Chapter 25

Coincidence Or Fate!

"So what's going on?" Lester asked as he walked into Kacey's lab and stopping next to Matt as they were all staring at the white board in front of them.

"That's what's going on" Connor stated pointing at the board making Lester look before turning around and looking at the team before turning to look back at the board.

"Anyone want to fill me in on what I am meant tot be looking at?" Lester asked looking around at everyone before zeroing on Kacey.

"I have been trying to map thing out and find any and all binding ties. Something else is at work here... there are too many coincidence's" Kacey stated looking at Lester as he just raised his eyebrow at Kacey.

"What are you trying to say?" Lester asked looking at Kacey before looking at the rest of the team.

"I think someone is stacking the deck" Kacey stated as she stared at the board before looking back at Lester. "And everything I look into it usually ends up back at her" Kacey whispered pointing at Helen's name.

"Ok, I think its time you go home and take a few days off I think you are starting to literally lose it. Helen is dead... Dead people can't cause trouble!" Lester stated making Kacey laugh as she shook her head.

"What's real and what's not? Really Lester, you want to go there?" Kacey asked raising her eyebrow. "You are in charge of a place that tracks rips in time space and tracks down dinosaurs... Your Team Leader is from the future and his other half is from the past!" Kacey stated glaring at Lester as he tried to formulate a sentence. "And dead people cant cause problems you say... correct me if I'm wrong but New Dawn went down after Helen's death but she was the mastermind behind it?"

"Well..." Lester started before Kacey cut him off.

"So with out that ever happening Matt never would of come back from the future to stop it from happening with Matt not around Emily wouldn't of stayed and she would of gone back to her time and been incarcerated in a mental institution!" Kacey stated her eyes blazing as she turned around and looked at the board before turning back and looking at Lester. "It sounds insane and impossible but we make our livings by working with the insane and impossible" Kacey stated as Lester looked at the board before looking back at Kacey and shaking his head.

"You know you are asking me to happily accept Helen is back in the picture?" Lester ask as Kacey nodded her head before sighing as she looked at Lester.

"I don't think she was ever out of it. I think she had more than one contingency plan in place" Kacey whispered shaking her head. "I thin she had everything planned out in advance" Kacey whispered shaking her head. "Case in point her sister getting married just before I was born?" Kacey whispered shaking her head. "That's no coincidence, Social will not allow unmarried people to adopt... Helen planned it out to a T" Kacey stated before turning back to the board with a sigh.

"Helen really is a plague on Human Kind" Lester muttered as he looked at the board with a sigh. "Where do we go from here?" Lester asked looking at Matt to Kacey and watching as they both shook their heads.

"We need to uncover every stone that Helen has ever touched because until we know what the plan is we cant do anything as we cant counter act an act that hasn't been committed yet" Matt stated making everyone look at him. "I know none of us are happy about Helen being back in the picture because when ever she rears her ugly head he tries to destroy everything we have worked hard to protect but we have beaten her before we can do it again" Matt stated smiling at Kacey before looking at everyone to see them nodding their heads.

"Alright then Jess if you come with me, you and Chloe can get started on researching Helen" Lester stated looking at Jess before looking back at the group and zeroing in on Kacey. "And you take my earlier advice if not go home get some rest you look like your ready to drop" Lester stated with a smile as he watched as Kacey slowly nodded her head as she walked over to Becker and rested her head on his shoulder making everyone smile softly Lester shook his head as he left the lab with Jess behind him who gave a small smile and a wave as she left as well.

"Aright lets head over to our lab as I believe we have all our old records backed up on our laptops... maybe we can find something on them" Matt stated before smiling at Kacey. "And you can crash on the sofa" Matt smiled as Kacey stuck her tongue out at him making Connor laugh.

"Whilst you guys do that I'm going to head down to the Hub and call in at the UK ARC I have a load of stuff on my old laptop in my lab, I'm going to get them to send it all over it should be here in a few days" Connor smiled as he too headed out the lab.

"Come on sleepy head" Becker laughed as he placed his hand on Kacey's back and guided her out the lab with Matt, Abby and Emily behind him all smiling as Kacey leant back against Becker's chest as he opened the door to the other lab Kacey walked over and sunk on to the couch and rested her head on the back as the other three walked in.

