Souta shook his head, "are you going to be like this the rest of the day?"
Kohaku let out another sigh, "it's just a ball crusher man."
"How did you ever think you had a chance with her, bro?"
Kohaku widened his brown eyes before he hardened his eyes at his friend, "I could say the same thing about you and Rin neechan."
Souta scratched the back of his head, "I didn't know you knew about that."
Kohaku shook his head, "I would have had to be blind not to know about it."
"Souta-kun, Kohaku-kun!"
The two teens looked ahead and abut stopped in their tracks.
"Are you seeing what I am seeing?"
Kohaku slowly nodded his head to his friends question.
Sayuri was running towards them. She was wearing a two piece white suit, and from what the two could gather... she was barely keeping herself in it.
She had long brown hair and bangs. She was always pretty and fashionable, and of course, out of their league. She was in different circles after all.
And, of course, Sayuri-chan was Rin neechans' little sister.
But then she ran passed them to hug someone else. A slightly older male. A graduate from the previous year.
"I am glad you two could make it," Kiyomi told them as she ran up to them. It was Kimi-chan that called for them. They just got lost in their thoughts
"Yeah, no problem," Souta replied. He was having a rather hard time taking his eyes off Sayuri.
Kiyomi noticed the two males staring at Sayuri, and it was almost immediate that she began to roll her eyes, "Earth to Kohaku-kun and Souta-kun."
Kohaku widened his eyes, before he smiled at the other girl.
He hit his friend in the back of the head, who grumbled, but he finally was able to make eye contact with Kiyomi.
"You two are hopeless," Kimi grumbled as she crossed her arms over her chest.
It wasn't that she was jealous. She knew they would be attracted to Sayuri. Most guys she knew were. It was just odd when it was two of her best friends that were ogling.
Souta lifted his shoulders. "It's not like we aren't going to look," he told her to try to explain their behavior.
Kimi rolled her eyes, "she is taken though. There isn't much you can do."
"Except look at the amazing work of god, am I right?" Kohaku asked Souta with a wink.
Souta quickly nodded his head, "So, what kind of food you got in here, Kimi-chan?"
Kiyomi felt her mouth hang open, "what makes you think you two get any food?"
Souta grinned at her as he placed an arm over her shoulders, "come on! We have been friends forever, and you should know boys will be boys," he told her with a wink.
"Besides, you know you love us," Kohaku replied as he placed his hands in his pockets.
Kiyomi felt her cheeks redden, "fine. There is pizza in the kitchen," she told them as she crossed her arms over her chest.
Souta kissed her on the cheek, "thanks Kimi-chan."
Kiyomi sat there a moment and watched her two friends make their way into her house.
She let out a long sigh. This summer was going to be different.
'I am going to finally tell him,' she vowed and with that promise she made her way over to the pool to entertain some of her guests.

"So Kimi-chan looked good," Souta commented when they grabbed some pizza.
Kohaku lifted his shoulders, "I guess. Her hair looks better down though."
Kiyomi was wearing a blue two piece bathing suit. Her wavy hair was up in a loose pony tail, but she had a good tan going on.
"I don't know why you are always talking about how good she looks. Sounds to me like you like her, bro," Kohaku replied as he took a bite of his pizza.
Souta widened his blue eyes, "It's not that. I just ... I don't know," he replied as he scratched the back of his head.
"If you want to talk about fine chicks," Kohaku replied as he held up his hands like he was picturing the words across the sky. "Sayuri-san was fine."
Souta grinned at him, "I know man."
"That killer body," Kohaku replied as he shook his head. "But you have a thing for the Shimizu sisters, so it's not like I have to tell you anything," he replied flippantly.
Souta rolled his eyes, "whatever, man."
"Are you ever going to tell Rin neechan how you feel about her?"
Souta widened his eyes, "I can't do that."
Kohaku shrugged his shoulders, "I bet she has something for you."
He really didn't care either way, but he knew that his friend needed to tell the woman something. He was tired of the skype chats about the girl.
Souta shook his head, "that's not the point. I couldn't do that to neechan."
"Is she here?" Kohaku asked as he started to look around.
Souta gave him a deadpanned look, "I swear, I have no idea why I let you off the hook with being obsessed with my sister."
Kohaku felt his shoulders fall, "don't mention the better Higurashi unless you see her."
Souta hardened his eyes, "okay. I need to catch some air. I can't stand the smell of pussy boy."
He heard Kohaku try to yell something back to him, but he just ignored it. He needed a breather.
"Sometimes I have no idea why he is my best friend."
He was walking around the corner of Kimi's house when he ran into something.
He widened his eyes, "Sayuri?"
She wiped quickly at her eyes. She had been crying, "why don't you watch where you walk?"
He hardened his eyes at her, "well, if you weren't standing on the side of the house, we wouldn't be having this conversation."
She turned fully towards him then. Her chest was the main point of focus for him, but he could tell that she was mad. Her hands were on her hips.
"It is not my fault you can't watch where you are going," she shot up at him.
"And it's not my fault you can't pick a better spot to hide in," he grumbled back at her.
He crossed his arms over his chest, "what are you doing here anyways? Where is Tenchi-senpai?"
He really didn't mean to spew the name like a curse, but he couldn't stand to see her with that jerk. They might not have gotten along, but no one deserved to date that piece of shit.
Her shoulders fell.
Her demeanor changed.
She tightly closed her bright brown eyes, "he ran into Ai-chan."
His blue eyes widened, "oh."
He had forgotten that she was here, and when there was a whore to bed, he knew Tenchi would be all over it.
She looked at Souta. He had filled out nicely since their sophomore year. His brown hair was messy, but in a clean way. His body though, is what took her slightly off guard. She remembered two years ago. He was skinny and tall. There was no muscle there. He definitely did not have that problem anymore.
"So now you know why I am by the bushes," she told him finally.
He laughed at that, "believe me. The bushes are better company then Tenchi-senpai."
She shook her head, "when did you develop a sense of humor?"
He lifted his shoulders, "always had one. You have just been too busy chasing after the man of your dreams to notice."
A pink blush made its way unto her cheeks, "don't even go there with me, Souta-kun. Neechan tells me all the time how you act around her."
Now, it was his turn to blush. He scratched the back of his head, "I -"
But he really didn't know what to say. He was friends with Rin. They messed around like that. They had shamelessly flirted since he was like twelve, but other then that... he knew there was nothing there. Yeah, he might have wanted something more, but he knew that was only wishful thinking.
"You know she is just messing with you, right," she asked him seriously.
She didn't want to see him get hurt. Her sister was a big flirt. She heard enough of her stories to know that.
He nodded his head, "yeah, yeah. I know."
She focused her brown eyes on him. "I am serious. She is only messing with you," she told him truthfully.
His blue eyes searched over her concerned brown orbs, and not for the first time today, he caught himself staring at her, "believe me. I know when someone is attracted to me."
Her eyes widened, before she looked away.
"I don't think you are as observant as you think you are."
She hadn't meant to say it aloud.
His eyes widened, "what makes you say -"
"Souta-kun!"
He turned his head. He knew an angry Kiyomi's voice when he heard it.
He turned back towards Sayuri. She looked into his blue eyes.
"I will see you around," she told him as she rushed passed him.
He reached out for her, but he knew there was nothing he could say.
'What did she mean by that?'

