Laptop is still shot so next chapter may take awhile but hopefully I will get it fixed soon. PC crashed as well so that slows things down as well. Well meh, a non issue! Enjoy, and I hope you all did excellent on your finals!
BEGGINING OF PART 2
Chapter 25:
The Death Stalker sat patiently in his study, his hands clasped over his desk. Behind him, his tail slithered mindlessly as he awaited his summons. He sat and his eyes drifted aimlessly to walls. There hung many paintings, gray and colorless, depicting scenes of death and of large, terrifying Grimm that no longer walked the World of Remnant. He found himself feeling contempt for the ones responsible for their extinction, an angry flame slowly rising his in chest. The shadows in the room began to stir, a red glow piercing through them, and-
A knock from the door came and the shadows returned to normal. Scorpio cleared his throat.
"Enter" he said in his raspy voice, sharp and cold, like a knife being dragged against stone.
The door swung slowly open and Aster peaked his head in.
"Um sir" he muttered. "The council is here to see you."
Scorpio released a small growl. Aster flinched slightly, but composed himself. Scorpio sighed and rose from his desk.
"Let us go then. We wouldn't want to keep them waiting now would we?" he said as he strode towards the door.
Reluctanly, Aster walked beside his master as they trudged down the empty hall. On most days it was packed and lively, with Sorrows doing their jobs or children playing and hoping to catch a glimpse of their glorious leader. But not this day. Not when the Council of Woe gathered. An event like this is rarely happens, but when it does the people know a life changing event is about to-or could already be occuring.
Finally they reached a large set of double doors at the end of the long hall. Scorpio stopped just outside it and looked down at Aster.
"How goes the scouting? Is your sister still monitering their actions?" askes Scorpio.
Aster nodded. "Shes tailing them as we speak."
"Good. Tell her to continue reporting their behaviors, both inside and out of that school. I want a full report on my desk by the time this meeting is over. Understood?"
"Yes sir!" saluted Aster.
"Yes, now be off" said the Master with the wave of his hand.
Aster quickly turned and scurried off, leaving the Death Stalker standing alone just outside the doors. With a growl he pushed through and entered the Meeting Hall.
The room was giant and long, with paintings similar to those in his office stretching across the narrow walls. In the center of the room was a long table with twenty chairs on either side. In every seat sat a Sorrow, each a differnt shape and size, all wearing black cloacks with their hoods pulled down. The room was illuminated by the Moon, shining above through the glass roof above. All except for the seat at the end which was still encased in darkness. It was here that the Master took his seat. At once the mutterings ended: the meeting had begun.
Silence ringed throught the room. The air reeked of nervousness and uncertainty. The empitness of sound began to grow heavy and it seemed someone would soon pass out from anticipation. Finally he spoke.
"Now tell me, Council" said Scorpio menacingly, "why have you taken the time to summon me? I thought we had settled things a year ago."
More nervous whispers were exchanged amongst the council members. Finally a man in the middle to the left of Scorpio stood. He drew his bad back, revealing short, white hair and two tusks that jutted out on each side of his both.
"The Council" said the Councilman, "would like to talk about said plan. We feel that we should discuss amending it, or perhaps coming up with a new one alltogether."
Silence befell them once more. Scopio stood up and leaned his hands on the table. It creaked slightly where his metal hand rested.
"And why," he growled. "Do you wish to that, Mares?"
"It is not what I wish, sir, but what the Council wants. You guarenteed us that the renegade would return as soon as he had been cured. And if that wasn't to work you were to send his team, one by one, untill they told him the truths about this compound. You said that once he knew, he would not, for the love of his people, allow it to continue going on here and would willingly return! It has been well over a year since his escape and he, nor the other Sorrows have shown ANY signs of returning. Naturally we would feel a bit...skeptical as to how full-proof this plan of yours is"
The Council began to grumble signs of approval. Looking pleased with himself, Mares raised his head a little higher. Scorpio lowered his gaze to his hands and his long, oily black hair covered his face.
"Is this all the Council has to say?" he said after some time.
"Yes. It is" replied Mares.
"Ahh. Okay" he whispered back. Suddenly his body began to shake slightly, and a he began to huff with...laughter.
To the astonishment of the the room, the Death Stalker was cackling with laughter.
"Is this the reason you fools called one of your 'legendary' meetings? For that reason alone? Oh by Gust you lot are thick."
