Standing at the gates, Karin stood with the rest of the Rookies, watching as Naruto gave some final words to Sasuke. Once he was finished, Sasuke looked to Sarada who stood with Kizashi and Mebuki, those of which were holding Natsu and Itaru.
He pulled Sarada into his leg, a small but meaning full embrace and placed a hand upon her head.
"I'll be home soon, Sarada," he promised. "Along with your kaa-san."
Sarada nodded, her Sharingan spinning slowly.
Sasuke turned to Mebuki and Kizashi, bowing his head respectfully, placing a kiss upon both boys head. As he turned away, Kizashi firmly grasped his arm, causing the Uchiha patriarch to turn back. Kizashi, wrinkled with age, stared at him. What once was calming ocean blue was ice cold cobalt. This wasn't his father-in-law, this was a father who lost his child.
"Bring her home, Sasuke," he spoke.
His words were rough and hidden beneath was desperation.
"Bring her home to us, my son, to her family."
Mebuki, the normally hard-headed one of the couple, could only nod and when she tried to speak, her voice cracked with emotion so she settled with hushing the grandson in her arms.
Sasuke nodded. "I swear to you, I'll bring her back."
With one final goodbye, they were off.
A man slowly crept into the cage that now held the famed Uchiha matriarch.
They were constantly moving, knowing that Karin would lead reinforcements straight for their last known location.
Sakura's new cell was four walls of steel bars, a lone steel chair resting in the middle under a single light bulb that swung dauntingly. In the chair sat the restrained pinkette, feet chained to the floor and arms locked around her, like she was in a straight jacket.
He was to keep an eye on the woman, though he had no idea why. She hadn't spoken much, not since she first lost her memory.
As long as they kept moving, they could stay ahead of the Uchiha's grasp. Mizuro banged on the cage with his metal pipe, the clanging of clashing metal resounding loudly within the holding. Despite its suddenty, Sakura's only reaction was the slight tilt of her head towards said sound.
"I heard you were the strongest woman Konoha had to offer back in your day," he began. "But look at you now. You're nothing without your village."
From behind the pink veil of hair that covered her face, a sinister smile pulled at her cracked lips.
Their group was large and likely to be not very inconspicuous, but despite their numbers, their movements were but small changes in the wind.
Suddenly, instead of heading in the right direction, Karin veered right.
"What the hell are you doing?" Kiba barked.
"Guys, we're being followed!" Ino called.
"Karin," Sasuke snapped.
"I sense Kuromaru moving," the red-head replied. "Judging by his location and his direction of travel, he's heading towards Noodles Country. His biggest base is set up there, as well as the perfect place for an ambush. Most of his followers are gathered there."
Sasuke said nothing but the fact that he didn't object spoke volumes.
"How many are following us?" Shikamaru asked.
"I'm picking up around thirty-two."
"Fifty-eight," Karin corrected. "There is also forty-six about twenty miles up, waiting to ambush us."
"What do we do?" Choji asked.
"We can take 'em," Kiba offered.
Shikamaru turned to look back at the Inuzuka and noticed as Hinata and Shino came to his side, nodding their agreement. He nodded back to them.
"Take care," Ino ordered. "No heroics."
She looked pointedly at Kiba who grinned wolfishly back at the Yamanaka.
"Don't worry so much, Ino," he teased.
Hinata allowed a smile to come to her lips as the slightest upturn pulled at Shino's.
"I'll keep a close eye on him, Ino-chan," Hinata assured the blonde.
Ino winked at the Uzumaki matriarch and with some final glances, the old Team Kurenai pulled back and within a blink of an eye, disappeared.
Sai placed a reassuring hand on his wife's shoulder.
"They will be alright," he told her.
Ino sighed and looked forward, the hesitation disappearing at the realisation that their lives were on the line and that every step they took brought them closer to Sakura.
'Just a little longer, Forehead. Hold on just a little bit longer.'
"Byakugan!"
Hinata didn't move as she scanned the area.
