Chapter 25

Kim woke up feeling like a shit. After a whole night of crying she managed to fall asleep only at the very break of dawn, only to be awoken by violent nightmare filled with blood and pain just two hours later. Drenched in sweat, she sat hidden under her covers, watching the sun slowly climb on the sky. She was exhausted, so very exhausted, that mere sitting was almost agonizing. She knew that it was all in her mind but that was of little comfort to her.

She hugged her knees closer to her chest, feeling a shiver go down her spine. If not for her fantastic family accepting her outright, she would've been a complete wreck.

After the sun was quite high in the sky, Kim decided to finally leave her bed and go to the bathroom to make herself a bit more presentable. As predicted, the sight in the mirror wasn't pretty. She had messed up hair with dark bags under bloodshot eyes.

'Thank God for makeup.' She thought while washing her numb face.

After deciding that her face would not scare any children, Kim left the bathroom to find something to eat. Yesterday she all but forgotten about food and now her stomach was violently demanding more fuel. So she slugged downstairs and found her parents in living room.

"Hey guys," she welcomed them weakly.

"How was your night, Kimmie-cub? Did you sleep well?" her father asked, concern written all over his face.

"Could've been better," she replied, moving to the sofa. Although, her stomach grumbled, indicating that she should be in the kitchen right now.

"I'll fix you a breakfast, anything special?" Ann asked.

"Anything."

"One anything coming up," Ann joked, hoping for at least a weak smile but failed as Kim's face remained impassive. After a few minutes, one omelet with tomato juice was placed before the teenager.

Kim's mouth watered when the scent reached her nostrils.

Her parents smiled as their daughter wolfed down the meal. At least her appetite was intact. Kim inhaled her food at speed no young lady should eat and was about to take a sip of tomato juice when she suddenly paused, noticing that something was wrong with it. The red was too intense, way too much for even the freshest tomato juice. It looked almost like blood…

"Is everything alright?" Kim turned her head to look at her father and froze. For in her father's place was Legion, casually reading a newspaper, drenched in blood with his head barely hanging by a few tendons and with an insane inmate grin aimed at Kim.

CRASH!

The glass shattered on the floor, spilling the juice all over the flood.

"Kimmie, are you okay!?" Ann was right at Kim's side, holding her hands. The girl blinked in shock as her father was once again sitting on the sofa, staring at her worryingly.

"Y-yeah, I think so..." the girl shuttered, losing all appetite. "I'm... gonna go visit Ron." She quickly excluded herself, she could not take the stares of her parents any longer. She got herself dressed and went straight for her best friend home, eager to do something stupid just to take her mind off things. Ron always knew how to cheer her up.

As usual, she invited herself in, going straight for his room. Despite being almost 1 PM, Ron wasn't downstairs, so it meant that he was either sleeping or playing games with Felix. But rather the former since they had a rough night. And as usual, she opened the door to his room, expecting to see him in bed. She wasn't disappointed. He was there resting on his pillow with a strangely pleased expression.

The boy let content sight for some reason... that could be connected with an up and down movement coming from his waist. Then Kim's eyes widened to the size of a platters as she noticed a par of green feet sticking from under the cover. Adding one to one she opened her mouth in a wordless scream, just in time for Ron, who was still on cloud seven, to speak.

"Sheila…" Ron breathed with his voice laced with lust. "I'm going to–!"

Kim couldn't take it anymore. "RON!?" she finally exclaimed, startling the poor boy and his girlfriend.

"WOAH!" Ron jumped, causing a chain reaction beneath his cover that, without going into detail, set Sheila into a violent cough fit, making her fall from the bed while dragging the cover with her making Ron's Ronness visible to the whole world. Which at that moment was his best traumatized friend that was about to get traumatized even further at this point. To add to the situation, Sheila jumped on her feet just a second later, flashing Kim her birthday suit.

"What the fuck, Princess?" Shego growled between coughs. "Didn't someone teach you to knock?"

