(Continued from Last Chapter)
"You're right to say that this battle has only begun, Ash!" agreed Wulfric. "I've only just gotten started! Here comes my second Pokemon! Aurorus, on the battlefield!" Wulfric's second Pokemon was a massive stegosaurus-like Pokemon covered in ice-blue diamonds. Aurorus gave off of a shrieking cry, before letting loose an arctic blast of cold air from its body.
"Ugh...that's cold…" complained a shivering Ash. "Pikachu, come on back for now!" PIkachu ran off of the slippery battlefield, and back onto his usual spot on Ash's shoulder. "You take a break while keep battling. Now...for my second Pokemon! Tyrantrum, I choose you!" Choosing to initiate a battle between Ancient Kalos Pokemon, Ash's Tyrantrum appeared from his Pokeball, and roared loudly, chomping down on the cold air.
"Why would Ash choose Tyrantrum?" wondered Xerneas.
"Tyrantrum is a Dragon-type, which are weak against Ice-types!" said Serena.
"Don't forget, Tyrantrum is also a Rock-type Pokemon which are strong against Ice-types." reminded Clemont. "Ash is taking a gamble on Tyrantrum's strength."
"Tyrantrum, you ready?" asked Ash.
"Always." replied Tyrantrum, baring his fangs.
"A talking Tyrantrum...how unique." noted Wulfric, like this was a regular occurence for him to face a talking Pokemon.
"That's all you have to say grampa?" snorted Tyrantrum. "Ash, let's make this geizer pay for shrugging me off!"
"You bet! Use Crunch!" agreed Ash. Tyrantrum's fangs glowed a sinister shade of black as he tromped towards Aurorus.
"Use Blizzard to stop it!" countered Wulfric. Aurorus's mouth opened as a flurry of snow shot from a small blue orb. Blizzard caused ice pillars to spring up in Tyrantrum's path, forcing him to weave around them to avoid smashing into them.
"Tyrantrum be careful!" warned Ash.
"I know!" called Tyrantrum, dodging another ice pillar, and chomping down on Aurorus's body. Aurorus hollered in protest, and shook off Tyrantrum, but not before Crunch lowered its Physical Defense.
"Nice one! Let's use Fire Fang!" continued Ash. Tyrantrum once again charged at Aurorus, his teeth aflame in blazing rage.
"Dragon Tail go!" said Wulfric. Aurorus spun around and blocked Fire Fang with its glowing tail. Tyrantrum struggled to overcome the power of the tail.
"That's one powerful tail!" noted Limone.
"Ash is going to have to break through that to beat Aurorus." added Volcanion.
"Come on Tyrantrum! With your strength, that tail can't beat you!" encouraged Ash, lifting a fist.
"No tail is gonna stop me!" outraged Tyrantrum, flinging Aurorus's tail aside, and chomping down on Aurorus's body with Fire Fang, doing lots of damage.
"That's the way!" cheered Bonnie.
"Let's keep up the pressure by using Dragon Claw!" continued Ash. Tyrantrum's razor-sharp claws glowed draconic green as he slashed Aurorus, leaving shimmering green trails of energized light in his wake. "Direct hit!"
"Aurorus, use Reflect!" said Wulfric. Aurorus glowed pink as a shimmering wall appeared in front of it.
"Reflect will weaken the amount of damage Aurorus and the rest of Wulfric's team will take from Physical attacks until it wears off. He must have done that due to Tyrantrum's incredible strength." noted Alain.
"Reflect can't stop this power move!" shouted Ash. "Use Head Smash!" Tyrantrum lifted his head as a brown aura appeared around his cranium. The aura gave off waves
so powerful that Aurorus was buffeted back slightly. Tyrantrum then tucked his head down, and charged at Aurorus at full speed.
"Stop it with Blizzard!" shouted Wulfric. Aurorus gave off its shrieking cry as it launched the freezing wind attack. Tyrantrum, though affected by the super-effective move, powered through Blizzard, and smashed his head into Aurorus's body, sending the Sail Pokemon into the sky head-over-heels. Aurorus smashed into on the ice pillars it had created earlier, leaving a large impact impression. Aurorus's head slumped against the ground.
"Aurorus is unable to battle, Tyrantrum is the winner!" shouted the referee.
"Yeah! We did it Tyrantrum!" cheered Ash.
"That was pathetically easy." snorted Tyrantrum, tossing his large head back.