"What do you see, Hinata?" Kiba asked as he took a quick whiff of the surrounding area.
"Karin was right. Fifty-eight shinobi are headed our way."
"My beetles are in place," Shino stated.
"They have a tracker," Hinata informed. "They're boxing us in, keeping us from the others."
"Keh. They think they can hold us back?" Kiba howled.
"Calm down," Shino berated. "These are serious odds we are looking at. One wrong move could cost us."
Kiba turned towards his aged companion.
"Ready, Akamaru?"
His ever faithful canine gave a bark of approval.
Standing back to backs, the three faced the surrounding trees, waiting. When a shower of shuriken rained down on them, ninja lept from the trees with their weapons drawn, signalling the start of their battle.
An explosion and flaring chakra drew the attention of the remaining rescue time.
"I have a bad feeling," Ino murmured. "Some of us should go back to help them."
"No time," Karin called. "Incoming fifty-three further up on the left. Not to mention the forty-six coming up soon."
"They're trying to cut down our numbers," Shikamaru stated. "Judging by their tactics up until now as well as Kuromaru's movement, there will be another wave of shinobi coming the right, from the Noodle Country."
"We'll take on this wave of men coming," Tenten offered, gesturing to herself and Lee. "That way, you guys can take on the wave from the right."
"And that will leave Kuromaru's base wide open for us," Sasuke confirmed, nodding.
"But you two can take them on alone!" Ino objected.
"Have a little faith, Ino," Tenten teased and yet the blonde would not bite.
She moved so she was now running beside Ino and held her hand, giving it a small squeeze.
"We all knew what we were getting ourselves into, Ino," Tenten spoke. "We are all willing to lay down our lives to save Sakura. We'd do the same for any one of us and you can bet Sakura would do the same."
"Be careful, Tenten," Ino urged.
Tenten smiled and ruffled her hair. "Don't worry about me, blondie. Just worry about getting Sakura-chan home, okay?"
Ino nodded and looked to Lee who gave her a thumbs up and his trademark gleaming smile. Then like the team before them, they were gone.
"You alright?" Shikamaru asked.
"I'm fine," she spoke.
Her team was next but damn if they didn't get Sakura back after all this. And if they just so happen to take a bite out of Kuromaru's small army...
...well that would just be a bonus.
Holy Fucking Shit
My viewers/fans.
I am SO SORRY it took me so fucking long to update.
I legit had no idea what I was supposed to do from here, then my laptop killed itself again and then I managed to steal one of a mate so I'm using his.
It had been a long...LOOOOOOOOOONGGGGG time.
This isn't much because I'm dreading the fights to come.
As you all know, I HATE FIGHT SCENES WITH A CAPITAL PA5510N
So don't expect much from the fight scenes.
But, I come with a great rant.
IS ANYONE FUCKING READING NARUTO GAIDEN AT THE MOMENT?
If you haven't read it, this will contain spoilers.
STOP READING NOW IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS BUT YOU COULD JUST MINIMIZE THIS WINDOW OR OPEN A NEW TAB AND READ IT.
It's called Seventh Hokage and Scarlett Spring, I think.

SARADA'S PARENTAGE IS CURRENTLY UP IN THE AIR!?
Sakura might not be her fucking mother?
Well, that's at least the conclusion Sarada is trying to draw when she finds a picture of Sasuke with Karin (a.k.a a picture of when Sasuke was still in Akatsuki with Suigetsu and Jugo standing to the left and Karin to the right. Fucking REALLY?)
I TAKE BACK ALL I SAID ABOUT SARADA BEING SMART
Sarada, you honestly think that because Karin has glasses and you have glasses that that means she is YOUR FUCKING MOM!?

Only he's blonde and has the Sharingan. Plus his head looks ridiculous and he looks like a little boy. I just wanna cut his head off :D
Sakura has also fainted and has apparently fainted a lot as Sarada grew up which might be a cause for alarm?
What if she has backwash chakra?!
