Chapter 25: Another Heartache
Frank and I stayed silent the entire walk back. We didn't even look at each other we were so pissed off. After a short walk, we finally came up to everyone by the stage. They all shot us a concerned look instantly.
"Hayden? What's wrong?" Dawn asked.
"Nothing." I didn't look up.
"...Frank?" May was just as concerned.
"It's fine." Frank stared off into the distance.
May let out a sudden gasp when she saw Frank's face. "Frank...what happened?"
"I tripped when I was walk-"
"Oh just don't even Frank." I looked up suddenly, revealing my bloody nose. "Literally don't freaking even."-
Dawn let out a gasp as well when she saw me. "Oh my God...did you two get in a fight? Are you okay?"
"You know what Dawn? I'm actually perfectly fine. They wanna treat us like that? Well they don't need us so fuck em..." I clenched my fist and gritted my teeth hard. "FUCK EM!" I punched one of the barricades around the stage knocking it over.
I turned my attention towards the girls after I did so. "Fuck it dude, I'm not gonna goddamn lie to cover up this one. You wanna know what happened? You really wanna know?"
Everyone fell dead silent, before nodding at me with a bit of a scared look.
"Fine. Then we'll tell you what really happened." I shook my head.
Frank and I began to tell the story from what had happened a few minutes before when we went to find the girls. We still may have kept the actual reason that they were jealous a secret, for Chris and Ian's sake since they still had no idea, but as for almost everything else that had happened, it was all out in the open.
When we finished the story and told the end part on why our faces had blood on them, everyone's jaws hit the ground.
"Ranie...she actually hit you?!" Dawn sounded just a little agitated, though not much.
"Angie clawed you?!" May's eyes were wide in astonishment.
We both shook our heads.
"Though I don't think Angie actually meant to claw me. As for slapping me though? I think that part was definitely meant." Said Frank.
I turned my attention towards Chris and Ian. "I think it's best that you guys go to get them with the other pokemon...cause Frank and I are going the fuck home." I quickly turned around and began to grab my things and climb onto Drake's back.
Frank was already a step ahead with his stuff and he on Finn's back.
"Alright guys...we understand. We'll hangout again soon right?" Chris asked.
"Yeah man just...just give us a bit to be alone." I grabbed tighter onto Drake, ready for takeoff.
"Well we're coming too. Sorry but we're going to help you guys whether you like it or not." Dawn hurriedly hopped onto Drake's back.
"Help me up please?" May held her hand up to Frank, who took it a few seconds after, helping her onto Finn's back.
"We can go cash the check tomorrow or something and split it all evenly. Until then, you guys keep it safe at one of your houses." I handed the check towards Chris and Ian.
"You take it. I don't wanna lose it." Ian said.
"Alright then." Chris hesitantly took the check from me and stuck it into his bag.
"Later guys. Alright let's go home Drake."
"Yeah, please. I just wanna get out of here." Said Frank.
Frank and I both left in a hurry, waving back at the other guys once more until they eventually left our sight. Even though our flight was fairly short in reality, if felt like it had taken ages for us to get to my house. We had stayed completely silent then entire flight home. The only time that anything was said at all was when Finn had asked Drake a question dealing with the trees below or something along those lines. I hadn't really been paying all that much attention.
"Thank God." I said, landing in front of my house.
"I'm gonna go ahead and head home dude. I might come over later or something, but...I just don't know man." Frank shook his head, obviously still aggravated from everything.
"No man, I totally understand. Hit me up later bro." I fistbumped my bestfriend and just nodded at May as we saw them off.
"Shall we go in?" Dawn asked.
"Yeah." I turned my attention towards Drake. "Alright buddy, return."
The two of us walked into my house, setting our bags down. I grabbed my guitar and amp and brought it into the music room before walking back into the house to get something to drink.
"Oh yeah...out of sprite. Shit." I murmured to myslef before grabbing some water instead.
"What's wrong?" Dawn called over from the couch.
"No soda." I replied quickly.
Dawn shot me a really concerned look the entire time that I was walking over to the couch she was on.
"What?" I raised my eyebrow.
"What do you mean what? We need to talk about eveything that happened earlier so you can vent to me. That's why I'm here for you." She smiled.
"I don't need to vent." I tried the whole tough guy act, though it didn't seem to bypass her very well.
"You're a comedian. Now seriously Hayden. Tell me why all of that stuff happened, please." She begged.
"You act like you don't have a clue." I shook my head.
Dawn seemed to get a little irritated at how I was being. "You know, you don't have to say it like that, I'm just trying to help Hayden. Though I may kind of know, I don't know it all. Otherwise, I wouldn't be asking...Hayden, please tell me what happened." She put her hand on my shoulder, calming me down a little bit.
"*Sigh*...Ranie and Angie found out that you and May are our girlfriends." I said.
"O...Oh...well, they would have had to find out eventually r-"
"And Ranie...she knows that..." I shook my head before looking directly at Dawn. "She knows we had sex."
Dawn nearly choked on her water. "Ack...oh my...are you...serious?"
"Yep. I know she's a psychic and all...but I don't understand how the hell she just figured it out that easily."
