A/N:

Hey, sorry I didn't update last week! I don't have a tv in my dorm room, so it's been hard to keep up with the show :/ But I loved the last episode - Emma's character development is really interesting! I hope we get to uncover the secrets of her relationship with the Snow Queen soon.

Come, Love, Take My Hand

On and on we go, come, love, take my hand

On and on we go, time and time again

On and on we go, back to where it all began

Come, love, take my hand

In a fleeting moment, it felt like everything Killian was working towards fell away. As her hand slipped through his, he felt the building blocks he and Emma had spent so long forming and strengthening were suddenly crumbling into nothing. She was pulling away again, literally and metaphorically. And as she slammed the door of her yellow bug, Killian felt the connection linking both of them snap.

It had all happened so fast, Killian barely had time to process it. He and the rest of the gang had heard a loud commotion from the back of the Sheriff's Station. When they rounded the corner, they saw Emma staggering out of a massive hole in the wall. She was obviously distracted, and when they got closer, she panicked and tried to keep them at bay. With wide eyes and in an urgent tone, she tried to tell them that she was the cause of the decimated wall, and that she didn't want them coming near her.

He had attempted to approach her, to tell her everything was all right, but she got frightened and lashed out. The lampposts behind them sparked, and a street light tumbled toward them. Kilian's eyes were so fixed on his distressed princess that he didn't see his position beneath the light post.

David dove to push him out of the way, but was hit on the shoulder. Killian could see that he was relatively unscathed, but the man's wife and daughter instinctively lunged forward. Mary-Margaret uttered an accusatory exclamation, and that was all it took for Emma to run.

Killian played the scenario over and over in his mind as he ambled down the streets of Storybrooke. Could he have said something to calm her? Was he wrong in trying to go to her? If he had stayed back like she asked, would that entire fiasco have happened?

He shook his head when he realized that the answer to all those questions was 'no.' She was already gone when they reached her. Whatever the Snow Queen said to her was clearly traumatizing. But if Killian knew Emma as well as he thought he did, he knew she would be back. Reason would prevail over fear, and she would remember how much she was loved. And when she came back, he would prove to her why she would never have to run again.
