I was rendered speechless the moment I stepped out of the car after it had come to a stop in front of the hotel hosting the ball. A part of me started to panic slightly.

"Miss are you all right?" an older man asked.

"Oh I am just fine. It is my first time attending a ball after all." I told him. "I guess my nerves are starting to get to me."

"Take a shot of whiskey. It's what me da had me do when I married my Elizabeth in 1962."

"Thank you but I'm not much of a drinker." I replied before walking up to the hotel. I took my time because I did not want to trip and or rip the dress and or my skin.

I noticed that my nerves were still frayed but not as bad as they were before. When I stepped inside the hotel I could see t

hat it was a lot larger than it appeared to be from outside. There was nothing telling me where the ball room was so I had to find someone that could tell me where it was. Come on I couldn't very well walk all over the hotel trying to find it at least not in the dress I was wearing.

I had been standing there for about two minutes when I finally spotted a man wearing a hotel security uniform. I took a breath and walked up to him.

"Excuse me can you point me to the ball room holding the Golden Summer Ball?" I asked him. "I can't seem to find it."

"Do you have an invitation?" He asked.

I pulled the envelope Alice had given me earlier from my bag and handed it to him. His eyes nearly shot out of his eye sockets when he caught what it said. I hadn't seen anything special about it when I looked it over in the car but clearly he did.

"Michael we have another guest." he said into a walkie-talkie before handing the envelope back. "Ma'am if you go to those wooden doors over there, Michael will be out in a moment to take you to the ballroom. Have a great evening."

I walked over to the doors he had mentioned and waited for Michael to appear. I stood there waiting for over ten minutes feeling like a fool standing there doing nothing. I let out a breath when a man I figured was Michael showed up came through the doors.

Michael had me take his arm and led me through the doors to another set of heavy wooden doors more ornate than the first. He left me by myself at the top of a grand stair case worthy of the Titanic it certainly belonged there by the looks of it.

I placed my hand gently on the dark wood railing. It felt cool to the touch. I took a deep breath and walked down the stairs. I was mid-way down the stairs when I felt someone's eyes on me but with all the people in the room I couldn't tell who it was.

I just loved the way she looked when she appeared at the staircase. My work was good but I couldn't believe it was that good. I could see my cousin over by the bar staring at her. I knew he liked her and if we were back in the medieval times he would be asking for her hand before the end of the night but alas we are not in the medieval times and it was that 2000's a proposal at its earliest was months after meeting someone.

"Alice what are you up to?" My aunt asked from behind me.

"Nothing Esme." I replied. "If anything happens it will be because God let it happen. Not because I was meddling."

"Alice. Remember what happen the last time."

"I do and I'm sorry I didn't know Tanya would turn out so starker like." I replied. "I'm going to find a dance partner tell Uncle Carlisle I said hi."

"You can tell him yourself at dinner tomorrow night." Esme said. "We'll have a ball to talk about."

"You get to tell Edward." I replied.
