"Jorgen, get up before I beat you to a bloody pulp!" I heard as I started to regain my thoughts, I was still on the ground. I guess they haven't moved me. Mimir was yelling for me to get up, despite my troubles, well, I could say that he has been through a worse injury than mine. However, having Mimir up and around did put a good ambiance that he was doing fine. I slowly got up to my feet and took a deep breath.
"Where's you big scythe, your helmet, and what's that sword? Most of all how in the Gods did you get up here?"
"Gone, gone, a special sword, and came through a portal leading here and two other places. Now I see that your leg is healed?"
"Phi and Link managed to use the Snowheart scale correctly, I didn't know they had it in them. Feels good as a newborn! I suppose that you had a run in?"
"Let's hope that leg of yours doesn't act like a newborn. As for me, well I did run into a couple of people."
"Cia?"
"That and someone else."
"Who?"
"Ah…I will tell you later, how goes here?"
"Well, we are getting there, probably maybe a few more days."
"I forget that I was only gone a few hours."
"More like day, you don't sleep much don't you?" Link said after he was coming off his Loftwing.
"Welcome back." I shallowly greeted, I must have been out for hours. I did feel bit more rested, honestly, sleep was nearly meaningless. I saw mobilization among the Skyloft, I saw it was near morning. I felt thoughtless, empty, and questioning what just happened.
"Seems like you have a new blade?" Link asked
"Oh, this? I found it inside a temple." I answered.
"Looks simple, you sure it isn't a simple sword?"
"I am sure, trust me."
Link's ignorance was amiable, the Fateless blade's appearance was simple, but its power was hidden inside if I believed. He simply shrugged and Mimir looked over the blade.
"Jorgen, your arrival time is unexpectedly fast." Phi said after she floated over here.
"There you are. Took a shortcut. Don't ask how I got here because we are going to be here a while if I do."
"Right…" Mimir said
"Yeah…" Link said
"Of course…" Phi said
"Oh really…" Groose said.
"What? Be about your business! We still have a war to fight!" I yelled at them, the Hylians and Phi left us. Now I could talk about it.
"So what happened to Joiasnair?"
"Destroyed, allowed us to escape from Cia and Volga. We were ambushed in the skies, landed somewhere near the Hjornsteim Mountains."
"And that sword? Is it worth almost being captured?"
"Yes, though it's nowhere in our history, but it has great significance. This blade was never used, but it was meant to be an equal to the Master Sword and the sword Ghirahim. The sword was forged by our Three High Gods and the Three Goddesses. It is called the Fateless Blade."
"Well I don't have any knowledge on it, the myths always presumed that the Unbound Warrior fought with what he had, not a dedicated weapon for him." Mimir reasoned.
"I think, this is the true final piece that the Gods left behind for us. Ghirahim is a bastard child, Joiasnair was too advance for us, but this, and this is a weapon I can understand."
"True…"
"I don't think the blade will make us automatically win this war, but it will help us. Though there is someone else, Nayru, the Goddess herself was inside the Temple of Felruia, trapped."
"How?"
"What I determined happened. Is that Hylia convinced her sisters to seal her away. I guess she assumed to the role as the Seer of the Temple. She was released after I pulled the Blade, so I don't expect her guidance anymore. However, the obvious enemy is this demon Ganondorf, it is clear that Cia wants to revive him. The not-so obvious enemy could be very in fact a Goddess herself."
"You speak of Hylia?"
"I do, though I don't have much proof. It is something we need to keep in mind of, Princess Zelda hasn't been seen since after the siege of Hyrule Castle, it would best to hold an assumption that she is trying to revive her ancient Goddess. Don't say a word about though or we could find ourselves in deeper trouble."
"I won't, not to Hylian of course. Bolvi is smart, maybe he would know what to do."
"We will have to ask him when we return."
"If we can ask him."
"Bolvi raided for forty years, I doubt he would killed."
"I am not afraid of his safety but of his health and age."
He had a point, it did take us seven years to get here in this time. I would reckon it will take the same amount of time to get back. Fourteen years will be a long time.
"Hey…" Link came back, I hoped he did not hear our conversation.
"What?" I asked.
"How old are you? You both look pretty old, 30 or 40 maybe?"
"I am 19…no my birthday is probably already past. I am 20 at least. Mimir, what are you 17" I said and guess, Mimir nodded. I found it curious on why Link thought we looked very old.
"Wow, damn, you guys look like twice the age of Hylian?"
"Well, did you know Northmen live half as long as a Hylian. Says your kind can live to 150 years if you are unlucky enough. We Northmen tend to fizzle out in 60s and 70s because of climate and lifestyle."
"I can see why the Princess would want help you guys then, painfully short lives. Me, I am about twenty two."
"You look like you barely passed growing years."
"The Princess is 27 I heard." Mimir said.
"Seems you guys have a much longer adolescent period than we have, our lives may be short compared to yours, but have you ever seen a Hylian beat a Northmen in pure endurance and strength?" Mimir said.
"Then you guys should live longer?"
"No, we don't it seems that we hit a peak and sharp but gradual decline in physical strength, most people live to fight or physical work feel like they are a burden on the tribe of society, very few chose the path of high education or magics. So they willingly submit themselves to death."
