Homecoming

I woke up the next morning and wriggled out of my brother's grasp. Stretching on my way to my room, I heard a few of my bones crack around my body. With a shudder I released the tension in my muscles and sighed in content. I stopped outside Elena's room and peaked inside only to find it empty. I shrugged and went into my room to change into clothes for the day.

I made my way downstairs and walked into the kitchen, making a beeline to the coffee machine.

"Morning," I heard Ric say as I poured myself a cup of hot addiction. I took a long gulp before turning to him and sighing.

"Morning," I replied, with a smile.

"Rough sleep?"

"Nah, I went to Jeremy's room for company," I told him. He smiled at me.

"I love it when siblings can share a bed without it being weird."

"That makes it sound like you have some weird history," I smirked at him while popping some bread in the toaster.

"No, nothing like that, Alex. I was just meaning..."

"There's a hole, Ric, and you're making it bigger. Why not pack it up now, while you still have your dignity."

"Ha-ha, Alex," Ric huffed.

"You any idea where Elena is?" I asked him, buttering my toast.

"Probably at the Boarding House. Isn't that where you two usually go?"

"Was that a dig, Ric?" I asked, biting into my breakfast.

"Maybe. But its your life, who am I to judge what you do?"

"You're our legal guardian, Ric and the closest thing we have to a dad. I will always value your opinion," I told him seriously. He nodded.

"Thanks, Alex."

"Well, I'm gonna make my way over there. See whats going on," I grabbed my jacket and bag and opened the front door. "Catch you later, Ric."

I entered the Boarding House to see Elena, Damon and Stefan talking. They stopped as soon as they saw me moving towards them.

"Hey, don't go all silent on my account," I told them. "What's the buzz?"

"We're going to kill Klaus," Damon said simply.

"Again with the killing Klaus? Haven't we figured out that that's not going to happen?"

"I can make it happen," A male voice said from the hallway. I turned around to see a middle-aged man with facial hair and blue sparkling eyes make his way towards us.

"And who might you be?" I asked, already knowing the answer.

"I'm Mikael."

"Papa Original," Damon whispered.

"I've been paying attention, Damon. I know who Mikael is," I told the elder Salvatore.

"So what's the plan guys?" Elena asked.

"All right," Stefan started. "We'll say that Mikael followed Elena and Alex in here. He tried to grab Elena so he could use her as bait."

"And you, what, vervained him?" Elena asked in disbelief.

"No," Damon bit back. "Stefan, Alex and I vervained him. The guy's an original. Make it realistic."

"Okay, fine. The three of us vervained him and in the process discovered that he had a dagger," Stefan continued.

"Which he planned to use on Rebekah," I added.

"But instead, we drove it through his heart," Stefan finished.

"And what happens when he asks to see Mikael's body?" Elena asked. Damon nodded.

"Good point," Damon said. "You, my brother," Damon turned to face Stefan. "Have been compelled to do what Klaus says. So if the idea is to lure him back here and kill him, the last thing we need is you getting tripped up and tongue tied."

"Well don't look at me. I'm just in charge of getting him back here," Stefan argued.

"Klaus is smart," I told them. "If we tell him that Mikael's dead, he'll want proof."

"Then I shall be dead," Mikael piped up. We all looked to him.

"What if he wants to see in person?" Elena asked.

"Well, it means our plan is working," Mikael said. "Klaus will absolutely want to see my body. You lure him here, and I will kill him."

"With what?" Stefan asked. "Those daggers won't work on him."

"Well, I'm in the possession of a stake fashioned from the wood of the ancient white oak tree. The one that left these ashes when it burned," Mikael explained.

"Where is it?" Damon asked, edging forwards slightly.

"Not here," Mikael turned to face Damon. "Knowing its location is my insurance policy," Mikael said as he took out the dagger and a vial of ash.

"Against what?" Stefan asked.

"You leaving this is my heart," Mikael said as he dipped the tip of the blade into the ashes. "You see, a vampire can't dagger an original without dying. So...it falls to either of you," Mikael held the dagger in our direction. Elena and I looked at each other.

