Hello everyone!
I hope you enjoyed Monday's episode, personally, I don't know what to think about Derek, but I can't wait for next Monday! Anyway, enjoy the new chapter!
Feeling the car come to a screeching halt I looked out the window, waiting for someone to appear. Isaac turned and looked around for a moment.
"You see the twins?"
Peter was quick to respond.
"No."
I sighed, nudging Peter as two people appeared.
"But we see the Argents."
Hearing a howl we looked around for a moment before Peter glanced at me, mouthed sorry, and took off.
"Not to bring up uncomfortable memories, but wasn't the last time you saw them the time you killed kate and then they burned you alive, hmm?"
I sighed, shaking my head at the teen.
"He's gone Isaac."
Jumping out of the car, leaning against it as Isaac hopped out.
"Where are the others?"
I shrugged, trying to keep my nerves in check as I glanced around for my missing mate. Thankfully Isaac came to my rescue before Chris could notice my baby bump.
"Scott and Stiles went back for Derek and Jennifer. We had to get Cora out."
Hearing a car drive up I looked over to see our Toyota driving up causing me to sigh in relief when Derek hopped out. Once he spotted me, he started walking over while Alison decided to question him.
"Where's Scott and Stiles?"
I watched him sigh as he moved to check on me and make sure the baby and myself was safe.
"Stiles is still at the hospital. He's gonna hold off the cops for us."
I nodded before telling him I'm fine so he could focus on Cora and move her to our car.
"We have to go right now."
"What about Scott and Melissa?"
I barely glanced at Chris while helping Derek get Cora situated, curiosity setting in as I noticed the lack of teenagers.
"Jennifer took Melissa."
I stopped and stared at him in shock, the group went silent for a moment before Alison asked the other question that was bothering me.
"What about Scott?"
Derek ignored her until I grabbed him and forced him not to move.
"Derek, where's my brother?"
He sighed, his shoulders shaking a little with repressed rage.
"He's with the alphas."
Shaking my head, I closed my eyes as I felt him hug me.
"I can't let him do this Derek."
"Don't."
I shook my head before taking off in the storm, every nerve on alert as I heard the cars leave.
(Peter's POV)
I watched my nephew reach for Cora's hand again, taking away more of her pain before he cringed and let go.
"Careful."
I watched as his hand shook.
"Don't worry. I know going too far could kill me."
I sighed at his attitude, knowing Abby leaving wasn't helping.
"That's not exactly what I meant."
He turned and looked at me for a moment, his eyes guarded but it was obvious to me he was worried about the two women.
"I've heard it's something only an alpha can do. And with good reason."
"Which is?"
I shook my head, knowing the best way to explain it to him.
"You know normal wolves never abandon an injured member of the pack. They care for it. They bring it food from a kill and then regurgitate it into the mouth of the injured wolf. They even give it physical and emotional comfort by intensely grooming it. In a way, they can do more than just ease pain. They can be instrumental in healing their own."
He leaned across the table at me, obviously my meaning not clear to him.
"If you're trying to tell me I can save her, just tell me."
How suddenly I was reminded how impatient my nephew was without his mate.
"I'm telling you…I've heard it's possible."
"How?"
"It's that spark of power that makes you an alpha. When you take her pain, she draws on the power that provides you with those special gifts. The power that heightens your senses, your strength. The power that transforms your body. As an alpha, you have that bit of extra, that spark intensifies the color of your eyes from a bright yellow to a searing red."
"If I can save her."
I was quick to cut him off.
"If. If. I didn't say it works every time. It could just as easily kill you."
He was silent for a few moments, looking at Cora then looking down at the table, thinking about Abby and the baby if I had a guess.
"How do I do it?"
I looked at him.
"By taking her pain?"
"And then some. Because there's a cost."
Looking down at Cora I placed a hand out to stop Derek from going to her and going through with this plan.
"I can understand not seeing a downside to this, as you haven't exactly been alpha of the year. But think about what else you'd be losing."
"I don't care about power. Not anymore."
I was getting frustrated with him.
"What about the power to fight back? The power to protect? Correct me if I'm wrong, but Kali's ultimatum still stands. The full moon is tomorrow night. Your mate is pregnant, and not able to protect herself like she normally would. If you couldn't beat Kali as an alpha. How do you think you're gonna fare as a beta?"
He turned and gave me a level look, obviously the wheels turning in his head. As he turned to look back at Cora I knew I had to keep talking to get through to him.
"What if this was exactly what Jennifer was hoping for? She would know the only way for you to save Cora would be giving up your power. Maybe that's what she was gonna have you do at the hospital."
He turned to me again.
"Why?"
"So that you wouldn't be able to face the alphas without her. Not if you want to protect Abby. She wants you to come to her. It's all part of her little seduction, and she is still seducing you. She needs you on her side."
Hearing a knock on the door I walked over and there stood Lydia, I starred at her a feeling of guilt hit me.
"You."
I could help but respond with "Me" before yelling for Derek.
"Derek, we have a visitor."
"You don't know where it is, but Stiles said you've been there."
I sighed, the teenager wearing on my nerves.
"We have. But after a few memorable experiences there, Talia—Derek's mother and my older sister—decided that she didn't ever want us going back. She knew how dangerous it was and took the memory of its location from us."
"But then how are we supposed to find it?"
I shrugged, basically telling the teenager I didn't know, in a huff she turned and left, muttering something about unhelpful werewolves. Looking at Derek for a moment before I heard a light thump on the door. Standing up I slowly walked over and slid the door open to reveal an exhausted and filthy Abby.
"What happened little mother?"
She shuddered as I helped her into the loft.
"I followed the alpha pack, but the twins, they spotted me and chased me."
Derek stood up as we were both able to smell blood on her. In the blink of an eye he was making her sit down and was checking her over for any visible wounds.
"I'm healed, I just tripped, I'm fine."
I gave Derek a pointed look.
"See? Your mate needs you. Don't do it."
"Do what?"
She looked between us as Derek was placing his hands on her slowly growing bump, closing his eyes as he used his powers to check on the baby, a trick I taught him the night Abby told us she was expecting. Hearing a cough, we all looked up at Cora.
"Derek, what were you going to do?"
Abby was forcing him to look at her.
"He was going to heal her. By taking away her pain, he could either die or lose his rank as alpha."
"What?"
He sighed, obviously at a loss for a moment before he stood as Cora started panting again.
"Be careful."
He nodded at us before grabbing Cora's arm and started taking her pain away, his veins turning black before he threw his head back and growled, red eyes bright and fangs barred before his eyes turned blue.
So what do we think?
