Chapter 25 (Epilogue)
It was the second night in Orlando for the family and tomorrow would b the first day at theme parks. Jackie and Gabby were taking Maria and Lucas to Disney to go to Magic Kingdom and Antonio and Matt were taking Griffin, Ben, Diego, Freddie and Carla to Universal Studios.
They had just finished dinner and the four adults were sitting on the deck outside overlooking the resort while the kids were all inside doing various things. Ben, Diego, Freddie, Griffin and Carla were mapping out the entirety of the next day at the table while Maria was curled up on the couch in her aunt and uncles room watching TV. Six-month-old Lucas was playing contently with his toys on the floor.
"Mommy, Daddy!" Maria threw open the door and rushed out of the room, "Mommy, Daddy a Disney commercial look at the castle!" She jumped up and down as she ran onto the balcony interrupting the adult's conversation, "Mommy! Daddy! You have to see it!"
Antonio and Jackie looked and smiled at each other. Usually they would tell Maria she shouldn't interrupt but they didn't want to damper her excitement.
"Uh-huh Princess," Antonio lifted her onto his knee, "And that's where you're going tomorrow with Mommy, Auntie Gabby and Lucas."
Maria turned to face her father, "I know. I wish you could go though," She pouted.
"Me too princess but someone has to go with Uncle Matt and watch the trouble makers," He said as the children in question walked out the porch, Griffin carrying Lucas.
"He needs to be changed," He made a face as he handed his adoptive brother over to his parents.
"Well you could always change him," Matt smirked.
"No way!"
"Nice try man," Antonio laughed.
"Had to try," Matt laughed along with his brother in-law as he took Lucas into his arms, "Lets go get you changed huh bud," He smiled to the baby.
"Now," Carla began, "We have our day tomorrow all mapped out. If we get there right at nine when it opens we can go to Harry Potter World and spend the morning there and-
"And then we can have lunch at the Three Broomsticks and then go to Superhero land and go on the Incredible Hulk ride," Griffin interrupted his cousin.
"And Diego and I want to go on all the water rides," Ben added.
"Oh and we want to stay until it closes," Freddie stated, "Do all the rides again in the dark."
"Well then," Matt looked at the children, "You four better get to bed early then. It looks like we're going to have a long day tomorrow."
"I agree," Antonio, added, "I think you should be in bed by nine that's in two hours so if I were you I'd start getting ready now."
"I call the shower first!" Carla sprinted ahead of Freddie towards the front door to go back to their family's condo that was just next-door.
Jackie stood up, "I'll go with her," She kissed Antonio on the cheek, "Come on sweetie," She took Maria's hand and helped her down off Antonio's knee. "We'll come back before the kids go to bed and say goodnight."
"Sounds like a plan," Gabby spoke as she smiled when Lucas now changed and wearing a pair of green pajama's reached out for her.
"Ma!"
"Oh how's my baby boy doing?" She cooed as Matt handed him over to her, "Did Daddy get you all cleaned up?" She kissed his stomach giving him raspberries.
Lucas giggled at the contact.
"He does have a cute laugh," Maria spoke up from where she was still sitting on Antonio's lap, "It's better then his cry."
"That's for sure," Griffin agreed. "His cries always wake me up."
"Well he's still only a baby, he just started making sounds," Gabby defended the six month old, "When he's a little older and he can talk hopefully he'll cry less."
"Yeah hopefully," Griffin had to smile as his adoptive brother looked at him and gave him a half toothless smile, "I said you were cute!" He exclaimed, "Geez you'd think he can understand me the way he stares."
"Maybe he can," Carla, laughed, "Sometimes I wondered if Maria could hear everything I was saying."
"He's learning everyday," Gabby told the children, "Now boys," She turned to her sons, "Who wants to have a shower tonight?"
"Me!" Diego smiled, "I love showers!" The eight year old explained. He had just in the past few weeks been allowed to take showers instead of bats and he loved it.
