Amina was riding atop Senna with the horse in full armor. She herself remained in her normal gear: black leggings and boots, deep blue undershirt and her black leather vest over top and her elven cloak from Lothlorien over that. Eowyn had attempted to give her a helmet to wear, she tried it, but it just wasn't happening. The bulky thing was far too large for her head and hindered her sight. Though Amina was happy that Eomer presented her with better fitting chain mail.

From a distance she saw that Merry was ready to go dressed in his full esquire regalia; helmet included. As she rode closer to him she overheard part of a conversation he was having with the king.

"Little hobbits do not belong in war Master Meriadoc."

Amina frowned just as Merry argued back, "All my friends have gone to battle. I would be ashamed to be left behind."

But Theoden wasn't having it, "It is a three day gallop to Minas Tirith and none of my riders can bear you as a burden."

Quite upset the hobbit yelled out, "I want to fight!"

"And you will," Amina interrupted with stern eyes toward the king as she brought the hobbit up into the saddle in front of her, "Merry rides with me."

Theoden matched her stare for stare, in the end though, she was not a civilian of Rohan and therefore not under his command. "I will say no more," because there truly was no more that he could say on the matter. He admired the fearless woman but was not enthused with her show of disrespect for him. Twice now she has spoken out of turn. Had she been under his rule she'd have remained in his castle with the others of fairer sex.

The king snapped his reigns and led the rest of the Rohirrim and it's armies out of the valley of Dunharrow. Amina paused for a moment to speak with her passenger, "Are you ready Merry?"

"Yes, my lady." And he was. She could feel his unease and anger dimming and turning into courage. As long as they remained true to one another they would see this through. Amina would do everything in her power to protect him.

"Then let us go to our friends!" she whipped the reigns and Senna set off quickly to keep pace with the others.

One of the horses came to run neck and neck with her and upon glancing over she saw that it was Eowyn. The woman was in full Rohan armor, her hair hidden beneath the heavy helmet she wore. Merry noticed her then as well and the three shared a secret smile. Amina and Eowyn kept pace with each other, making sure to stay close to one another while being surrounded by the men.

On the second night the armies were stopped near a large lake. They had succeeded so far in keeping Eowyn hidden from Theoden and Eomer and anyone else who might report her among their group. While Senna and Mariette were drinking their fill Amina subtly overhead the conversation between uncle and nephew with her keen ears; learning that Minas Tirith was already surrounded.

While Merry and Eowyn seemed to be in private conversation, Amina heard the first calls to ride for Gondor now. They could no longer wait for morning, they would travel by night to reach Minas Tirith just after dawn. Interrupting whatever Merry was saying he readily placed his helmet over his curly head and took her hand to get him into his spot on the saddle. Luckily they were both thin enough that they fit on one.

She looked over to the disguised woman who had mounted her own mare, they shared another secret look and set off with the rest of the army. It was going to be a long night's ride towards war.

"I'm glad I'm with you Amina," the hobbit softly spoke for only her to hear.

"Merry," she whispered and put both reigns in one hand to grab his shoulder tightly, "remember what Lady Galadriel told us in the woods of Lothlorien? There is hope yet as long as we stay true to each other. I am proud of you, I want you know that."

She couldn't see him but the hobbit was grinning from ear to ear, somehow she knew exactly what he needed to hear. "No matter what happens, my lady, I'll protect you."

Amina knew he could feel the giggle that bubbled through her though barely a sound was heard over the rushing wind, "We will look after one another, my friend."

It was quiet after that, well as quiet as could be with thousands of riders tearing through the land to make haste towards Minas Tirith. She was going to have to keep a close eye on him, Eowyn too for that matter. Eventually the half-ling fell asleep leaning back against her, she held onto him tightly with an arm around his waist as they continued to ride throughout the night.

It was well into the morning by the time they crested a hill overlooking the battle. Minas Tirith was overrun with Mordor's armies. She hoped with all her heart her loved ones and friends weren't among the dead littering the ground and streets of the great white city. Amina could feel Merry stiffen in front of her as they found themselves beside Eowyn on the front line, his thoughts were more than likely similar to her own.

The horn of Rohan sounded out proudly announcing their arrival to the war. It brought strength and courage to the men, she could feel it as they all took in the carnage below.

"No matter what," she told Merry and looked to Eowyn's side, "stay by me. Keep your eyes open at all times; and remember we fight for our friends and freedom."

She saw Eowyn nod towards her as her grip tightened on the reigns of Mariette. Amina did the same with Senna and leaned forward to gently stroke the beautiful horse. Spears were then thrust out ahead of them by the other soldiers as Theoden rode by tapping them with his outstretched sword.

"Ride now, ride now! Ride! Ride for ruin and the world's ending! Death!"

