Chapter 23

Caitlin and I made our way to the mess hall to get a bit of food. Neither of us has ate anything since we left Starfleet. We got our food and sat down at one of the tables in the back of the room. We were silent for a long while till Caitlin decided to ask "What on earth are you eating?"

"barkaya marak. It a Vulcan vegetable soup" I informed her.

"I wanna try some, it looks so weird!" she exclaimed. I passed the bowl over to her and she scooped some up in her spoon and put it in her mouth only to spit it back out, "eww, cream of spinach."

After we finished our food I told Caitlin we should head back to the bridge and see what is happening when we came on board we heard Uhura yell "They have activated the drill. Communication and transportation are inoperative. Sulu, please tell me you have them. Otherwise we won't be able to beam them back."

Sulu hit some buttons on his console only to sigh in frustration "Kirk and Spock are on their own now."

We all sat there waiting, every minute becomes more unbearable than the last one, we had no way of known whether or not they were okay. Right when we were about to give up, the drill was destroyed and now we could try to regain communication with Spock and Jim, as well as find out where they were.

We saw that Nero was firing at another ship and decided this was the best chance to attack the ship that apparently reminded Caitlin of a giant eye ball. Me, Bones and Caitlin went back to the transporter room the wait for Jim, Spock and hopefully Pike. Suddenly we heard Jim yell over the comm. "Enterprise now!" and within seconds blue lights spun around on the transporter pad and the Jim, Pike and Spock stood. "Nice timing Scotty." Jim muttered.

"I've never beamed three people from two targets onto one pad before." He said so enthusiastically, sadly no one was paying attention to him, for they were helping Pike up on a medical bed.

We walked back on the bridge and Sulu told us or Jim "Captain, the enemy ship is loosing power. They're shields are down."

"Hail them" Jim commanded.

"This is Captain James T. Kirk of the USS Enterprise. Your ship is compromised. You're too close to the singularity to survive without assistance which we are willing to provide." Jim informed the romulans.

Spock turned around and Jim followed his lead already knowing what this was about "Captain, what are you doing?" Spock questioned.

Jim replied with a grin "You show them compassion, it may be the only way to earn peace with Romulus. It's logic Spock, thought you'd like that."

Spock shook his head as he replied "No, not really. Not this time."

They then turned around to hear Nero reply "I would rather suffer the end of Romulus a thousand times, I would rather die in agony than accept assistance from you."

"You've got it." Jim said turning off the call. "Arm phasers. Fire everything we've got." He told Sulu.

We watch as the Nerada get crushed and consumed into the black hole that was created by the wonderful red matter. "Sulu, let's go home." Jim command

"Yes sir" Sulu said more than happy to oblige.

"Why aren't we at warp?" Jim question as it was apparent that we were not going anywhere.

"We are, sir." Sulu franticly replied

Jim walked over to his chair and hit one of the many buttons "Kirk to engineering.
Get us out of here, Scotty."

"You bet your ass captain." Scotty's voice came over the intercom.

"Captain, we're caught in the gravity well. It's got us." Sulu informed us.

"Go to maximum warp. Push it!" Jim yelled.

"I'm giving it all she's got captain." Scotty yelled back.

"All she's got isn't good enough. What else you got?"Jim continued to yell.

"Okay, if we eject the core and detonate the blast could be enough to push us away. I can't promise anything though." Scotty told Jim.

"Do it! Do it! Do it!" Jim shouted. Scotty eject the core and pulled us away from the gravity of the black hole and made our way back home for much deserved break for this long and tireless day.

"Well that was a great first time in space trip right Rebecca?" Caitlin asked as we got off the shuttle back on earth.

"It depends on what your definition of great is." I told her. I look around the shuttle room and my eyes landed on Spock talking to two familiar Vulcans.

Caitlin followed my eyes to see what I was looking at and she desperately tried to get me to look at something else. Sadly her attempts failed and only raised more suspension as I made my way over to the couple.

I got there just in time to hear Spock asked "How'd you persuade him to keep your secret?"

"He inferred that, universe ending paradoxes would ensue, should he break his promise." The older Spock said to the younger Spock.

"What is going on?" I asked younger Spock.

"Apparently Nero was not the only one to come though the black hole" He answered. I nodded my head in understanding and he turned his attention back to the older Spock "You lied?"

"Oh. I... I implied." Spock Prime replied.

"A gamble?" Spock retorted.

"An act of faith. One I hope you will repeat in the future at Starfleet." Spock Prime said ending the word game

"In the face of extinction it is only logical I resign my Starfleet commission and help rebuild our race." Spock informed us.

"What?!" I exclaimed looking up at Spock.

"Yeah Spock, If you want to help rebuild your race I'm sure Rebecca would be more than glad to help you with that quest." Caitlin said patting me on the back.

"Caitlin!" I yelled at her.

"I'm… sorry I did…. not realized what that…. sounded like till afterwards!" Caitlin said through her laughter.

"And yet you can be in two places at once. I urge you to remain in Starfleet. I've already located a suitable planet on which to establish a Vulcan colony. Spock, in this case do yourself a favor. Put aside logic, do what feels right. Since my customary farewell would appear awfully self-serving I shall simply say good luck." Spock Prime said and turned to leave as the older me went to follow him.

"Wait, Rebecca." I said to the other me. She stopped and turned to look at me "Are you me and Caitlin from the other world and/or the past?"

"Yes, I found after a while to stop worrying about it, though it is easier said than done." Rebecca Prime told me.

"Alright, we are going to stay!" Caitlin cheered.

"Thank you." I simply told her and she went on her way.

"So what are we going to do now?" Caitlin asked us.

"I think I will return to our room and meditate." I plainly told Caitlin.

"But you don't meditate and that's no fun" Caitlin cried.

"Well it is a great time to start" I told her. "See you later Spock." I said to him as I made my way back to the dorm room.

One more chapter till the end of the movie part of this fanfiction. I hope you greatly enjoyed it.