"Alright," Gabby stood handing Lucas to Griffin, "You go grab your PJ's and then come and help me run the water."
"Okay," Ben agreed as he walked ahead of his mother into the condo.
At eight thirty the family was gathered in Antonio and Jackie's condo and the kids were in there pajamas were all having ice cream for desert.
Still with dripping wet hair Maria walked out of the bathroom wearing Minnie Mouse pajamas.
"Well that's right," Matt commented, "Looks like someone's excited for tomorrow. You know when you meet Minnie you should tell her you have pajama's that she's on."
Maria smiled as she walked to her father, "Daddy did you save me some ice cream?"
Antonio pulled a face and looked down at her, "Oh you wanted ice cream?" He tried not to break into smiles as he playfully teases his youngest.
"Daddy!"
Antonio walked to the freezer and pulled out a bowl, "Oh would you look at that maybe we did save some for you," He winked as he handed it down to her and gave her a spoon, "Now eat up so that Mommy can braid your hair; we don't want to be combing it out tomorrow."
"No," Maria agreed.
"She's not going to sleep tonight anyways," Jackie scooped the last of the ice cream into a bowl for herself, "She's too excited for tomorrow. Hopefully she'll be able to nap at the show we're planning to see after lunch."
"You're so smart," He kissed her cheek.
"Ewe!" Gabby pulled a face as she walked into the kitchen area to put her dish away.
Antonio smirked as he swatted her, "Oh you're worse then the kids!"
All six of the older children laughed at the adult's behavior and even Lucas giggled a little although it might not have been for the fighting.
"Alright my boys," Gabby turned and walked back to the table, "Say your goodnights; its time to go next door and get ready for bed."
"I'm not finished yet," Griffin complained.
"Well then hurry up," She handed Griffin and Ben a wet cloth each and watched Matt take a messy Lucas into his arms.
Lucas had ben given only a taste of Matt's ice cream but decided he wanted to eat more so he had grabbed the entire bowl and put his face into it. Now even after he had been cleaned up he was still covered in melted ice cream.
"I'm going to go give Lucas a bath," Matt told Gabby, "Hopefully then all of this will come off. I'll be in our room though so the boys can get ready for bed.
"I'll be in there after the boys are settled," She told him.
Matt kissed her cheek, "Come on sticky fingers lets go get you cleaned up;" He carried Lucas out of the condo and back into theirs. He carried the six month old into the master sweet and into the adjunct bathroom where he turned on the water in the whirlpool tub and set Lucas on the floor.
"Good thing Mommy packed some bath toys eh bud?" grabbed the bag of bath toys from a cupboard and dumped them into the water along with just a smidgen of baby bubbles. He then got the baby shampoo and baby wash ready and picked his son back up off the floor. "What do you say little man? Should we put a water diaper on you? We probably should right?" He laid him down gently on the bed and undid the buttons of the onzie he was wearing. "We'll you're dry now. But Daddy's not going to take any chances," He said as he scooped the baby back onto his hip and proceeded to dig his water proof diapers out of a suitcase.
"Mommy and your older brothers must be back," Matt heard the voices coming from the main part of the condo and he turned off the water and dipped his hand in to make sure it was the right temperature. "It's just right," He concluded and he carried Lucas back to the bed were he took off his onzie and put on the water proof diaper and then carried him back into the washroom where he set him on the floor and striped before picked his son back up and climbing carefully into the bathtub.
Nearly twenty minutes later Gabby walked into the master bedroom and closed the door, "Mattie," She turned the corner and smiled as she saw Matt drying a now very clean and happy Lucas.
"Here I'll take him," She reached for the baby, "You get changed; the boys want to say goodnight to you. They're in their rooms."
Matt kissed Lucas' head, "Alright," He got on a pair of sweat pants and a t-shirt and walked out of the room to say goodnight to Griffin and Ben.