"Aurorus return." said Wulfric, returning his felled Pokemon. "Ha ha! Looks like you are no pushover Ash! But it doesn't get anymore difficult than winning that badge from MY gym!"
"Bring it on!" challenged Ash.
"Now Cryogonal, come on out!" shouted Wulfric. Wulfric's snowflake-like Pokemon appeared out of his third Pokeball, rotating slowly.
"So Cryogonal is number three…" mumbled Ash. "Cryogonal are known to be pretty fast...I'd better be careful...Tyrantrum, let's end this in one attack! Use Fire Fang!" Tyrantrum charged at the floating Pokemon with flaming teeth and sinister intentions.
"Flash Cannon, go!" said Wulfric. Cryogonal's body glowed silver as it took in gray light from the around it. A silver blast was fired from Cryogonal's body, scoring a direct hit against Tyrantrum's stomach.
"Tyrantrum, no!" protested Ash, watching his Dragon-type being blasted into a wall by the super-effective attack.
"That couldn't have felt good…" cringed Mairin.
"You can say that again." agreed Serena.
"Flash Cannon is a Steel-type move, and coming in contact with a Rock-type like Tyrantrum is not good at all." explained Clemont.
"Tyrantrum, are you okay?!" worried Ash.
"D-Don't worry...my friend…" panted Tyrantrum. "I can still keep on going. Let's get back in this battle…"
"Cryogonal, Aurora Beam!" finished Wulfric. A rainbow-colored beam of light shot of out Cryogonal's center, and smashed into the gut of Tyrantrum, flinging the tyrannosaurus rex to the ground incredibly hard. Tyrantrum, struggles to get back up, but this time, he fell back down, and did not stir.
"Tyrantrum is unable to battle, Cryogonal is the winner!" shouted the referee.
"Oh no." worried Bonnie.
"Now Ash is down to four Pokemon." continued Serena.
"That Cryogonal's power and speed...if Ash can't get a grip on that potent combination, he's gonna lose." strategized Clemont.
"Tyrantrum, return!" said Ash, recalling his felled Pokemon. "Don't worry my friend, your efforts won't go to waste. Time for my third Pokemon! Charizard, I choose you!" Ash's long-time friend, and one of his first Pokemon came out with a noble roar, shaking loose ice on the field.
"A Fire-type huh?" questioned Wulfric. "A bit more predictable this time. Cryogonal, use Acid Armor." Cryogonal suddenly disappeared from sight, as it turned completely invisible.
"Wait...what just happened?" wondered Ash, peering around. "Where did Cryogonal go?"
"What's Acid Armor?" asked Mairin.
"It allows your opponent to disappear into water." explained Alain. "But apparently Wulfric trained Cryogonal to be able to disappear in the air when using Acid Armor."
"Can't see it…" gritted Ash. "Use Air Slash in all directions!" Charizard's wings turned a brilliant white as a massive energy wave shot out in all directions, sweeping through the air. To Ash's chagrin, nothing was hit by Air Slash.
"That won't work against us!" prided Wulfric. "Flash Cannon!" The silver Steel-type move shot out of nowhere, and smashed into Charizard's left wing, throwing the Flame Pokemon forward a few feet.
"Let's try this…" muttered Ash. "Use Solar Beam!" A harsh yellow light gathered into an orb at the base of Charizard's mouth. Instead of launching a beam out of it, Charizard launched the sun ball at the middle of the field. The Solar Beam ball exploded into a massive flash of sunshine-yellow light, illuminating everything around it. Cryogonal's shadow was suddenly seen by an ice pillar. "Over there! Use Flamethrower!" Charizard's fire-breath scorched the shadow, knocking Cryogonal out of Acid Armor, and singing the Crystallizing Pokemon's icy skin.
"Aurora Beam now!" ordered Wulfric.
"Dragon Pulse before it can attack!" shouted Ash. Just as Cryogonal began charging up Aurora Beam, Charizard's Dragon Pulse scored a direct hit, flinging the Ice-type into the field's steel wall, knocking the poor Pokemon out.
"Cryogonal is unable to battle, Charizard is the winner!" called the judge.
"That was a quick turn-around!" praised Mairin.
"The efficiency and timing of that Solar Beam led to a momentum shift that let Ash take control." explained Yveltal, nodding approvingly.
"Now Wulfric only has two Pokemon left! Ash still has four! If Ash keeps this up, that badge is as good as his!" cheered Bonnie.