He came into the kitchen to find a livid Kiyomi pointing at a rather drunk looking Kohaku.
He shook his head, "I swear I wasn't gone more then ten minutes!"
She crossed her arms over her chest, "Haku-kun what has been up with you?"
Her brown eyes turned serious, but they held a concern in them that Souta could relate to as well.
Kohaku waved her off, "I only had two beers. There is nothing to get upset about."
Souta tightened his jaw, "two in ten minutes? What are you trying to do... kill yourself?"
Kohaku rolled his eyes, "whatever."
He pushed passed the pair, "I am going to lay down for a bit."
Souta rubbed his forehead.
He turned to Kiyomi. She was rubbing her arms, "is he going to be okay?"
He let out a long sigh. "Honestly, I don't know," he told her sadly. They had seen their friend go through a lot of stages, but the hardest one was when his father died. Sango took it okay, but she wasn't living at home. Kohaku had to be reminded everyday that their father wasn't there, and it was really taking its toll on their friend.
Kimi closed her eyes. "I just want him to be better."
Souta looked over at the girl as he pulled her closer to him in an embrace. "I know. We both do."
She shook her head, "will you talk to him?"
He nodded his head. She had already tried to talk to him multiple times. It was what girls did. They worried over every little thing, but this was different. He could tell that his friend might really need a push in the right direction. This wasn't just some random drinking binge. This was a call for help.
"I will talk to him."

He made his way up the stair and down the hall to the room on the left. It was where he knew he would be.
The door jab was opened, so he casually walked inside. The room was just as it had always been. Purple covered walls. Plush white comforter over the bed along with the multiple decorations of pop idols aligning the dry walls, barely leaving a blank spot to be found.
His friend was laying on the bed looking up at the ceiling. His foot was moving up and down. A sure sign for the way he must be feeling.
'Agitated,' Souta thought as he shook his head.
He knew he would be. He was tired of Kimi nagging him all the time.
"She is only worried about you," he told his friend as he started to look over the items on her desk. There were scattered pieces of papers here and there along with a few photos of the three of them tapped to the wall behind the desk.
"I know. I just wish she would stop nagging me all the time. She acts like we are an old married couple," he grumbled.
Souta laughed at that. "What do you expect when one of your best friends is a girl," he asked him with a raise of his shoulders.
"Less nagging," Kohaku answered quickly.
Souta leaned against the white wooden desk to stare at his friend. "You would tell us.. I mean... if you needed help, right?"
Koahku sat up in the bed. "So now she has you in here nagging for her," he asked his friend angrily.
Souta held up his hands, "hey, I am just asking you a question. Call it what you want, but we are both worried about you. It's one thing to have a drink at a party. It is a completely different matter to get drunk at ten in the morning just for the hell of it."
Kohaku shook his head, "it's not like either of you would understand."
Souta hardened his eyes at him, "don't even try to pull that shit with me, Haku."
Kohaku looked over at his friend. His brown eyes were hard, "right sorry. Forgot you have seen it all. "
Souta shook his head. He didn't know what to tell his friend. He knew getting him wired up would do nothing to help him. It would just push him further into the hole he was digging for himself.
"Look we are here, if you need us," Souta told him. He had enough. He knew he needed to get out of the room if he didn't want to punch his friend in the face for acting stupid.
"Got it," Kohaku replied, but Souta didn't know if he was being serious or just sarcastic.
'Sure as hell sounded sarcastic to me,' he grumbled as he shook his head.
'Why am I the one always stuck with this shit?'
He stuffed his hands into his swim short trunks, 'it's going to be a long day.'

A/N: I am back and making ruckus!
So, I know this was a little different then the usual, but I wanted to do two things. 1: Introduce Kiyomi and Sayuri and 2: show you all more Souta. I love stories where he is a bigger part of the overall fiction. He is one of my favorite characters, and I have never written a story that he was part of. So I decided to make that change. I hope you all liked it :)
The next chapter is going to pick up with Akio and Kagome's date plus a little banter between the girls before hand. Kagome has to handle Rins nice little questions before hand anyways lol.
Thanks for reading!
