Later that Night.
Carly knocked on the door to Jordan's hotel room. Jordan was drinking his way through a bottle of whiskey, didn't answer.
"Jordan, I know you're in there," Carly said, "I asked my staff to let me know when you came back. I need to talk to you."
"I'm not in the mood for company," Jordan answered.
"You're really not going to open the door," Carly asked.
"I am not opening the door," Jordan said.
Carly let herself in with her master key. Jordan didn't have time to hide the whiskey.
Carly assessed her brother disheveled appearance. She walked up to him, overwhelmed by the smell of the whiskey. She yanked the bottle out of Jordan's hard.
"I'm not finished with that," Jordan said.
"You've had more than enough little brother," Carly said, "You'll thank me in the morning."
"You don't get to make decisions for me," Jordan said, standing up, "So what if we share the same DNA. You've known me for two seconds and think that gives you the right to interfere in my life."
Jordan headed for the door.
"You should not be going anywhere," Carly said.
"I'll get a cab," Jordan said, "Can't have the DA getting busted for a DUI now can we?"
Carly tried to keep him from leaving, but Jordan brushed her off.
Carly's attempts to get security to stop Jordan at the front were futile. Jordan evaded them and took a cab to Jake's.
"I'll take a whole bottle of whiskey, bottom shelf, top shelf," Jordan said to Coleman, sitting at the bar.
"Rough day at the DA's office," Coleman replied, setting shot glass in front of Jordan, "Are you sure you want the whole bottle?"
"I want the whole bottle," Jordan said, "What I've already had isn't enough to make me forget."
"Forget what?" Coleman asked, pouring the whiskey into the glass.
"None of your business," Jordan said, attempting to grab the bottle.
"Liquor control would have my license if I gave you the whole bottle," Coleman said, "You've already had quite a bit. By the way I'm going to have to take your keys."
"I took a cab, Coleman," Jordan said, taking the shot, "If it wasn't for the fact I'm staying at my sister's hotel where she just lets herself in because she has no sense of boundaries, I would be finishing the bottle I started in my hotel room. I can't even drink in peace in my own hotel room. How sad is that?"
"That's tough stuff, man," Coleman said, pouring some whiskey into a glass with ice in it, "That's all I can give you. If you want to stay, I'll only serve you water after this. Don't start anything either."
"Are one of the rooms in the back available?" Jordan asked.
Without a word, Coleman handed Jordan a key from the under the bar. Jordan took the key and the glass of whiskey and left.
Awhile later, Carly came barging in.
"Coleman, have you seen my brother?" She said approaching the bar.
"He was in about a half hour ago," Coleman said, "He left when I refused to serve him."
"Did he say where he was going?" Carly said, "He obviously shouldn't be wandering the streets by himself, why didn't you call me?"
"He was taking cabs," Coleman said, "Last I checked it's a free country. And Carly, the next time your brother wants to drink alone just let him. He'd be back in his hotel room passed out instead of wandering the streets."
"Right now my little brother doesn't seem to know what's good for him," Carly said.
"How your brother lives his life, sweetheart, is not up to you," Coleman said, "You need to know when to leave a man alone. Something kicked your brother really low tonight."
"And an overbearing, older sister is the last thing he wants right now," Jason said, joining them, before Carly could protest, "You and Jordan come from two totally separate worlds. Maybe you're right about what's best for him. But you're interfering in things you know nothing about. You need to let your brother and Kellie handle their lives however they decide to live them even if you disagree with their choices. One of my guys picked up Jordan and is tailing him. If Jordan can't get himself home safely, my guy will see to it. You just go home and be with your kids."
"Morgan's right," Coleman said.
"I know you're right and I don't like it," Carly said, "I'll go home. But if you hear anything, you need to call me."
"I promise," Jason said, "You're brother will be fine. Now get out of here."
"I'm going to hold you to it," Carly said, leaving.
Jason waited until Carly was gone before speaking to Coleman, "Did he get a room in the back?"
"I gave him the one right next door to yours," Coleman said, "I only served him a shot and one drink, not a whole bottle as he requested. He's probably passed out by now. I figured I'd check on him here shortly."
"You want me to try telling that to Carly," Jason said.
"Good point," Coleman said, "Have fun with the DA."
"Did he give you any clue as to what ?" Jason said stopping when Coleman shook his head.
"I was told to mind my own business when I asked," Coleman said.
