Hello, my lovely readers. I know it feels like forever since I updated this story when I was updating twice a week and then school and life came along and threw everything off kilter. So, I'm going to try to go through requests and see what I have yet to fill out. Then if everyone who is still reading can tell me about comps they would like to see played and more HOHs, POVs, etc, I can try to start updating this fic twice a week again until there is a winner. And remember to tell me who you want to see gone from the story after you're done. On with the show…
Chapter 24: Part III: And the Power of Veto is…
The prom competition took three days to complete and by the time it was over even Caroline was relieved to see the end of the clues. Now, she was getting ready to play against her own teammates for the POV. She was both excited and worried about what kind of comp it would be. After all, they could give them something that Klaus and Rebekah would excel at while Caroline would be left in the dust. Jeremy would be the only one of the three who would possibly beat them with his Hunter's abilities.
Looking at Klaus, Caroline felt irritated when he smirked at her. Just because they were working as a team against the rest of the house did not mean that she suddenly gave up her desire to be the best at everything that she did. And, she really wanted to win this stupid POV so that she could make up her mind about what to do with it. What if the guys decided to gang up on the ladies of the house and start throwing them out one by one? That would be a nightmare and something she could totally see Klaus, Damon and Kol pulling.
Shaking her head, Caroline refocused her attention on the upcoming competition. Now, that Elena was gone and there were three women on the block, Caroline had to find a way to ensure that Bonnie and Rebekah stuck around for the final four. Smiling, she relaxed as she began to makes plans of how to ensure that that happened. After she received the POV, she would make sure that a male player would be backdoored. Possibly Elijah or Damon. Kol wasn't off limits either. Then again, maybe Kat would double cross her and side with the men. Then she would need to be taken out.
Klaus wondered what exactly was going on in Caroline's mind. She was being rather quiet and that was never a good sign. He decided that once this comp was over that he would take her aside and have a chat. It was never good when someone you were working with began to shut you out because that meant that they plotting against you. But surely Caroline would not do that. At least not yet. They had only been married recently. It should take at least a year before she began to act like a true Mikaelson and the backstabbing started.
Then again, Klaus had wanted to be with Caroline because he knew that she was tough under her sweet exterior. She could head an army into a bloody battle if she had to. Of this, Klaus was certain. Of course, she would wait until she felt there was no other choice. But maybe that was how she felt now. Perhaps she was already having misgivings about being with Klaus or maybe she did not trust him to protect her. Either way, Klaus knew that his safety was in his hands, and his alone. Therefore, he had to win the blasted POV to ensure that no one double crossed him. Then he could use it against whoever he helped next week.
Rebekah was worried. She was beginning to hate this game with a passion. The only good part of it was Jeremy Gilbert. He was kind and good. He treated her with respect. She trusted him implicitly and hoped to be in the final four with him. However, there was not a single other person in this house that she trusted, most especially Nik and his new bride.
Examining both her brother and Caroline through narrowed eyes, Rebekah suspected that they would tear everyone else apart before they would attack one another. However, you never knew for sure. Niklaus' paranoia had been so much a part of him for so long that Rebekah was sure that even though he cared for Caroline that even his feelings would not be enough to stop him from turning on her. 'Welcome to the family,' Rebekah thought bitterly.
Jeremy was nervous. It wasn't because he was afraid of being backdoored. It was because he could feel those old tingly feelings from being a Hunter coming to the surface again. He hadn't felt this way in some time but suddenly there they were again. Looking at Rebekah, all he saw was a blood sucking demon and he had to stop himself from lunging at her. Maybe he needed to get the hell out of here before he hurt someone. At least Elena was safe. Although if he went home, she wouldn't be. Bonnie used to anchor him, but now they were split up and he was dating a vampire. This was not a good thing.
Damon just wished that they would vote him the hell out of here. He hated most of these people except for Ric, Jenna, Sage, Jeremy sometimes, Sexy Bex a tiny bit, Bonnie although he barely tolerated the little witch, Elijah had his moments and Caroline wasn't quite as bad as he had thought. Oh, yeah, and baby bro, Stefy, the other love of his life, which if anyone made him admit it, he would make them eat their own feet. "Whatever, just get the damned torture over with already," he yelled at the four walls.
"Hello, to you, too, Damon," Julie called and Damon crossed his arms over his chest. "During the third part of the competition you will be entering our Big Brother Haunted House blindfolded. You will need to find at least two of five masks and take them outside where the other houseguests will tell you if you selected the correct one. If you select the wrong mask during your five minutes in the house then you will be out. Are you ready to play 'Get Your Face On?"
"This is stupid," Damon muttered.
"The first mask that you will be trying to find is Michael Myers," Julie announced.
Pulling on a blindfold, Rebekah had no idea who Michael Myers was "Who?" Rebekah questioned the hostess but she was gone. "Fool," Rebekah muttered as she walked into the house and immediately felt something run into her. "Why don't you watch where you are going?" she snapped but in response she heard whoever it was panting and making licking noises. "Whoever you are, you're not funny," Rebekah snarled when she felt whoever it was place something sharp under her neck. "Bloody hell!" Rebekah cried, shoving the thing away and running, screaming. "NIK! Jeremy! Help me!"
'When the scary people get scared…' Caroline was thinking when she entered the house to find that she was stepping in something wet that smelled familiar. 'Copper. No. Wet and sticky. Oh, no!' Caroline thought as she felt around and then her hands were moving over someone. Not Klaus, Damon, Jeremy and definitely not Rebekah. Whoever was in this house with them was big. 'Oh, no,' Caroline thought when whoever it was grabbed her by the throat. She could only flail and kick because this Halloween character was too strong. But he's not real. But she wasn't supposed to be either. Head butting the freak, she felt his grip loosen and she pulled away. Hitting the floor of the house, she rolled away and then ran blindly.
