Chapter 25.

Amy finally came into her room running in and slamming the door putting her back to it. She huffed silently from the long run putting her hand over her chest where her heart was. She cursed under her breath. She was always taught not to swear at all after one time she accidentally said a word she learned from town to her parents. That was a day she was given a slap and a good talk then to her room the entire night. She knew it was wrong and kept herself from saying anymore, but this time, it was different. She wished she could scream out every single type of word known to man kind, but kept her mouth shut.

She got off the door and walked to the bed plopping herself onto the comfy blankets. She sighed to herself placing her hands on her lap folding them together and prayed quietly that somehow, things will turn at least pleasantly for her. She wished her mother was here right now giving her guidance as to what she must do. Alas, she would have to decide on her own. She quickly looked up from her lap after hearing the door knock quietly.

"Who's there?" she called out.

"It's me, my lady." her best friend, Aqua replied from behind the door.

With an accepted call, Aqua was let in. She shut the door quietly then walked over to her, "What's wrong? You look troubled." she asked.

Amy looked down from her views then took her hand to pat the side of the bed for her to sit. She obeyed and sat down next to her. It took the princess a while to look up at her dear friend making sure she didn't have a single tear in her eye till later, "Aqua...I'm so...I'm so confused..." she answered to her almost in a quiver.

"Why? What happened?".

"...S...Sonic...kissed me.".

Right then, the maid's eyes widened, "What?!" she shouted, but quickly silenced herself placing a hand over her mouth quieting her voice before speaking, "He did?".

Amy nodded looking back down to her lap again. Aqua knew that she should be happy that he kissed her knowing that's the next step to being in love. But after hearing of her and Shadow's secret relationship, she was worried for her friend. If a person knows about this, they would tell either Sonic, or the king, and after that, bad things will happen and will mostly end in death.

Finally coming to her senses, the aqua colored maid placed her arm around her shoulders to comfort her. Amy smiled slightly. She was glad that she at least had someone to help her, "What are you going to do? Have you told Shadow about this other relationship?" she asked quietly making sure no one hears.

Hearing that made the princess's emerald eyes open wide. What would Shadow say if he knows she was going to be married soon?! Thinking of what he would do, or say made the poor girl shake inside. It was almost time for the wedding and soon the news will break out into the country. If he hears it before she will tell him, he would be devistated and angry knowing she hid something so horrible as her wedding from him when they were in a loving relationship. No. She had to tell him before that. No matter what the cost.

Amy looked up from her lap, then stood up making the maid beside her stare confusingly at her, "I'm going." she said seriously.

"What?" Aqua asked standing up.

"I'm going to see him. I have to tell Shadow what is going on.".

"But...how do you think he would act if you tell him...?" Amy turned to her staring straight into her eyes, "If he is angry with me, and leaves me...then it would be my fault for even thinking of keeping such a big secret from him...".

The maid and her stared at each other in pure silence. After some time, Aqua nodded with a sigh, "Be careful. I'll stay in here to keep your secret safe." she said trustingly.

Amy smiled at her and hugged her tightly. With that, she got ready and used the 'escape rope' as always to climb down. Aqua watched as her form gets smaller and smaller till she couldn't see anymore from the bottom. She hoped that she and Shadow would still be together after she tells him.

Back at the hut, Shadow was busy sitting down in front of the fire place making his supper. It was the usual cabbage and carrot stew he always made. He always thought he would hate having to eat the same meal over and over again, but that's life. As he poked the flames helping it cook the stew that was in the pot over the fire, he looked to his left seeing the small burlap pouch on a small little wooden stool which contained something special he had saved up for. He smiled thinking of his precious princess's face when she opens it and her smile grows wide.

Turning his view back to the stew, he finished rearranging the coal then stood up. As he dusted himself off from his old pants, he heard some footsteps coming close making his ear twitch. He smiled to himself knowing who it was. He quickly grabbed the pouch placing it in his quills then walked to the entry way folding up the sheet-like-door. Shadow looked up seeing Amy rushing up to him as she held her dress up from the front so she wouldn't trip on the fabric.

He smiled walking over to her, "Your late." he spoke in a joking tone.

Amy rushed up to him and stopped in front of the him huffing and puffing quietly, "I...I'm...sorry..." she gasped with each word after a breath, "I...was...busy...".

Shadow smiled then took the petite princess in his arms gently, "I know. I'm glad your hear, tho." he whispered diving his nose into her neck nuzzling slightly and smelling her rose scent she always had.

The pink rosette princess quivered slightly loving the ticklish feeling of her love's needle nose moving slowly onto her flesh. She smiled holding him closely for a minute till finally realizing what she came here for tonight. She slowly stopped his loving gestures and pulled away, "Shadow...I have something to tell you..." she said quietly.

She was about to answer till a white gloved finger was placed onto her lips, "Hold that thought, please?" the dark hedgehog asked before taking her hand and leading her inside his house.

Amy walked in and stood a little ways from him seeing her love fiddle around taking something out of his quills turning his body so his back was to her. Shadow quickly looked inside making sure the special item wasn't scratched, or dirtied in anyway. He smiled and turned to her with it in hand for her to see. Amy's ears twitched in confusion seeing the small little pouch in his gloved hand. She turned to him showing him her eyes of wonder.

