Amaya didn't hear when Xanxus laughed at Squalo's death. She just kept watching the screen waiting for the swordsman to emerge from the water with a shark head in his hand but the longer she watched it the more it began to sink in that it was not going to happen. Her eyes swiped over to Yamamoto who was slumping on the rock that Squalo had threw him to, knowing him he was feeling guilty and blamed himself for what happened. When he left the arena, she was going to console him but right now she needed to compose herself.

"The battle for the rain ring had ended with Yamamoto Takeshi's victory." Dress spoke from behind Amaya as the blonde woman stood back up and rolled her shoulders. She turned her head to the rest of the Vongola who looked equally as shocked and depressed as Yamamoto did. Even Dino was looking down trodden at the loss of a friend.

"We will announce the participants of the next match," Shorts began, looking towards Amaya who walked past the Cervello to return to her Family. "The battle to be held tomorrow night will feature...Mist." Of course, it would be Mist, a guardian who nobody knew. Tsuna turned to Amaya expecting her to start yelling frantically at them for being stupid enough not to know the Mist guardian but she didn't. The blonde woman remained staring at the arena along with her blonde Italian comrade.

Amaya watched the building until she saw movement from the top window. It had been transformed into a door and swung open to reveal a shocked looking Yamamoto. She didn't hesitate and immediately ran up the flight of stairs that had been conveniently placed at the side, not stopping until she literally ran into the young man. He didn't flinch when she wrapped her arms around him and quickly reciprocated, his head leaning into her shoulder where it started to grow wet from tears.

"It wasn't your fault." She repeated over and over in a calm, hushed voice. She knew what he would be thinking before he even told her. "I'm going to fix this, I swear." She told him while pulling him closer. He almost crushed her ribs with the strength that he was hugging her but she didn't care. At this moment he needed comfort and she would give it to him no matter the cost. After a few minutes the teenager lifted his head up to look at her, his brown eyes were blood shot and puffy from crying, his mouth dropped low but she couldn't have him looking like that in front of the Varia. Slowly, she lifted her hands to his face and wiped away the tears from under his eyes with a small smile.

"I won." Yamamoto said solemly, almost ironically. She chuckled at him, trying to put on a brave face before looking back down the stairs to the Vongola who were waiting to see their companion. The Varia had already disappeared to who knows where which was quite advantageous.

"I'm very proud of you," Amaya told him, bringing him in for one last hug before motioning to the others with her bandaged hand. "Go and see the others, they'll make sure you get back safe." She said to him. He looked at her quizzically wondering why she wasn't going to join him but then remembered her earlier words. She was going to fix this, somehow.

The blonde Japanese woman watched as one of her boys descended the stair to join the group of her other boys. They looked joyful and spoke for a few seconds before Reborn looked to her, sensing she wanted them gone he quickly came up with an excuse to leave and within minutes the only occupants in the school was Amaya and Dino. The Italian ran up the stairs to meet her, even ran past her till he was on the roof.

"I've already called for a dive team and medical helicopter," He informed Amaya with urgency just as black SUV's pulled up in the school grounds. Several men in black suits exited the vehicles and joined Dino and Amaya on the roof.

"Boss," An old man with a moustache turned to Dino who was standing next to Amaya. "The dive team is going to be 20 minutes; the helicopter is on its way." The man told Dino to which the Boss nodded with a small scowl.

"20 minutes!" Amaya exploded, her eyes blown to an abnormal size. "If he isn't dead already then he soon will be." She ran her fingers through her hair before placing her hands around her wrists, cuffing them nervously. Her purple eyes looked towards Dino's men who were using power tools to cut holes in the ceiling of the building, presumably for the dive team. Two of the holes were already done.

"He's just going to have to wait Amaya," Dino told her before turning away from her, speaking to some of his men about the outcome of the battles. Amaya continued to stare at the holes and the water that lurked underneath, lapping at the edges of the hole as if begging to be let out. There was an opening right there, why didn't people just go in now? They were wasting too much time waiting for a dive team when a few of Dino's men could have already been searching for the white-haired swordsman. Don't leave a man to do a woman's job.

Amaya made the decision and she was going to stick to it. Eyes trained on the closest hole to her, she bent down and unzipped her boots as subtly as she could before stepping out of them. Was she crazy? Almost definitely. Was she going to get eaten? Maybe. She hoped that the shark might have had its fill of blood but just in case she took her belt off and wrapped it around her hand, over the bandage so that the pointy end was sticking out. If anything, she could poke it in the eye. The last thing for her to do was to take off her blue flannel, the cold around her almost made her put it back on but she knew when she got out of the water she would be freezing and in need of dry clothes. Amaya finally tore her eyes away from the hole long enough to see Dino, he felt himself being watched and lifted his head towards her.

"Amaya no!" Dino yelled at her once he figured out what she was doing but it was already too late. Amaya ran to the hole and dove in head first, blonde hair hitting the freezing water before the rest of her body was engulfed. Dino tried to jump in after her but was restrained by his men. "Let me go." He demanded but his men refused to let their Boss jump into shark infested waters. Amaya was on her own.

