Chapter 24

Taking a Break

Saturday Morning

Ring! Ring! Ring! ...

"And whose idea was it to get a clock?" Naruto mumbled out tiredly as he placed his hand on the ringing alarm clock and froze it with his powers. "It was supposed to be used to get your lazy butt up." Eva mumbled as well as she rubbed her eyes. "Well it worked." Naruto replied as he tried to sit up in bed but two little weights on his chest had him reconsidering. Looking down Naruto saw Iris and Chaos resting on his chest with drool coming out of Chaos's mouth. 'Oh boy and I like this shirt too.' Naruto mentally complained. Gently nudging the sleeping children Naruto watched as they both struggled to open their eyes. Within a few more seconds both girls were awake but tiredly looking around. "Morning girls. Sleep well?" Naruto asked greeting the two blonde haired girls with a question. "Dada?" Chaos said as she looked into Naruto's sky blue eyes. "Yeah its dada." Naruto said as he sat up in his bed and through his legs over the side where his feet touched the hardwood floor. "Morning daddy." Iris said as she snuggled up into Naruto's side with a happy smile on her face. "Morning dada." Chaos said as she climbed onto Naruto's back with her arms around his neck. "Morning girls now it's time to start our day." Naruto said while standing up with Iris in his arms and chaos latched onto his back which is her favorite place.

Moving to the bathroom Naruto and the girls went through the process of brushing their teeth and freshening up. "Ah, nothing like your special water to help keep your teeth white huh Eva?" Naruto said as he and the girls stepped out of the bathroom and went to the kitchen were Naruto began gathering materials for their breakfast. Going with eggs, bacon, and pancakes?" Eva asked as she flew around Naruto's head. "Yeah I think that would be best." Naruto said as he began making the batter. "Really or is it because you ran out of instant ramen and you don't want to admit it." Eva said in a sing song tone of voice. Freezing up a bit Naruto had a defeated look on his face. "Yeah you got it in one Eva." Naruto admitted. Laughing at Naruto Eva flew over to Iris and Chaos who were sitting on the table looking squeamish. "Hey girls what's the matter?" Eva asked landing in Iris's lap. Looking down at her 'big sister' Iris pouted. "We want to help daddy." Iris said. "Oh girls it's alright daddy can handle making breakfast." Eva said as she patted Iris's chubby stomach.

"No we want to help." Iris said as she stood up on the table with her feet wobbling. "Uhmm Iris what are you doing?" Eva asked uneasily. "The table has to be set." Iris replied. Walking towards the end of the table Eva started to panic. "Naruto!" Eva shouted as Iris actually jumped the distance between the table and counter. Hearing his partner's call Naruto turned around just in time to see Iris jump and reacting Naruto threw his arm out to steady Iris whose small feet were teetering on the edge of the counter. "Iris! Are you crazy you could have hurt yourself?" Naruto chastise the two and half year old who looked up at her father with watery eyes and a pouting lip because he raised his voice. "But I want to help." Iris whined out with watery eyes. 'Oh crap not those eyes. Are they some type of Jutsu?' Naruto questioned in his mind as he couldn't bring himself to be angry at the bold stunt Iris just pulled.

"Oh sweetie I know but it's dangerous especially what you just did." Naruto said as he reached out to put her back with her sister. "No but look I can help." Iris said as she turned towards the cabinet with the dishes inside. Stopping dead in his tracks Naruto felt his chakra stir on its own which startled him but upon concentrating on it for a moment he realized that it was Iris's energy stirring within his chakra network. 'What the?' Naruto though as he saw his little girl wave her arms around in a sloppy circular fashion and what happened next had him shell shocked. A gentle breeze began to circulate around him and seconds later the door to the cabinet flew open. "Did she just control wind?" Eva asked in disbelieve. "You've got to be kidding me." Naruto said. "See and I can do this!" Iris said excitedly as she waved her arms around again and a dish from the stack of plates lifted up out of the cabinet and began to float over Iris's head towards the table where Chaos reached out with her hands and grabbed the plate.

In complete disbelieve Naruto receded into his inner thoughts. 'Remember Naruto your two daughters are not normal children. They have strange powers and are obviously not completely human if human at all. So you should expect things like this.' Naruto rationalized in his mind. "Iris how did you do that?" Eva asked in amazement. "I learned it in a dream big sis." Iris explained with a happy smile on her face. 'A dream?' Both Naruto and Eva questioned at the same time. 'Wait her eyes.' Naruto thought and sure enough when he looked at Iris's eyes there was a tiny tint of green to them. 'Just as I thought they have a greenish tint to them just like all the other times she did something weird. I really need to start putting more effort into figuring out just what exactly are these two girls.' Naruto thought as he picked Iris up into his arms. "What dream Iris?" Naruto asked. "Weird dream." Iris said simply as she buried her head into Naruto's chest letting him know that he wasn't getting any more out of her.