"You want one of us to actually dagger you?" Elena asked.

"Klaus will leave nothing to chance. Especially when it comes to trust. Now... Who's the strongest?" Mikael smirked.

"You have no idea," I said, matching his smirk and taking the dagger from him. "Sleep well old man," Whispered as I drove the dagger into his heart. The eldest original fell into a heap on the floor and I looked up at Stefan.

"Wanna give Klaus that call then?" I said. Stefan nodded and took out his phone, dialing Klaus.

"Portland is fantastic once you can get over all the whiney music and healthy-looking people," I heard Klaus say over the phone. "It's literally a breeding ground for werewolves."

"Your father's dead," Stefan said simply. I rolled my eyes.

"What did you say to me?" Klaus growled from the other end of the phone.

"Oh, my mistake. Not your actual father, and not dead," Stefan clarified. "Mikael. Daggered. What do you want me to do with the body?"

"Well, first, I want you to explain to me exactly what happened," Klaus spat. Stefan sighed and recounted our plan to the Hybrid. I heard a deep sigh on the other end of the phone.

"I want to see him. I want to see his rotting body for myself," Klaus demanded.

"Well, he's here," Stefan replied, looking at Mikael's body. "Come by whenever."

"If you are lying to me, Stefan, your compulsion will expose you. So answer with your life. Is what you're saying the truth?"

"Its true," Stefan told him. "I saw it with my own eyes."

"I want to talk to Rebekah," Klaus demanded. I held in a breath. I didn't know Rebekah was going to get involved.

"That's not a problem," Stefan said, looking over my shoulder. "She's right here," I turned round to see Rebekah standing in the hallway. She made her way over to Stefan and took the phone off him.

"Hello, Nik," Rebekah said into the phone.

"Rebekah, love. What's this I hear about Mikael's tragic run-in with a dagger?"

"It's true," Rebekah lied. "He's finally out of our lives for good. I miss you. I'm miserable here."

"Is Alex not good company?" Klaus asked.

"She's fine, but not always around," Rebekah replied.

"I'll be home soon," Klaus promised.

"Good. I'll see you then brother," She said and hung up the phone, giving it back to Stefan. "He bought it. He's coming home," Rebekah said, sadness coating her voice. She left the room and I sighed.

I decided to follow her and found her in Stefan's room, painting her nails. She was sitting at the desk and I sat gently on the bed.

"I didn't think you'd be alright with this plan," I said softly.

"At the moment, I'd rather not have anything to do with my family," She replied.

"Look, I know he lied to you but can you condone his death for that?"

"He didn't just lie to me, Alex. He betrayed me. He killed our mother and blamed it on my father. I may not love my father the way I love Nik, but Mikael would never betray us like that."

"Oh, so, driving a sword through your heart and forcing you to become the thing you hate the most is better?" I asked.

"No, but..."

"I get how hard this must be for you. I may not understand what you're going through but I know what betrayal feels like. And no matter how badly you want it. Revenge won't do anything but make you feel worse."

"What do I do?" Rebekah asked.

"You don't abandon your family, Rebekah. The way I've not abandoned you," I smiled at her and she launched herself into my arms. I laughed slightly and wrapped my arms around her.

She stood up and looked to the door. I followed her eye line and saw Mikael standing there.

"Finally," Rebekah said. "Took you long enough."

"Rebekah..." Mikael started.

"Whatever fatherly rubbish you're thinking, save it. Nothing you say matters to me," Rebekah huffed.

"I see," Mikael sighed. "Where's my dagger?" He asked.

"Elena has it," I told him.

"So you can forget your plans to use it on me," Rebekah added.

"You were never the one I was after," Mikael said.

"Nik was my family. If you were after him you were after me," Rebekah defended.

"He blinded you, Rebekah. He killed your mother," Mikael tried.

"I know what he did. And he'll pay for it with his life. But Nik was not born a killer. None of us were. You did this to us when you turned us into vampires. You destroyed our family. Not him," She said before storming out the room.

"You've got a lot of things to work on, daddio," I said.

"My family is none of your concern," Mikael hissed.

