XXV. Charlie
All Charlie could remember was looking down at Hazel's wound and then blacking out. He had never been squeamish around blood or bad injuries before, so why did he black out?
He blinked and looked around him. He was still in the same clearing, but he saw something that really scared him, maybe even more than the monsters. He saw Hazel lying on the ground with Piper and himself standing over her. His eyes, head, neck shoulders, arms, and hands were glowing the same yellow as the dome from before.
He tried to run forward, but before he could even move the area around him faded away, until he was standing on the deck of the Argo II. No one else was there.
"Seven half-bloods shall answer the call,"
Charlie turned to see who was talking and still didn't see anyone. The world around him started to fade away.
"To storm or fire the world must fall,"
That line sent shivers up Charlie's spine. The darkness around him started to clear up, but he still couldn't make out anything through the haze.
"An oath to keep with a final breath,"
This line scared Charlie way more than the line before. Why? He didn't know. All he knew was that that line sounded… realer.
"And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death."
The haze finally faded away and Charlie saw that he was standing in front of a door. Charlie didn't get why the door was there; there was nothing else there, just this door and its frame. He tried to get closer to it, but he couldn't move. He pushed his feet forward. They wouldn't budge.
"It's no use, demigod," A different voice from the first that Charlie didn't recognize said, "You can't move for the time being."
"Who are you?" Charlie asked, trying to keep the fear out of his voice.
He completely ignored Charlie's question. "Mother Gaia said that you are powerful, not as powerful as some of the others, but powerful all the same. She said that you are one of the first demigods to be able to perform Photokinesis in the last thousand years."
There was that word again. "Photokinesis". Why did everyone think that he had that ability? What was it anyway?
"W-What's Photo-kinesis?"
The voice laughed. "You mean your father hasn't told you yet?"
"My father?"
"He hasn't claimed you yet? You think with such a powerful boy he'd want to boast."
"Who's my father?" No one had ever told Charlie who his father was, and if this guy knew, Charlie wanted to know, too.
"Why spoil it? This will be so fun to watch."
The area around Charlie started to fade.
"I'll see you again soon, demigod."
Charlie was, once again, standing in darkness.
Just when he thought he would be standing in darkness forever, the darkness faded until he was standing at what looked like a shrine to a man in a chariot, without horses. Apollo. Near the shrine, Charlie could see a very old fashioned city, like ancient Greece old.
A beautiful woman with hair so brown it was almost black, chocolate brown eyes, dressed in old Greek style robes who looked about eighteen stood at the shrine. She looked like she might have been cleaning something.
Then a guy who looked about the girl's age walked up. He had sandy blond hair and a outdoorsy look to him. He was also in old Greek robes.
The girl turned around and stumbled slightly, with an amazed look on her face. "L-Lord Apollo." She kneeled in front of the man.
"Hello, miss." Apollo said.
"Cassandra. You can call me Cassandra, Lord Apollo." She said, blushing slightly.
"Well miss Cassandra, you are very beautiful." Cassandra's blush darkened.
"Thank you, Lord Apollo."
"I tell you what, let's make a deal. I'll give you the gift of prophecy, if you would give me a kiss." Apollo offered.
Cassandra looked shocked for a second, then answered, "I accept your deal, Lord Apollo."
Apollo laughed as he waved his hand. The world started to disappear again.
Suddenly, the city around the shrine was on fire. There were men with shields, amour, and weapons running around killing other people. Amongst the chaos, Charlie could see Apollo helping the people destroy the city.
Charlie knew that this was supposed to be the future. Why would Apollo be all friendly and all, if he's going to destroy their city? Charlie thought outraged. Even if this was just a dream, he couldn't stand traitors.
The scene faded back to the shrine. Charlie guessed that Cassandra had the same vision, because she also looked outraged.
Apollo bent down for a kiss, with his eyes closed, from Cassandra. She looked at him, angrily and spit in his face.
Apollo's eyes flew open. He looked at Cassandra's triumphant smile. Charlie could see he was very angry.
"I gave you the gift of prophecy, one of my greatest of possible gifts, and you spit in my face! Since I can't trust you, no one will believe you when you talk about the future!" Apollo yelled at Cassandra.
Before Charlie could see what happened next, he woke up.
"-Now, surrender or die."