The army yelled after him, "Death!"

"Death!" the king yelled once more

"Death!" Merry and Amina joined in.

Just off to the side Theoden looked down to see a line the Mordor army was creating to meet them just as the Rohan horn sounded out again, "Charge!"

With a quick snap of the reigns Senna started out in a light trot following after the king. Merry and Amina's courage and adrenaline building the faster Senna began to gallop. Taking them to the dark forces, arrows were then raining down on them, the soldier and horse beside them falling to his death after being struck.

Amina looked to her other side quickly and saw Eowyn still there. Turning back to the oncoming collision, she held fast to Merry in the same hand she held onto Senna's reigns. With a booming and unforgiving clash she swung her blade down removing the head of her first kill as the two forces collided. She could feel rather than see that Merry was stabbing into whatever passed just beneath the hooves of the horse. The Rohan forces easily broke the line and pushed themselves forward, destroying the enemy as they continued on through the battlefield.

The force of the Rohirrim was by far stronger on horseback than the enemy battling back against them from the ground. After a while she gave the reigns to Merry to hold in one of his hands so she could use both blades. Everywhere she turned she tried looking for Eowyn, but her disguise was working too well now that they were in the thick of battle. Every once in a while she managed to spot the woman fighting just as hard as all the men, always seeing that she remained close to her and Merry.

The sheer number of the orcs and even a couple trolls were slowly being thinned out.

"Drive them to the river!" she could hear Eomer's shout not to far off from her.

And sure enough their forces began to drive them back, as Theoden proclaimed, "Make safe the city!"

That was when she, along with all the others that were finishing off their kills noticed it. Her mouth dropped open in a horrible awe. Coming towards them but still off a ways was a line of giant olliphants bearing thousands of foreign men upon their backs.

"Reform the line!" Theoden commanded, "Reform the line!"

"No!" Amina shouted but to no avail. There was no way they could stand in a line against such an advantageous army. Hundreds would be killed in the first collision alone. She held back and was glad to see Eowyn atop Mariette following in her example.

The two horses rode after the rest of the Rohirrim once they blew the horn once more to muster their courage and then charged forward. And just like she thought would happened, it did, several of the Rohirrim riders in the reformed line were immediately trampled to death, horses and all. It was devastating to see such sudden death of that magnitude and to hear the fearful screams of grown men as their lives came to a suffering and tortuous end.

She let out a breath of tense air as she noticed the rest of Rohan's forces finding their way between the giant legs of their new enemy. Wishing she had a bow and some arrows with her Amina did her best to ride as close as possible to slice into the flesh of the thick-skinned legs.

From the corner of her eye she saw that Eowyn bravely ran under one of the olliphants to slice into all four legs of the great beast, it was enough to make it fall to the ground on its hind legs, shaking the ground with its huge size. The men riding on top were tossed out and were made to defend themselves on their level. The vibrating thunder of the fall knocked the Rohan maiden off of her horse though.

With new determination Amina sent Senna soaring towards her fallen friend and now comrade, she and Merry made quick work to dismount Senna and ran to Eowyn's aid. Most of the olliphants had been felled by this point. Only a few more remained off in the distance slowly yet surely making their way towards the ensuing war.

"Are you alright!?" Amina demanded as she closed in on her.

Glancing around she pulled the girl to her feet just as a swarm of orcs rushed at the three of them. One tried to pick Merry up but he luckily slashed at him in the throat and moved on to start in on the battle beside his two friends. Amina had both blades in her hands, turning and twisting in every passing moment, killing every orc that met the end of her swords. Eowyn was fighting fiercely as well, felling most orcs with one or two blows.

Just as Amina killed the last of the two orcs that tried to ambush them Eowyn cried out in terror as she bore witness to her king and uncle being flung through the air by one of the Nazgûl ringwraights.

Amina took off after Eowyn as the woman raced towards her fallen kin, standing before the witch king and his beast. "I will kill you if you touch him," Eowyn spoke in a grim voice.

"Do not come between my pet and his prey," the shrill yet ghostly voice returned to her.

The monster then lunged for her but Amina got there just in time to knock her out of the way and with powerful strikes cut off its head.

Standing side by side now as the ringwraith stood from his foul beast the witch king faced them. He dropped his weapon of a massive mace to the ground menacingly, flinging it toward them both with thundering power. Ducking at the last minute Amina watched as Eowyn caught the brunt of the strike with her shield. She made to go to her but only to end up jumping in mid-air to avoid having her legs crushed. Eowyn was clearly hurt yet she fought to stand as Amina continue to weave and duck as the death dealing mace whirled after her. One hit from that thing and she would be as good as dead.