"Oh but I think it is. You see, while you were desiccating in that tomb, I was listening to your daughter. I was being a friend. Did you ever once have a conversation with your children. Just let them talk for a change?"

"That is none of your business."

"If you had been a better father, maybe they wouldn't be starving for affection. Lashing out in the only way they know how. With your anger."

"I will not have to tell me how to be a father!" Mikael yelled at me.

"And I shouldn't have to pick up the pieces of a broken family because of one man and his pride," I screamed back. "If you could just look at yourself and see what I see, then you'd know what you did was wrong. But as usual, your pride gets in the way. No wonder they left you," I hissed.

Mikael came at me in a rage, hand raised to strike. However, I was waiting for him and my power was buzzing at my fingertips. His fangs were bared and he leapt at me. I raised my hand and let my power fly out, forcing Mikael backwards through the door.

I stumbled, shocked that I was capable of that kind of power outside of my own head. The last time I had used that sort of power was when I was fighting Abaddon for control. Mikael stood up and straightened his suit.

"You are a demon. Possessed by evil," He hissed.

"Then what does that make you?" I asked, storming past him.

3rd Person POV

Elena and Damon were in Damon's room, looking over a bunch of weapons on the eldest Salvatore's bed.

"We can't trust Rebekah not to turn on us," Elena said.

"Oh, really? Because those Original vampires are usually so reliable," Damon replied, sarcasm evident in his voice.

"Bonnie was right. Rebekah may be mad at Klaus now, but he is her brother."

"Her lying, mama-killing, dagger-happy brother," Damon added. "The wolfsbane's ready,"

"There are too many things that can go wrong with this plan. Too many people who can make it go wrong," Elena said.

"To whom are you referring?" Damon asked.

"Alex for one."

"I don't think Alex is gonna do anything to ruin this plan. Don't worry," Damon told Elena.

"She can't be around if we take out Rebekah," Elena said.

"Don't worry," Damon repeated. "I'm formulating a secret contingency plan."

"Really? What is it?" Elena asked.

"Well, if I told you, then it wouldn't be secret," Damon told her. He looked over her shoulder to see Stefan entering the room.

"I need to borrow a tie," He said.

"You have your own ties," Damon told him, gritting his teeth in annoyance.

"I'm 162 years old and I'm going to a homecoming dance. I need better ties," Stefan argued.

"You could not go," Elena offered, pouring wolfsbane into a grenade.

"I'm compelled to protect you. And if I look at your track record at high school dances, its pretty tragic. My luck you'll go ahead and get yourself murdered by the homecoming queen," Stefan said. Elena sighed and started to close the grenade but Damon stopped her.

"I know how to do it," Elena snapped. "Alaric taught me."

"Elena, if this thing blows up in our face just remember only one of us heals quickly," Damon said.

"Ugh, please tell me you have a better plan than wolfsbane grenades," Stefan groaned.

"Never you mind, brother. The less you know, the better," Damon replied.

"My freedom from Klaus rests entirely upon you two executing your plan perfectly. So, excuse me if I'm a but cynical," Stefan said.

"You're the one that we should be worried about," Elena said. "If Klaus asks you one wrong question, the whole thing falls apart."

"You have no reason to worry. But if I look back at our history of epic plan failures, it's usually because one of us lets our humanity get in the way. So if I'm taking odds on how this thing goes down, it's certainly not gonna be me who screws it up. I'll see you at Homecoming. I can't wait." Stefan said before leaving his brothers room.

I was sitting in Stefan's room waiting for Rebekah to get back so we could start getting ready for the dance. I heard a creak outside the door and looked up to see Stefan standing there.

"Nice tie," I commented. He chuckled slightly like there was some inside joke I didn't get.

"Thanks."

"What's up?" I asked him.

"I think Elena and Damon are planning something against Rebekah," Stefan said.

"What? Why?" I asked.

"They don't think they can trust her not to try and save Klaus. Look, I'm telling you this so maybe you can stop whatever they plan to do."

"Thanks, Stefan," I smiled at him. He nodded and turned around to see Rebekah standing behind him. He nodded at her aswell and left.

