"Mary," Rin yelled running into the living room where her mom was sitting. She had been staying at the house ever since the big fight and was planning on having Rin and Elliot's dad over when both children were away.

"I told you to call me mom,"

"Where are my one pieces and swimming shorts?" Mary chuckled and placed the magazine she had been looking at on the coffee table.

"I'm not telling you,"

"You want me to wear this?!" Rin held out the bikini that had been placed in her closet in place of her preferred swimwear.

"Of course," Mary leaned back into the couch more, "You're going to the beach with your boyfriend, right, might as well show off your body. You have a great figure like your aunt," She said causing Rin to blush, "I wish I had your aunt's body shape,"

"Mary, he's not my boyfriend, and even if he was, I don't think he'd care if I wore a one piece," Rin said, blushing bright red at her mother's comments.

"Call me mom,"

"Not until you give me my bathing suits back,"

"Mary it is then," Rin gaped at her mom and huffed before stomping back to her room to put on the bikini she was given. She walked into the living room with her wallet, phone, and sunscreen.

"See, it isn't so bad," Mary said with a smile. Rin adjusted the bikini top under her shirt. It fit well enough, but she wasn't used to this much exposure. There was a knock on the door, and Elliot dashed downstairs, getting to the door before the girls could.

"Hey," Soul greeted with a grin. "Do you have the sunscreen?" Rin held up the bottle. "Great," He held out a backpack and opened it. Rin dropped her stuff in it, and put the bag on her back, buckling the straps, and adjusting them so that the bag wouldn't fall off.

"I feel like a dork with both straps buckled,"

"You look like one too," Rin slapped Soul's arm lightly.

"Okay," Rin hugged her brother. "Have fun at Andy's. Goodbye family,"

"Bye Rin," Elliot called. Mary waved. When the door closed, Mary turned to Elliot, rapid firing questions at the boy.

"How do they know each other? How close are they? What is their relationship? They seemed so close when I first met the boy, what's his name again?" Elliot looked at his mom, unfazed by the excitement and suddenness of her questions.

"They met at school I think, they're just friends, but good ones, and, no, they are not dating, his name is Soul," Elliot answered on his way back to his room.

"So… That's why you have a ruler and why you knew what to do when Soul got angry?" Elliot asked. "As well as what would make him angry," Rin nodded and patted the back of Soul's head. The albino was lying on his stomach on the couch, his head next to Rin's legs, his chest on top of them. His forehead was resting on an icepack and an ice pack had been placed on his back.

"But, no offence or anything Soul, why are you hanging out with Soul if he abused his ex," Rin felt Soul sigh.

"I'm trying to help him," Rin responded, "Plus, he can't control it most of the time." She rested her hand on Soul's head. "You know I can defend myself Ell, you've seen me do it before. You know how too as well, just remember what I told you.

"Hey Elliot," Soul said, voice muffled by the couch.

"Yeah, Soul,"

"Sorry for almost attacking you,"

"You already apologized,"

"Still… you didn't know,"

"It was a bit scary," Elliot admitted, "That's just because you're so nice usually," Rin smiled at her brother and he grinned back. "How did you two get into that position anyway?" He asked, looking at the teen lying on top of his sister's legs.

"Part way through your sister's story telling I became so ashamed that I hid my face in the couch, but would fall off if I didn't lie on top of her legs,"

"What?"

"You need to do this sometime, Elliot," Soul said, turning his head to look at the boy he was speaking to with a smirk. "Your sister's thighs are awfully comfy," Elliot blushed and Rin hit Soul's back. "I never knew you were a sadist Rin," He said turning over so that he was lying on his back, icepack falling off it in the process.

"You guys flirt weirdly," Elliot said, getting up.

"No, don't leave me alone with the perv," Rin called after her brother. The boy just waved before going into his room.

Soul laughed and snorted.

"You're terrible," Rin pouted.

"That's why you're training me isn't it? Doesn't help the sa-"

"Shut up," Rin said, placing her hand over Soul's mouth. Her face was as red as his eyes as she shoved him a bit, "Now get off me,"

"I think not Rinny,"

The door opened and Rin turned to face the direction of the door. "Shit," She panicked, pushing Soul harder. "Off,"

Soul was just about to get up, supporting himself with his elbows, when Mary walked into the living room.

"Oh," She said when she noticed Soul. Rin blushed and Soul made a pained noise before falling back on her legs. "Hello,"

"Hey," Soul said, arm in the air waving. Rin blushed harder and glared at Soul's smug face. "Are you Rin's mom, Mary?"

"Yeah," Mary continued to stare at the unfamiliar boy resting on her daughter's legs, "Why are you lying on my daughter? Who are you, and what is your name?"

"Soul, and I am in pain," Mary raised an eyebrow at her daughter.

"He fell on the cement," She answered placing her hand on Soul's mouth before he could say anything.

"That's one way to put it," Soul muttered against her hand. Marry just nodded, speechless.

"Well, um, you should probably get that young man home,"

"Yes ma'am," Mary left the room with a confused look on her face.