Another bout of orcs descended on her then and slowly drew her away from Eowyn and the witch king as her blond friend took her place in dodging the massive weapon. Amina battled hard to kill them all when she noticed Merry bravely coming up from behind to stab the Nazgûl in the back. While she couldn't understand what was being said but she widened her eyes at seeing Eowyn remove her helmet and thrust her sword into the face of the ghoul. And shockingly the thing collapsed in on itself, ceasing to exist.

Eowyn appeared to be alright as she crawled herself over to the fallen king, knowing that Theoden was unfortunately not going to survive to see the rest of this fight. Amina would have gone to him but her thoughts were on Merry. Where did the hobbit go? He was right there just a second ago.

She turned her body about in every which direction until finally she saw him running towards her as a horde of orcs chased after him. Running to him she kept a tight grip on both blades, pushing him behind her as she passed him. She promised him that she'd take care of him and she was someone who kept their word. The orcs shifted their focus on her running straight for them and grinned at seeing she was a woman and thereby an easy kill.

That was their mistake. What was it with the male race and thinking so little of females when it came time to battle? Amina weaved her way into the thick of the horde, cutting them down as quickly as possible in the most efficient way to keep her strength going. Her shoulder was beginning to ache but she pushed through as best she could, battle had always brought upon a great source of the age-old adrenaline needed to survive. One of them was ready to strike her at an outstretched arm and Merry jumped in and warded him off, managing to get the kill. Two more and they were dead at their feet.

Amina nodded her thanks to the small hobbit who returned the gesture as she spoke, "Let's get back to Eowyn, I think she's hurt," she walked with her blades hanging down to her sides, "and you, are you alright Merry?"

"I'll be fine, let's find the shield-maiden of Rohan."

They lightly ran over to where their blonde-haired friend lay crying over the deceased body of Theoden. Amina kneeled to him to honor him in death as did the hobbit. More time would be spent on grieving for the dead after the battle was finished. This war was not quite over yet and she had to check on her friend. Taking the time to look Eowyn over, Amina found she'd broken her arm and was quickly losing consciousness. Then she realized Merry wasn't quite as well off as he'd told her. He had taken a pretty nasty blow to the head at some point. They were vulnerable, Merry could probably still fight but Eowyn was done and in need of healers as soon as possible.

"Amina!" Merry shouted at her, "they're coming, behind you!"

She turned and cut the head off of the first of the wild men that tried to take her out. It was up to her now, to watch over them and protect her friends. "Stay by Eowyn, I won't let them touch either of you."

It was a vow. And she ran off to meet the rest of them a distance away. Some of the men that had been riding along the giant olliphants recollected their forces to charge at what was left of the Rohirrim. They were great in numbers and her allies were too far away now. She moved as fast as her body would allow, ducking and dodging just as quickly as she brought her swords around to deal killing blows, as though caught in a whirlwind cyclone of death. Her performance a beautiful art of bloody destruction.

Just as fast as she killed them they seemed to continue running her way, looking at their faces it was almost as though they were…fleeing? That was when she saw it, after she'd swung her body around in a full swoop in arcing blows, a rush of pale green unnaturally coming over the battlegrounds. Her eyes widened when she began to notice a few of the men and orcs started to fall dead on the ground, arrows sticking out of their backs. Legolas.

Her eyes searched for him and the others, they had to be here then somewhere. The dead army, it was Aragorn, he did it! And then she saw him, her brother and now king. Pride filled her body knowing what it meant to have the dead army fighting under Aragorn's command. As she watched him she saw that he was racing forward in her direction, killing swiftly as he went. She was forced to focus elsewhere as the ground suddenly vibrated due to one of the few remaining great olliphants wildly heading her way.

"Legolas!" she heard Aragorn call out. Her eyes finally found the form of the green clad elf of Mirkwood; he was a sight for sore eyes.

In wonderment as she continued to slay any of the enemy that drew near to her and those she protected, her eyes caught glimpses of the one she had grown to care so much for literally craw up the legs of the giant beast. Her heart nearly caught in her throat just as she stabbed into two orcs; he made it look easy sliding down the snout of the very thing he just killed. By all rights he just saved her and the others she was watching over.

After the last few kills the orcs were being decimated by the dead army at Aragorn's command. Looking back and seeing Merry lying on the ground she moved towards him. She desperately wanted to go to her brother and to Gimli and Legolas, but the hobbit needed attention just as did Eowyn.

The main thing that stood out in her mind though, was that this part of the war was won, the white city was saved. In the deep recesses of her soul, she could feel the pride of Boromir smiling down at them all in their success of the defense for his beloved city.

Just like the others lost in these wars for Middle-earth, the brave man would never be forgotten.

A/N **Blu: Thank you everyone for your patience! I was out of commission for a while after surgery, hopefully I can get back on a regular scheduling update - fingers crossed..