"What was that about?" Rebekah asked.

"He wanted an opinion on the tie," I lied.

"I liked it," Rebekah said.

"Me too," I smiled. "Wanna help me into my dress?" I asked her. She nodded and zipped me up. I turned around to do the same with her dress.

"Getting a head start huh?" Elena asked from the doorway as Rebekah stood in front of the mirror.

"Embarrassing truth. This is my first high school dance," Rebekah laughed. I looked at Elena closely to see if she was hiding anything but from what I could see she wasn't.

"Ever?" Elena asked.

"I never really had time for high school before. Nik and I were always moving around. Running. Anyway, I didn't want to leave anything to chance. Have you heard anymore from him?"

"No. But I'm sure that when he does return, he'll do it with a flare," Elena said.

"And Damon and my father are all set with their plan?" Rebekah asked.

"Yes."

"Don't tell me. I don't want to know. I just want to go to the dance and leave the rest to Mikael," Rebekah said. I stood up and made my way over to her, giving her a comforting hug.

"I know its really hard. So thank you for helping us get Klaus back into town," Elena said.

"Just be careful. I've been running for 1,000 years for a reason. Mikael is not a good person. And he definitely can't be trusted. No one in my family can," Rebekah said, heart full of sorrow.

"You look amazing," Elena said. "But you're missing one thing," She pulled out the necklace Stefan gave her.

"My mother's necklace," Rebekah gasped.

"You should wear it tonight. May I?" Elena asked, gesturing to put it on her. Rebekah lifted up her hair and Elena clasped the necklace around her neck.

"Thank you," Rebekah said, looking at Elena in the mirror. I smiled and walked back over to Stefan's bed, thinking that maybe Elena was finally learning.

"I'm sorry but I can't leave anything to chance either," I heard Elena say. My eyes widened and I spun around in time to see Elena drive the dagger through Rebekah's back.

"No!" I screamed, running towards her but large hands grabbed me around the waist. I turned in their grasp to see Damon's face. Confusion spread across my features as he placed his hands over my face.

"I'm sorry, Alex," He whispered before breaking my neck.

I woke up, my neck on fire. It hurt like a bitch to get it snapped. Sitting up I saw Damon crouching next to me.

"You're awake. I thought I'd have to leave without you," He smiled.

"Why didn't you?" I asked.

"I thought you'd like to be my date," He smirked.

"You really thought I'd say yes to that after you broke my neck?" I asked him.

"Well its not the most traditional way to ask-"

"Where's Rebekah?" I asked, cutting him off.

"Safe," He replied.

"That's not a good enough answer, Damon," I told him, getting up.

"Its the only answer you'll get. Elena can't trust you to not try and help her."

"And it all goes back to Elena! What about you?" I asked. "Could you trust me?"

"Of course I could-"

"Then why didn't you tell her no when she asked you to kill me? Cause lets face it. If I wasn't possessed, I'd be dead right now."

"Elena asked me to-"

"Elena asked you to. That's what it comes down to, doesn't it. You'll do anything as long as its Elena asking you. I'm sick of this Damon. Why can't you grow a pair?"

"Alex, I didn't mean-"

"You didn't mean what? To hurt me? Kill me? Well you did both. Congratulations."

"Alex, please-"

"No. I'm done. Damon. I'm going to the dance, and you're not my date. So leave me alone."

I stormed out of the Salvatore boarding house and stopped to catch my breath. My blood was boiling and I could feel the rage swell inside of me. I checked my phone when it vibrated in my bag and saw a text from Tyler.

Change of plans.

Homecoming at mine

Be there

-Ty xxx

I smiled, grateful that I had one friend that was happy to keep in touch with me. I put my phone in my bag and made my way to the Lockwood Mansion.

By the time I arrived at the Lockwood Mansion there was a sea of people. A band was set up outside and I started to make my way through the crowd.

"ALEX!" My name was called out over the noise of the place. I looked around and saw Tyler with his hand in the air. I made my way over to him, elbowing people that wouldn't get out of my way.

"Tyler!" I shouted, wrapping him in a hug when I was close enough. He folded his arms around my waist and picked me up.