"I... I..." Kim droned, still staring at Ron's… belly. Why would she be looking at anything other than his belly in such a situation? "I'll wait downstairs!" She almost ran out of the room before the situation got more... sticky. Her heart was beating like hammer as she tried to calm her nerves. Images of things she witnessed in Ron's room flashed before her eyes, causing her to burn red.

'Great, just what I needed.' Kim thought, trying to not let her thoughts wander into darker corners of her mind. She sat on sofa and waited…

5 minutes…

10 minutes…

15 minutes…

'What are doing up–oh, seriously!?' she groaned when she realized what they were probably doing.

Kim hid her head under the pillow to mute all sounds since she started imagining hearing heavy breathing. She did not know hold long she spent underneath that pillow, but she was sure as hell surprised when she suddenly felt a sharp slap on her rear. Almost jumping out of her skin, she dropped the pillow, coming eye to eye with grinning Shego.

"That was for ruining my afternoon." The raven haired woman dropped on the near armchair, stretching. "I hate to be rushed."

"Like, stop right there. I don't wanna know." Kim put her hands up.

"Well, you seemed quite interested at the time..." Shego gave her light glare. "Sorry, but that's one not for taking."

"I know!" Kim growled, blushing. "I know..."

The green skinned woman looked at her with an unreadable expression. "How are you holding?" she finally asked.

"I'll manage... I think." Kim replied, not looking at her ex-nemesis. Heavy silence fell between the two.

"Why... Why'd you saved me?" Shego finally asked, looking straight into Kim's eyes. "You killed to save my life... why?"

Kim closed her eyes. She dearly hoped that Shego would simply drop the matter and let bygones be bygones. She did not want to explain her reasoning to her.

"Spur of moment." Kim lied. Sadly for her, Shego spent most of her life surrounded by liars and crooks and straight A, goody-goody two shoes was not able to bullshit her.

"Look Kimmie, we can either talk now with just the two of us or when Ronnie gets down here." She told her idly, "Now spill."

Kim sighed, Shego was one of the most stubborn people she ever came in have contact with. When she was set on something she wouldn't let it go no matter what. Better to get it over with.

"Because I love Ron." Kim stated, making Shego look at her in confusion. The ex-villainess knew that but what it had to do with current situation was eluding her. "If you died… Ron would've been devastated beyond belief."

"Wouldn't that suit you? He would need a shoulder to cry on and then someone to fill the gap." As soon as Shego said that Kim sent her an extremely heavy and dark glare.

"If you really thought that I'm that shallow to allow another person… no matter who… die for my selfish desires, then I pity Ron for having such woman."

This time it was Shego who averted looking into other woman's eyes. Kim had a strong point there. "Sorry, that was low blow..." she admitted with slight guilt. The girl wasn't in good place yet she kept adding to it. "For all it's worth... thanks for saving my life, Kim." Shego said without malice or sarcasm.

Kim nodded, at least content that the green skinned woman apologized and the duo sat in semi-comfortable silence for a few more minutes until Ron decided to make his appearance. He was not psyching himself up before facing Kim, not at all. The situation from twenty minutes before did not cause him to wiggle in his bed in shame and despair and would not prevent him from looking into Kim's eyes.

"H-Hey Kim, what's up?" Ron asked casually, looking right into Kim's eyes... for about two seconds. Both of them blushed fiercely and looked at their feet much to Shego's amusement.

"Yeah Kimmie, what's up?" Shego leered, motioning Ron to sit next to her. The teens blushed, not gracing the older woman with a response.

"Just came to visit… maybe hang out." Kim shuttered.

"Umm, yeah, sure... they recently re-opened the mall. How about we go there and do something?" Ron proposed, trying to sound casual. Sheila's snicker indicated that he was failing.

"One would think that lifelong friends would be more at ease around each other," she commented.

"The situation's different!" Kim snapped with an angry blush, making Shego roll her eyes.

"So, you saw his dick and now you are barely able to look at him, and vice versa, grow up both of you." She shook her head while getting up," Gonna fetch something to drink."

With that she left the room, leaving the duo in very awkward silence. It was kind of hard to expect teens to instantly get over such an incident, so when Sheila came back from a twenty minutes long drink fetching, she found them staring at everything but each other.

