song inspiration: Chasing Pavements, by Adele
White thinks that she's never had a crush before. Crushes are small and flighty, and sometimes they make people feel smaller or flightier than usual, too, and she's never really felt that before.
No, White is the kind of girl who falls into love the way one goes cliff diving — with adrenaline and thrill coursing through her veins the whole way down, the sense of finally, finally feeling alive when the rocks are just meters away, like she'll never stop chasing that feeling all the way down the Buneary hole. And even when she does hit the surface — or when reality comes knocking ever so politely on her door — there's always still a little bit farther down to explore before she has to surface for air.
So it takes White about four seconds after resting eyes on one of the original Kanto Dex Holders to feel her heart twist and expand and plunge towards that hailstorm of love.
"White."
(It takes Black more than a few tries — and, unbeknownst to her, quite a few different variations of names, nicknames, and insults — to catch her attention, and even then, she's flushed and woozy.)
"Hmm?" White asks, eyebrows raised but eyes still on the handsome champion.
"Are we gonna go say hello?"
Oh, yes.
She's seen pictures, read interviews, and even gotten a glimpse of the guy on television, but none of those things compare to having the real thing in front of her. Mmm. It's in the attitude, White thinks, the confidence that settles on the shoulders and gathers in the flex of his hands and ooh that man is hot.
That man also has his arm around the waist of a pretty girl who White suddenly recognizes as another one of the famous Kanto leaders, Yellow, and she pauses a bit in her newest obsession to be starstruck over the petite hero.
Then she goes right back to being in love.
With a man who's got a girlfriend.
Shame, that.
And White sighs to herself before straightening and up and preparing to go introduce herself. She's got enough respect for their status as her seniors (and as fellow human beings) that she won't try anything.
But her eyes wander for the rest of the night and she knows that her heart will not let him go that easily.
