PROLOGUE

I looked up at the dark sky...
As I walked out of the café Ι was currently working and started walking towards the other side of the city. Cold air blew and I shivered. I ziped up my jacket and dug my hands in my pockets in a weak attempt to warm myself.
I walked around people as I sped up not wanting to be late again.
Dr. White wouldn't like that...
New York was so beautiful during the winter...The lights gave the city an almost holiday spirit already even though Christmas were a month away...
I wonder what is he doing now...I always seem to wonder that...Why he didn't call me when he said he would...At least I think he said that he'll call me...I can't remember any more...
Did I say that I'll call? No...I guess I was too scared to say something like that...and afraid that when I would call him he would have already forgotten me.
People were walking with their heads bent down...not paying attention to anyone around them...some were talking to their phones...others were listening to music...others were laughing with their friends...People were lonely...I guess I was...Turns out Kim and Jerry didn't come like they said they would...they decided to go to California and start there...school, their lives...
And I stayed here...New York...Of course I made new friends but it wasn't the same...I laughed with other girls but they weren't Kim...I teased another nerd but he wasn't Milton...I dated other guys but they weren't him...I've been kissed by other guys but it didn't feel the same...Him...Just thinking about him hurts me...just saying his name hurts me...Jack...
I keep wondering if he remembers me too? I mean I know he remembers me as a person but...does he remember what we've been through? How much he helped me? How much he meant to me? Or all that nights? Has he forgotten?
Everybody seems to forget...
"Elliot" I heard a familiar voice say from my right and I turned my head to meet the smiley face of Aiden.
"Hi" I said silently since the cold was hardly bareable.
"Haven't seen you in a while" he said still smiling.
"I know...couldn't find the time...sorry" I said back; smiling weakly at him. Aiden was that guy that was constantly smiling and making everybody happy. We went to university together. He just didn't seem like the guy to struggle...mentally...
"Hey...after this I'm going to meet with some friends...come" he said as he opened the door as we arrived to our destination. A huge building that was used for dancing during the day was now a place where people like me and Aiden came and talked about our problems...or our progress...
"I don't know" I mumbled. I took off my jacket and sighed when I felt the heat hitting my skin.
"Please? You never come out" He said with his blue eyes begging me.
"I'll think about it" I said giving in but not really admiting it.
"Elliottttt" he whined like a five year old.
"Fine" I said throwing my hands up in surrender. " You won. I'll come"
"Good. Ryan is going to be there" He said and ran to the rest of the people in our group.
"I'm gonna kill you" I said angrily and he just stuck his tongue out.
"You can't take it back now" he said in a matter of fact tone.
"Fuck you" I mumbled and he smiled again.
"Thank you" he said back smiling sweetly at me.
"Everybody sit down please" Dr white said as she entered the room. We took our seats that were placed in a circle.
"I see familiar faces and people I haven't seen in a while" she said looking to every single on in here and her eyes finally stopped at me.
"Elliot...was it 4 months?"
"Yes" I said nodding.
"So...would you like to be first?" she asked smiling as she took a hold of her pencil to start writing down some notes.
"Okay..." I said and looked around me. Aiden gave a reassuring smile which I return and then I started.
"My name is Elliot Miller" I said.
"Hello Elliot" the people said, some I recognized some I didn't.
"I am 20 years old and I'm from England. I haven't cut for the past 2 years, 11 months and 27 days and I have to say it was and still is really hard...but it is worth it"