"You look beautiful, Alex," He smiled as he let me go.

"Thanks, Ty. Means a lot," I smiled back.

"It feels like forever since we last talked."

"Yeah, I guess we've both just had a lot going on right now," I nodded.

"We should just schedule a weekly meet up. No matter what's going on in our lives, we will meet at one specific place, at one specific time, just to catch up with the weeks events. What do you say?"

"I would love that Tyler. You've no idea how much I miss just chatting to you!" He smiled and we shook on out arrangement.

"Hey, Stefan. What's up?" Tyler asked over my shoulder. I turned to see Stefan standing behind me.

"Hey, Tyler. Alex. Nice party you got going on here," Stefan complimented.

"Thanks, but I'm no the one throwing it. I'm just doing what Klaus wants," Tyler replied.

"What do you mean?" I asked him.

"It's not a party, guys. Its a wake, Tyler said. I was about to reply when I heard that all too familliar British accent over the speakers. I looked up to the stage and saw Klaus talking into the microphone.

"Good evening everyone," Klaus said. "I want to thank you all for being here with me to celebrate. Its been a long time coming."

Tyler had left Stefan and I alone after Klaus had made his speech.

"Did you know Damon broke my neck?" I asked him.

"He did what?"

"Yeah. To stop me from doing anything to help Rebekah. Elena told him to do it," I sighed.

"Well that's Damon for you," Klaus said from behind me. What was with everyone appearing behind me?

"Quite the homecoming," Stefan said.

"I've been planning my father's funeral for 1,000 years. Granted, in no version of it were any of these people invited. But you get the idea," Klaus explained.

"So what now? You just stop running?" Stefan asked.

"Now I reunite my family."

"Your family. You mean the people to cart around in caskets?"

"None of that matters anymore. Mikael's gone. Bygones will be bygones," Klaus said. We all looked at the girl who passed us by wearing a crown.

"Seems the homecoming queen still walks among the living, which leaves me to believe Rebekah isn't here. Where is she?" Klaus asked.

"I have no idea. I thought she was coming with Matt," Stefan replied.

"Oh, be honest now, Stefan. Where's my sister?" Klaus asked again.

"He's being honest," I said. "He doesn't know. Elena daggered her and took her somewhere. I don't know where. I had my neck snapped before I could find out."

"Who hurt you?" Klaus demanded.

"Relax, Klaus. I'm a big girl. I can take care of them myself," I told him. He nodded.

"Well, it wouldn't be a party without the guest of honour, would it? Bring him to me," Klaus said.

"All right. Perhaps there's something in it for me? My freedom from your compulsion," Stefan bargained.

"Oh, you want your freedom? Well, once he's dead and his weapon destroyed, you'll have your freedom. It'll be my pleasure to give it back to you," Klaus smiled.

"Well, as interesting as this conversation is," Stefan said. "I've got somewhere to be," He said and left Klaus and myself.

"Well you know what they say. Two's a party," Klaus smiled at me.

3rd Person POV

"Did my daughter go to the dance?" Mikael asked, walking into the Salvatore library where Damon was pouring himself a glass of blood.

"Yep. You missed the photo op. Did you get the stake?" Damon asked, taking a swig.

"I did." Mikael nodded.

"I'm not going take your word for it. No offense to your honor and all," Damon said.

"None taken," Mikael smiled and revealed the stake from his jacket pocket.

"Fancy. May I?" Damon asked.

"It's the only weapon on this Earth that can kill an original. So I think I'll hold on to it. No offense," Mikael mocked.

"I'd offer you a drink, but Katherine tells me you're more of a vampire on the rocks kinda guy," Damon said snidely.

"Well, technically, you could still offer," Mikael rebuffed.

"Why feed on vampires? Don't tell me it's for the smooth aftertaste," Damon asked.

"I had a hand in creating vampires. But the blood lust was never my intention. Over the centuries, I learned to feed from the predator not the innocent," Mikael explained as Stefan walked into the room.

"Change in plans. Klaus is back. He's at the Lockwood's and he wants your body delivered to his doorstep," Stefan told Mikael.

