Jiji was pacing nervously about the ruins. He was contemplating their next move and exactly how long it would take for Ruby and Jaune to get through the trials. The temple shook again. It had been shaking ever since the incident with Yang and Jaune. Jiji had started to ignore it though. He walked over to Silver who was looking worried about something and tapped him on the shoulder.
"Silver I think it's time we gear up."
"You sure?"
"Mmm. They'll be coming soon and we better be ready."
"Alrighty then" Silver walked over to one of the corners of the temple where a large object covered in a sheet sat. Silver removed the sheet to reveal a metal cube. Yang strolled over next to Silver and started to investigate the metallic object.
"What's this?"
"It's a container"
"For what? This is just a solid metal cube. There's no way to even open this thing."
"Not for you, perhaps" Interrupted Jiji as he walked over towards the two. "But for me it's the perfect case"
"How so?"
"Wait and see" Jiji went over to the metal cube and rested his hand on the chilly surface. He focused his aura and activated his semblance.
"Woah" was all Yang could say as she caught a glimpse of Jiji's semblance.

Ruby and Jaune had been stuck on another island and had already woken up and were now exploring. Ruby seemed to be in a bad mood so Jaune didn't really feel like bugging her.
Ruby didn't know what to feel. To simply put it she was confused. She didn't know whether to be angry at Jaune for yanking her away from her mother or heartbroken at the fact that she was so close to finally meeting the woman. She certainly wasn't happy with anyone right now and wanted to be left alone.
They kept walking for ten more minutes before their silence was broken by a squeaking noise. Jaune looked over towards a bush where he thought the noise had come from. A white fluffy fur ball of a creature rolled through the bushes and squeaked again. Jaune though this was the perfect chance to cheer Ruby up.
"Hey Rubes check that out! Isn't it adorable?" Jaune exclaimed with as much enthusiasm as he could. Ruby didn't even acknowledge either of them. She just kept her head down and kept walking. "Aww come on Ruby! How can you just ignore something as cute as this?" Jaune went over to touch the creature but before he could touch it, its squeak turned into a shriek. The white fluff ball turned into a red spiky ball of anger. It started to grow until it was twice the size of Jaune. "WHY!? WHY DO THINGS HATE ME?" Jaune shouted. He pulled out his shield and sword and got into his fighting stance. He glanced over at Ruby but she just kept on walking without even taking a second glance at the shrieking creature. "Ruby a little help please?"
"*sigh*" Ruby turned around and had the darkest look on her face. She pulled out crescent rose and unleashed a volley of bullets on the creature. She switched to scythe mode and used her semblance to zig zag back and forth. Jaune swore she had gotten even faster since they began their training. She came to a stop in front of Jaune. The creature was cut into pieces.
"That was…brutal"
"It's us or them"
"But…"
"Just hurry up, we have to set up camp…it's getting dark"
"Right"
They established a good campsite and Jaune went out to collect firewood. 'I wonder what she's so upset about. Did I do something wrong?' Jaune kept pondering on the matter until he heard a growl. He turned to see the red spiky creature from earlier creeping through the woods. Jaune just about screamed but caught himself in time. 'How is it alive? There was no way it could have survived Ruby's attack! I need to get back to camp.' Jaune turned to head back but was stopped in his tracks as he stepped on a stick that snapped loudly. The snap echoed through the woods. The monster instantly spotted him and started rolling towards him. He dropped the fire wood and ran as fast as he could back towards the camp.
"RUBY WE HAVE A PROBLEM!" He yelled as he stumbled into the campsite.
"*sigh* what is it this time?" she said with bitterness in her voice. She turned to find herself face to face with the giant spike ball. "Great…I have to kill you again" She pulled out crescent rose and proceeded to cut it down just like before. This time though all the pieces turned into red globs and come together to form the spikey creature once again, it was twice as big as before and looked even deadlier.
"Ruby any plans on how we kill it?"
"Nope…you"
"Well there's always running!"
"Right"
Jaune and Ruby made a break for it and soon enough the spike ball was out of sight. They decided to just sit down and rest for a little bit before they were attacked again, the spikey creature broke through some trees and almost smothered them. They both knew that if they were to cut the creature it would regenerate and get even stronger so they agreed to run.
It was an ongoing loop of they would run, stop and rest, and then be attacked. Night fell and they were lucky enough to find a cave that was too small for the creature to fit so they decided to stay there for the night. Ruby was still in a bad mood and Jaune still had no idea why.
"Ruby"
"What"
"What's wrong?"
She gave him the evil eye before responding.
"…nothing"
"Ruby can you please just tell me what's wrong"
"You really wanna know?"
"Yes"
"You're what's wrong!"
"What did I do?!"
"DON'T PLAY DUMB!"
"Ruby…I honestly don't know"
"How can you not know? You just had to drag me away after I just met my mother. DON'T TELL ME THAT YOU DON'T KNOW."
"When was this?"
"When you were in the void I finally got to meet my mother but before I could even say hello I was dragged by you into this stupid trial! I've…wanted to meet her ever since I was a child…but I never got the chance."
"Ruby I-"
"Until now…I thought we understood each other! How would you like it if I dragged you away from your mother after you got to finally see her again!"
Ruby was now standing and yelling at Jaune.
"Ruby…there was no one there"
"What are you talking about?"
"When we came back…there was only you and Jiji in the temple…there was no one else"
"But I saw her"
"Ruby…there was no one there. I'm not lying to you"
"How…I…"
"Ruby I believe you did see your mother, but that's what worries me"
"…"
"If you saw your mother than that means she's in one of these portals…and that's not good"
"…"
"These trials are meant to challenge us and that means your mother…
"…I know…okay…I know" Ruby was now crying. Jaune scooted closer and hugged her to try and comfort her in some way.
…
"She's here" said Jiji
"Jaune…sweety are you here?" came a soft voice.
"This is just cruel" said Silver
"Okay someone care to fill me in?" asked Yang.
"Later, we have to deal with this now.
"Jaune…sweety where are you?" said the soft voice again
"He's not here" said Jiji
"Where is he?"
"…I can't tell you that…and I can't let you meet him yet…I'm going to have to stop you…I'm sorry…Ellena"
Sorry if this chapter wasn't as good as some of my other chapters. Shouldn't try and write things when I'm tired but I got through it. I have received a lot of positive feedback from you guys and as a response to this I have been making 3D models for some of the weapons that will be coming up in the next few chapters. They'll be posted on deviantart under Un4givinCarnage. I won't post any until after the chapter where the weapon makes its first appearance; hopefully you all like this idea.
