thanks for the review 26Naruto26 I'm glad you enjoyed the last chapter I agree that it is tempting to make Ash more powerful straight away the Ash in my story is a much stronger trainer than the one in anime at this point but I think that is more due too being older and thinking things through there is more with Ritchie in this chapter I hope you enjoy where I take him as for Kara she is going to become more important to Ash as the story goes on there will be more Violet as well I had considered leaving her out of the story till perhaps the league or when she really needed help or something but I have done so much of her story it wouldn't seem fair.
I have been debating whether Ash should own a Squirtle at some point I love the Pokemon but the original plan was to have Ash own only one of the three starters let me know what you think please thanks.
Not much if any battling in this chapter and no Ash in this one either sorry also a warning of slight Violence in this one thanks.
Now onto Chapter 25 Pokemon is owned by the Pokemon Company and Nintendo and probably many more I own nothing to do with Pokemon this is just for fun and no money is being made from this fic.
Chapter 25 Revelation and arguments
Pallet Town Evening
Delia led the shocked boy Ritchie into the living room which were now covered with various pictures of Ash's journey Delia noticed Ritchie eyeing them with a look of dislike "it's ok Ritchie I already know you hate my son" Ritchie looked up at her surprised "I'm surprised he told you about me I have humiliated him on more than one occasion" Richie smirked at the end of that sentence something Delia didn't like "yes i'm sure your pleased about beating a trainer with only a couple of weeks experience compared to your what six years of training" Delia shot back Ritchie just glared back " now Ritchie I am sympathetic as to what brings you here and you will get your answers but one nasty comment about my son and you will be asked to leave understood" Ritchie gave a grunt which Delia took for acceptance "just give me a moment to collect myself and I will tell you all I know" Delia quickly left for the kitchen.
Delia entered the Kitchen and busied herself with making lemonade forever the hostess she thought dryly to herself quickly pouring a glass of lemonade each Delia now knew that Ash would need to be told but it was something that couldn't be told on the phone she would ask him to visit her in their next conversation she picked up the drinks and headed in to the living room for what would be a long stressful conversation.
Delia entered and sat down in Ash's usual armchair when he was home and placed a drink in front of Ritchie and herself "now what would you like to know".
She asked Ritchie the young man took a moment to think "tell me about my mother first what was she like? you said she was my mother does that mean she's dead then? Why didn't you take me in if she did die I mean you are my aunt".
Ritchie said the last question with a bite of coldness at the word Delia gave a sigh "My sister Sophie was the eldest of us she had a great spirit for adventure her goal was to be the greatest trainer the world had ever seen. When she was a little girl, she would lead us on adventures playing as Pokemon trainers either to capture a rampaging Charizard or search for the mystical clefairy. Soon enough her tenth birthday came round where she eagerly chose a Charmander just like you and Ash.I of course didn't see her much from that point on as I was only seven myself I constantly had letters from her telling me of her battles and all the training she had to do and the friends she had met.
Soon she had collected the eight badges of Kanto and was back in Pallet Town with her friend Giovanni a boy also on his own journey I was so happy to see her back but she seemed different colder than before not spending as much time with me as before.
After her training the tournament soon started with it her dream was one step closer she managed the top sixteen that year a respectable position for a young trainer she wasn't happy with it though and over the next eight years would enter every year getting top sixteen each time soon she gave up on her dream releasing all her pokemon except for Charizard after a while she joined the then legal organisation of team rocket.
Back then they wern't criminals they only did tests on Pokemon wanting to better the world with their discoveries her friend Giovanni joined her and they both got closer as a result and fell in love.
I don't know for sure, but I'm sure that's your father you see at this time the letters and phone calls had stopped I only discovered this later on when it was far too late.
Anyway team Rocket soon had a change of leadership not long after you were born this new leader had the aim of ruling Kanto with only the strongest Pokemon on their side my sister was firmly against these aims and led a coup against the new leader which almost tore team rocket apart you would know this as the Rocket Revolt of 1989 a bloody event which left most of the team dead I'm sorry to say my sister was one of them.