"If I knew such thing would cause such distress among you, I would've pulled down his underwear a long time ago." Shego chuckled evilly as both teen squirmed. "Which would probably greatly accelerate our relationship, Ronnie," she licked her lips lustfully.

"S-Sheila!" Ron spluttered.

"Like… EWWW!" Kim squealed.

"Says the virgin, if you knew the game you would sing a different song." Shego felt that she was about to crack. Their expressions were simply priceless. Kim had a feeling that steam was about to burst out of her ears. The outrageous things the woman was saying was getting to her!

"Okay! Time to change the subject!" Ron interjected desperately. "So how do you plan to spend your two weeks of free time, Kim?

"I don't have any plans, mostly relaxing at home and doing nothing… that's it, I guess..." Kim replied, thankful for his intervention. "You?"

"Tomorrow we're off to Cuba." Ron told her. "Sheila booked a hotel, for some reason the island remained almost untouched and they're capitalizing on it."

"Oh... that's good, you deserve some relax too." Kim smiled weakly, hiding her disappointment. She was hoping to spend some time with Ron.

"So let's get dressed and hit the mall, I have a business meeting with the guys later!" Ron stood up.

"Business meeting?" Kim furrowed her eyebrows.

"Remember that small tech-company idea we had?" Kim nodded. "Well, after the invasion, the need for cutting edge prosthetic limbs rose like a billion percent, so with what we came up, we got an invitation from the government!" Ron exclaimed happily, surprising both Kim and Shego.

"When did that happen!?" Shego and Kim uttered at the same time.

"A day before we got sent to the Genesis facility, we're meeting with them next week to work out the details." Ron was positively excited. "They promised to supply us with workers, materials, and industrial scale equipment since what we have is way too little to be even called a drop in the ocean."

"Where's the catch? The government never does anything out of the goodness of it's cold and dark heart." Sheila asked.

"We have to sell it with almost no profit for about a year and a half, that's why we're meeting to discuss if it worth it, since I got a ton of cash to pay for everything but..."

"The inflation... yeah, the prices jumped recently." Kim agreed. It's not like a devastating world scale invasion wouldn't had an impact of cash value.

"That's why the offer is so tempting, because we would get all that we need, plus protection from tax offices." Ron shivered. "We would get also a strategic certificate for our company." Both women whistled at that. "Many people were crippled by the aliens so that means horrible costs for the country; with our tech we can nullify most of the disabilities. Just like with Felix those unfortunate people can have their lives back again... so we're thinking to agree to the proposal."

"Do you want me to go to that meeting? I have experience dealing with crooks and shady deals."

In GJ HQ a certain blue scientist sneezed, scattering all the neatly folded documents on a certain desk belonging to a certain one-eyed director...

"Well, I'm certain I could use your expertise." Ron chuckled, wrapping his arm around her waist.

"You can get some right now..." Sheila purred, pressing herself to Ron.

"I'm still here!" Kim reminded them.

"Go get changed then and we'll meet you in half an hour." Shego waved at her.

"Why so long?" Kim frowned. Ron's blush and Shego's grin told her everything she needed to know.

The mall

No one knew exactly how the shrine of consumptionism was one of the first buildings that were reopened in Middleton. Be it the invisible hand of the masters of earth or the purest instinct of capitalism the mall stood proudly among the rubble surrounding it. Of course it was an absolute hit as the population desperately wanted a piece of their old life back. So to call that place crowded would be understatement of the century. It seemed like everyone was here since a familiar face passed them every few minutes. But what they weren't expecting was Bonnie and Tara, but mostly Bonnie working at the charity.

Ron and Kim's jaws hit the floor when they saw the dark skinned girl handing free meals to the poor and those in need.

"Okay, now I'm sure that the matrix got a major glitch." Kim mumbled, rubbing her eyes. "Bonnie is helping people?"

"Maybe we're in the event of another invasion because the world must be ending." Ron agreed. "Or it's a synthodrone from Drakken's newest shem–wait..." Ron paused, feeling a wave of nostalgia wash over him.

