Chapter 25: New Year S4
My parents were away for the New Year this year. I wanted to do something different instead of heading to the shrine early morning. Murasakibara and I decided to have a simple idea for the New Year: Sleepovers.
My heart was beating to this idea when he agreed to it. I mean, it's just the two of us! I know we had been dating for almost 2 years but sometimes, it just feels so… odd. Atsushi said he would bring 'a lot' of snacks for the night. My apartment had a guest room so he could just sleep there if he wanted.
I was busy preparing some onigiri when I heard the doorbell. I looked up to a monitor screen beside the door and it is Atsushi in PJs, carrying a luggage. I opened the door and was greeted by him.
"Atsushi, urm, come in."
"Ohh… Thank you."
I hid my face because I could feel my cheeks. It's just the two of us. As he entered, he went to the living room and switched on the TV. His luggage by his side, which I was curious.
"Atsushi, where are your snacks?"
"Hm? You want one?"
"Maybe later."
"OK"
I went back to the kitchen and finished up the onigiri preparation. I served it at a plate and brought it outside to the living room. He looked lifeless as he wasn't snacking, which I thought was strange because he would have been snacking like crazy already. I sat beside him and place the plate on the table.
"May I know what's inside the luggage?"
"Sure."
Murasakibara opened the luggage and it was all the snacks, candies and chocolate bars that he loved. I was taken aback by the amount he brought. I didn't think 'a lot' would have meant, a whole luggage.
"Atsushi, will you finish everything?"
"You can help me, here, take this."
I grabbed the chocolate bar that he threw at me. I am still in awe by the amount of snacks he managed to buy. Did he knew the owner of the shop or something? Once Murasakibara took some snacks, he sat at the sofa and I sat next to him. His luggage is on the table so that he could easily reach for snacks. I cringed at that idea.
"Why is the TV channel so boring… Why is there no channel on food?"
"Really? Let's change the channel then." I took the TV remote and clicked on the programme button to change to different channels. I stopped at the music channel because my favourite boyband is singing live.
"omg Atsushi! It's STARISH! Look!" I beamed at the screen and watched with interest. Atsushi on the other hand was still munching on snacks, looking disinterested at all.
"They're so gay."
"Hey! They're very cool, OK?"
Ignoring Atsushi, I sang along the lines of the song. The band was singing a medley before their segment is over.
"I wished I could attend their concert. They're so cool, especially Tokiya! Atsushi, we should go to their concert one day!"
"Not interested. What's so cool about them anyways?" Murasakibara opened another bag of snacks as he reached out to his luggage.
"Then I'll go with my group of friends who likes them then." I looked at Mura-kun and saw a tiny hint of jealousy in his eyes. I hugged his arm and attempted to make him snuggle me. He seemed to get my action and shifted himself to me comfortable. I managed to quickly steal a kiss from his cheek before going back to my snuggling position.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Murasakibara asked me lazily.
I giggled. "Nothing."
Atsushi stared at my face. "Tell me."
"Nope!"
Murasakibara pinned me down on the couch and gave me a kiss, somewhat forceful. My hands were unable to move his face away from mine, although I tried to push him away. Atsushi stopped and our eyes met. He spoke.
"You mean you love Tokiya than me?"
"Of course not. You know I love you more than anyone else, Atsushi."
I kissed him and he muttered "thanks" before going back to his sitting position, taking a bar of chocolate and started to munch on it. I noticed its 5 minutes to New Year. I looked out to the window and the night sky was clear to see fireworks.
"Atsushi, thank you for all the memories."
"Hm? What about it?"
"I feel like the luckiest girl in world right now."
"Aren't you?"
I smiled at Atsushi and looked out. Fireworks started playing and it is officially the New Year. Murasakibara hugged me and I rested on his chest, eyelids feeling very heavy.
"I love you, princess. Good night." I think I hear them not before I doze off.