Sensing the mood Chaos got everyone's attention. "Dada look at what I can do." She announced as on her pointer finger a tiny dark colored flame appeared on her hand and with it she burned a smiley face into the wood of the table right were her seat is placed. 'It's going to be another one of those days.' Eva though in her mind blandly at seeing the strange abilities that were manifesting in the two toddlers. "That's great Chaos." Naruto said with a nervous laugh as his thoughts were along the same line as Eva's. Showing her gratitude at her father's praise grinned ear to ear.

After breakfast Naruto dressed both girls up in clothes for the day which was slightly harder than normal since both girls were exited to show off their new found powers. Bringing the girls to the apartment level below them Naruto set about gathering toys and other trinkets for the girls to play with. "Boy I still can't believe we got most of this apartment fixed up." Eva commented. "Yeah it's been awhile. Remember when we first came down here and you freaked out over those bugs." Naruto chuckled. "Hey not funny! Those bugs were nasty and I was doing them a favor by freezing them." Eva fired back with an embarrassed blush on her face. "Yeah sure you were." Naruto teased as he found what he was looking for.

Grabbing a stack of books Naruto brought them over to the coffee table with the couches surrounding it. Setting the girls down on the couch Naruto grabbed some of the toys and began playing with them for the next three hours.

Soon enough it was around 11:00 am and Naruto knew he would eventually have to leave the apartment. "Hey girls do you want me to read you a story?" Naruto asked as the girls were playing with some of the toys. "Yeah please read us a story daddy." Iris said excitedly with Chaos nodding her head up and down rapidly. Grabbing both girls Naruto sat them down in his lap and grabbed one of the many books on the table. Opening it up Naruto began to read to them. Soon however Chaos and Iris started to read along or at least try to.

"Hey girls are you trying to read?" Naruto asked in shock as he saw the girls struggle with sounding out the words. Trying to form the sentences in the picture book was a little bit of a task for them. 'But they're so good at speaking and forming complete sentences so what's stopping them now?' Naruto wondered. Continuing like this for another few minutes eventually Chaos got a little frustrated and began to pout. Staring at the book for a few seconds Chaos's eyes began to turn red and Naruto felt a tug on his chakra reserves yet again. Watching what transpired next Naruto witnessed as Chaos fully spoke the entire sentence without any problems. Turning to look at Eva who gave him a look Naruto turned back to Chaos who was smiling now. "That was great Chaos but try the next one without doing that little eye trick of yours." Naruto said while rubbing Chaos's stomach which got giggles out of the toddler. Turning the page in the book Chaos tried again with a little bit more success but like last time she could not completely the sentences. Quickly getting frustrated Chaos eyes were beginning to turn red once again. Feeling the tug on his chakra Naruto gently shook Chaos which apparently caused her to lose her concentration since her eyes returned to purple. "No Chaos, don't do that try it on your own." Naruto said.

Trying once again Chaos failed to read what was on the pages and this time she let her frustration take over. With her eyes flashing red for half a second the book in Naruto's hands suddenly lit up in purple flames which caused Naruto to drop the book. The book burnt quickly until there was nothing left of it. Pouting heavily Chaos refused to look at Naruto who she knew was looking down at her. "Now, now Chaos that wasn't right. You shouldn't give up so easily sweetie. You won't be able to do everything right away sometimes things take time." Naruto said in a soothing voice as he rubbed Chaos's stomach just like she likes it which eventually got her to look up at Naruto with shame in her eyes. "Sorry dada." Chaos mumbled out. "Hey its ok you'll get it but you can't give up." Naruto said as Chaos leaned into him. Feeling compelled Naruto leaned down and hesitated for a moment before he planted a quick kiss on Chaos's forehead before pulling away with a tiny embarrassed blush on his face. It would appear that after all this time Naruto was still shy and unused to showing such affection to the girls.

Liking the feeling of the quick kiss to her forehead Chaos smiled a megawatt smile and buried her face into his chest although he could still see the corner of her mouth turned up in her large smile. Eva who was sitting down on Naruto's shoulder smiled proudly at Naruto for the way he handled the situation. 'Good job Naru.' She thought before movement below her caught her attention. Iris with her new found power to control wind levitated another of the books off the table and over to Naruto who grabbed it. "See Chaos even your sister doesn't want you to give up now want to try again?" Naruto asked as he opened up the book and watched as Chaos slowly took her face out of his chest and peaked at the book with one of her eyes. Soon enough she turned to face the book and tried again.