"I'm afraid he's in for a colossal disappointment."

"Well, he's certainly not going to come here. I hope your plan didn't depend on that," Stefan asked.

"Didn't depend on that," Damon said.

"But you do have a plan. Right?"

"Oh, yeah. We got a plan, right? It just doesn't involve you," Damon spat. Mikael rushed towards Stefan and sunk his fangs into his throat, drinking him dry.

"Couldn't just break his neck?" Damon asked, slightly grossed out.

"It certainly occurred to me," Mikael smiled and left. Damon following slightly after.

I was sitting on the stairs outside the Lockwood mansion with Tyler and Klaus.

"My mom would seriously freak if she saw all these people here," Tyler said.

"I know his mom, that's an understatement," I agreed.

"Your mother won't be a problem," Klaus said. "I compelled her to go to church and pray for your friends."

"What are you talking about?" Tyler and I asked.

"I want you to look around. There's Bonnie. There's Elena and Matt. There's your pretty little girlfriend Caroline. Their big dance was wrecked tonight and who came through with a party? You did. What a pal. But who are all these other people here?"

"I have no idea," Tyler said, looking at the people that were inhabiting his house.

"Well, that's because I invited a few dozen friends of my own," Klaus explained.

"That's my friend Mindy. I picked her up along the way in Kansas. Did you know that there's an entire bloodline of werewolves in the heartland? There's Tony, from North Dakota, and let's not forget the Seattle contingent," Klaus said, pointing out various people.

"Hold on," Tyler stopped. "Are those people all Hybrids?"

"Well, they also love a good party. And they, like you, are sired by me. They wish to serve their master. So if anyone should so much as make a move against me, they may feel obligated to retaliate. Feel free to warn your friends," Klaus smirked. Tyler stood up.

"Where are you going?" I asked him.

"There's something I've gotta do," He said and left.

"Well that was sudden," Klaus mocked. "So where's your date?"

"I didn't bring one," I told him.

"A pretty girl like you without a date? That doesn't seem fair," Klaus purred.

"I didn't like any of the guys that offered."

"What if I had offered?" Klaus asked.

"You didn't."

"But if I had?"

"I'm not getting into theoretical babble. The fact is you didn't."

"My mistake. I'll make sure to offer next time."

"What if there isn't a next time?"

"For immortal beings like us? There is always a next time."

"Sure,"

"So, it seems that I have you to thank for Mikael's demise."

"Why do you think it was me? It could have been Elena."

"With her bony arms? No, you need strength to dagger an original."

"Elena was with me."

"But you still did it."

"What do you want Klaus?" I asked.

"Right, straight to the point then, shall I, love? Elena, you can come out of hiding. I know you're listening."

Elena stepped out from the house and Klaus stood up to face her.

"People have been after me for 1,000 years. And I am always one step ahead. So whatever it is you're thinking of trying, go for it, give it your best shot. You won't succeed."

Klaus took my had and pulled me away from my twin.

"What was that about?" I asked

"I know your friends are up to something and I want them to know, whatever they're planning, it won't work. I will not lose."

"I didn't think you would."

"Then you're smarter than those you call your friends."

"I always have been," Klaus smiled at me.

"Come, lets play a game. I dare you to beat me at beer pong."

"Oh you're so going down!" I smiled and walked with him to the ping pong table.

It wasn't much later when this girl appeared behind Klaus.

"You have a visitor," She said as Klaus lined up a shot.

"Well, tell my visitor I'm on the brink of victory here," Klaus said.

"Hey, I resent that," I said. Klaus just smiled.

"He said his name is Mikael," The girl said as Klaus threw the ball, it missed by miles.

"Then we mustn't keep him waiting. Move everyone out back. I'm going to have a chat with my dad. Tony, you know what to do," Klaus said. I walked with him to the front door. Mikael stood outside with a grin on his face.

"Hello, Niklaus," Mikael said.

"Hello, Mikael. Won't you come it? Oh, that's right. I forgot. You can't."

"Or you can come outside if you want," Mikael offered.