The Next Day
Kellie answered a burn phone Dante had provided her with.
"I take it you got my message," Kellie said.
"You mean your resignation," Anna said, "I did. Are you sure this is what you want? It wasn't that long ago you were begging to take the next job."
"I'm not the same girl was just a few weeks ago, Anna," Kellie said, "Coming to Port Charles changed me more than I thought it would."
"I know that you reconnected with your Uncle," Anna said, "And now everyone knows who you are. I think there are instances where we could make that work if you still want to work for us. You don't have to give it up just because of who your families are."
"Anna, you told me once that an agent was only good, was only useful as long as he or she wants this life with a focus that blocks everything else out." Kellie said, "If an agent doesn't have that trait, they'll end up dead or getting others killed or worse. I don't want this life anymore. I'm smart enough to know that focus is gone. "
"l also told you if you ever wanted out, i'd help you get out," Anna said, "I hate to lose you. You're one of the best. But you never really chose this life. I never felt right about the you had to agree to work for us. It wasn't my call at that time."
"I know," Kellie said, "Just get me completely out now, including running South America. That's all you can do."
"What do you want done with the South America holdings," Anna asked.
"They're not really mine, remember," Kellie said.
"I know." Anna said, "But who do you trust to take them over from you."
"Morgan or my Uncle," Kellie said, "My uncle has already said he'll agree to your set up for my properties and his if you're on board with it."
"Consider it done," Anna said, "I'll send some paperwork for you to sign over to your Uncle when we decide how to proceed. Is there anything else?"
"If you could convince you're ex-husband I don't need to testify at my father's trial that would be fantastic," Kellie said.
"I'll see what I can do," Anna said.
The Alcazar Estate.
Scorpio knocked on the door of the Alcazar Estate. One of Lorenzo's guards escorted him to the study.
"What can I probably not do for you today?" Lorenzo asked.
"I'd like to speak to Kellie," Scorpio said.
"She's not receiving visitors today," Lorenzo said.
"Who put you in charge of who Kellie sees?" Scorpio asked.
"She did," Lorenzo said, "And if you think I don't know you called her about a job and she told you where to stick it, you better think again."
"She won't take my phone calls," Scorpio said, "I figure I've got a better chance at convincing her to take this job in person."
"My niece has made it perfectly clear, she's not interested in taking anymore jobs," Lorenzo said, "Attempting to railroad her in person won't change that. As far as I'm concern, the governments taken its pound of flesh from Kellie and then some."
"If it wasn't for the government, she'd probably still be Esoterra's plaything or dead," Scorpio said, "You should be thanking me."
"When does she stop owing you for doing your job?" Lorenzo ask, "As long as Kellie's under my roof, under my protection, you aren't getting near her. Not without her consent."
Before Robert could answer, his cell phone rang. He looked at it.
"I'll have to call you back," Robert said, "I'm tracking down Kellie. I'm at Alcazar's now."
"There will be no tracking down, Kellie," Anna said, "I got her notice this morning. She's done, Robert."
"She only thinks she's done," Robert said, "She'll get bored of being a civilian. I give it a month tops."
"Robert, Kellie can no longer be in the field," Anna said, "If you'd actually listen to her. It's in her voice. She doesn't have the focus, the drive she needs to succeed in the field. As much as we hate to lose her, she's always known when it's time to get out. That's what always made her so good."
"But Anna, if I could just see her in person and talk to her," Robert argued, "I'm sure I could change that."
"Robert, I don't want you anywhere near Kellie," Anna said, "That's a direct order. I'll be handling her exit and Jordan will deal with her as far as Sonny's trial goes. Even in that, we're reassessing whether we really need her testimony"
"Anna," Robert protested.
"Robert, the only thing I want you to do is back off and wait for your orders," Anna said, "So leave Alcazar alone. You've got better things to focus on."
Anna hung up before Robert could protest. Lorenzo was smirking.
"Apparently, my boss, ex-wife just decided to play along with Kellie's quarter-life crisis," Robert said.
"I think I like her already," Lorenzo said, "My staff will show you out. Have a good day, Mr. Scorpio."
Jake's
Jordan woke up long enough to feel the pounding in his head and nausea. He managed to call in sick before collapsing back on the bed. He felt someone force him to drink water and take advil before leaving him to sleep off the hangover.
Back out in the bar, Coleman asked, "How is our inebriated DA?"