Within minutes she made another mistake but instead of pouting she continued going and eventually she was able to read all the words on the page and feeling eager the words on the following page as well. "Yay dada I did it! I did it! I did it!" Chaos shouted out as she was able to read the entire page once she truly got going. Squeezing Chaos tightly to his chest Naruto had a giant grin on his face. "That's the way to do it sweetie I'm so proud of you." Naruto congratulated as he watched Chaos who was grinning ear to ear hug Iris who was besides her who was also laughing happily. Indescribable warmth bubbled up inside Naruto's chest over took him as he leaned back in the chair he was sitting in and just watched as Chaos and Iris play with each other in his lap. 'I felt happy when she was finally able to read for the first time. I felt really happy. Is this what it feels like to be proud of your child? Is this what a parent feels?' Naruto contemplated in slight melancholy but he was brought out of his thoughts by the feeling of Eva planting a tiny kiss on his cheek.

Feeling embarrassed Naruto looked over to Eva who wore a proud smile on her face. "Good job Naru you handled that well. I'm proud of you too." Eva said in a sweet voice that got Naruto to crack a warm smile. Flying down to Chaos Eva kissed her on the nose and congratulated her as well. "Good job sweetie." Grinning Chaos took her chubby fingers and grabbed Eva out of the air who tried to get away when she saw what was about to happen. Bringing Eva to her mouth Chaos began to plant wet baby kissed all over Eva who was struggling valiantly to get away but to no avail. "No Chaos stop! Stop! You're getting drool all in my hair!" Eva complained which got Naruto to peel out into joyful laughter at Eva's misfortune.

Playing a few more games with the girls for the next hour Naruto eventually called it quits and started to put up all the toys. Grabbing the girls Naruto made his way back to his apartment above and grabbed a few of his belongings. "Ok girls were going out today so I'll need for you to transform for me." Naruto said while the toddlers complying. With Iris turning into a teddy bear and Chaos turning into a choker with a chain Naruto then transformed himself into his Menma personality and left his apartment. Leaving the slums district after stopping off at Miss Furukawa's house to bid her a good day Naruto traveled down the busy streets seemingly with a destination in mind. 'Wait I'm going to need some snacks and stuff.' Naruto thought to himself as he stopped in the street with a contemplative look on his face. Looking around scanning the crowed Naruto's blue eyes eventually landed on a potential target. A snobbish looking man with a small escort of men and woman was walking by on the other side of the wide dirt road and with the way the man was acting Naruto knew without a doubt that the man was rich and arrogant. 'Well I didn't bring much money on me for the day so I'll just have to borrow some.' Naruto thought to himself simply as he slowly wondered over to the man and his escort. "Hey Naru what are we doing?" Eva asked. "Oh nothing much just getting us some money for the day." Naruto replied which tipped Eva off and let her know just what to do next.

It happened in a few seconds. After bumping into the man and being knocked down Naruto as Menma pretended to be intimidated by the large man who was berating him for running into him. Eva took this opportunity to take the man's wallet which was overflowing with cash. With everyone focused on the man and Naruto including his escort Eva made away with the wallet and flew underneath a food stand a few yards away. Jumping to his feet Naruto apologized several times in an intimidated manner as he slowly eased his way pass the man and his escort with the man glaring daggers into his skull. Walking away Naruto walked up to the food stand bent down to look at the foods on sale in the shelves below while he grabbed Eva and the wallet from underneath the large wooden stand. Buying several snacks Naruto left the area with a grin on his face which grew when he could faintly here the man in the distance screaming his head off about most of his money being gone.

Finding an alleyway Naruto settled down and shined a devilish grin at Eva who was laughing her butt off. "Another good score Eva. Great job." Naruto congratulated his friend with a fist bump. "Why thank you good sir." Eva said with a giggle. Alright let's go." Naruto said as he put Eva back into his hair and made his way to the clan compounds in the higher end districts of the village. Quickly making is way over to the Hyūga compound Naruto made a bird call that he recently learned how to do from practicing with Shoko much to Iris's delight.