As for Giovanni he denounced his links to team Rocket publicly and became the richest man in Kanto and Viridian City gym leader though rumours always follow him that he is still part of team rocket maybe even the leader personally I don't know the man so can't say what is true most of what I know came from one last letter my sister wrote to me and of course recent historical events.
In this letter she made no mention of you except to say you were safe where you were I meanwhile looked everywhere for you until I discovered you in your orphanage despite my pleas to take you in I was always refused for what reason I never found out".
Delia finished looking sadly at Ritchie anger welled up in him like a bomb waiting to explode he unleashed it the only person in the room poor delia.
"Than you didn't try hard enough," yelled Ritchie jumping to his feet Delia shrunk back in fear of Ritchies rage.
"I tried ppplease believe me Ritchie" pleaded Delia and bravely she tried to place a hand on his shoulder to try and calm the boy but Ritchie wasn't having any of it he pushed her arm away from his shoulder more forcefully than intended which made her arm bang painfully against the wall closest to her Delia gave a gasp of pained staring at Ritchie with tears and disbelief in her eyes.
For a moment regret shone in Ritchies face, for a brief second at least the look lasted less than a second and his face changed into a cold mask, gritting his teeth so hard it almost hurt he gasped out "You didn't try hard enough I want nothing to do with you or your pathetic son who had everything I should of had in life the nice home the loving mother and all the breaks in life I've got my answers so I am leaving now and don't try to contact me I won't answer".
Ritchie walked out of the room leaving a crying Delia cradling her wrist soon she heard the door open and slam with a bang she stayed where she was not knowing what to do eventually she got up and headed to the phone.
"Professor Oak it's Delia please can you come over I need your help and advice once more" it was only a voice message but she knew the professor wouldn't be long he would know what to do.

Sea walk next morning
Violet soon after leaving Ash called out her Fearow hopping onto Fearow's back Fearow quickly flew them to Lavender town after a quick stop to heal her Pokemon and switch her team around she quickly left heading towards the road that would take her all the way around the coast it was the longer walk of the ways available to Fuscia city but it boasted the better variety of Pokemon available and a lot of trainers seeking battle would mean ample opportunity it would also be where she would meet Ritchie to discuss the things Ash had revealed about him.
Eventually Violet had managed to find the start of the sea walk that evening so decided to camp in the grassy field that had been all she had constantly saw the last few hours.
Violet had set up camp and eventually fell asleep in a better mood than she had been in lately things were looking up and that was her last thought until waking the next morning to a beautiful sunny day not a cloud could be seen as Violet quickly packed a way her camp munching on a breakfast bar.
As she started her long walk she could see fishermen dotted about along the path many other trainers could be seen a long the path too many were already battling Violet could already tell she would have several battles that day before finally getting to the sea side restaurant a few hours a way where Ritchie in a very angry sounding voice told her he would meet her today that evening luckily it was a voice message so Violet wouldnt have to tell him off for his tone of voice which probably would of started an argument she didnt need that not when she was sure their would be one later on any way.
Violet soon passed a sign which mentioned a shop where you could buy fishing rods she would have to stop by and get a rod it was too good a chance and opportunity to catch a water Pokemon to pass up.
Violet got challenged by a fisherman not long after settling in to her walk it wasnt a long battle through as they mainly used magikarp Ivysaur soon finished them off and soon she was on her way again.
Eventually Violet reached the shop inside were mainly fishing rods of various size and value, different types of lures in different shapes of style, baits and also a special pokeball designed for water pokemon a lure ball created especially by a man called kurt all the way from jhoto.