"Or I can watch my hybrids tear you limb from limb," Klaus suggested.

"They can't kill me."

"True, but it'll make one hell of a party game. All I have to do is rub these two fingers together and they'll pounce," Klaus said, holding up his middle finger and his thumb.

"The big bad wolf. You haven't changed. Still hiding behind your playthings like a coward. You only forget. They may be sired by you, but they're still part vampire. And they can be compelled by me," Mikael said gesturing for the girl who came to us before to come out.

She came into the light, holding Elena in her arms. Mikael took Elena from the girl and smiled.

"Come out and face me, Niklaus, or she dies," Mikael bartered.

"Go ahead. Kill her," Klaus shrugged.

"No, Klaus. He'll do it," Elena whimpered.

"If she dies this lot will be the last of your abominations," Mikael said.

"I don't need them. I just need to be rid of you."

"To what end Niklaus? So you can live forever with no one at your side? Nobody care about you anymore, boy! Who do you have other than those whose loyalty you've forced? No one. No one."

"I'm calling your bluff, father. Kill her."

"Klaus, no," I begged. "She's my sister. I've lost her too many times. I can't lose her again."

"Come outside and face me, you little coward. And I won't have to make your precious Alex lose her twin," Mikael said.

"Mikael, please. He won't do what you ask. But I beg you to let my sister go. Please," I was grasping on threads, the tears starting to fall down my face.

"My whole life you've underestimated me. If you kill her, you lose your leverage. So go ahead. Go on. Kill her. Come on old man! Kill her! Kill her!"

"Klaus, No!" I screamed as he shed a tear.

"Your impulse, Niklaus. It has and will forever be the one thing that keeps you from truly being great," Mikael said as he plunged a knife into Elena's back. Her legs buckled and she fell to the ground.

An inhumane scream tore its way through my throat. I'd always been the one to die. I've never had to watch the life slip away from my twin's eyes before. The pain that seared through my heart was agonizing. I howled once more, silently begging for this not to be real.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw Damon rush at Klaus, stake sinking into the Originals' abdomen. He screamed out in pain, our screams mixing together in the expansive mansion.

Suddenly Stefan was on top of Damon, pulling him off Klaus. The stake went sliding across the floor as Stefan held his brother down.

I looked at the stake a towards the door. Mikael was still standing there. The man who had just killed my sister. A feral growl ripped its way out of my throat as I reached for the stake and ran at Mikael. We went flying backwards and landed on the gravel outside. The stake sticking out of his heart. His body spontaneously combust and burned the stake with him.

"What the hell did you do?" Damon asked Stefan as I entered the house again, feeling the loss of my twin hit me hard.

"He earned his freedom," Klaus said. Stefan got up from atop Damon and looked at Klaus. "Thank you, my friend. You no longer have to do as I say. You are free," Klaus compelled. I blinked and both Stefan and Klaus were gone.

"What the hell was that, Alex? Our one chance to kill Klaus and you waste it on Mikael?" Damon yelled at me.

"What?! You think I wanted to screw up the plan? He killed Elena, Damon. He stabbed my sister in the back. My twin. The one person I've spent my life trying to protect. She's dead, Damon," I screamed.

"She's not dead, you idiot! That was Katherine!"

"What?"

"We used Katherine instead of Elena. She was perfect. Elena didn't have any part in this, she wasn't even here."

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"It wasn't necessary, Alex."

"Telling me my twin wasn't going to die wasn't necessary? Are you fucking kidding me? You have no idea what I've just been through, Damon. I just thought I'd lost my sister."

"You don't even get along, we could have killed Klaus! Don't you understand?"

"We don't get along because of her problems. I love her no matter what. Its obvious that you don't give two shits about my feelings, Damon."

"Come on, Alex. That's not fair."

"You know nothing of fairness. I'm done with you, Damon. I'm done with all of this," I said, storming out of the Lockwood mansion.

"What does that mean?" Damon yelled after me.

"You can come out to play now," I yelled into the sky. "I'm done with these people."

Are you really giving me freedom to take over?

"For now, yes. I don't want to deal with this."

