Hey, everyone. It's kinda cold today, so this came to mind. Enjoy! (PS: Don't ask.)
Aang, Katara, and their friends were all in the Southrn Water Tribe for a very important series of meetings with Chief Hakoda. Unfortunately, the South Pole, in the autumn, was not an ideal place to spend a night.
But, seeing as it wouldn't make for much of a story otherwise, that's exactly what they were doing.
Cold usually didn't bother Aang much. After all, he had lived in the Southern Air Temple, and it got pretty cold at night. But tonight was differemt. Aang was freezing. He rolled himself up in his blankets, twisted and tossed in his bed, curled up into a ball, but it was just so cold. He couldn't get comfortable…he couldn't get warm.
Katara, in the next room over, was just as cold. She, unlike the rest of the group. Had gotten used to the warm climate of Ba Sing Se, and she hadn't been home in a year. She was not yet accustomed to the cold of the Southern Water Tribe. She was so cold, she could see her breath. She was absolutely miserable. So she decided to get up and get her blood moving. She paced around her room and up and down the hall, but she still couldn't get warm.
Suddenly, Aang sneezed. Seemed as though the cold had gotten to him.
"Aang?" Katara whispered.
A cough. "K-Katara? C-can you come h-here?" Aang pleaded through chattering teeth.
Katara entered the room and frowned at what she saw. Poor Aang was as pale as a ghost (which was odd even for as pale as he was anyway), shivering erratically.
"Aang, are you all right?" Katara asked.
"N-no," Aang stammered. "I'm c-cold."
"So I see," she said. "I thought cold didn't bother you."
"W-well, I haven't b-been here in awhile," he replied. "Can you…just lie here w-with me?" He looked up at her with shining, desperate eyes.
Katara smiled. "Aww, does Aang want to cuddle?" she asked teasingly.
Aang nodded. "Please?"
She laughed lightly. "Oh, all right." She climbed in bed next to him and crawled under the blankets.
Aang wrapped his arms around her, desperately trying to warm himself. He gradually felt Katara's body heat warming his arms, and warmth began to spread across his entire body.
He sighed in contentment. "You're so warm…" he said.
"Really? I don't feel very warm," Katara replied. "Neither do you. You're freezing!"
"Sorry," Aang said. "It's just so cold here. How could you live like this?"
"I dunno, I guess I was used to it," she said simply.
A long, comfortable silence fell upon the two.
That is, until Aang broke it. "Hey, Katara?"
"Hmm?"
"Have you ever thought about…maybe getting married one day?" Aang asked.
Katara was mildly surprised. "Umm…I guess. But aren't we a little young to—?"
"No, I didn't mean now," Aang said. "But…some point in the future, you know?"
She looked at him thoughtfully. "Of course." She emphasized her point by kissing him softly.
The two were instantly warmed, the sensation filling their bodies with love and affection. The kiss was soft, sweet, and long.
It was a full nineteen seconds before they pulled away, panting and gasping for air.
"I love you so much, Aang…" Katara breathed, pulling him as close to her as she possibly could.
"I love you, too," Aang replied, yawning and nuzzling her shoulder.
And before Katara knew it, Aang was fast asleep, a placid smile on his face.
Katara smiled and closed her eyes as well. Unfortunately, though, by the time she had fallen asleep, it was sunrise. In other words: breakfast.
Sokka came clamoring down the hall and toward Aang's room.
He opened the door. "Hey, Aang, breakfast is—GAH!"
He was shocked to find the pair asleep in each other's arms. The sight sickened him.
"Ugh…oogies!" He ran down the hall and to the bathroom to throw up.