Soon enough Naruto saw Hinata leave the Hyūga compound with her little sister Hanabi in tow and luckily without her annoying bodyguard Kurruk following her. Naruto watched as Hinata led her younger sister two blocks down the street away from the Hyūga clan compound. Meeting up with them Naruto approached Hinata from behind. "So did you get my call Hinata?" Naruto said with a joking tone of voice. Giggling a little Hinata replied. "I couldn't miss it." Smiling Naruto looked behind Hinata to see Hanabi poking her head out from behind Hinata's shoulder. "Hello there." Naruto greeted causing the perpetual blush on Hanabi's cheeks to darken in shyness. "Naruto I would like to introduce you to my little sister." Hinata said as she gently pulled Hanabi out in front of her. The three year old girl averted her eyes from Naruto who bent down to be more at level with Hanabi's height. "Um, hi my name is Hanabi Hyūga." Hanabi said as she introduced herself. "It's nice to finally meet you Hanabi I've heard so much about you. My Name is Naruto Uzumaki and I'm your older sister's best friend." Naruto formally introduced himself to the little girl who was still having trouble looking him in the eyes.

Looking Hanabi over Naruto noticed that she was extremely adorable yet at the same time she didn't look entirely like her sister. Hanabi was a girl who just turned three years old about a month prior. She had dark brown hair that reached to her chin that hid her ears. She also had a single thick lock of hair that went down the center of her face then curved off to the left side of her face and stopped at the bottom of her chin. As for her eyes she had the same Pale lavender eyes as her sister although hers was just a shade lighter. On her cheeks was a perpetual blush that Naruto wasn't sure if it was natural or caused by makeup. She was wearing a sleeveless pink kimono with a lighter shade of pink for a long sleeve shirt underneath. Around her waist was an amethyst colored sash used to tie her kimono closed. She had on normal shoes to protect her feet. All in all she was a shining example of adorable.

"So ready to go?" Naruto asked to which Hinata said yes. "Um Naruto why do you have a teddy bear?" Hanabi asked when she noticed Naruto with the brown bear tied to his waist. "Oh this you'll just have to wait and see." Naruto said with a grin as he grabbed Hinata and gave her a piggy back ride and then with his one arm available he easily scooped up Hanabi into his arms with the little girl having a megawatt blush on her face because of the unfamiliar contact. "Where are we going?" Hanabi stuttered out. "Somewhere really fun, trust me." Naruto said as he took off onto the rooftops which helped cut down the time it would take to get to their destination.

Reaching the outskirts of the village in minutes Naruto entered the training grounds with both girls on him. Touching down in the training ground Naruto set the girls down and fell back into the soft grass below him. "Well that was a fun ride." Naruto said with a grin. "Yeah it was." Hinata agreed happily. Hanabi didn't know what to think really and she was still trying to process the whole thing with Naruto picking her up.

"So Hanabi today were going to be meeting quite a few amount of people so I thought it would be a good idea to start you off with some your age." Naruto said as he took off the teddy bear that was on his waist and held it loosely in his arms. 'Ok girls you can come on out.' Naruto mentally said. With that a poof of smoke covered the bear and collar and in their places was Iris and Chaos. Shocked Hanabi fell on her butt while staring wide eye at what she just saw. "But how?" She whispered. Chaos started to giggle uncontrollably at this while Iris had a curious look on her face as she stared down Hanabi. "It's a long story but these two girls are my daughters and hopefully after today your friends." Naruto said with enthusiasm. "It's a lot to take in Hanabi but I'll explain everything to you real soon so for now just go say hello they've been eager to meet you for a while." Hinata said in a gentle voice as she gave her little sister a nudge towards the two blonde haired girls.

Walking up to the girls and they doing the same all three children stood face to face with neither of them saying a word. Finally Chaos the ever cheerful one broke the silence. "Hi my names Chaos what's yours?" She asked with her signature grin. "My name is Hanabi Hyūga what's yours?" Hanabi asked politely just as she had been taught. "My name is Chaos Uzumaki!" Chaos said with enthusiasm. "Chaos? I've never heard of someone being named that before." Hanabi said in confusion. "Yep that's because I'm special daddy said so." Chaos said while lightly jumping up in down in uncontrollable happiness. Turning to Iris Hanabi was about to say something when Iris beat her to it. "Hi my name is Iris Uzumaki it's nice to meet you." Iris introduced herself politely. "Nice to meet you too." Hanabi replied respectfully. "You're really pretty and I like your hair." Iris said charmingly getting a blush of embarrassment out of Hanabi who was unused to this bold and straight forward way of addressing someone.

