occupied hand.

He pressed the cold steel up against Raphael's throat, a clear warning to Leonardo or his brothers not to come any closer.

"Because if you do I'll slit him, ear to ear."

"Please, just let him go," Leo begged, every instinct inside of him screaming at him to kill this man; to kill this beast that endangered his brother's life. He took a small step forward.

"I said don't move!" The Purple Dragon yelled, tightening his grip around Raphael's neck.

Raphael tried to struggle free from the iron grip, but the Purple Dragon only pushed the knife blade harder against his skin.

Leo clenched his teeth together and made a slight movement to Mikey. If Mikey could slip away unnoticed into the shadows, he could throw a ninja star at this man.

The Purple Dragon's eyes narrowed suspiciously.

"Do it now you fool!"Bishop hissed through his earpiece.

"You want him?" The Purple Dragon said with a smirk. "Then come and get him."

Raphael felt the bite of the knife nick his throat as he was suddenly pushed forward. The ground disappeared from beneath his feet, and the next thing he knew, he was falling; plunging to the hard concrete floor, two stories below.