The water pierced her skin like knives as Amaya continued to swim deeper into the building. She was a pretty good swimmer, during the summers her family would vacation to different islands and coastal regions so she had gotten to be a strong swimmer. Thankfully there was no current in the building so she was able to descend pretty quickly without anything obstructing her other than the layout. There were lights illuminating the water world allowing her to spot what looked like an air pocket a few feet away. It was a good thing to as her lungs had begun to scream at her for air. Within a few kicks she was under the pocket and came up for air. A gasp filled the air, followed by a succession of smaller gasps as Amaya fed her lungs with the air they had been craving.

She was one floor away from the bottom now, she hadn't seen any sign of Squalo or the shark so she presumed they were at the very bottom of the building. Amaya moved some of the hair from her face, looking down to the water below and seeing a gap in the rock she could get through to the bottom section. She dived again, turning her body quickly so she could use the walls to kick off of, giving her more power to get to the bottom quicker. Once she swam through the gap, she span her head all around her becoming frantic as she didn't find anything until she saw a lock of white hair floating about 7 feet to her right.

Adrenaline took over in that moment. Using most of her strength, she reached Squalo quickly and almost choked on the water around her when she saw what state he was in. There was a huge bite mark in his right side that was still leaking blood, she thought she could see some of his intestine peeking out of the wound but thankfully the organ still looked intact. She reached her hand up to his neck and pressed two fingers against it, hoping that there was still a pulse. A few seconds later, an artery pumped against her fingers. He was still alive.

Amaya worked quickly, minding the sword she placed Squalo's arms around her shoulder so that he was draped over he back and she slowly made her way across the first floor to the gap she had come through. The added weight was proving to be quite difficult, especially as she swam up though the gap and to the air pocket where she breached with another heavy gasp.

"Squalo can you hear me!" She shouted to the swordsman through loud gasps. Her chest heaved as she waited for a reply but there wasn't any. "Just take a few breaths before we go back under." She told him, turning her head so that she was facing him. His eyes were closed and he looked peaceful, one might even say serene. Her eyes memorised his features intently, sharp jawline and long eyelashes, he would make any woman fall to her knees before him. "You've got to work with me, okay?" She pleaded his unconscious form even though she knew he couldn't hear her. Once her lungs were satisfied, Amaya submerged herself and the unconscious swordsman back into the water and swam over to the gap that would take her to the final level. She was going to need to get up there fast, the amount of weight she was carrying made her need more air. She powered through, placed her arms either side of the gap and used her strength to push them up to the final floor.

That's when she saw it. The great white shark was circling the hole that she had entered, black eyes scanning over the surrounding area still. This was not the time to die. She had carried Squalo's body this far and she was determined to get him out of the building before he died. It was astounding he was still alive really, not only was he under water but he also had a gaping wound in his side. The man sure was stubborn but luckily, so was she. She swam closer to the shark so that it's attention would turn to the humans in its habitat. Suddenly the shark hurled itself towards the two at top speed, thinking fast Amaya grabbed Squalo's sword arm and lifted it so that it would collide with the shark. As it swam past, the sword pierced the animal's side and drew a long like from its nose to the end of its gills. Amaya saw her chance and swam with the last bit of her strength to the hole which she lifted her head through with a cry.

"Amaya!" Dino shouted, running to the hole and falling to his knees to help get the woman out. He had doubts she would return, if she did, he really didn't expect her to be carrying Squalo on her back.

"Take him quick!" She screeched at Dino who gladly obliged her and lifted the heavy man out of the water so that Amaya could climb out by herself. Once the woman was safe on the roof she flipped onto her back and began coughing up the water that had got into her lungs. Dino was back at her side, pulling the woman up by her arm so that he could pat her back and help with the water. "No, I'm fine make sure he-."

"Amaya stop!" Dino scolded her before taking his jacket off and placing it around the wet woman. "He's being loaded up onto the helicopter, come on." He all but dragged Amaya to her feet and acted as her personal prop as she leaned on him all the way to the helicopter. Once she was at the entrance, Dino handed her to one of his men who helped to seat her before Dino got on himself and sat next to her. "You're freezing." He commented while finding blankets to place on her.

"Thanks." Amaya whispered back before a towel was placed over her head. Amaya held the towel to her before wiping her face free of water and gently patting down her hair. Squalo was loaded not long after, placed in the middle of the helicopter between where Amaya and Dino were sitting and the seats on the other side that were occupied by some of Dino's men.

"You're the most idiotic woman I know." Dino told her, wrapping an arm around her shoulder to help get her warm. Amaya didn't argue, just nodded her head as she looked to the moustached man who was already trying to fix Squalo up a little bit.

"Is he going to be okay?" Amaya asked the inhabitants of the helicopter. It was the moustached man who turned to her.

"He'll need emergency surgery, his appendix has ruptured but he should be able to live without them, Miss Tokodome." He ended with her surname in a polite manner that confused Amaya enough to look at Dino for an explanation.

"Amaya I'd like you to meet my right-hand man, Romario." Dino introduced them and in any other situation Amaya would have extended a hand to him but her limbs were currently buried under a mound of blankets. Instead she nodded her head at the older man who smiled and nodded back.

It wasn't long before the helicopter took off towards the hospital where Amaya had presumed Dino had hired private care takers. It would be counterproductive to have Squalo handled by regular medics. As soon as the man woke up, he would more than likely try to kill those that had helped him so to have ordinary people waiting by his bed to aid would only end in innocent blood being spilled. Hopefully when he did wake up, he wouldn't feel vengeful towards Amaya, perhaps now he would give her warning before he killed her as a way of showing his gratitiude...Yeah that would never happen.
