AN- Another chapter done! I wrote instead of doing the tiny amount of homework I have :) Hope you all like the chapter!

Just after

"Éponine!" exclaimed all men in unison. At the same time, Énjolras, Combeferre, Joly, and Grantaire went running to her aid. Énjolras got there first, and through open her door.

"Éponine, are you alright?!" asked Énjolras frantically. Éponine was sitting up in her bed, covered in sweat and breathing heavily. She had a terrified look in her eyes.

"Éponine," Joly started, "you need to lie back down, or your wounds will open back up." Sure enough, after coaxing her to lie back down, a red stain of blood spread across her chest. "Let me get my things. Énjolras, make sure she doesn't move!" Joly then left the room to fetch his medical bag.

"Éponine, are you alright?" Énjolras asked again, a little more calmly.

"Yeah, I'm fine," she croaked out. Énjolras grabbed the glass of water at her bedside table and helped her take a drink.

Énjolras looked at Éponine's hands and saw that they were trembling. She definitely wasn't alright.

He put down the glass, and then reached out and grabbed her hands. "Éponine, you can tell me what's wrong." He sat there a few moments, waiting for her to say something, when Éponine's eyes began to fill with tears.

In between sobs, Éponine explained. "It… It was horrible! I got shot… and Mar… Marius just walked away as I fell… He didn't even care! He didn't even bother to help me…"

Énjolras reached forward to push aside a stray hair in her face. He cupped her cheek gently and smiled sympathetically. Of all people, he knew how badly it felt to wake up from a dreadful nightmare.

"It's alright, Éponine," he said softly. "It was just a dream. You're okay now." And with that, Énjolras let go of Éponine's hand, but couldn't help but notice her slightly reaching out for him once more. He looked up into her deep, brown eyes and smiled. She smiled back sheepishly, wiping away her tears with her good hand.

"Thank you, Énjolras," she said. "You're a good friend." Right after she said that, Éponine wished she could take it back. She saw him almost wince, just slightly, and felt horrible. Now knowing Enjolras's feelings, she didn't want to hurt him. She knew that he wasn't very good with women, and figured that she was probably the only girl he had ever fancied. It made Éponine smile at the thought of the high and mighty Énjolras fancying a girl. She wondered if maybe, all this time, she had been falling for him, too.

While Éponine contemplated her potential feelings for Énjolras, he thought about that, too. Ever since he had admitted it, Énjolras had hoped that maybe Éponine had heard him, and that just maybe she felt the same way.

Of course she wouldn't. She's still had "her" Marius to worry about. I almost wish that we knew if he was dead! Énjolras thought. They still weren't sure about what happened to him after they left.

Énjolras, worried that his disappointment would show, left Éponine's room rather quickly, just as Joly was returning.

"Énjolras, where are you going?" asked Joly. "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine," he replied harshly, and then left, leaving a disappointed Éponine and three very confused men.

"What happened to him?" asked Joly.

"I don't know," stated Grantaire. "Éponine had just told Énjolras how good a friend he was for helping her, and he just left without saying anything." Joly looked to Combeferre, who nodded. Both men knew why Énjolras was upset. He wasn't very good at hiding his feelings, and they both had talked about their concern for him if Éponine didn't feel the same way. It would kill him. It took him long enough to just like one girl. How long would it take for him to find someone else? Would he be able to find someone else? They would have to fill Grantaire in on Énjolras's new-found feelings soon.
