Matt returned to the hospital a week later, still on his walking stick but getting better by the day. He had to thank a kind nurse for her help in getting him physically able to move around more. During that time though, Amy hadn't gotten much better. She wasn't even talking to Arthur any more. It didn't seem to matter what medication she was on either. Luckily she wasn't getting any worse though. He had found this out on his first day back, where Alex greeted him with both a kiss, and a slap across his face.
"I'm assuming that was for the whole getting shot thing," he said as he rubbed his cheek.
She pulled him into a hug saying, "don't you dare scare me like that again!"
Matt grinned and hugged her back. "No promises, but I'll try," he said.
After that, the two headed to get Amy back as Matt's patient. Things didn't exactly go as planned though. The director of the ward didn't want to change Amy's doctors again for fear that she would become even worse. Matt and Alex tried to convince the director otherwise, but was unable to do so. He did agree to one thing though. Amy would be going into a detox period for the next week so her body would be rid of the previous medications she had taken before she took new ones. During that time, Matt could watch her for a couple hours each day, but he also had a new patient he was assigned to.
Matt walked down the hall to the room of his new patient, a miss Clara Oswald. She was suffering from a split personality disorder. "Hello Miss Oswald," he said opening the door to her room,"I'm Dr. Matt Smith, I'll be your doctor for the coming wee-"
She suddenly popped up in front of him, cutting his sentence off. "Oswin Oswald, reporting for duty!" she said, saluting. Well this was going to be interesting!

After that little session, Matt had to watch Karen for the next few hours. She was absolutely delighted to see him again, but something was definitely off about her behavior. She was going out of her way to avoid Arthur. When Matt asked why this was, he got a response he wasn't quite expecting.
"Rory and I are getting a divorce," she said.
"What?!" He sputtered, "You're kidding me right?" He knew he really shouldn't have asked that question. With Amy, everything is serious.
"Yes I'm serious," she said without even a grin.
"Amy, you can't be having a divorce..." He muttered, rubbing his temples. 'Because you were never married in the first place,' he thought.
"Yes I can Doctor. Bad things happen," she said, "and try as you like, you're not going to be able to fix us like you fix your bow-tie." That caused Matt subconsciously adjust his bow-tie before sighing.
There was no point in arguing. "Whatever makes you happy," he he decided to tell Arthur what was going on.
"..How can we be having a divorce? We were never married!" Arthur questioned.
"That's what I said," Matt said, "at least you know why she's not talking to you."
Arthur gave a dry laugh. "Yeah, that's not exactly helpful when why she's not talking to me is something I can't fix!" he said. All Matt could do was shrug. Then Alex walked into the break room.
"Hey, Alex," Matt greeted with a smile. Arthur gave a small wave.
The ends of Alex's mouth twitched upward for a second before falling again. "Hello Sweetie," she said, "You'll need to head over to Amy's room soon."
"Thanks. Something bothering you?" Matt said, noticing her tired expression.
She dropped into one of the chairs with a sigh. "Well," she said, "I have some bad news." Matt and Arthur shared a concerned look before nodding for her to continue. "Do you remember when those thugs broke into the hospital and took Amy hostage?" she asked.
"Yes," Matt said, worried.
"Well one of them is going to be here...as a patient," she said.

To be continued...
I'm so sorry guys. I know I promised to get this story done by April fool's day, but that is obviously not going to happen. All sorts of crud has been going on lately and I haven't had a lot of inspiration nor motivation to work on this story. I'm sorry this is also so short. I wanted to get something out for you guys. If it makes you feel any better, I've been working on a couple of other stories. I've been working on one here called our "nanny went to outer space". I also have one on Fictionpress that's an original story called "angel of the Amazon". Again, I am so sorry and I thank you for your patience. Hope you liked this chapter!