"Well...I guess that I can understand how she feels about that..." Dawn turned away from me.
"Wait you do? How so?" I was utterly confused.
Dawn continued staring off in the other direction. "The night they slept over with you guys...when they were in the room with us and they told us that they had sex with you...it actually...uh...*sigh*...it kind of hurt me like...alot."
"Wait...really? But...why?"
"Because...that night that May and I kissed you by the campfire...when we asked you out..." She finally turned back towards me. "If you two would have said yes...we planned on...well, basically we planned to do it with you guys that night."
I immediately shot back. "You what? Seriously? I...I would have never seen that coming..."
Dawn just chuckled. "I...really wanted you to be my first Hayden, and I'm really happy that you were...but I also wanted to be yours."
"Oh...I...I see." My face had turned expressionless. I felt like I was stuck in some huge love triangle.
Dawn suddenly took a deep breath. "Hayden...I have a question."
The serious tone that she had sent chills up my spine for some reason. "Um...okay go ahead."
"You...you're still in love with Ranie. Aren't you."
I froze. Completely...frozen...speechless. "I...uhh...ah..I..."
"Hayden..." She looked at me as if handing me the knife of truth to stab her with it.
"*Sigh*...yeah. Yeah I am." I decided to just come clean.
"I...I see...we knew you guys did..." Dawn looked seriously disappointed.
"Wait...huh?"
"When May and I had seen the way you two ran off so quickly to chase after them...we knew that your feelings for them were still really strong." She said it matter-of-factly.
"That obvious huh."
"Yeah...it kind of is. But...I mean what can I say Hayden. You and her have an unbreakable bond. I guess I just need to get over the fact that you'll never be truly mine." Dawn said it like she was more disappointed than anything.
I felt like the shittiest person on the planet. "It's fine Dawn. I just gotta let her go that's all. trust me we can make this wo-"
"Stop pretending like this is right Hayden!" She suddenly shouted.
I was quite a bit taken back by her sudden outburst. "But...Dawn..."
"Hayden...you just don't get it..." She began to cry.
"Oh shit...no Dawn...please look it's...it's okay alright? I can...at least try..." I began to feel defeated. I knew that what I was saying just wasn't the truth even if I wanted it to be at the moment.
"Hayden...you need to work things out with her. You need to stop acting like you don't care because I know that you do. you just need to SHOW them that they choice they made was the wrong one. That's all it takes Hayden, trust me I'm a girl. I know how this shit works." She folded her arms.
I just shook my head. "Tried that, and you see where I am don't y-"
"Hayden...you can not just sit there and try once. Girls...can seriously be stubborn pain in the asses. Believe me, I can be one too. You can't give up at the first sign of defeat when you truly love someone like that! So please, make things right! I just want to see you happy again!" She began to sob harder and harder as she continued speaking.
"So...you...your breaking up with me? You...didn't really like me?" I asked.
"Hayden...I...it's not like that, I do like you...I lo..." Dawn stopped mid sentence and shook her head as the tears continued to stream down her face.
I just stood still, awaiting for some clarification.
She walked up close to me and grabbed my shirt collar, quickly pulling me into a kiss. It was just so...passionate. And it was all just confusing the hell out of me. She was breaking up with me...but she did like me? And now she's kissing me?
She finally pulled away from our slightly enlongated kiss, smiling through the continuous tears. "Just know...that this is not what I want...but I know it's what needs to happen. I just at least wanted...one last kiss." Her lip began to quiver again, tears threating to escape once more.
I just inhaled deeply as my heart raced tremendously. "Dawn..."
She just shook her head once more before hugging me tightly...and then walking straight out of the door, leaving me frozen...completely speechless. I honestly had no idea what to think right now. Though she may have been correct about trying to mend Ranie and I's relationship...who's going to be the one to say that it'll even work?
After a few minutes of staying in that same spot, someone began knocking at the door, snapping me out of my entrancement. "Oh...coming hold on." I shouted out, my voice slightly hoarse.
As soon as I had opened the door, I saw Frank just standing there with his head down and his hands in his pockets.
He just looked up to me with a blank expression. "May...she broke up with me dude...bummer."
"Yeah...Dawn too." I looked towards him. "She told you to work things out with Angie didn't she."
He just simply nodded. "Dawn told you to Work everything out with Ranie huh."
"Yeah...she did." I stared off into the distance. "I...I don't know what to do man. I feel completely empty."
"Yeah man...m-me too." He looked up to me and shook his head, before doing something that I can say he has never done before.
He just...hugged me. He hugged me, and I just welcomed it. I think we both just completely understood how each other was feeling and this was all we needed for now.
"Man...we're really screwed huh..." He asked, breaking away from the hug.
"*Sigh*...Yeah man." I looked up towards the sky, searching for answers within myself. "We'll get through this though...I promise..."
Finally I was able to upload this chapter, jeez. I have been nitpicking here and there, writing little bits every chance that I could when not working, also working on my other story consecutively. It's proving to be a challenge lol. Speaking of which, if you guys haven't gone and checked out my other story yet, please do so!