"How much sleep have you been getting?" Abby smiled as she looked at Kacey who shook her head making Abby sigh with a small smile.

"Not much" Kacey smiled as Becker sat down on the far end of the couch. "What you doing?" Kacey asked as leant against his shoulder as she looked at the screen.

"Checking through our files like Matt said and you are going to get some sleep" Becker smiled turning his head and quickly kissing the top of her head.

"Are you ordering me around?" Kacey smiled looking up at him making him laugh.

"If it works then yes" Becker smiled before quickly kissing her lips.

"Fine as long as you stay here as you are quite comfy" Kacey whispered burying her head into his neck as Becker pulled her body closer to him so she was more comfortable before he fired up the laptop oblivious to the stares he was getting from Abby, Emily and Matt.

"Them two are like a old married couple" Abby laughed quietly as she looked at Matt who was smirking and Emily who was smiling.

"I think its sweet they remind me of me and Matt and you and Connor" Emily smiled as Matt hugged her from behind and kissed her.

"I have to admit I have never seen him like that" Abby smiled as she looked at Kacey and Becker, Becker was quietly whispering to Kacey as she had her eyes closed.

"He does seem rather content" Matt smiled as he turned and grabbed his laptop and fired it up as Abby and Emily followed suit as they all sat around the main desk that run down the middle of the room.

Connor paused as he quietly let himself into the lab Matt, Abby and Emily were all sitting at the desk on their laptops working away but what caught his eye was Kacey and Becker. Becker had his laptop on the arm of the sofa holding it with his left arm and Kacey was laying across the sofa with her head on Becker's lap. Becker's free hand was linked with Kacey's left had and the two of them were quietly talking. They both looked so peaceful making Connor smile as he walked over to Abby, Emily and Matt.

"Hey" Abby smiled as she looked up at Connor as she felt him next to her before looking at to where Connor was looking before smiling at him. "Sorted?" Abby asked as Connor nodded.

"Yea, Kieran is sending it all over" Connor smiled as Matt looked at him with a raised eyebrow and a small smile.

"Your trusting Coles with this?" Matt smiled as Connor rolled his eyes.

"His not that bad" Connor stated before looking as Abby, Emily and Matt raised their eyebrows at Connor. "His not... his just very enthusiastic about the job and he makes a few mistakes" Connor stated as Emily shock her head before turning back to the laptop in front of her.

"If you say Connor" Matt smiled as he also turned back to his laptop with a smirk.

"Are you forgetting he accidentally drove us through an anomaly...?" Abby asked loudly making Kacey and Becker look over at the group as Becker frowned.

"Why are you guys talking about Coles?" Becker asked as Kacey hid her laughter behind her hand before lowering it and looking around at everyone.

"Wait a minute are you guys telling me one of your teammate's drove threw an anomaly... Why did he not see the flickering light?" Kacey laughed as Connor rolled his eyes.

"The guy made one mistake and he never gets given a break" Connor muttered sitting down making Kacey laugh as Abby rounded on Connor with a raised eyebrow.

"He drove us into the path of a pride of Sabbath Tooth Tigers!" Abby stated making Kacey hold her hand tighter over her mouth so her laughter wouldn't be heard.

"The guy is a menace, he accidentally shot one of my men when he was helping to replace the EMD's back into the armoury" Becker stated as Connor tried not to smile.

"Ok, I am slightly worried for people's safety in the UK right about now" Kacey laughed making everyone else crack up as Connor hook his head.

"He will be fine he just needs to adjust and calm down" Connor stated making Kacey laugh harder as she looked at her brother in curiosity.

"Why are you defending him so hard?" Kacey asked as Connor turned to look at his sister.

"Because he reminds me of myself when I first started with the anomalies. Cutter never gave me much crap when I screwed up but everyone seems to pick on Kieran" Connor muttered.

"The difference is Connor everyone could see the potential in you, we can't in Coles" Matt stated sadly as he looked at Connor before turning back to the laptop.

"Sometimes Connor people just aren't able to deal with stuff on the front lines" Abby smiled as Connor nodded sadly.

"Who knows one day he may save your life!" Kacey smiled looking at her brother. "If anomalies have taught us one thing nothing is predictable" Kacey smiled making the others laugh.

"She has a point" Becker laughed as everyone else nodded because how could any of them predict the future...