"Cryogonal, return my friend." sadly said Wulfric, returning his Pokemon. "You put a good fight. Thanks for taking out Tyrantrum. Now for my fourth Pokemon! Avalugg, let's go!" Wulfric's fourth Pokeball revealed a massive flat-back Pokemon that simply stared silently at Charizard.
"Who's that Pokemon?" wondered Ash, pulling his PokeDex out again.
"Avalugg, the Iceberg Pokemon. Avalugg's ice-covered body is as hard as steel. Its cumbersome frame crushes anything that stands in its way. When Bergmite gather on it's back, it looks like an aircraft carrier made of ice." chirped the PokeDex.
"It sounds strong." said Clemont.
"That's an understatement." agreed Alvis. "It has a particular move that could give Ash quite a bit of trouble if he can't stop Avalugg."
"Charizard, Flamethrower!" ordered Ash. Charizard spat the fiery torrent at Avalugg.
"Mirror Coat now!" said Wulfric softly. Avalugg's body suddenly glowed rainbow colors as Flamethrower bounced right off of it, and back at Charizard, who was so stunned that he didn't even try to dodge. Charizard was blasted from his spot with so much force, shockwaves could be felt all over the stadium.
"Ah! Charizard, no!" shouted Ash, watching Charizard being hit.
"That's a problem." worried Clemont.
"No kidding." said Xerneas. "Using Mirror Coat reflects Special Attacks back at the opponent with double the strength! Poor Charizard just took quite a bit of damage."
"Come on!" shouted Ash. "Air Slash, now!" Charizard shook off his discomfort, and launched the air wave at Avalugg, who took the hit no problem.
"Ha!" laughed Wulfric. "That won't do at all! Use Avalanche!" Avalugg roared as a massive sheet of snow and icy rocks crashed down onto Charizard from thin air, burying the Flame Pokemon under several feet of bitter cold.
"Charizard!" shouted Ash.
"What kind of move was that?" asked Serena.
"Avalanche." stated Alvis. "If your opponent attacks you, and you use Avalanche right after, the power of Avalanche is doubled."
"So because Charizard used Air Slash...Avalanche's power was doubled!" realized Clemont.
"Correct." said Alvis. "Avalugg are very slow Pokemon, so Avalanche is the perfect move for them to counter-strike."
"Charizard, can you hear me?" called Ash. Charizard lifted his head out of the snowslide, and roared defiantly. "Great! Let's use Solar Beam!"
"Gyro Ball now!" interrupted Wulfric. Avalugg tucked it's head into its body, and began spinning around like a top, surrounded by a brilliant silver outline. Before Charizard has finished charging up Solar Beam, Avalugg smashed into him, blasting him into a wall with the speed of a rocket. Charizard's head hit the steel, and slumped forward against his body.
"Charizard is unable to battle, so Avalugg is the winner!" cried the judge.
"Oh no…" whimpered Bonnie.
"Now Ash only has three left." counted Latias.
"This battle just got a lot more difficult." noted Latios.
"Not only that, the remnants of that Avalanche are still on the battlefield. It's gonna be hard to move around on the field now." added Clemont.
"Charizard, return!" said Ash. "Thanks for all the hard work. We won't lose this one! Lucario, you're up next!" Ash's Fighting-type appeared on the field with an intimidating howl to the sky. Avalugg remained unflinching, however.
"Fighting-types have the advantage over Ice-types!" said Mairin.
"And with Lucario also being part Steel-type, it's an even better matchup against an Ice-type!" said Zygarde patiently. "Smart move by Ash."
"Lucario, start out with Extreme Speed!" said Ash. As Lucario began running along the field at breakneck speed, his foot got caught on something unseen. "What the-?"
"Avalugg, use Stone Edge!" called Wulfric. Taking advantage of Lucario's immobilization, Avalugg barraged Lucario with a series of pointed stones, tossing the Aura Pokemon back.
"Speed attacks only work against us on this field!" gritted Ash. "On top of that, we can't even move around freely due to Avalanche! Lucario, Aura Sphere!" Lucario tossed a cyan ball of pure aura at Avalugg.
"Mirror Coat!" shouted Wulfric. Once again, Avalugg's body glowed with the colors of a rainbow as the Aura Sphere simply bounced right back at Lucario, who had to duck to avoid taking a super-effective hit at double the power.