The members whispered nervously amongst themselves, some whiping their sweating faces. Even Mares looked slightly unnerved.
"Um, sir, what do you mean?" he asked.
Scorpio raised his head to gaze across the table, his red eyes glaring through his long locks of hair.
"I was never relying on his desire to save the masses alone. No no, I anticipated his change in heart before hand. The serum makes one feel unnatural pride foir their race afterall. Naturally one could anticipate that feeling would go away once it wears off, especially someone like Ookami who was raised by the human filth. No, I'm relying on something far more than his love of this place to bring him back".
"And what would that be, Master?" sneered Mares.
"His hatred of it" he said. "Many of you do not know what I did to that boy in getting him here, what I did to break his mind enough to allow the serum to take control. What I did that night...if he were to remember it, he would undoubtly come running here, screaming for my head."
"How do you know he will run for it? asked a shorter member who remained sitting.
"Because already tried the day he left. Fortunately, he was only able to make off with my hand." he growled, flexing the creaking metal prosthetic.
The council grew quite once more, everyone nervous from the touchy subject.
"And what makes you think he will remember, Master?" piped a smallish woman who stood, her mouth a beak and her hair, feathers.
"I do not think he will, Lady Valor. The memory is highly surpressed due to it being the first one while under the serum. I even took extra measures to ensure he would not remember it. But then again there is one other person who does, someone who knows what I did to the boy, who knows the price that was paid in protecting him. Someone so involved in the event, that his guilt would cause him to spill all the answers when the boy comes asking for them."
"And who might that be?" asked Mares.
Scorpio gave an evil grin at this as he uttered the name. "The Hunter, Ozpin".
On another continent, thousands of miles away from the dark room a boy was being crushed tp death. He growled as he punched the giant on top of him in the jaw. The hand was black and smoke like, curved like a claw. The giant crashed on the floor below and the boy stood atop of him, peering down at it with his glowing, red eyes.
"Surrender!" he demanded as the giant's face began to sweat.
"I surrender!" he squealed as he scrambled away from him.
"Good" he growled. After a few seconds he laughed with delight.
"Aww yes! Told you I could beat him easily. Cmon Jaune, cough it up!" he said.
"Ugh cmon Reemus you so cheated!" said a blonde haired boy from one of the beds. Next to him sat a black haired boy with a magenta highlight who simply smirked at him.
"Ap ap ap, no exceptions" grinned Reemus. Grumbling, Juane put a handful of lien in the boys outstretched hand. Reemus crossed the room and offered his free hand to Ravus who gladly took it and stood up.
"You have a hell of a right hook you know that?" panted Ravus. He faceplanted on his bed and continued to breathe heavily. Reemus went back to his and layed down, putting his hands under his head.
"Anyone know what's taking Rom so long? It's nearly midnight." breathed Ravus
"Well it is a dangerous mission. Perhaps he got caught?" wondered Ren.
"Naw naw, this Romulus we're talking about here. He's a master assassin, how could he get caught?" said Juane. The others looked troubled.
"Well...he doesn't exactly have any back up without his weapons. No Aura or Gust or Semblance. Do you think he...you know?" said Ren.
Everyone turned to Reemus, including Ravus who wasn't sure either. No one knew the Sorrow as well as he did. Reemus turned to them with a face of hard confidence.
"No. If I know Romulus than nothing would stop him from acheiving his goal, even if he only has his weapons. He doesn't need Gust or any of that stuff because he has his heart, his will, and his confidence in himself. That's where he draws his strength. He would fight until the ends of Remant if it meant-"
He was cut short by a sharp rapping from the all turned to see a hooded figure with a large gym bag across his shoulders staring at them with golden eyes. Reemus grinned.
"What'd I tell ya? Someone open the window for him" he said.
Juane got up and crossed the room to open the window. He took the bag from the panting Romulus as he climbed in, out of breath. Juane gently put the bag on one of the beds as Romulus began taking of his dark sweatclothes. He hung his Tomahawks-Silver Vurmack-on the wall next to the door.
"So..." asked Reemus. "How'd your mission go."
Without looking behind he said "Open the bag and find out".
Everyone turned their attention to it as Juane slowly unzipped it. Inside were several cases of whiskey and beer, as well as a glass thing with a metal pipe. Reemus turned to his grinning partner.
"You fucking animal. HOW did you get all this?" Reemus squealed with excitment.