"Wait, you guys commit suicide once you grow old, that is horrible!" Link exclaimed with open eyes and mouth. We shrugged, my Grandpa was close to doing it, though he was trying to hone his wit and magical skill.
"Some do, we honor them for their sacrifice, and others simply live on a couple more years before they die off with their name casted off into the wind, you do realize that Hylians have innate magical abilities that make them live longer, you know, our people have no such gift of magic."
"I don't get it."
"It's all about honor for us, for Hylians it is faith. Two different peoples, two different lives. Could we use magic to extend our lives? Yes, but that threatens are very cultures, we sometimes hear the call of the Ancestors and Gods, we gladly accept them for it gives us peace. But do not think we live to die, we live to the very strongest, it is how we survived the countless invasions of our lands, we focus on the next generation, the future rather than meeting the demands of today, well, and that is the ideology. I suppose Hyrule has their own type of ideology they follow. To put it succinctly, we believe in free will." I said it seemed to click Link's head, he still looked confused, but it made sense to him.
"That makes me envious of my own society. Do Hylians ever go North?" Link asked.
"Rarely these days with the hostilities, but some do come into the more lenient tribes." Mimir said.
"Well, on to other things, have you figured out how are we going to ship an entire army down to the Surface? To the Sealed Grounds?"
"Yes, you see my Loftwing isn't the only Loftwing here, there are smaller ones that have masters. Also we've been making these chutes that people can wear and just jump off the side and have them slow down once they get close to the ground. With a combined effort we should be able to get to Sealed Grounds by today!"
"Seriously! I thought it would take days for them to rest!" Mimir reacted.
"We can't allow Ghirahim or Volga to tamper with Gate of Time, or with that matter of fact the Imprisoned. So this is just going have to work." Link retorted
"Imprisoned? What is that?" I said.
"It is the cursed form of Demise, The Demon King. The Goddess sealed him with the Sealed Grounds, giving its name." Phi butted in on our conversation.
"So I guess that's not good either. I can see why we need to get a move on." Mimir said.
"That could be a very terrible ally that Volga and Ghirahim could have." I added. Phi had a sublimal message of fear.
"It did reach Skyloft, but in a ploy, Volga and Cia defeated it to gain the trust of Ghirahim."
"We better get going down the surface, Jorgen and Mimir. Since I see you lost your bird, you'll have to go down a Loftwing."
"There isn't enough gold enough the Five Tribes to make me ride that hulking beast of bird." Mimir rejected.
"So you want to fly on sheet of cloth?" Link poised the dilemma.
"Of course I know what you are talking about. It's a parachute, often call a sailcloth in Hylian. Loftwing…please, we'll sky dive. Be faster too." I said. Link shook his head in disbelief.
"Well, that means you'll be needing these. You see that contingent of Hylians and Gorons over there, that's is where they are departing. I'll meet you down there." Link and Phi handed these parachutes, they were crude, however, I could probably make mine and Mimir's safer. Instead of gripping on to the chute some clothe and wire attached to the chute and have a harness to carry the body would much, much more safer. I told Mimir of my designs, he approved. So went across the town, picking up cloth and leather from the dead bodies of Moblins. I made my adjustments and help Mimir's with his. While never seen anyone parachuting in the North, it was simple logic that you don't hold on to the chute, it could rip out of your hands. It appeared some of the Gorons applied the harness technique as well. Even some Hylians. I saw those massive birds fly towards the Skyloft, cawing loudly throughout the air. One by one they started to head towards their masters, with Link's being head and center. Landing next to him. Our group began to move forward. I guess we were starting. We marched forward, everyone had fear in their eyes, even some of the Gorons. What I went through nothing could have been worse. We headed for the edge, we were the second row, and the front row stopped inches from the edge. The wind blew gently reminding us of the height. We heard the flapping of the Loftwings taking off.
"All right, jump on my mark, five, four, three, two, one…and mark!" A officer said and the first row jumped into the nearly endless sky. We then jumped off, I had little fear, but the wind was brutal. I could hear screaming of Hylians and even Gorons as they fell inadequately, they were spinning and unsteady. I and Mimir and most others were steady and pointing straight down. All of us had our harness technique. We would deploy by cutting a wire which would open up the chute. We all fell the same speed, relatively, even the large Gorons were not faster than us, even though they were heavier. We zoomed through the cloud layer, and revealed a large area with a temple and hole dominating the landscape. I took my sword and cut my wire, and felt the tug of the chute opening. I saw Mimir open is and many others, above us and below us. However, there were some that lost grip of the parachute and plummeted, others were tied up, and other chutes simply tore off. I landed off by rim of the crater. Mimir was far off. Then I saw the Loftwings bolting down, with Link's large one leading them down, there force was in the few dozens. A majority of the army parachuted down. I cut my chute from my body. Link landed on the south side with a majority of people landed. Mimir and few were northwest from here. I could hear the distant sounds of growling and guttural language being spoke. It appeared that we were not alone.
Extremely sorry for the LONG delay and the much shorter chapter, I didn't expect a couple of hours removed from my day could had such effect. I am in college right now, but it seems like I have been adjusting. For the story however, I plan to make it this size, it will be much more manageable, and I also pledge myself to get at least one chapter out a week, that shouldn't be too difficult! I'll plan to release every Sunday, that seems to my free day.
I thank you for patience for those that have been waiting, and thanks to ones who have read up to here!