"If Special Attacks won't work because of Mirror Coat, and we can't even get close for a Physical Attack, what can I do?" muttered Ash, looking at the battlefield. "Can't even get close...that's it! Lucario, use Psychic on the snow and icy rocks from the Avalanche!" Lucario nodded as his eyes glowed psychokinetic blue. Telepathically, he lifted the snow and rocks off the icy field and it into the air. "That's it! Now send them at Avalugg!" Lucario willed the torrent of debris to fly at Avalugg, which it so did.
"Use Mirror Coat!" shouted Wulfric. Avalugg's body turned rainbow-colors again to reflect the attack back, but was surprised when Mirror Coat failed to stop it at all! The snow and rocks pummeled Avalugg's massive body, continuously chipping away at it's endurance.
"That was amazing!" approved Serena.
"Ash used Psychic to lift the Physical Avalanche back at Avalugg! Wulfric must've thought that since the Avalanche was being controlled by Psychic, he could send it back, but he thought wrong!" theorized Clemont.
"It was a very ingenious strategy." approved Alvis.
"Use Blaze Kick and don't stop!" shouted Ash. Lucario jumped on top of Avalugg, and began repeatedly stomping on Avalugg's flat back with Blaze Kick, doing lots of damage.
"You know that Reflect is still active, don't you?" questioned Wulfric. "You may think you're doing damage, but to Avalugg, it's like being hit by a tiny pebble!"
"Don't forget that even a pebble can become a bullet if it moves fast enough!" countered Ash. "Lucario, use Extreme Speed to speed up your Blaze Kicking!" Following Ash's guidance, Lucario began moving at triple speed, this time doing significant damage as Avalugg began to struggle to stay standing.
"Avalugg, shake it off with Gyro Ball!" said Wulfric. Avalugg began spinning rapidly, shaking off Lucario, who landed on the slippery ground with a big THUD! Lucario got back up with a vengeful howl, however.
"That's the way!" cheered Ash. "But we're not out of the woods yet! Avalugg is still not going down...going down...of course! Why didn't I think of that sooner! Lucario, get close to Avalugg!" Lucario took off like a speeding train towards his opponent.
"What's Ash thinking?" asked Limone. "I can't figure out what he's trying to do."
"Avalugg, Stone Edge now!" called Wulfric.
"Use Blaze Kick on it's leg before it can attack!" interrupted Ash. Just as the pointed stones formed in twin spirals around Avalugg, Lucario kicked its stubby leg with a flaming foot, sweeping the Iceberg Pokemon off of its feet, and onto the ground, where it struggled to regain its footing.
"What's this!" shouted Wulfric.
"Easy! I figured that Avalugg's strength and balance comes from it's legs!" explained Ash. "So I thought that if I could take down one of Avalugg's legs, Avalugg would come down with it! Lucario, wrap it up with Aura Sphere!" Lucario jumped up into the air, and tossed the aura ball straight at Avalugg's head, which exploded on contact. The attack sent Avalugg spinning out of control, and stopped right next to Wulfric, unable to battle.
"Avalugg is unable to battle, so Lucario is the winner!" called the referee.
"Yeah, we did it Lucario! You took down Avalugg!" cheered Ash, high-fiving his friend.
"That was so cool!" exclaimed Bonnie, bouncing up and down.
"Ash's clever thinking and inventiveness got him that fourth win." added Alvis.
"Now Wulfric is down to his last Pokemon, while Ash still has three! Things are looking bright for Ash!" completed Mairin.
"Avalugg my friend, return." stated Wulfric somberly. "Good battling today, so take a long rest. Ash! I'm extremely impressed with how you took down Avalugg! It doesn't get any harder at my gym that dealing with his stamina. But, you've yet to see the true horror of the Ice-types at the Snowbelle Gym! Abomasnow, come on out!" Wulfric's final Pokeball revealed the Frost Tree Pokemon Abomasnow, who grunted at Ash deeply. Out of the corner of Alvis's eye, up in the stands, he noticed something glint on Abomasnow's head. Alvis smiled, and stared thoughtfully at Ash, waiting for how he would face this final challenge.
"Just one more win, and this battle is mine! Ready to go Lucario?" asked Ash. Lucario nodded confidently. "Then use Blaze Kick!" Lucario got his flaming foot ready to kick Abomasnow and finish the battle up right there.