Naruto and Hinata stood off to the side and watched as this happened with smiles on their faces. Just then Eva popped out of Naruto's hair with a grin on her face. "Aww they're so adorable. I want to turn them into frozen popsicles." Eva said excitedly with Naruto and Hinata giving her strange looks. "What?! What's with that look?" Eva asked defensively when she saw her friend's faces. "Hey Eva how are you?" Hinata asked her tiny friend. "Doing good but I have the strangest urge to freeze something." Eva said blandly while lazily floating up to Hinata's hair where she sat down in Hinata's indigo hair.

Walking up to the three girls who were starting up a proper conversation with each other Naruto grabbed their attention. "Hey girls this training ground is really bland and it has nothing in it compared to the parks so you want me to spice things up a bit?" Naruto asked considerately. "Yeah, yeah I want a slide dada!" Chaos shouted in glee at the prospect of going down a slide.

"A slide huh?" Naruto contemplated to himself in a mumble. "Ok I think I can do that so stand back behind me." He said as he walked forward a few steps while flexing his chakra for what he had to do. Seeing this Hinata and Eva looked on in curiosity as well as the three little girls who were excited to see what was about to happen. Feeling her Yōki beginning to stir like normal Eva caught on to what Naruto was about to do.

Clapping his hands together Naruto moved his body into a stiff stance before he slammed his palms into the ground. "Ice Style: Ice Make Jutsu!" Naruto shouted out as he surged a sizeable amount of chakra into the ground in front of him. Out of the ground came a huge cubed shape block of ice that reflected the sunlight in the sky bathing the training ground in a soft rainbow of colors. "Wow!" The girls said in awe as they waved their hands around them and watched as the rainbow streams of light passed through their arms. Smiling at their enthusiasm Naruto continued what he was doing. Pushing more chakra into his Jutsu the ice started to crack and chip until large chunks started to fall off and some pieces started to melt in impossible ways until finally a slide stood where the huge block of ice previously stood. The debris field of ice chunks melted and absorbed itself into the ground quickly. "Amazing." Hanabi whispered out in awe as she stared at Naruto's back. "Yay! A giant slide!" Chaos shout in glee as she rushed over to the ice slide her father made for her. Walking over to his construction Naruto picked of Chaos and climbed to the top where there was a small platform made of ice. "Ready?" Naruto asked. Shaking her head yes chaos was suddenly screaming in delight as Naruto gently nudged her down the extremely smooth surface of the slide. At the end of the slide Hinata grew a little worried since she thought that Chaos was going to hurt herself hitting the ground. However her fears were swept away when Chaos landed in the dirt below the slide and stood up right after with some difficulty.

Looking to Naruto for answers the blonde haired boy complied. "Don't worry, when I melted the ice I had it all melt in one spot which is the spot right in front of the slide so when the girls come down it they will fall into a cushion. The ground is super soft in that spot so they won't hurt themselves." Naruto explained. Sighing in relive Hinata then smiled when she saw both Chaos and Iris grab on to one of Hanabi's hands each and drag her over to the slide so that she could have a turn. "Thank you Naruto for this. I'm so glad that Hanabi can have someone her age to play with. I didn't want her to turn out like me or any of my clan's men my age. It's always training and practicing with us so we never get to have fun or go out with friends, if we're lucky to have them that is." Hinata said with a content smile on her face as she saw Hanabi fly down the slide while screaming with Chaos laughing the whole way down and Iris taking a more lady like approach to just slide down with a whoop.

Giving Hinata a one armed hug Naruto cracked a soft grin. "You're welcome besides I didn't just do it completely for the kids you know." Naruto replied. Blushing Hinata started to stutter which got Naruto to chuckle. Just then they heard a rustle behind them and out of the bushes emerged none other than Henrietta who was looking very shy at the moment although she did notice the fact that Naruto was hugging Hinata. "I also did this for you." Naruto whispered to Hinata finishing off his last sentence. Grinning Naruto let go of Hinata and walked over to Henrietta who was looking really nervous. "Come on it's the big day so don't be too shy on me." Naruto said as he grabbed Henrietta's hand and walked her over to Hinata. Henrietta blushed at this since she normally gets embarrassed whenever Naruto holds her hand. Hinata noticed this and a weird feeling bubbled up inside her chest. Not done yet Naruto grabbed Hinata by the hand which while she was use to still got her to blush. Bringing both girls together only a few feet away Naruto stepped back with Eva who flew to his shoulder and both waited in anticipation to what was about to happen.

Honey brown eyes met pale lavender.

Authors Note (A/N): Well there you have it lady's and gentlemen Hinata and Henrietta are about to meet and Hanabi was introduced to Chaos and Iris so stay tuned for whats next.