You do realize, letting me take over won't erase your pain.

"I know, Abaddon. But I don't want to deal with these people right now. They're all yours," I closed my eyes and felt myself slipping away.

"Well now. I think I'm going to enjoy myself this time," I smiled, my eyes dissolving into black.

I was making my way back to the Gilbert House when Alex's phone went off in her back. Fishing it out I saw the caller ID said Stefan.

"Stefan, darling. What a pleasure to be speaking to you once again," I smirked down the phone.

"Abaddon. I called Alex," He spat out.

"She's unavailable right now, can I take a message?"

"No, just bring her back."

"Can't. She asked me to take over. She doesn't want to see any of you right now."

"Why is that?"

"She just watched what she thought was her sister die. I believe you can understand how upset she's feeling."

"Damon didn't tell her we'd be using Katherine?"

"Obviously not. Now she's not coming back anytime soon so..."

"Maybe you can help me instead?" Stefan asked.

"With what?"

"Revenge. I have a feeling its something you'll be interested in."

"And why is that?"

"Because its revenge on Klaus,"

"Now you're talking," I smiled.

So, what did you all think? Worth the wait? To my reviewers:

grapejuice101 - Thank you for your review! Sorry for the wait, hopefully you'll enjoy this chapter. Not many Stefan/Damon/Alex scenes here but I'm not abandoning them :)

Lucy Greenhill - Thank you for your review! So glad you enjoyed the last chapter, what did you think of this one? Sorry for the wait!

winxgirl1997 - Thank you for your review! Sorry for the wait, hopefully you'll like this chapter!

WhisperedxNothingsx - Thank you for your review! I'm glad you like Rebekah and Alex's relationship! I enjoy writing it because they just seem to be two halves to a whole, if you get me :) I feel like Elena's getting better but she is a selfish character and I think its coming out tenfold with her Alex. I like the idea of Kol because he is such an interesting character but we'll have to see how it goes ;)

lolsmileyface6 - Thank you for your review! Glad you liked the last chapter and sorry for the wait!

Krissie - Thank you for your review! I feel bad for Alex as well but all this is making her a better person! She gets stronger every time someone knocks her down :) Sorry for the wait!

Alsynea - Thank you for your review! Boy that was a long one, I loved every word of it! I'm so happy you took the time to read this story, it really means a lot to me! Thank you for your amazingly kind words! They make me feel like what I'm doing is actually worth the effort I put into it! :)

I think we all want Elena to get what she deserves and I'm sure she will soon! Can't be having her mistreat Alex and get away with it!

Yeah, Alex still doesn't know exactly how the resurrection works but she has a slight idea. Rose would be a fun character to bring back and I'd like to see if I could somewhere (it would be nice as I brought Trevor back) but who knows! Its something Alex will develop more over the story!

I'm so excited to get the Originals back but don't worry about Elijah. As much as I love him and Alex they just aren't meant to be in a relationship. THey respect each other too much for that type of messiness. Hopefully you'll like who I eventually end up pairing her with, hopefully everyone will like it :P

Thank you again for the awesome review and so sorry for the wait! Hopefully you can forgive me!

Taylorocks17 - Thank you for your review! Sorry for the wait but hopefully you'll like this chapter. Well there's a lot of both of those pairings in this chapter so hopefully you'll have your fill for now!

Sayomi-hime - Thank you for your review! Any review from you I love, no matter the length! But this one was long too so I'm happy! :P I'm so glad you like the Rebekah/Alex relationship as well! I really feel that they need each other. They can understand each other and they need that.

Yeah, Alaric and Jeremy will always be there for Alex. That's just a fact :P

Hopefully you like Alex's rage at Mikael. It was quite short but I felt it conveyed everything that needed to be said. Tell me if I should've added anything :)

I'm happy to help! They both sound very intriguing so I'll do my best to give you any help or advice! Just give me a pm anytime and I'll see what I can do :) Sorry for the wait! Hopefully you'll enjoy this chapter!

dark angeltiger - Thank you for your review! I'm glad you like this story and I'm sorry for the wait! Hopefully you'll like this chapter!