"Wood Hammer go." said Wulfric softly. Green light suddenly flashed above Abomasnow as a hammer made of thick wood appeared in his hand from the light. Abomasnow lifted the hammer above his head, and brought it down on Lucario's head, smashing the Aura Pokemon two feet deep into the icy battlefield. As Abomasnow lifted the hammer, everyone could see a flattened Lucario, clearly unconscious
"Lucario is unable to battle, Abomasnow is the winner!" roared the judge.
"No way…" breathed Latias.
"Wood Hammer is a Grass-type move, so it shouldn't be very effective against Steel-types like Lucario!" protested Serena.
"But what's to stop Wulfric from training his Pokemon to overcome type disadvantages against Fighting and Steel-types?" asked Clemont.
"That Abomasnow will be tough to take down." muttered Alain.
"Lucario, return!" said Ash, depressed. "Take a good rest. We're not out yet! Sceptile, you're number five! I choose you!" Ash's fifth Pokeball revealed his Forest Pokemon, who slashed the air twice with his wrist-blades, the Sceptite on his left leaf blade gleaming.
"Sceptile?" questioned Mairin.
"Sceptile is a Grass-type, so he's at a disadvantage against Ice-types!" complained Bonnie.
"Ah, a Mega Stone. So you must be a Mega Evolution Successor then?" inquired Wulfric.
"You bet! And I'll show you my power as a Mega Evolution Successor! Key Stone, respond to my heart and hear my call!" shouted Ash, tapping the Key Stone on his Mega Ring. The Key Stone lit up like a Christmas tree, as did the Sceptite on Sceptile. "Sceptile, MEGA EVOLVE!" Sceptile was surrounded by the light of Mega Evolution as his Mega Stone disappeared into thin air. The light faded, revealing the form of Mega Sceptile, who glared at Abomasnow angrily.
"Impressive…" awed Wulfric. "I can tell that the strength of your bond is incredible. But...so is the bond I share with Abomasnow!" With that, he revealed a small locket around his neck by pushing aside a part of his coat. A Key Stone gleamed in the light.
"Is that?" gasped Ash.
"The locket you see before not only contains my Key Stone, but a picture of my dearest partner Pokemon from when I was a small boy!" reminisced Wulfric. "It's the power of that memory that allows me to strengthen the bond between my Pokemon and I! Mega Locket, release your power!" The Key Stone glowed harshly as it connected with the now revealed Abomasite of Abomasnow. The Abomasite engulfed Abomasnow in the brilliant light of Mega Evolution as Mega Abomasnow gave an unearthly roar. Suddenly, a hailstorm brewed out of nowhere, engulfing the field in falling snow.
"That's Snow Warning, Mega Abomasnow S-special a-ability!" shivered Clemont through clenched teeth.
"It's freezing!" shouted Yveltal.
"So this will be a battle of Mega Evolutions…" said Alvis. "Intriguing…
"Challengers willing to enter the Kalos League must be prepared to deal with any situations presented before them: whether it be a harsh climate, or a surprise tactic in the heat of battle." explained Wulfric. "That is why I'M the last Gym Leader! I'll test your ability to respond to my most powerful tactic!"
"Mega Sceptile, Drain Punch, now!" shouted Ash over the snowstorm. Mega Sceptile charged at Mega Abomasnow while lifting his fist, which became surrounded by a spiraling green aura.
"Mega Abomasnow, counter it with Rock Smash!" said Wulfric. Mega Abomasnow lifted his fist, which had turned rust orange, and punched Drain Punch. The two Fighting-type attacks fought for dominance over the other, when the finally cancelled each other out.
"Mega Sceptile, use Dragon Pulse!" shouted Ash. Three beams: one red, one blue, and one violet shot from Mega Sceptile's palms and mouth. The three beams joined together to form a glowing dragon of pure energy, which chomped its celestial fangs down onto Mega Abomasnow, who roared in pain.
"Shake off the pain and use Blizzard!" shouted Wulfric. Mega Abomasnow shook aside his discomfort, and blew out a massive stream of cold air and snow.
"Dodge it Mega Sceptile!" cried Ash. Just as Mega Sceptile leapt out of the way of Blizzard, the attack cycled around and blasted into Mega Sceptile's back. "It changed direction?!"
"That's an additional effect of Snow Warning." shivered Limone. "It makes it so Blizzard can not miss, no matter how much you try to dodge it. On top of that, when Sceptile Mega Evolved into Mega Sceptile, it became part Dragon-type. A Grass and Dragon-type Pokemon is super weak against Ice-types like Blizzard, so that must've hurt!" True to Limone's statement, Mega Sceptile panted for several moments, before shooting back to his feet.