Violet found a fishing rod that could be taken apart and put back together easily specialised for the the pokemon trainers like herself who traveled a lot she selected a yellow coloured one next she she selected five lure pokeballs despite their cost and than found a lure shaped like a staryu she took her Items to the counter and paid an older gentleman fifteen hundred poke dollars for them the gentleman suggested a good fishing spot about an hours walk away where poliwag were quite common Violet thanked the man and continued on her way.
eventually the hour pasted by Viloet thought many more trainers along the way once again fishermen who mainly battled for fun the experience was good for her Pokemon team and gave them so much needed experience eventually she found the famous spot it was famous for the three statues made in the middle of the ocean when not many know but they depict the three legendary bird Pokemon most associated with Kanto Zapdos the lightning titan, moltres the fire titan and articuno the ice titan.
Violet stopped at the spot setting up all her equipment the fishing rod was a little tricky at first but she soon got it right and after attaching the lure and hook to the line along with some bait Violet took a big step back and then a lunge forward swinging the rod and watched in happiness at the perfect cast and saw the line hit the water and sink into the sea only the lure was visible.
Only certain Pokemon could fight after being caught fishing these being mainly water Pokemon the likes of a Squirtles built on the other hand Goldeen were generally helpless when caught fishing nevertheless Violet called out her nidoran just in case and told her to use poison sting as soon as she reeled in the caught Pokemon.
Both trainer and Pokemon watched the lure patiently for about ten minutes when it happened the lure started bobbing up and down a few times on top of the water before it disappeared completely making the reel spin rapidly.
Violet grabbed the rod and reel in both hands and began reeling in and pushing her body back trying to reel in whatever pokemon it is before it got away eventually after a lot of effort and cursing on both Violet and Nidorans part the pokemon had been caught Violet could see it was a goldeen straight a way and a young tired one at that Violet stopped Nidoran from attacking tapping the Goldeen with a lure ball it didn't even shake once just signaled the click of capture both nidoran and Violet watched as the Pokemon was teleported to Professor Oaks laboratory in bright white light.
Satisfied for now with her work for today Violet picked up her fishing equipment returned nidoran to her pokeball and set of too the cafe she would meet Ritchie at.
after a few hours of walking waylaid by several easy pokemon matches against fishermen and the odd bird pokemon specialist she reached the seaside cafe it was not a very big building it was bright yellow and had a sign shaped as a magikarp with the name in blue writing Violet entered the cafe which was practically empty except for the staff and a certain boyfriend of hers and despite what she'd heard from Ash Violet was pleased to see him.
"Ritchie hi" shouted Violet sitting on the opposite side of him Ritchie looked up startled "oh its just you Violet" he mumbled Violet frowned slightly annoyed "so you wanted to talk to me Violet so go a head lets get it over with" Ritchie said staring her right in the eye it looked like he couldnt care less at being here.
"Yes Ritchie Ash told me everything" Violet replied quietly looking Ritchie in the eyes she watched as he went from not caring to a burning rage "perfect Ash Ketchum again whats he been telling you Violet" a bang went through the cafe as Ritchie furiously banged his fist against the table his face purpling leaning closer to Violet making her shake in fear.
"d d don't shout at me please Ritchie Ash told me about the battles you have had with him how you almost killed his charizard in the last battle and generally how you have treated him since you have met him I want to know if this is true" whispered Violet her voice rising as she found her courage Ritchie just snorted "if Ash can't handle defeat then he shouldn't be a pokemon trainer he didn't have to accept my challenges but he did its not my fault hes a sore loser" snarled Ritchie "did you almost kill his Charizard" demanded Violet seconds ticked by but Ritchie said nothing to deny it and as Violet gazed at the man who she had liked so much she felt disgusted with him and herself for not seeing it "thats it were through Ritchie I was raised to love all pokemon I can't be with someone who would almost kill one" Violet shouted but Ritchie shook with anger and leapt up "you think I need to sit here and take this from you you pathetic creature I have more important things on my mind than you or Ketchum by the way I only got with you to spite him and I loved every minute of manipulating both of you next time you see Ketcum tell him in our next battle to expect no mercy from me" with that Ritchie left the building ignoring the crying of a broken hearted girl.
