The Truth
A/N: I know some people are going to hate me after this chapter, but I think it needs to be written. I was planning on doing a chapter about the kids going back to Hogwarts but this is what happened.
It was almost Easter holidays. The first years were starting to get a lot more homework. Exams were coming and for the Quidditch team, it was even worse. It was probably a bad time for these things to happen, but happen they did.
Professor Dumbledore was in his office looking at some documents about a muggle-born wizard who had been attacked by a werewolf and had no idea that he was a wizard. He was about to write to the minister when the doors were thrown open. In came a furious looking James Potter followed by an extremely angry Sirius Black and Remus Lupin and an upset Lily Potter.
'I'm assuming this isn't a social visit?' Dumbledore asked.
'You bloody bet it's not a social visit, Dumbledore.' James practically growled, 'this is about the bloody prophecy!'
'James, I'm afraid I don't understand. The prophecy has come to pass. There is noth-'
James cut Dumbledore off.
'The prophecy may have come to pass, Dumbledore, but I'm not talking about the contents of the prophecy! I'm talking about the weasel that told Voldemort the prophecy.'
'Ah.' Dumbledore said, realization hitting him, 'so, you've been told then. Who told you?'
'Harry overheard Snape talking to someone about it.' Lily said.
'Severus was talking about it? To whom?'
'Lucius Malfoy.' Spat Sirius.
'Forgive me for not telling you, I did not think that it would ever come up again. But to talk of it to Lucius Malfoy of all people…'
'Harry was distraught when he found out. He said Snape was talking about how the plan to get rid of Harry had failed all those years ago and he was working on a new plan.' Even Remus, the ever-calm voice of reason was trembling with anger.
'It appears that Professor Snape was not to be trusted. I assure you, he will be dismissed. However, I am going to need a new potions master…' Dumbledore said, his voice was calm but his eyes blazed with anger. 'Lily perhaps you could fill the post until the end of this year?' the four wizards had calmed down now that they knew the headmaster was not involved in this plan.
'Certainly, Albus, I would be delighted to be able to teach potions.' Lily smiled slightly at her friend and old headmaster.
'In that case, Mrs. Potter, I will need to dismiss professor Snape, and then we can discuss the terms of your contract. Now perhaps you should all go and visit with Minerva and the children while I deal with Professor Snape?' they all agreed and they soon left for Minerva's office. As the door swung shut, James glanced at the headmaster and saw the fury in his eyes.
They made their way to the office of the head of Gryffindor and knocked. Professor McGonagall opened the door and ushered her four previous students in without a word. Harry, Ron and Hermione were waiting in the office. Harry ran straight to his parents while Hermione went and sat with her dad and Ron sat with Remus. Harry was crying into his father's shirt, still very upset about the betrayal of yet another uncle.
'The nerve!' said McGonagall suddenly. 'After everything we have done for that man…'
'I know how you feel, Minerva.' Said Lily as she stroked Harry's hair. 'I really hoped that he had changed. But how about we talk about something else?' James recognized her attempt to change the subject.
'How about Gryffindor's chances at the Quidditch cup this year?' asked Remus. This brightened the faces of everyone in the room. 'I'd say that we've got a pretty amazing team, wouldn't you, Minerva?'
'Most certainly,' she answered with a smile at her godson, 'what, with the youngest seeker in over a century. We've won almost every match!'
'That's brilliant!' exclaimed James.
'When's the last match?' asked Sirius.
'Dad, you know it's next weekend!' Hermione sighed, rolling her eyes. She had told her father this many times.
'Yeah, Uncle Sirius, we've told you at least a thousand times.' Harry said, accompanied by the laughter of everyone in the room.
As they were laughing, Dumbledore entered the room. 'Severus Snape is no longer a teacher at Hogwarts. He had nothing to say for his actions, only that you were rather… how did he put it? Ah yes. "Stupid for believing he actually cared for any of you." But I can assure he will not bother anyone anymore. I alerted the ministry of his plans and they have him in a holding cell. After all, plotting to kill the boy who lived is a serious crime.' Dumbledore smiled before continuing. 'Now, Lily, I am hoping that you still want to teach potions until the end of term?'
'Mum, you're going to be teaching potions?'
'Yes. At least until Professor Dumbledore can find another potions master.' Lily replied.
'Cool! I won't have to call you professor will I? It's hard enough with everyone else.'
'I don't think so. But you better behave.' Lily said. They all began laughing as Lily dropped her stern face. Severus Snape was out of their lives and forgotten as they laughed and joked in the office of the deputy headmistress.
