Repairs on the side walks near his house. Sent Gibbs to a park a few miles away for his morning run. He wasn't sure why he choose this park. It wasn't the closest but it wasn't way out of his way either. He rounded the corner and found a familiar face sitting on the bench. He was just going to wave but as he got closer his heart dropped. Breena was sitting on the bench raising her hand to her mouth. There was an empty bottle of pills lying beside her. He ran over and slapped the pills out of her hand.
"What do you think you are doing?" Gibbs demanded.
"Ending my life." Breena sobbed.
"Why?" Gibbs asked.
"I can't give Jimmy a baby and he won't divorce me. This is the only way he will move on." Breena sobbed.
"I'm not going to pretend like I understand how you feel but I do understand how Jimmy would feel if you die. Lost and alone like there is no reason to carry on. Even if he has the girls losing you and know that he could have stopped it. He will never forgive himself. I lost my whole family but Leon can attest to feeling lost and without meaning even with kids." Gibbs explained.
"Yeah but you guys came through so I know Jimmy can too. Especially if he has the support of you and Leon." Breena argued.
"OK well what about Kayley and Ryley. Those girls have been through more than most adults and they are just thirteen. Do you really want to add your suicide to that list? Kayley already thinks she cursed." Gibbs explained.
"They're tough girls they will come through this." Breena replied.
"You may think that but I was a tough kid and my mom committed suicide. When I was not much older than them. It nearly killed me and she had cancer and well it was a death sentence back then. If it were now. Well she had ovarian cancer but even that is treatable now days. The kind she had it was caught early and if it were now she'd be fine. Most likely anyway." Gibbs explained.
"Yeah but she is better off and so am I." Breena sobbed.
"No Breena my mom was sick and she would never get better. You are healthy and if you just hang on. You will be OK and you will see that Jimmy and the girls are better off with you here." Gibbs explained.
"I want Jimmy to have a baby though." Breena sighed.
"It's near impossible to adopt if you are a single parent. If you stay here you can adopt." Gibbs explained.
"Jimmy does want to adopt a slightly older kid." Breena replied.
"Just take it one day at a time for me." Gibbs begged.
"I'll try." Breena promised.
"Good now I am going to clean the pills up so they can't hurt anybody or anything. Then I am going to take you home to Jimmy and you two can work this out." Gibbs replied.
"Thank you Gibbs." Breena replied.
Gibbs drove Breena home in her car. The park was close enough to the Palmer's house. To where he could easily walk back and get his car on the way to work. He arrived just as Jimmy was getting ready to leave for work. He helped Breena out of the car and up to the house. He skipped ringing the doorbell and knocked quietly. So that he wouldn't wake up the girls. He was just about to knock a third time when Jimmy finally opened the door.
"Oh Agent Gibbs. I was just heading to work." Jimmy greeted.
"I have someone that really needs you." Gibbs replied.
Breena? Where have you been?" Jimmy asked.
"Oh Jimmy I am so sorry!" Breena cried.
"Sorry for what?" Jimmy asked.
"I was going to commit suicide! If it wasn't for Gibbs I would be dead now!" Breena cried.
"Thank you Gibbs." Jimmy said.
"It was no problem." Gibbs replied.
Celeste DiNozzo rubbed her stomach. She had just started to get a bump in the past week or so. In a way she hated that she was giving up her baby but she knew that it was the best for everybody. She loved Fred and Jody and knew that they could give her baby the life it deserved. She looked at the picture of her cousin Tony. He was the only person in the family who truly understood her. She closed her eyes and said a silent prayer that he wouldn't have a case again next week and would actually be able to talk to have their Saturday evening phone call. He had talked to Vance and she had a job practically promised to her upon graduation. Between that and her baby having a loving home. Things really were falling into place for her. Of course there was some kind of law of nature that worked against her and things were just about to fall apart. At least this tome her cousin would come through and save not only her but a family that needed a miracle as well.
Jimmy could not believe what Breena had told him. How could he have missed that she was suicidal? What if Gibbs hadn't gotten to her in time? He should have never left her side. He should have insisted that she get help. He quietly led her inside and helped her up to their room. He set her on the bed then sat down beside her. For a long time nobody spoke. He knew that she needed to be the first one to talk. So he waited patiently until she was ready. He was sure that Gibbs would explain his tardiness and he would be excused.
"I told Gibbs I would take it one day at a time but I don't think I can fight much more." Breena admitted.
"That's why I will always be there to fight with you." Jimmy replied.
"What did I do to deserve you?" Breena asked.
"You gave me a reason to live and if it weren't for you I wouldn't be able to care for the girls that we have." Jimmy explained.
"What about the baby?" Breena asked.
"The baby we lost because it's mother changed her mind will be happy and loved by her and the baby we lost will be a guardian angel to Ryley, Kayley, and whatever child we adopt." Jimmy explained.
"You are still OK with adopting an older baby or young child?" Breena asked.
"Yes I am. I want two things to help you recover and to give a child a home." Jimmy assured.
"I just hope that things get better soon." Breena whispered.
"So do I Breena. So do I." Jimmy replied.
A/N: Good thing Gibbs was in the park. New chapter will be up soon. This story will be ending soon but their will be a sequel that as of right now I am calling "The Palmer Family". Please review and vote in my new poll for this story.
