A Light in the Darkness

Chapter 25- Goodbye Miss Nice Girl

It took only ten minutes for Hadley to lead the two vampires to the Fellowship's house. What they heard on arrival stunned them all. There was screaming coming from within. A lot of screaming. But, it wasn't the sound of a wounded or frightened southern belle. It was the sound of men dying.

"You sick fucks have had all the chances I'm willing to give. Take that!" Sookie screamed.

Eric smiled down at his maker. "Shall we join her?" Hadley was already charging towards the house, but Godric was momentarily stunned. His beautiful Sookie, his light, was the cause of this destruction? He smiled.

"Let's make them pay!"

The room was filled with the acrid stench of blood. Screams reverberated off the walls; leaving an eerie echo. The sight of mutilated corpses was shocking. Vampires they may have been- and this certainly excited them- but the thought of such horror being inflicted by sweet Sookie Stackhouse was more than they could believe.

"What took you so long?" Her body was soaked red with the blood of her victims. Her golden hair matted with. Yet, still her charming smile greeted them.

"I have to say that I approve," Eric stated; fingering the still warm section of an arm with distaste.

Sookie didn't have a chance to speak. Godric has her pressed against him and was kissing her violently. Hadley snickered at the sight.

"Hold up, Mister!" Sookie complained, pulling away at the taste of blood- human blood.

"Are you alright, Lux Mea?" Godric questioned calmly.

Sookie shrugged her shoulders. "I know you're worried. I can guess what y'all are thinking…but, I just couldn't take it anymore! I'm not proud of this," she gestured to the massacre around her. "But I ain't apologising for it neither. I have been beaten, stabbed, almost raped, kidnapped, and drugged…no more! It had to stop and for once I had the power to do it myself. No more sitting on the side-lines; playing the victim!"

"I'm impressed!" The statement was so sincere and reverent that, coming from Eric, it was hilarious. They all burst out laughing.

"We're going to have to clean up this mess!" Hadley moaned after a few minutes.

Sookie giggled; slapping her on the back. "Cheer up, Cuz. A little magic will get the job done."

"What do you mean?" Hadley asked, confused.

Sookie didn't answer. Instead, closing her eyes she started to chant. "Insmai, Cartum doe na ecti!"

The gasp of surprise told her it had worked and she opened her eyes to see the room was back to its perfect condition.

"Where did they go?" Eric questioned a curious edge to his voice.

"The ether has absorbed it." She looked down at her ruined outfit, "Well, most of it."

"Come on, my love," Godric murmured into her hair, "Let's go and get you cleaned up."

A few hours later, Sookie was sat on Godric's lap relaxing in the 'sun room'. She had explained everything that had happened and all she had learnt. The queen had been most impressed, and thankful, for her efforts. Hadley had been upset when Sookie told them about the demon child and the cousins had shared a moment of shared pain.

"So, have you given anymore thought to what you will do next?" Eric's question was innocent enough, but it still earned him a scowl from his maker.

"I have, actually," Sookie smiled softly.

"Oh?" Godric probed. The bond was suddenly filled with curiosity and amusement.

"How many supe children do you think have a hard time at school?"

The queen blurted the answer out without thought, "All of them!"

Sookie smiled sadly, "That's what I thought. Even if they don't have secret abilities then they are forced to keep the secret of who they really are. I want to set up a school just for supes. It can be a place where they can learn in safety."

For a long moment, several minutes in fact, none of the vampires said a word. Sookie began to feel self-conscious and foolish when the queen grinned at her.

"That is a wonderful idea! When will you begin?"

Sookie beamed under the praise, "as soon as we get back from our travels." She smiled even wider at the tightening of Godric's arms around her.

The queen tapped her chin in thought. "I know a wonderful witch who will be able to help you. Her name is Amelia Broadway."

"I am proud of you, Lux Mea," Godric crooned. They were in the car on the way to see the demon family. Sookie had wanted to pop again but Godric had requested the car ride due to a need to be alone. It was an argument he would always win.

"How do you mean?"

"You have given your options a great deal of thought and chosen to do something that will help thousands over time. I don't think you realise the full implications of your idea, but you will." He smiled at her and the sight made her want to jump him.

Sookie blushed, "Are you sure you aren't just glad I killed those guys?"

Godric gave her a hard stare. "As happy as I am that they are dead; I would never have wanted you exposed to such things. You put on a good show for the others, but I know how much these actions cost you. I know they will haunt you for a long time."

"Yes," she agreed easily. There was no hiding from her bonded. "But I had to do it. I had to get my power back or I would have always been in the shadows." No more was said on the matter, but they both knew she was right.

Godric pulled up to the house and slowed to a stop. Neither of them moved to get out and the silence dragged on. Sookie gazed out of her window.

"He is waiting for me. They all are," she sighed.

Godric gripped her hand, "You do not have to do this," he assured her.

"Yes, I do."