"Oh it wasn't easy. First the guy didn't believe the fake I.D i had-good going Juane" he glared at the blondie.
"Hey I did my-" he protested.
"Shh. So then I tried bribing him to wich he threatened to call the police" he continued.
"What a dick" said Reemus as he shook his head.
"So," he made an annoyed face "I had no choice but to knock him out with my last concussion dart. I put the money on the table, grabbed the booze, and left the store. All in under 2 minutes."
He looked pretty proud of himself and everyone was quite impressed. Reemus patted him on the back and Ravus began helping Ren unload the bag while Juane sat defeated with the knowledge that his I.D was of no help to anyone.
"Hey what's this thing?" said Ren as he held up the glass thing. It was round at the bottom and grew narrow towards the top until it ended at a circular opening. The opening was closed by a round metal pipe that went inside the bowl and a shaft that lead to a small tray with a cermaic mortar on top.
"Oh that thing. It's a hookah. I figured Ravus wouldn't be drinking with us so I thought he'd might like to try it. I know he used to smoke some of it back at the compound right?"
Ravus nodded his head. "Only sometimes though. It's not fun smoking alone and you guys were usually doing other things."
Reemus and Romulus looked at each other nervously. As Reemus had regained his memory he noticed Ravus was absent from a lot of his outings. Come to think of it, Kara was the only one who was really close to the big guy in their old life. Reemus silently vowed to himself not to make the same mistake.
"Well buddy you just got yourself some smoking buddies. How the hell do you work this thing anyways?" asked Reemus as he held up the contraption.
An hour later they were all laughing and drinking and smoking. The room soon smelled of Wild berries and mint and grapes as they smoked differnt flavors of tabacco. The played cards and joked and were having an all around good time. Finally, Romulus stood up and raised a beer glass.
"To Reemus on this momentous night. If it weren't for him, me and Rave here would still be murdering zombies for some giant fucking bug."
"To Reemus!" they all cheered as they took a swig from their glasses (even Ravus who was lightening up to it a little. Romulus sat next to his friend and put a hand on his shoulder.
"Happy 18th birthday big guy" said Romulus.
Reemus chuckled."Thanks man".
~Beacon Acadamy, Ozpin's tower~
Ozpin stood alone, looking out from his office. From where he was standing he had a perfect view of the boys room. They were partying a laughing, drinking and smoking. He watched as Reemus and Romulus began shoving each other playfully while the others tried figuring out a way to play 400 with only three players. He sighed and took a sip from his mug. Behind him the door opened and he heard the tapping of heels approach him.
"Hello Glynda" he said passively.
"Hello Ozpin. Why did you call me here so late? It's past midnight. I was just going to bed and-"
"Glynda I think we need to make a move on the Avengers." he said quietly.
She stopped dead in her tracks behind him. "What?"
"It's high time we put an end to them. It's been almost a year since their last attack at retrieving Reemus. And I know for a fact Scorpio has more powerful allies than the boys three friends. So why hasn't he sent them?"
Goodwitch shook her head. "I have no idea".
Ozpin sighed. "Neither do I. Ironwood is trying to get the council to agree to a full scale war on the Sorrows. Thankfully they are still declining but...how long will it be until they cave in?"
They both stood with uncertainty. Ozpin continued.
"That is why I feel we she send in some scouts to the outer perimeters of the island to perhaps get some more intel on the island. It'll have to be by sea but I do fell that-"
"Ozpin" she said softly. "You wouldn't call me this late to discuss battle plans. What's really on your mind?".
The professor sighed. "It's the boy. I'm worried about him."
Goodwitch put her hand on his shoulder reasurringly.
Ozpin continued. "There is so much about his past he has yet to remember, and even more I feel he never will. I just can't help but wonder...would he still be the happy teenager he is if he knew?"
They turned their gaze to the boys room. They were now playing hot potato with a red rubber ball.
"Do you feel you should tell him?" she whispered. Ozpin simply stared.
"I don't know" he said gravely. The boys were now stumbling and tripping over each other, Ravus passing out on all of them much to their distress.
Goodwhich peered.
"Are they...are they drinking?!"
Ozpin chuckled. "Yes I believe they are."
Goodwhich was appalled. "And you-you're fine with this?"
"Leave it alone Glynda. The boy needs time to be a teen. Afterall," he said as he turned back towards his desk, "his time to be one is running short. Soon, I fear, it will be gone altogether."