"This is so lame," Damon said as he entered the house and then some asshole ran a freakin' machete through his gut. Oh, that was not going to help his finding the stupid mask. And who in the hell would do that? "Rebekah," he groaned, wondering why in the hell the people who ran this stupid show would even allow a machete in this place as he felt whoever it was stab him again. Well, unless they chopped off his head, they weren't going to kill him. But they could kill Jeremy. Grunting, Damon tried to get to his feet when he heard someone entering the house. It sounded a whole lot like Jeremy. "Watch out, little Gilbert. Someone's got murder on their minds, and for once it's not me," Damon called.
Jeremy stepped into the house to find that Damon was warning him that someone was going to try to kill him. Instantly, his Hunter's instincts went on red alert and he could hear every little noise. Hearing Rebekah's screams for help, he went running for her when he heard something making heavy, breathing noises and he turned to fend off an attack. "Get away from him," Damon could be heard snarling. "Come and get me. I'm so much more fun to try to kill!" Then Damon groaned in pain. "Jer, go get Bex. GO!" Jeremy fled the area.
When Klaus came into the house he could head Damon crying out in pain and he could smell the vampire's blood. And there was a lot of it being spilled. "Klaus?" Damon called. "Help!" Klaus moved toward the sound of Damon and sniffed the air. There was something that stunk with the elder Salvatore and then he felt a machete pierce his gut.
"Bad move, mate," Klaus said. Grabbing the weapon, he jerked it out and then flipped it so that the handle was in his hands. Hacking the thing in half, he knelt down and ripped the mask off. "God, I love Halloween," he said as the thing disappeared and he pulled Damon to his feet. "Come on," he yelled to the others. "Let's go before they unleash the next monster."
When they exited they house, the other housemates gasped in shock. They could not believe their eyes when they saw Damon. "I'm done," Damon declared. "I don't even want the stupid POV." He sat down with Stefan and sighed.
Growling, Caroline was the first to go back inside after Klaus was declared the winner. She was not going to go down without a fight. When she heard the creepy sounds from the Saw movies and then heard her fellow teammates following her inside, she went searching for the little freak on a bike. Or whatever he might be doing this time. "Hey, Jigsaw, where are you, you freak?" she yelled and then she heard a bike horn toot. "Little son of a bitch," she snarled and then leapt on top of the creep, tearing his mask off. Walking outside, she smiled as the others came out. Klaus smirked at her.
"Klaus and Caroline are tied," Julie declared as they went in for round five.
This time Rebekah and Jeremy went in together and heard a chainsaw whirring. "Shit," Jeremy muttered.
'Which film is this from?" Rebekah whispered.
"Friday the thirteenth," Jeremy said. "This is Jason. He likes to saw kids who are together in half." Instantly, he and Rebekah stopped holding hands. "Okay, do you want to distract him and I'll go for the mask."
"I don't know. Maybe we should have Nik distract him," Rebekah whispered when someone placed a hand on her shoulder and she screamed only to hear her brother's low chuckle.
"Why don't I, so you two can take the mask?" Klaus replied. there was the sound of a muffled screaming sound and they could swear that someone was being torn apart by the saw and then silence.
"Got it," Caroline declared. "Now, if you three weren't standing around arguing, maybe you wouldn't have lost," she told them as they left the house.
After Julie announced that Caroline was in the lead, they returned to the house. "Hello, kiddies, want to play a game of hide and seek?"
"Ew," Caroline and Jeremy said.
"What?" the Originals asked.
"Freddy Krueger," their younger counterparts replied in unison.
"That's right. Welcome to my world," Freddy said and Rebekah shivered. She did not like the sound of this man as they walked through the house. When some kind of claw scratched her chest, she screamed in fear and anger. "Oh, baby, I like you already. Come to, poppa."
"I don't much like my poppa," Rebekah snapped and then punched Freddy person in the face." She heard him groan and then laugh.
"I like it rough. What about you, sweetheart?" Freddy said and then he groaned. "Wait your turn little boy," he said.
"I'm not a boy. And you won't be getting a turn either," Klaus snarled and then Freddy was gone. Walking out it was declared that Klaus was in a tie with Caroline. They returned to the house alone.
"Oh," Caroline said when she heard a snarling from behind her.
"I want for us to live together forever, my love," the monster said.
"Let me guess," Klaus said drily. "Dracula."
"Yes. Are you a hunter?" Dracula asked.
"No," Klaus replied. "I'm the better version of a vampire." Then he tore Dracula's head off. When he reached for the mask he found that there was nothing there, but there was the sound of racing footsteps.
"You snooze, you loss," Caroline taunted as she tore off her blindfold and cheered when she was declared the winner.
"Caroline, we need to know what you want to do with the POV," Julie announced.
"Jenna, I'm taking you off the block," Caroline announced and Jenna came over to hug her. "Which means that, Elijah, you're taking the hot seat." Klaus could not believe his ears. Well, here goes the backstabbing.
Whoa. Hmmm… Caroline double crossed Klaus. That's going to be interesting for her game. Do you think Klaus will forgive her and that they can move on with their game together or does Caroline really want Elijah out? And, who do you want out in the next chapter: Sage, Lexi or Elijah. Send me your vote through a review by next Saturday to save those you don't want to see gone.