He chuckled and grabbed her hand delicately then placed the gift in her hand, "I thought you would like something to remember our love." he smiled taking his hands back.

The princess looked at him confused before looking down at the pouch. She then carefully opened the small thing and took out something that almost made her eyes widened completely. It was a golden heart pendant with a small pink gem held on a gold chain. She lifted the necklace up looking at the stunning artwork it was put on seeing the light of it gleam from the light of the fireplace.

Shadow was smiling seeing her surprised face. He knew she'd be surprised and soon followed a bigger grin on her face ending it with a tight hug. But his hopes was going down seeing his princess's features grow sorrow and hurt. Not the plan he wanted, "Rose? Are you all right?" he asked walking towards her.

She nodded holding the gift in both her hands, "I...I love it...I really do...but" she whispered before holding it out to him, "I can't receive this wonderful gift...".

Struck with sadness slightly, Shadow took her hands, but pushed them back, "I can't. I got this for you. I wanted to give you something to show how much I cared for you." he fought back.

"I can't...this gift is so expensive and it may have costed so much of your money for food.".

"I'll be fine with what I have. Please take it.".

"I can't! Take it back!".

"Why are you refusing my gift?!".

"Because I don't deserve your love!".

Both stopping their fights and eyes were widened. Amy was kicking herself inside screaming of why she had said it in such a harsh way and after he worked so much for this wonderful present. Shadow was equally shocked and much more heartbroken. After what he thought of getting for her could make her happy only to be shunned and heartbroken the next.

He dropped his hands to his sides staring at her, "What do you mean...?" he asked in a slight hurt voice.

Amy held the necklace in her hands tightly, "I...I don't...I can't have your love...no matter how hard and how much it will hurt the both of us...but..." she quivered feeling her tears come back, "I'm...I'm...".

Shadow's ears focused all attention on her, "Your what?" he asked seriously.

"...getting married...".

Feeling like a sword was struck into his heart, Shadow's eyes had never widened since till now. He was in love with a princess soon to be married and she never spoke of it? It's just how she never told him that she was a princess all this time they had been together before. Amy looked down as her hands trembled in fear of what might happen. She tightly shut her eyes as her tears stung a bit having more come and fall down her cheeks.

"I...I'm so...so sorry..." she whimpered, "I...I did love you...I still do...but...it was before he came...I didn't want this...but my...my father wants me to...to marry...I'm so very sorry...I love you still...always have...always will...but...I can't accept your love because...it'll only hurt you when...when...I'm given up...to another...".

Shadow watched her cry. He wanted to hold her and comfort her, but so many things were rushing into his head. He hated the fact that she had lied to him once more, but...now that he thinks about it...so has he. He never told her about his past and was sure she wanted to know. Seeing how she was in his shoes made him feel slightly guilty. Sure he was angry that she never told him, but...inside, he loved her so much to never stay angry at her. He lost someone so dear to him before and he wasn't going to lose another.

With that said, he softened his features then walked over to the still sobbing princess. Slowly and carefully, he wrapped his strong arms around her pulling her close to him. Amy slightly gasped feeling the soft touch of his chest fur upon her face. She opened her eyes slightly and looked up at him, "...Shadow...?" she quivered.

"I'm angry that you have kept another secret from me once more and not to mention having to say it when it's almost to your wedding, but..." he stared straight into the emeralds he loves so much and said, "Losing you is more horrible than this. I love you no matter what and I couldn't stay angry with you.".

"B-but...why...?" Amy asked looking down, "I'm horrible...I-I'm so...terrible for having a fiance...but...loving a-another...".

The dark hedgehog dipped a finger under her chin tilting her head up to face him again, "You are not horrible. You did make a bad decision...but...I'm so glad you did...for I wouldn't have met such a beautiful girl I have right here in my arms right now." he smiled leaning down and kissing her forehead.

All tears were suddenly wiped away with a thumb. Amy continued to stare into his warm ruby eyes she oh so cherished. Shadow began to move down slowly as she began to follow up. When the two were close enough to feel one's breath upon their lips after another, they each shared a special kiss. Amy closed her eyes as did Shadow holding each other tightly. The dark peasant carefully used one hand to gently take the necklace out of her hands and wrap it around her neck perfectly without breaking the kiss.

Amy smiled happily in the embrace knowing everything will be just fine. She was with her love and only love in the whole world and nothing will ruin this moment. Shadow then carefully scooped her up bridal style then walked to the bed gently placing her down, but getting on top of her again, without breaking the kiss. Amy let out a quiet gasp as Shadow finally was able to break away to breathe a little only to go back for another. The two shared a loving embrace letting no one ruin this moment. Soon Shadow began to unlatch her dress from the back slowly pulling it down. Amy slightly shook knowing where this was headed, but she wouldn't have it any other way. With that through out the night, the two shared a loving pleasure for one another having the sounds of their ritual be heard through the woods.

And good. Yeah I know, but this is T for those who don't like that kind of stuff. But I guess it was ok. I don't like how it was in the end sorta, but hope you all like it. BYENEEE!