"I don't think anyone would want to be him right now," Jason said, "I forced him to drink water and take Advil. Somehow he managed to call in sick to work on his own."
Jason's phone rang. He ignored it when he saw it was Carly.
"Carly, again?" Coleman asked.
"I already told her Jordan was fine," Jason said, "But not where he is."
"She's spitting nails," Coleman said, "She does not know when to back off."
"There's a reason he got drunk like this," Jason said, "A reason he wants to forget."
Stan walked into bar, "Jordan Durant used to be a former field agent. He actually worked with Sonny's daughter a few times."
"I knew that," Jason said, "I also know he couldn't handle field work."
"And went to work in the courts prosecuting the people his agents arrested in the field," Stan said, "He doesn't have to keep a cover, rarely has to get his hands dirty, and its less personal. At least that's what his psych analysis said after he blew his and Kellie's cover."
"Well it doesn't get much more personal prosecuting Sonny who happens to be the DA's ex-brother-in-law and his girlfriend's father."
"Wait, Kellie and Jordan?" Stan asked.
"I'm not exactly sure they're an item," Jason said.
"They looked pretty cozy before the courthouse exploded," Coleman said.
"They pretty much stay in their separate corners," Jason said, "I think they definitely want to be more than friends, but considering they're supposed to be on opposite sides of the law."
"They don't actually go there," Stan said, "Rumor has it, Kellie told Scorpio she's out."
"Like out of the spy business," Jason asked.
"She's still in town, according to my sources," Stan said, "But no one's seen her out and about."
"I'm sure Scorpio's not happy," Jason said, "She's flying under the radar."
"The only thing that's standing between her and leaving town is the trial," Coleman said, "This is just a guess. But she may be in town still, but not at her Uncle's or any of the usual places."
"She's gone underground," Stan said, "If Jordan has a thing going on with Kellie, that's why he's upset."
"No," Jason said, "It's more than that. He knew it would be a given she'd disappear given the chance."
Liz walked in, startled to see Jason and Stan there.
"Hey, Coleman, I just came to see if I left my debit card here last night," Liz said, "I don't think I'm going to ask."
"I locked it up in the till last night," Coleman said, "Do you still have your studio?"
"Why are you asking about Liz's studio?" Jason asked.
"Our friend in the back," Coleman said, getting her credit card from the till, "If Liz is willing, maybe he could use it when he needs to be alone. Whatever happened, he's under a microscope 24/7 and after last night it's safe to say, his hotel room won't do him any good. As good as Sonny has been, he's not the same as he was. Our friend is our best shot at making Sonny gets the help or punishment however you want to look at it he needs."
"That actually is a really good idea," Stan said.
"What friend needs to use my studio?" Elizabeth asked.
"The DA," Jason said.
"He came in here wasted last night," Coleman said, "His original plan was to drink a bottle of whiskey in his room until Carly."
"Decided she knew what was best for her new little brother," Liz said, pulling the keys to the studio out of her purse, "So if the DA needs to let loose in the privacy of his hotel room, Carly can't leave well enough alone."
"He was the kind of drunk that only happens when you're trying to forget," Jason said, "If we want Jordan to make it through the trial, he needs a place to go to get away from his job."
"And from Carly" Liz said, handing Jason the keys, "Sonny put a gun to my head, Jason. He's not who he used to be. Tell Jordan he's welcome to use the studio as long as he needs it."
"Thanks, Liz," Jason said.
"Well, I have to get to work," Liz said, "I'll see you later."
"I'm going to make a suggest," Coleman said, "I'm sure Carly will come looking for him here again sooner or later. While he's still sleeping off his hangover, you and Stan should think about getting him over to the studio. We're only going to hold Carly off for so long."
"Coleman's on a roll today."
"Stan, pull your car around to the back of the building," Jason said, "We'll get him out that way."
Stan and Jason were carrying Jordan through the back door when they heard Carly's voice out in the bar.
"Coleman, don't fail us now," Stan said under his breath. The door slammed shut behind them. Jason and Stan hurriedly threw Jordan into the backseat. You buckle him up while I drive."
"It's my baby," Stan said referring to his Cadillac.
"Right now we're driving for speed," Jason said, getting in the front seat, "and evasion. Not your specialty. Now get in."
Jason shut the door. Stan got in the back seat and shut the door. Jason sped off down the alley.
