Chapter 25

The house was in complete chaos due to everyone running around the house, getting ready for the masters of the house to arrive. Kairi and Sora called all their friends to help out because the house was far too big for only three people to clean. Riku and Yuffie were in charge of cleaning the bathrooms, Roxas and Naminé cleaned out the living room and the entertainment room. Terra and Aqua ensured that the driveway was up to maintenance: they checked if all the lights in the driveway were working and if the fountain had any problems. Hayner, Pence and Olette cleaned all the rooms in the house, so it was 3 rooms each. Sora, Xion and Kairi jumped into the kitchen and prepared finger foods as well as refreshing beverages. They also cleaned up after themselves and ensured that the whole house smelled amazing.

"Man, this place is so big. I'm surprised that no one gets lost in here." Riku complained.

"Imagine what a mission it would be only to get a glass of water in the night." Yuffie commented.

"I wonder why dad decided to come home after all this time, he rarely takes vacations." Kairi muttered to herself.

"Maybe it is something important. Or maybe it's just because he misses you." Xion guessed.

"I hope it's the second option, because if it is "work important" then even I will be pissed." Sora exclaimed while cleaning the stove.

"Oh crap! I need to take a shower before they arrive." Kairi threw her hands up and gripped her head.

"Then go, we got this." said Xion.

Kairi rushed upstairs to her room and locked the door behind her. She threw her clothes down on the ground and into the shower.

Thirty minutes later, Kairi showed up, well dressed but not too much with make-up. Probably her best time yet.

Everyone was finally finished and gathered at the front door. Kairi, Sora and Xion thanked everyone and had the limo driver take them all home. Sora ran through the entire house making sure that everything was perfect. Xion made sure that all the snacks and beverages were in order and Kairi was practicing her approach.

She had not seen her father in over five years, she was really mad at him but she was also happy he was finally coming home.

Finally the hour arrived and the limo came strolling through the driveway. After dropping off the gang, the limo driver went to pick up the masters from the airport.

The limo parked in front of the giant door with the driver jumping out to open the door for the masters. Appearing from the shadow was Kairi's mother, Larxine. Right behind the woman, also getting out of the car, was a tall man with long red hair and green eyes like Kairi's. He grabbed Larxine's hand and helped her up the stairs like a gentlemen. Sora opened the large doors to welcome the masters back home.

"Welcome home, Miss Larxine. I hope you had a fine trip." Sora was on his best behavior; after all, he is a butler.

"It's good to see you as well, Sora. You have done a fine job at keeping the house from falling apart." Larxine gently smiled at Sora.

"Oh yes, you two haven't yet met. Sora, this is my husband, Axel." Larxine introduced.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, sir." Sora held out his hand to greet the man of the house, yet the reaction he received wasn't really what he had in mind.

Axel moved really close to Sora, practically so close that Sora could almost count the amount of hair he had on his eyebrows. Axel was examining the young man in front of him, for what reason, no one knew.

In a flash, Axel grabbed Sora's hand and threw a big smile on his face. He seemed happy with his examination.

"Yup, you're one fine ass guy I tell ya, nice to meet you Sora. You can just call me Axel, none of this sir stuff. It makes me feel old." Axel let go of Sora and gave him a huge pat on the back.

"Man it's been so long since I've been home. Five years, can you believe it? Kairi is probably really mad at me. What do you think, Sora?"

"Oh, uhm, well…to be honest, I'm not really sure. It's kind of like she is trapped between happy and mad. Last time I saw her she seemed conflicted."

"Honest man, I like it. We should have hired you years ago. Man the other butlers we had were really out of it. No spirit at all."

Axel entered the house waiting for a moody Kairi to appear. Kairi revealed herself when she walked around the corner, still conflicted about what to do.

Axel stood there in silence for a while, observing his daughter. She had grown up since the last time they saw each other.

"Hi, my angle." Axel spoke.

"D-d-d…" Kairi couldn't get her words across; instead she ran up to her father and embraced him in a giant hug.

"DAAAAAD." Kairi started to cry in his arm, happy to see that he wasn't just a phantom but was actually still in her life.

"I'm so sorry, Kairi. I left you all alone for so long. Can you ever forgive me?" Kairi was sobbing like crazy, crying so much that she couldn't speak, but the pressure of her hug said it all.

After Sora had taken their luggage to the room, he offered the weary travelers some refreshments. They all agreed and settled down in the living room. Sora brought the snacks and beverages to them on a tray with Xion helping him.

"So this is the new woman in the house. Nice to meet you." Axel greeted Xion with a wide smile on his lips.

"It is good to meet you as well, sir." Xion greeted back.

"Please, just call me axel. I'm not so old that I'm a "sir"." Xion kind of cringed at the response; she was a bit weirded out by Axel's unique personal.

"I hate to ask but will you give us some time; we have something urgent to discus. Sora, you need to hear this as well."

"Of course." Xion quickly walked out of the room and back into the kitchen, out of sight.

"What's the matter, dad?" Kairi asked.

"Look, I'm not sure how you're gonna take this but, it's really important." Kairi and Sora had a bad feeling about what was going to happen.

"Sora, when we are done talking, I'm going to need you to prepare the guest bedroom. We are having guests over."

"Who are these "guests"? Are they work related?" Kairi asked.

"Well, yes and no. they are people I work with but also some friends of ours. But most importantly…" Axel paused for a moment.

Kairi hated moments that included a dramatic pause.

"These people are your future in-laws." Kairi's face was frozen.

"Huh?"