"That's the way!" encouraged Ash. "Use Leaf Storm!" Mega Sceptile roared as a cyclone of leaves formed around his body, which all shot in a spiraling whirlwind at Mega Abomasnow, battering the Frost Tree Pokemon back continuously.
"Fight back with Blizzard!" countered Wulfric. Mega Abomasnow opened one eye in frustration, and blew the Leaf Storm away with the icy attack.
"Use Drain Punch!" shouted Ash. Once again, Mega Sceptile charged with his health-sucking fist.
"Bulldoze, let's go!" said Wulfric. Mega Abomasnow pounded a leg on the ground, which sent the ice on the battlefield flying up in all directions, not only stopping Mega Sceptile's attack cold, but creating several new levels of ice, some higher than others. "Ah...our ice mountain is finally here! Mega Abomasnow, smash the ice at Mega Sceptile with Wood Hammer." Following Wulfric's guidance, Mega Abomasnow home-runned chunks of flying ice at Mega Sceptile with his gigantic wooden mallet.
"Slice them with Leaf Blade!" countered Ash. The four leaf knives on Mega Sceptile's wrists glowed green and extended to three times their normal length, and began cutting down the ice, dividing them into halves with perfect slashes. "Drain Punch!" This time, the health-draining attack made contact with one of the ice pillars on Mega Abomasnow's back, causing green sparks to fly out Mega Abomasnow's body and into Mega Sceptile, restoring stamina. Mega Abomasnow collapsed to a knee in exhaustion.
"Yeah! Finish them off Ash and win this battle!" screamed Bonnie exuberantly.
"Let's do just that with Leaf Blade, Mega Sceptile!" agreed Ash, lifting a fist. Mega Sceptile jumped above Mega Abomasnow with his glowing wrist blades and prepared to slash Mega Abomasnow from the top to bottom.
"Stop it with Blizzard and maximum power!" shouted Wulfric frantically. At the last second, Mega Abomasnow unleashed a massive Blizzard from his entire body, pulverizing Mega Sceptile with continuous blasts of ice and snow. After a few seconds, Mega Sceptile felt himself being pushed backwards, until he was blasted into one of the steel walls near Ash. Mega Sceptile hit the wall so hard, that he fell straight down, and landed on an ice pillar, instantly de-Mega Evolving, unconscious.
"Mega Sceptile is unable to battle, Mega Abomasnow is the winner!" shouted the judge.
"Oh no…" whimpered Mairin.
"And Ash was so close to finishing the battle with that Leaf Blade." muttered Clemont.
"And now Ash is down to just Pikachu, who is at a disadvantage against a Mega Evolved Grass-type like Abomasnow." cringed Serena.
"Do not fear." said Alvis calmly. "From here, everything will proceed as dictated by the passage of fate."
"Passage...of fate?" questioned Limone, lifting an eyebrow. "Exactly what does that mean?" Alvis simply smiled.
"Just watch." said Alvis.
"Mega Sceptile, return." said Ash sadly, returning his fallen friend from Hoenn. "You battled unbelievably well. Now let Pikachu and I finish this battle up." With that, he pocketed his Pokeball, and turned to Pikachu. "It's all up to you buddy. Our hopes of an eighth gym badge rests on your hands. Ready to go?" Pikachu nodded in anticipation, and ran out onto the field.
"Well, like it or not, this is our final battle." admitted Wulfric. "You're different from most challengers Ash. Your determination and resolve to win is unlike anything I've ever seen before. I like that. But you still won't beat Mega Abomasnow! Use Blizzard!" Mega Abomasnow exhaled a blast of wintry displeasure from his mouth.
"Block it with Thunderbolt!" shouted Ash. Pikachu let loose a violent discharge of electricity, meeting Blizzard midfield, cancelling the attack out. "Use Iron Tail!" Pikachu ran at Mega Abomasnow with his tail glowing steel-white.
"Wood Hammer, now!" said Wulfric. As the massive wooden beater emerged from the green light above Mega Abomasnow's head, Pikachu smashed Iron Tail into Mega Abomasnow's gut, doing lots of damage.
"Swing back and use Quick Attack!" said Ash. Pikachu did a one-hundred eighty degree turn, and pounced into Mega Abomasnow's head with a lightning fast Quick Attack.