"Did you just get hit by wave of nostalgia too?" Kim inquired with a longing expression.

"Yeah, let's go see what she's up to." Ron told them and moved towards the stall. Tara was the first one to notice them.

"Oh! Hey Ron, Kim... Ms. Go..." Was that slight resentment in her voice? Nah, it wasn't possible that an angel like Tara King could feel resentment towards any one. Not even a woman who stole her years long crush that later turned out to be a super hero who saved the Earth and was a new symbol of badassery. So no, she was not resentful towards Sheila Go at all. Bonnie on the other hand turned white as snow when she had seen them.

"What's up losers... Ms. Go..." she tried to sound causal but failed miserably.

"The Queen B handing out food to the people." Kim pulled her phone out and took a photo. "The world is becoming a better place."

"I'm here just to help Tara out! Nothing more," she snapped, filling another bowl of soup. "So don't read too much into it, losers!" She bared her teeth," Here you go sir." Her face morphed in a second to a polite smile when she gave the food to an older man.

"I remember her from my brief stay at Middleton High that she was quite annoying." Shego spoke. "Never pegged her for the charity type."

"Okay spill, Bonnie, what do you get from this?" Kim couldn't help but ask.

"Do I have to get something out of everything I do?" she asked rhetorically.

"Yes," came the simultaneous reply from the teen duo.

"I have my reasons, okay?!" Bonnie snapped, storming out of the stall. "I'm taking a break."

"Wow, what bit little Miss B in the ass today?" Sheila looked after the brunette with a frown.

"She's going through a rough time." Tara told them with sadness in her voice. "Her sister died in invasion."

"Oh…" Kim suddenly felt very bad.

"She's never had a good relationship with them, but what hit her the most was how empty the church was during her funeral. Almost no one from their friends attended it." Tara said with distaste. "They were always surrounded by a group of lackeys who kissed the ground they were walking on, but when it came to it..." She left the part hanging. "Bonnie asked a few that she knew why they didn't come and all they came up were some lame excuses, one even said that no one cries over bitches."

"Holy cow, her sisters had a really nice crowd around them." Ron commented, slightly mortified.

"Bonnie's afraid that she might end the same so she started to work in various charities to not be like her sisters. And make some real friendships" Tara smiled happily. "I'm glad she came out of her shell."

"Poor Bonnie." Kim mumbled. "How are you Tara? Everything fine?"

"Luckily yes, no one from my closest relatives died and we're managing." Tara handed another meal.

"I'm glad… the world's already lost so much." Kim returned the smile. "We'll be going now; we don't want to interrupt you anymore."

"Oh no, you're not interrupting! You're welcome to come as often as you like." Tara said that while looking directly at Ron.

"Sure, we'll come by every Sunday." Shego really did not like the look the blonde was giving her blonde.

"It was good seeing you, Tara." Ron told her, trying not to wince when he felt a full set of nails dig into his hand. The trio left the stall with Shego almost dragging Ron from there. "Sheila, do I sense some jealousy coming from you?" he asked with chuckle in the back of his throat.

"You will soon sense a fist in your ass if you don't stop being smug right now." she threatened.

"Okay, okay, I'm not saying anything more about your rampart and very cute envy." Ron mocked her only to feel her hand glowing almost painfully hot. "Sheila, you're getting way too hot and in a not good possibly harming way."

"That's what you get for being smug, Ronnie." she grinned sweetly, cooling down.

"You always say that you enjoy me being a bad boy," he shot back.

"Only in particular instances, like this morning."

"EWWW!" Kim couldn't hold it any longer. "Get a room!"

"We already got one... a few actually..." Shego rubbed her chin. "Kitchen was good too that one time."

"Okay, I don't want to hear any more of it!" Kim moved forward, "I'm off shopping!"

"Just don't stay here till the midnight Kim!" Ron called after her. "I have time only till 7!" The redhead did not give any indication that she heard him as she disappeared in the crowd. "So Sheila, what do you want to–?" he couldn't even finish as a hand clasped around his shoulder and dragged him towards the nearest shop.

"Nooooo!" he whined as he realized what the next few hours of his life would look like.