"Get up Soul; we have to get you home,"

"Kay,"

Soul and Rin got to the beach a bit after noon. The teens got some burgers and after they finished that, they enjoyed some ice cream.

"You're a senior now," Rin commented, leaning against the wall of the snack bar behind her. "Do you feel more powerful?"

"No, but I feel a bit more stressed,"

Rin nodded. "Understandable,"

"Powerful?"

Shoving what was left of her cone into her mouth, Rin shrugged out of her shirt. "I hate bikinis," She said, shoving her shirt into the bag, along with her shorts.

"Then why are you wearing one?"

"My mom heard that you were taking me to the beach, assumed you were my boyfriend, or that you were a love interest, and then took all of my one pieces."

Soul chuckled, eating more of his ice cream, "Seriously?"

"Yeah, I think that she's trying to make up for the ten or so years that she was gone."

"You know, you could have just told her that you burned easy or something. I'm sure that she would be too concerned or something and given you the one piece back,"

"Maybe," Rin sighed. "I wish Elliot could have come, he loves the beach."

"Maybe next time," Soul suggested.

"How would you get us here?"

"Maybe when Wes comes by he can drive us,"

"Wes is your brother right?"

"Yup,"

There was a slight pause in which Soul ate more of the cone that used to house the ice cream. "Well, we might as well get into the water. That is why we came here after all right?" Soul nodded and the two walked around the corner towards the beach.

"I need to go to the bathroom," Rin said, standing on the towel.

"Don't bleed everywhere,"

"You're never going to let that go are you?"

"Well it was our second fateful meeting in person,"

"Oh, ha ha Soul," Rin put her flip flops on before walking towards the bathrooms. "Be back shortly," Rin said with a wave.

A couple minutes later, Rin was washing her hands in the sink. She looked at her reflection and sighed at her messy hair. The waves of the ocean had done a great job of knotting it and messing it up. She brushed her fingers through her hair, deciding to leave it out so that it would dry faster.

Exiting the bathrooms, she started to make her way back over to the beach but was stopped short by a man. He seemed well built, about college age and had a confident air about him.

"Hey," He said. Rin looked up at him with a glare.

"Can I help you?" she asked, crossing her arms across her chest where the man's eyes seemed to be glued to.

"Definitely," He said with a smirk. Rin rolled her eyes and started to walk away. The man chased after her. "Where are you going?" He asked.

"Not with you," She retorted.

"Come on, I'm sure a pretty one like you could put aside a bit of time-"

"I have a boyfriend," Rin said suddenly, when she caught sight of Soul where she left him on the towel.

"He doesn't have to know,"

"You disgust me,"

"Don't be like that,"

Rin jogged up to the towel and Soul at up upon seeing her arrival. "Hey, how wa-" He was cut off when Rin practically launched herself on him, kissing him full on the lips.

"Hey honey," Rin said, arms still around his neck. "Play along," Rin mouthed. Soul blushed at the position they were in. Rin was straddling him, sitting on his lap, and his arms were on her hips because he thought she was falling and made to catch her.

"Hey," He said with a smirk, recovering from shock. Soul looked up at the man watching them with jealous eyes. "Can we help you?"

"Can I borrow your girl for a bit?" Soul glared at the man, his eyes narrowing.

"You're such a shameless man. You do realize that girls aren't play things right?"

The man scoffed, "If not for sex, what else are girls good for?"

Rin felt Soul shift under her, and sent him a warning look. "Leave," He warned.

"Fine," The man said, with a huff. He held out a piece of paper and placed it on Rin's leg. "Call me anytime soon, babe," He then left. Rin picked up the piece of paper, and it flew out of her hand as the wind blew.

"Oops," she said with a shrug. She looked at Soul who was still staring in the direction of where the man went. "Have you calmed down yet?" She said, placing her hands on his shoulders.

"You want me to be honest?" She nodded. "No," Rin sighed. "I hate asses like him,"

"I could tell," Rin blushed realizing that she was still straddling Soul. "Are you going to let me go?"

"No, there may be more asses out there," He made eye-contact with the violet eyed girl. "I won't let any asses hurt made friends,"

"That's really nice, but we're getting weird looks. How about we just lay next to each other, or something,"

"Okay," The two teens lied down on the blanket and were silent for a couple moments. "Sorry if that was awkward,"

"I'm the one who jumped on you. Thanks for playing along,"

"I haven't done something like that in a long time,"

"And probably aren't going to do that in a while,"

Soul turned on his side and rested his head in his palm, elbow holding him up. "Don't be like that honey,"

"Oh, shut up,"

Kid and Maka watched the two teens from their hiding place behind the trees and bushes, "What the hell was that?!" Maka exclaimed.

I made a long chapter. Yay! It took me about ten minutes to figure out how to spell "definitely" correctly. I don't know if I should be writing this... Thanks for reading this and sorry about any spelling and grammar mistakes. Also, sorry if Soul seemed a bit too perverse... I wrote most of this really late at night last night.