"Use Bulldoze!" said Wulfric.
"Jump up to dodge!" said Ash quickly. Just as the shock waves tore through the ground due to Bulldoze, Pikachu lept into the air to avoid the attack. "Yeah! Time to wrap this up with a little creativity! Use a combination attack by using Iron Tail and Volt Tackle at the same time, while using Quick Attack to speed it up!" Pikachu nodded, and charged at Mega Abomasnow. First, he hardened his tail for Iron Tail, and then he encased himself in the violent electric aura of Volt Tackle, and then poured on the speed for the Quick Attack part.
"Stop it with Blizzard!" shouted Wulfric.
"Dodge it!" shouted Ash. Pikachu spun into the air and avoided the Ice-type attack, and then smashed into Mega Abomasnow tail first, landing all three attacks at once. The resulting collision was so massive that a gigantic explosion tore through the entire field, sending multiple shock waves of energy throughout the entire gym, threatening to knock everyone off of their feet. Ash struggled to keep his eyes open to check on any signs of Pikachu and Mega Abomasnow. Finally, after several minutes of silence, the smoke cleared, revealing Pikachu standing on the defeated form of Mega Abomasnow, who instantly de-Mega Evolved. It was done.
"Mega Abomasnow is unable to battle, and Pikachu is the winner! Therefore, the match goes to the challenger, Ash of Pallet Town!" roared the judge in conclusiveness.
"We won, Pikachu!" shouted Ash in jubilee. "You really did it! You defeated a Mega Evolved Pokemon! You're just amazing!" Pikachu sweatdropped due to the amount of appreciation he was receiving from his trainer.
"That was amazing!" cheered Serena.
"Happy, happy Bonnie!" repeated Bonnie over and over again.
"That was truly a spectacular battle." raved Limone.
"For sure." agreed Mairin.
"And that's number eight for Ash!" realized Alain.
"Next stop, the Kalos League!" cheered Xerneas.
"Such is the passage of fate." concluded Alvis, smiling a bit.
(Outside)
"Well Ash, in recognition of conquering my Gym and overcoming my top-notch Pokemon, I present you with this: the Iceberg Badge!" said Wulfric, giving Ash the snowflake-shaped badge. "Take it and enjoy."
"Wow…" breathed Ash. "Thank you so much Wulfric! Alright! I just got...the Iceberg Badge!" Ash gave his usual victory pose, with Pikachu, Charizard, Sceptile, Tyrantrum, and Lucario all jumping up with him. Ash placed his Iceberg Badge in his badge case, and stared at all eight of his gym badges together. "The Bug Badge." A scene played in Ash's mind showing Pikachu defeating Viola's Vivillon. "The Cliff Badge." The next one showed Pikachu beating Grant's Tyrunt. "The Rumble Badge." The following one showed Pikachu winning a stare-down with Korrina's Mega Lucario. "The Plant Badge." The fourth scene was Ash's Fletchinder beating Ramos's Gogoat. "The Voltage Badge." The fifth scene showed Pikachu beating Clemont's Heliolisk. "The Fairy Badge." The sixth scene was Ash's Gogoat beating Valerie's Sylveon. "The Psychic Badge." The seventh scene was Hawlucha taking down Olympia's Meowstic. "And now the Iceberg Badge." The last scene showed the triple-combination finishing move of Pikachu against Mega Abomasnow. "All eight badges from Kalos...all mine!"
"Now you can enter the Kiloude City Kalos League!" said Serena.
"That's great Ash!" cheered Clemont.
"Well Ash, listen to what this loser's gotta say." said Wulfric. "I hope you've learned a valuable lesson today. Being rigid can make you tough, but it will also render you fragile. You're better off being flexible. You know what I mean? Some people are fluid like water and can adapt to their environment without changing what's important on the inside. Not me, though. I guess I'm too stubborn. Maybe that's why I love Ice types. Now then, trust in your Pokemon, and surpass all your limits at the Kalos League!"
"Thank you very much, sir." said Ash, bowing in gratitude.
"Don't forget, you'll be dealing with me there too!" reminded Mairin.
"Same with me!" added Alain.
"Dallas and Christy too!" said Serena.
"And myself as well." finished Alvis. "And I have no plans on losing in the tournament."
"Neither do I!" said Ash confidently. "You're all going down! Kiloude City, here we come!"