A few hours later… Felix's house

"By the power Zandark the Malevolent, I roll!" Wade uttered with deadly seriousness! "Three? Aw damn…"

"Thus ends the reign of Wade the Terrible!" Jim knocked Wade's pawn off the board much to the other boy's despair.

"I'll be back you hear me! Back!" Wade yelled, pretending to die from severe wounds. Felix, Tim, and Ron laughed at the theatrics.

"Okay guys, it's been fun and all, but we have to talk about stuff." Ron told them. "You got the mail I sent you?" The rest nodded. "What do you think?"

"It's a trap!" Felix suddenly exclaimed, startling them." Sorry about that, but I think that we should employ a lawyer before we sign anything with them. It's not like government ever makes such deals without strings."

"But what about all those people who need our help?" Jim asked.

"It's not like we need cash that much; a year and a half working for free isn't that bad." Tim added.

"Look, I think we all agree that if we can help all those victims after invasion, then we really cannot deny that offer." Wade stated. "It would jump start our production and we could start manufacturing those limbs at the end of the month."

"Yeah, but, I'm afraid that they might want our inventions for themselves, so after the year and a half is done they'll take away all we worked for." Ron sighed. The horrors of Genesis facility left its mark on him too.

He would never ever trust anything that comes from the government. If those people agreed to that, breaking a deal with a few kids wouldn't even make anyone bat an eyelash.

"It's not like patent office can really prevent them from taking it from us..." Wade agreed. "Also it was based on the Centurion project, so technically we're the ones stealing their tech." his comments made Felix clench his fists.

"They always think of way to make weapons but never on how to actually help people... yes, we took it from them, but we turned it into something that improves lives not destroy them!" Felix said hotly.

"Dude..." Ron put his hand on his shoulder. Everyone could see how much it was affecting their friend. To have an ability to walk again was something Felix could only dream about until recently. For him to help other people who lost their limbs was a personal matter.

"We will hammer something out of it. Sheila agreed to help us and she has the most experience with shady deals."

"As long as we help people, I'm fine with that." Jim told them, giving a high five to his twin. "Besides, it's not like the five of us can come up with something even more awesome!"

With their moods positively lifted, the boys finished their game and parted. It was getting late and Ron still had to pack.

Kim's house

"I'm telling you Monique, you have to visit the mall! The promotions are insane there!" Kim told her best female friend via phone.

"And you went there without me?! Some girlfriend you are!" the Gossip Queen complained.

"It was a spur of a moment thing. I needed to bleach my brain from the morning," Kim felt her cheeks colored.

"What happened?" Monique's gossip sense was tingling like crazy.

"Promise not to tell anyone? I mean really!" Yeah, like that would work on her…

"Sure… my lips are sealed, now spill!" her curiosity was over 9000.

"I kind of walked to Ron's room...while he was with Shego..."

"So? They're an item; they're bound to be spending some time togeth–!" Just now it hit her what Kim was implying. "Bow chicka bow wow, are you serious? You caught them in act!?"

"Yeah, luckily for me most of it happened beneath the cover." Kim told her.

"So you didn't see?" the black skinned girl pressed. The redhead was unable to reply." You did?! OMG! Tell me Kim… is there a reason he always wears loose pants?"

"What?! NO… maybe! I don't know, I haven't seen enough to compare! Besides… ewwww!" Kim wiggled on her bed from embarrassment.

"Ahh, you're such a prude." She giggled through the phone, "You made my evening."

"Glad to be your personal amusement." Kim growled but without the bite.

"Not as much as Shego is to Ron." Monique burned Kim.

"THAT'S IT!" Kim hung up, still hearing the other girl laugh until the click. Despite feeling flushed as hell, she was indeed in a slightly better mood. Looking at the clock she deiced that it was high time to get some sleep.

Kim made her bed and put her head on the soft pillow, feeling last night was catching up to her as a loud yawn escaped her mouth. She just hope that his time she would be able have a full night rest.

"Good night, Kimmie." Legion's whisper reached her ears making her choke a sob.

It seems that the nightmare was not yet over.
